00:08:34.320 Mike, the last time we had you on here, we were talking about Media Matters, we were talking about Elon, we were talking about what could be done.
00:08:41.300 All of a sudden, it seems like Elon has been activated by this.
00:08:45.760 Do you think Media Matters has woke the dragon here?
00:08:49.240 Yeah, absolutely.
00:08:52.000 You know, there's like a funny scene in the Avengers where, you know, I think like the bad guy is saying, oh, we have an army.
00:08:58.520 You're so helpless.
00:08:59.460 And the response is, well, we have a Hulk.
00:09:01.080 And there's this strange situation right now where, you know, for the first time, we have a tech titan, a champion, a sort of neo who is the man in the arena who is, bless his soul, a principled man going after freedom.
00:09:20.600 And this is something that I think the censorship industry has never experienced before because everyone typically when the C-suite is pushed on by ad boycotters, they fold like a deck of cards.
00:09:35.560 This happened to Mark Zuckerberg when they were boycotted by the ADL and color of change in Media Matters to the tune of $60 billion in 2019 with the whole change the terms campaign, which was a campaign to get them to change the terms of service so that they would censor more.
00:09:53.980 Mark Zuckerberg had just given a speech in San Jose about how he was sick of censorship and didn't want to censor anymore.
00:09:59.120 But then when he got kicked in the piggy bank, he folded up very quickly.
00:10:05.040 And Musk seems to have adopted a fighting posture in terms of defending his principles and defending his platform that Silicon Valley I don't think has ever seen before in the face of ad boycotts.
00:10:17.820 And this could be the start of something very big.
00:10:20.580 So we've gone through and sliced and diced some of this.
00:10:24.240 I know you've looked at it as well, but when it comes to the actual data here and you've got ex-employees coming out as well as their officials saying that they looked into the data and it looks as though Media Matters, not only did they manipulate the algorithm, they actually created fake accounts to essentially create the system that gave them these ads.
00:10:45.480 Can you walk us through a little bit of that?
00:10:47.040 And why is it that when they're doing this, they're calling it research when I would call it a hoax?
00:10:52.340 Right. Well, that is the allegation.
00:10:55.420 Now, on the research side, this has been an intricately compiled rhetorical framing technique that has served the censorship industry for about six or seven years now to use research as a cloak for active operations.
00:11:10.360 This is something that the CIA used to do from the 1950s all the way to present day.
00:11:16.860 Many times when there's an active operation that clandestine services want to want to organize, they cloak it in academic front groups or in in research organizations that appear to have a passive rather than an active role in things.
00:11:30.840 Perhaps the best demonstration of this is actually on the finance side.
00:11:34.620 Sam Bankman-Fried, who was recently convicted on multiple felony counts for organizing the biggest crypto scam in world history, his firm was called FTX, but it was actually traded out of something called Alameda Research.
00:11:49.880 And he was asked in an interview once why he called his trading arm Alameda Research.
00:11:56.620 And he said, well, there's a funny backstory.
00:11:58.760 When we said that we were doing crypto trading and arbitrage, we couldn't get a bank account.
00:12:02.980 We were always held up on reviews.
00:12:05.300 We could never get approval.
00:12:06.500 So we decided, well, hey, if we just call it a research institute, every bank wants to serve a research institute.
00:12:11.980 So we basically fooled them by calling it research when it was active trading operations.
00:12:18.380 It's the exact same thing here with this Moten Bailey trick with what they do is they attack with activists, with operatives, with hitmen, with mass flaggers in order to economically coerce, pressure and break platforms or social media accounts or third party websites.
00:12:35.740 But then when they're attacked, they say, oh, it's research.
00:12:38.280 This is like the equivalent of, you know, an atom bomb going off and saying, oh, well, we were just researching.
00:12:45.020 We were just, you know, we were just Manhattan Project researchers.
00:12:49.380 But not only were they researching how to drop the bomb, they were, you know, they were the battle organizers of the whole operation.
00:12:57.560 And then the ones actually physically dropping the nukes over Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
00:13:01.640 This is a trick to hide what they're doing, and it's been totally exposed.

00:13:13.300 See, this idea that they're just, they're this, you know, non-partisan, non-biased researcher.
00:13:20.520 And then, of course, this is the same thing that they've used to set up shop at actual institutions around the country, or should I say former institutions?
00:13:29.460 I call them skin suits, or, you know, skin suiting is basically one of the favored tactics of these types of organizations,
00:13:36.660 where they will burrow their way into, say, Harvard University with the Shorenstein Center,
00:13:41.800 or the lab over at Stanford, the Internet Research Observatory.
00:13:47.520 These ideas that they're just, they're researching.
00:13:49.740 The Observatory, what a name, Observatory, as if it's, you know, this wonderful telescope,
00:13:55.140 the Galileo and Hubble and all of these different, you know, these different images they're trying to evoke,
00:14:00.240 when really what they're doing is they're censoring the Internet.
00:14:03.080 The Shorenstein Center, which I believe, by the way, actually went down in flames,
00:14:06.800 because half of their budget was going to Joan Donovan's Uber Eats account.
00:14:12.760 From what I'm told, I haven't been able to confirm those reports of Joan Donovan's Uber Eats account
00:14:17.780 eating up the entire, or at least half of the budget of the Shorenstein Center.
00:14:21.720 I don't know if you've heard, can you confirm that by any chance?
00:14:25.580 I've heard rumors, but that's a great point about the Stanford Internet Observatory,
00:14:29.760 because if they caught it the Stanford Air Force Base, they couldn't get $3 million in funding
00:14:35.360 from the National Science Foundation.
00:14:37.400 So, again, it's exactly what you just said, you know, with the term observatory
00:14:41.920 and Stanford Internet Observatory.
00:14:43.860 What that obscures is the fact that they weren't observing social media posts.
00:14:48.640 They were mass-flagging thousands of social media posts.
00:14:52.720 They were pressuring the tech companies that their government allies on the Hill
00:14:58.020 would break them up in antitrust or would serve them subpoenas.
00:15:02.340 They were inducing crisis PR through organized media campaigns.
00:15:07.080 And they were helping with the computational data sciences
00:15:10.340 to actually come up with the banned words and phrases.

00:15:16.680 This is, again, like a Death Star censorship superweapon.
00:15:19.700 If they called it the Death Star, they wouldn't exactly be the media darlings
