Greg Wycliffe - 'Trucker Convoy stole freedom from Ottawa businesses' Trash Takes #03

00:00:00.000 I'm a Canadian. My name is Greg. This is Trash Talk where we go over five trash takes. In five

00:00:05.520 minutes we're going to be talking about cancel culture. We're going to be talking about the

00:00:08.760 protests in China versus the protests here in Canada. But let's just jump right into it. First

00:00:13.360 we have this take from Captain Kobe. Oh we love our Captain Kobe, don't we folks? People keep

00:00:18.780 asking me why I have yet to discuss what's going on in China. And as the number one paid liberal

00:00:24.280 influencer, he's saying that as a joke. It's time I make my statement. That is what an actual

00:00:29.740 dictatorship looks like. So when you say Canada has one, you just look like a fucking idiot. Thank you. 1.00

00:00:35.720 This is such a terrible take. I chimed in saying, this is basically what he's saying. Canadians 1.00

00:00:42.200 shouldn't complain about government overreach until they get locked inside their apartment buildings 0.98

00:00:48.620 and burnt alive. Because if you didn't know, that is something that happened in China.

00:00:54.280 With these crazy lockdown measures they had, that was the tipping point. People were locked inside

00:00:59.280 their apartments. There was a fire and I think nine, 10 or 11 people died. And this is what sparked

00:01:05.180 these protests. And according to this guy, according to cool Captain Kobe, we have nothing to complain

00:01:12.980 about until that happens. Until you get burnt alive in your own home. No, that's only when it's a 0.99

00:01:18.720 dictatorship. You know, it's completely crazy. These people who are probably just unaffected by

00:01:24.860 lockdowns or they don't care to stand up to what our government's doing. I really liked this take as

00:01:29.720 well from Jennifer say, we never had a China style lockdown. You know why? Because the people you trash 1.00

00:01:35.600 as freedom lovers wouldn't have it. We resisted. And this is so, so, so, so true. You know, we deserve

00:01:43.460 more respect. What do you think the Trudeau government would have done if we didn't stand

00:01:47.340 up? If the truckers didn't stand up, they would have kept pushing and pushing and pushing and 0.94

00:01:51.580 pushing. But of course, they were going to get rid of mandates anyway. Right guys? Yeah. Right.

00:01:56.540 All right. Moving on. Oh, Tom Parkin, our favorite. So many Ottawa business owners were robbed of their

00:02:03.100 freedom to operate for three weeks. This is, this stuff is so hypocritical and, and, and, and mind numbingly 0.95

00:02:10.740 dumb. Anyway, now, if it seems CFIB's Swift backs the occupiers who did the robbing rather than the 0.99

00:02:18.760 small business owners, she claims to represent that sad. So a little bit of background, Swift 0.99

00:02:23.880 works for CFIB, uh, which is an organization, which is, uh, representing small business owners,

00:02:30.660 the interests of small business owners in parliament and in different levels of government. She said,

00:02:34.700 saddest thing about the whole emergency act inquiry is how complacent, how complacently so many

00:02:40.120 Canadians view, giving up their freedoms. Absolutely. And this guy, this, um, journalist

00:02:46.860 to completely disregard what happened to small businesses for two and a half years. Like this

00:02:53.980 guy is supposed to be a mother effing journalist. And like more and more, we should just be calling

00:02:59.740 these people propagandists because that's what they are. I said, why didn't the businesses in

00:03:05.060 downtown Ottawa just open during the protest? They would have made a lot of money. In fact, the few

00:03:09.760 businesses that were open had lineups, huge lineups, nonstop freedom fighters. Where can

00:03:16.220 we get some food, please? Like there was so much foot traffic. People were struggling to

00:03:21.720 look for food down there. I would know I was there for at least 14 or 15 days. People were

00:03:27.060 cold looking for places to eat. What authoritative body declared that they must keep their doors

00:03:32.300 closed while an influx of tens of thousands of people are in Ottawa. Tom, you're supposed to

00:03:37.620 ask these questions because you're the journalist, right? But no, we don't care about the truth.

00:03:42.420 A couple of comments I liked from Paul Minder Singh on the topic was how about two years of

00:03:47.380 baseless lockdowns, which cause almost 180,000 small businesses shutting down in Canada.

00:03:56.620 It's very obvious. And if you look back, this was Metropolitan Brasserie, which is a business in

00:04:02.800 downtown Ottawa. And they are making a public statement, January 31st, Sunday, first Sunday of

00:04:08.280 the convoy. It has been brought to our attention that despite having to make the difficult decision

00:04:13.540 to close our business to our regular customers for takeout and delivery because our property was

00:04:18.920 not accessible, misinformation suggesting that our restaurant was supporting the demonstrations

00:04:23.200 has been shared online. There is obviously a cancel culture, a very, very significant cancel culture

00:04:30.900 within Ottawa. They are terrified to be associated with supporting these protesters to the point they

00:04:38.500 will shut their doors, not starve the people. That's a little inflammatory, but they will shut their

00:04:44.000 doors and not feed the freedom fighters who are protesting outside because they're afraid of the

00:04:49.540 culture in Ottawa that they might be banished. They might be, uh, you know, persecuted socially

00:04:56.120 for daring to make money while tens of thousands of people are walking around this comment from this

00:05:02.620 business. Who's terrified to be associated with the protest. I think it's very significant. It speaks

00:05:07.460 to this weird, creepy energy coming from Ottawa that we've been seeing, especially during the convoy

00:05:13.960 where like, how dare you represent people who would protest us government workers. You never

00:05:19.140 protest the government workers, right? As I've said before, it smells very authoritarian. And, and hey,

00:05:24.680 what do you know? Speaking of getting something from the government, federal government will provide

00:05:28.880 up to 20 million to Ottawa businesses shuttered by protests. So, you know, what are you guys complaining

00:05:34.920 about, right? The government's just going to take care of you guys as they always do. But, um, yeah, F, F the

00:05:41.420 people protesting for freedoms, right? They haven't even died in a apartment fire yet. Why are they

00:05:46.160 complaining? Uh, but the Ottawa people will probably say that, you know, the, the noise pollution

00:05:51.200 and, and their apartment for people complaining about freedom, that that's worse than dying in a

00:05:56.060 fire. Probably that's pro that's how ridiculous some of these, uh, Ottawa people are. I love everyone, 0.98

00:06:01.540 but these Ottawa people, man, I don't know. I'm just messing around. I wanted to throw this in here,

00:06:08.140 a tweet that got really popular anti-freedom convoy folk might be the most ignorant and hateful group in 0.99

00:06:13.280 the country. Quite literally. Um, they seem really dumb and uninformed. Uh, and speaking of which, 0.98

00:06:19.900 speaking of dumb and uninformed, we got Glenn McCregor. He is a journalist from CTV National News. He's from 0.99

00:06:26.540 the Parliamentary Press Gallery. He tweets out, at the Under Armour store, at the Tanger Outlet Mall in

00:06:32.400 Canada. That's right, guys. It's a sweater with the word freedom on it. This is concerning. This,

00:06:45.220 this is a scoop. According to this journalist, this is a scoop. Oh my God. Under Armour putting this

00:06:52.100 logo, putting freedom in a, in a, in a maple leaf Canadian flag over here. What a, what a,

00:06:58.200 what a total thought crime that is. Even libs of TikTok, which has a huge following chimed in.

00:07:04.640 This is hate speech, literally shaking. Did you survive? And then Lee Stewie, shouts out to Lee

00:07:10.000 Stewie. She posted this, which is what does the Under Armour freedom mean? Uh, UA Freedom is an

00:07:16.940 Under Armour program that supports the efforts of the Wounded Warrior Project, whose mission is to honor,

00:07:22.020 raise awareness and aid wounded veterans and military service members. It's funny when us critics,

00:07:27.080 like Lee Stewie, like the Ferryman's Toll, like myself, uh, are critical of these journalists.

00:07:34.940 You know, it's like, because the journalists aren't doing their job. So we have to, it's like,

00:07:39.720 you're going to post this photo, like concern trolling about the word freedom on a sweater,

00:07:44.220 but you're not going to even like look it up, which probably took Lee Stewie or the Ferryman's Toll

00:07:48.460 two seconds. And you call yourself a journalist. It's clickbait. It's stupid. It's silly.

00:07:53.660 Here's another trash take to add in. I don't know who this is, but, but maybe this was ironic, 0.98

00:07:58.620 but it's hilarious. Wow. They just lost my business. I don't know if this person is serious

00:08:03.100 or not. Um, I chimed in saying, thank you for covering this very important story. It's such

00:08:08.200 an important story. This, uh, this sweater where that says freedom on it. And I think it's interesting

00:08:13.860 that this journalist is focusing on this clothing line instead of this clothing line, which is

00:08:20.260 Balenciaga. I don't know if you guys have seen this yet. It's really, really disturbing. This is

00:08:25.860 like supposed to be, this is like part of their imagery, which is kids holding like BDSM, uh,

00:08:32.320 teddy bears and stuff. A lot, a lot of weird stuff like using children. And apparently there's like

00:08:37.040 in this document, so there's a reference to, I won't say it out loud, but it, but it says it, um,

00:08:41.960 right here. So yeah, you want to, Oh, you want to be critical of under armor for this,

00:08:47.860 but you don't want to talk about something like this, something like this. And what, what,

00:08:53.320 what this brand is up to, I guess not, I guess not. Um, this is the designer, by the way, I won't

00:08:59.760 show the full image because it's quite disturbing, but this is the chief designer for Balenciaga. Uh,

00:09:05.480 again, there's a lot to this story. If you're a journalist, if you want to look into it, I really

00:09:09.620 like this take from Blair white as well. If Balenciaga did something that offended the LGBT

00:09:14.180 community, every celebrity would have cut ties instantly. They promoted child blank and nearly

00:09:20.780 every celebrity is silent really makes you think, huh? And this was a hilarious one from the Babylon

00:09:26.560 B ball distances self from Balenciaga. For those who don't know, ball is like a God of child sacrifice

00:09:32.940 or something. That's really funny. Babylon B, uh, moving on to the next one. This is not necessarily

00:09:38.420 a trash take from, from Holly Doan. She's the person who runs black locks reporter, which is 0.80

00:09:43.620 like a really, really great insider news, but she was promoting, uh, or sharing this poster at Carleton

00:09:50.340 university, talking about the journalists who are facing online hate. You got people from, uh,

00:09:57.860 Toronto star. You got people from the Hill times. You got Marco Mendocino there, you know, it's a,

00:10:04.020 it's an event grappling with the upsurge in targeted online abuse, facing journalists,

00:10:10.900 targeted online abuse. And of course I just commented, does this count as targeted online

00:10:17.300 abuse? This is the front page of Toronto star saying, I honestly don't care if they die.

00:10:23.540 You know, this is referring to unjabbed people. Here's another one, uh, clip surfaces of Trudeau 1.00

00:10:29.140 calling the unjabbed extremists, misogynists, you know, very dehumanizing name calling. This is

00:10:35.380 from Rachel Gilmore. Ask a family member if they're jabbed, uh, to determine basically if they should be

00:10:40.820 going to your Thanksgiving or not. Uh, like the implications of these articles are crazy. Um,

00:10:46.340 for this is from national post, more than one in four Canadians support jail time

00:10:50.100 for the unjabbed poll finds. Yeah. Does this, does this count as targeted online abuse?

00:10:55.620 I wonder, I wonder, I wonder why the Canadian public is, um, criticizing journalists. Maybe it's

00:11:04.100 because they're writing absolute trash. Maybe it's because they are contributing to the, uh, social and 0.99

00:11:10.900 public divide happening in Canada. Just a thought is this event that's being run? Is this event going to,

00:11:18.580 uh, you know, talk about like, is there going to be any accountability on the, on the behalf

00:11:23.460 of journalists? Like, are you guys going to talk about, could we be improving? Maybe, maybe there's

00:11:28.020 a reason, maybe there's a reason people hate us. Are you going to have any self self-reflection? No,

00:11:35.060 didn't think so. Anyway, thanks for watching and we'll talk to you soon. Uh, if you want to support

00:11:41.140 my work, there's a donation links below and love you guys.
