00:00:00.000 Well, I mean, I don't want to stick the microphone in someone's face if they don't want to say it.
00:00:03.220 You know what I mean?
00:00:03.860 All right, I am here with...
00:00:05.500 Freddie Newberry.
00:00:06.700 Freddie, and you're here with your family by the looks of it.
00:00:08.700 I am.
00:00:09.260 And are you guys from Ottawa? Are you visiting?
00:00:12.040 No, we're from Quebec.
00:00:13.380 All right.
00:00:13.900 Yeah, Brownsburg, Quebec.
00:00:15.120 We're here doing what everybody else is doing, peacefully protesting.
00:00:18.440 That's right.
00:00:19.200 And what is this protest?
00:00:22.120 What do you think this convoy is all about?
00:00:24.800 It's about getting our freedom.
00:00:26.660 What was that?
00:00:27.500 Our freedom!
00:00:28.120 I agree.
00:00:30.660 Absolutely.
00:00:32.000 Enough with these mandates, enough with the craziness, and that's it.
00:00:36.820 She must have great parents, I think.
00:00:38.840 Thank you.
00:00:40.240 And a great dog.
00:00:41.740 And a great dog.
00:00:43.140 And a great dog.
00:00:44.080 He's got little booties on as well.
00:00:46.020 Yeah, his little Freedom Canada.
00:00:47.740 So, do you watch the news in this country?
00:00:50.140 I've got to be honest with you, we don't have cable anymore.
00:00:52.800 Okay.
00:00:53.100 It's been over a year there that we moved, and it wasn't an option anymore.
00:00:57.540 And not having that kind of makes you realize, whoa, it's pretty unreal.
00:01:02.460 And seeing what's going on right now, part of me is like, ah, I can't believe it enrages me.
00:01:08.220 But then there's the other part of me that's like, go, keep going, keep going.
00:01:11.020 The world is watching.
00:01:12.280 Keep going. 0.96
00:01:13.180 It's so ridiculous. 0.99
00:01:14.780 So, they're just shooting themselves in the foot. 1.00
00:01:16.940 What can I say?
00:01:17.720 It's unbelievable.
00:01:18.980 Yeah.
00:01:19.100 So, what was the toughest thing you had to go through over the past two years, and something
00:01:23.640 that you never want to have to go through again?
00:01:27.720 Basically, my business, building decks, kind of tanked right away, just as it was looking
00:01:34.040 to have a great summer.
00:01:35.020 Couldn't get lumber.
00:01:35.820 Couldn't get material.
00:01:36.600 So, my wife's a teacher, and having to see kids masked up and her having to wear a mask 1.00
00:01:42.920 every day, it's not right.
00:01:45.000 I can't take one more minute of wearing a mask and seeing kids wearing masks, even in
00:01:50.200 gym class as well.
00:01:52.240 It's frustrating.
00:01:53.380 It's sad.
00:01:55.580 They're fed up.
00:01:56.520 I'm fed up.
00:01:57.820 Yeah, we all just follow the rules.
00:02:00.600 Yeah.
00:02:00.740 How about you?
00:02:03.600 What do you hope to never have to do again over the past two years?
00:02:07.600 I'm not sure.
00:02:08.600 Say it louder?
00:02:09.840 I'm not sure, Mom.
00:02:11.220 You're not sure?
00:02:11.900 She hasn't had to wear a mask at all.
00:02:13.460 Oh, okay.
00:02:13.960 That's good.
00:02:14.420 That's good.
00:02:15.100 Awesome.
00:02:15.420 Yeah, because I'm a five-year-old, and my birthday's tomorrow.
00:02:18.480 What?
00:02:18.720 And I'm going to have it in, well, I'm going to have it here on my birthday.
00:02:24.200 And I'm going to eat pancakes, too.
00:02:27.020 Yeah.
00:02:27.380 I heard they're making pancakes here.
00:02:29.860 That's great.
00:02:30.740 And that's my favorite kind of food, also.
00:02:32.860 What's your birthday wish tomorrow?
00:02:34.760 Um, what do you want to wish for?
00:02:37.380 I don't know.
00:02:39.200 And the mandates.
00:02:40.860 And the mandates.
00:02:43.240 And stop seeing my parents wearing masks in the stores.
00:02:49.000 Yes.
00:02:49.640 Every time my parents have to go to the grocery store, they have to put on the masks, and
00:02:54.280 I don't want to see them do that anymore.
00:02:56.300 Absolutely.
00:02:57.160 Well, if I don't see you tomorrow, happy birthday.
00:02:59.820 Okay.
00:03:01.420 Awesome.
00:03:02.340 And before I go, a lot of people are saying they're feeling Canadian pride for the first
00:03:06.140 time in a long time.
00:03:07.360 Absolutely.
00:03:07.960 More than the Olympics, more than any Canada Day parade.
00:03:10.720 I grew up on a street that the Canada Day parade went right past our house.
00:03:15.100 We'd have like 200 people on our lawn every year.
00:03:17.760 I've never felt pride like this.
00:03:18.740 I haven't watched one Habs game.
00:03:21.620 Are the Olympics happening?
00:03:23.140 I don't even...
00:03:23.880 I've never had so much pride as being here last weekend and seeing what's going on right
00:03:28.700 now.
00:03:29.260 Awesome.
00:03:29.700 Yep.
00:03:29.900 And everyone I talked to, I enlightened them because they said, is it scary here?
00:03:35.160 Is it safe for kids?
00:03:36.120 Be safe.
00:03:37.340 And I said, yes, bring the family.
00:03:39.520 Bring everyone.
00:03:40.760 I'm here for my mom, for my sisters, everyone who couldn't be here.
00:03:44.040 They said, go and protest for us.
00:03:46.400 So I'm here for you.
00:03:47.840 It's an awesome street festival, right?
00:03:50.040 Yeah.
00:03:50.480 You have to experience...
00:03:51.440 If you can...
00:03:52.180 If it's not that, that far to get here, don't miss out.
00:03:55.620 Thanks for your time, man.
00:03:56.660 Thank you, sir.
00:03:57.320 Thank you.
00:03:57.900 Thank you.
00:03:58.980 Boom.
00:04:00.000 We're definitely coming here tomorrow.
00:04:02.400 Good.
00:04:03.100 I'll see you there.
00:04:04.900 Okay.
00:04:05.740 I really want those pancakes.
00:04:07.620 They sound so yummy.
00:04:09.080 Yeah.
00:04:09.520 I want to end those mandates too.
00:04:11.600 And the pancakes.
00:04:13.400 Thanks so much.
00:04:14.320 Yeah, no, thank you.
00:04:15.000 Appreciate it.
00:04:15.460 Thank you.
00:04:15.940 Lovely family you got.
00:04:16.860 Thank you for watching, guys.
00:04:18.480 We are doing so many interviews.
00:04:20.200 We have editing to do.

00:04:36.520 Let's go.
