00:00:56.880 AmericaFest. Promo code POSO. I'll see you there. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard today's

00:01:02.240 edition of Human Events Daily powered by Turning Point USA. Today's top stories. Number one,

00:01:07.020 the Rittenhouse prosecutors claim a technological glitch in their evidence transfer. Yeah, okay.

00:01:12.460 Next up, Alec Baldwin's film Rust. The script never called for the gun to be fired, according

00:01:19.200 to a new lawsuit. We're going to get into that. Next, the CDC estimates that more than 100,000

00:01:24.880 Americans died due to drug overdoses in a one-year period during the pandemic for the first time.

00:01:30.980 And finally, Joey Reed and Liz Warren claim that gas prices are up to up due to secret plots that

00:01:37.340 are going on behind the scenes. All this and we're ahead, Human Events Daily.

00:01:40.420 Everything that's going on in this case is a complete, this isn't justice, but embrace it,

00:01:57.160 ladies and gentlemen. This is our new system. Videos where we can't find the source, a justice system

00:02:04.000 that brings charges even when we already have video evidence that fully exonerates the defendant,

00:02:10.020 this is our system. So listen now to DA Lunchbox as he literally, almost literally,

00:02:17.140 loses his lunch trying to explain why the defense team didn't get the original quality of the video.

00:02:24.960 The email from my personal Gmail account is the file that went to the State Crime Lab. I was told to

00:02:35.440 bring it to the State Crime Lab. I was already home on Saturday. I did not have access to anything but my computer.

00:02:43.560 I had Detective Howard email it to me and I put it on a thumb drive at home and I took it to the Crime Lab.

00:02:49.840 The, I don't know if Mr. Bigger somehow retitled it, but the image I gave the Crime Lab is on my phone as the title that she indicated.

00:03:01.960 Too heavily on, I guess, a technological glitch and less on the, and we should be focusing that this exhibit was played.

00:03:14.720 The jury is asking to see exhibits that they have seen.

00:03:18.060 So, Your Honor, we were talking during the break and the reality of it is one of the main portions of the video,

00:03:26.600 the thing that you watched however many times you watched it, on a video that we had the video, not the clarity and not the quality.

00:03:36.840 I think that's been conceded that we didn't have that.

00:03:43.840 We would, we were talking about, we would have done this case in a little bit different manner if that was the situation,

00:03:50.840 where we didn't have specific, and I want to say we didn't have the evidence because I don't think that's a fair way to say it,

00:03:57.840 but we didn't have the quality of evidence that the State had until the case had been closed.

00:04:03.840 On Friday, the parties had rested and we were going to open our closings on Monday.

00:04:08.840 We've talked to Mr. Rittenhouse and I'm going to be asking the court for a mistrial based upon the fact that if we're really trying to get to the heart of it,

00:04:21.840 we've watched the video, I can tell you what we think, but it doesn't matter what we think because we don't get to present that to the jury anymore.

00:04:29.840 And I think if we're going to try to do this in a way that is free from anybody hiding anything, anybody not having the same evidence as everybody else has,

00:04:41.840 where it is clearly a level fair playing field, we have to ask for this and I'm asking for it.

00:04:50.840 This is absurd. This is completely insane. This video, which has no chain of custody whatsoever.

00:04:57.840 People are trying to go through this black hole, trying to find where it came from.

00:05:01.840 They can't explain it. The defense wasn't given the actual video.

00:05:05.840 And I don't care about lunch boxes, explanations for this is excuse, excuse after excuse after excuse.

00:05:12.840 It was Binger's fault. It was the technology's fault. It was the phone's fault. It was anything other man up and take responsibility for what happened.

00:05:20.840 Yeah, you may not have intended it, but it happened on your watch. You're the state. The burden of proof, the burden of the evidence is on you.

00:05:29.840 You have to bring forward the evidence. And if you don't turn it over to the defense, then you are in violation.

00:05:36.840 It doesn't matter. He wouldn't be there at all. They would have looked at it and they would have made it go away.

00:05:41.840 They would have said, just have him pay a fine for the gun thing and, you know, send him on his way. Let the family take care of it.

00:05:50.840 But that's not how our country works anymore. The elites take care of their own and they punish.

00:05:56.840 The mask wearing Karens want to punish any deplorable peasant who might take up arms to defend themselves. 1.00

00:06:04.840 No, no, no. No, no, no. We can't have that. Only the elites are able to have power. Only the elites are able to maintain their monopoly on power. 0.68

00:06:14.840 And so you're seeing that through the media and through the workings of this prosecutor's office, the corrupt prosecutor here.

00:06:21.840 You're seeing all of that. And that's what Binger is saying with the whole state lines mantra.

00:06:26.840 He's not one of us. He's not one of you. He's not someone who's supposed to have power.

00:06:33.840 So put him away because this peasant, this nobody, this nothing, he thinks that he's got rights. 1.00

00:06:39.840 He thinks that he's got self-worth. He's nothing. He's a nobody. That's Binger. 0.99

00:06:45.840 Reject Bingerism in all of its forms. Every American citizen has rights.

00:06:54.840 Period. Full stop. End of story.

00:07:00.840 Alec Baldwin. You thought we were done with him.

00:07:02.840 Well, Human Events Daily is not done with Alec Baldwin.

00:07:05.840 We told you that we were going to stick to the story and we are.

00:07:08.840 And now it ain't just us that's talking about Alec Baldwin. It's Gloria Allred.

00:07:13.840 So if you don't know, and I think most people do, but in case you don't, Gloria Allred is an extremely powerful left wing liberal attorney. 1.00

00:07:22.840 She is someone that has put away and taken down a lot of big name figures throughout the course of her career.

00:07:29.840 Now she's got her sights targeted on Alec Baldwin. This is huge.

00:07:34.840 This is someone for if you're on their side, if you're on the left, you listen to Gloria Allred.

00:07:40.840 It is not hard. You know, for her, they're not going to say, oh, that's just Human Events.

00:07:45.840 That's just POSO. That's just, you know, I don't have to worry about that. No, no, no.

00:07:49.840 They're not allowed to ignore Gloria Allred. That ain't how the game is played. 1.00

00:07:54.840 That's not how the new rules work. So listen to what Gloria Allred had to say on behalf of her client delivering an extremely scathing, scathing press conference about Alec Baldwin. 0.88

00:08:05.840 In our opinion, Mr. Baldwin chose to play Russian roulette when he fired a gun without checking it and without having the armorer do so in his presence.

00:08:21.840 His behavior and that of the producers on Rust was reckless.

00:08:27.840 The fact that live ammunition was allowed on a movie set, that guns and ammunition were left unattended on a car and allowed to be handled by those who had no business handling them.

00:08:43.840 The fact that safety bulletins were not promulgated or ignored makes this a case where injury or death was much more than just a possibility.

00:08:57.840 It was a likely result.

00:09:01.840 And in addition to all that Russian roulette, a report out of Reuters, a crew member working on the Western movie Rust said in a lawsuit on Wednesday that the script never called for a gun to be fired during a scene that Alec Baldwin was rehearsing when he killed a cinematographer last month.

00:09:22.840 And this, of course, Gloria Allred's statement, he chose to play Russian roulette when he fired a gun without checking it and without having the armorer do so in his presence.

00:09:46.120 Mitchell, by the way, was in the line of fire, alleging assault, intentional infliction and deliberate infliction of harm and speaking unspecified damages in a lawsuit filed in L.A. Superior Court.

00:09:59.600 She said this wasn't that right.

00:10:01.480 So take it back a second.

00:10:02.600 Take it back.

00:10:03.220 Right.

00:10:04.140 I'm not even going to go into the rest of it right now.

00:10:06.820 Understand the difference between Alec Baldwin and Kyle Rittenhouse.

00:10:09.880 They want you to act as if it's like similar, some kind of similar situation.

00:10:13.340 Oh, he fired a gun.

00:10:14.220 He fired a gun.

00:10:14.840 No.

00:10:16.440 Context matters.

00:10:17.880 One is a person, a 17-year-old kid at the time, who was trying to do the right thing for his town that was then chased down by an angry, murderous mob who would have killed him.

00:10:28.000 And make no mistake, Kyle Rittenhouse's actions saved his own life that night.

00:10:32.640 Period.

00:10:33.120 Full stop.

00:10:33.660 End of story.

00:10:34.560 So all of this talk about reckless endangerment and I shouldn't have had the gun in the first place even though the gun charge was taken off.

00:10:41.640 Nothing to do with it.

00:10:42.380 Alec Baldwin, on the other hand, he's an actor on a movie set.

00:10:47.840 And there's no special rules for an actor on a movie set.

00:10:51.200 Oh, I was an actor.

00:10:51.980 Oh, you know, the armorer told me.

00:10:53.120 No.

00:10:53.340 Absolutely not.

00:10:55.760 It doesn't even matter under, and we talked about this before on the podcast, Human Events Daily covered this, that under New Mexico law, it does not matter.

00:11:04.960 Actually, it doesn't matter who loaded the gun.

00:11:07.160 What matters is who pulled the trigger, and who pulled the trigger was Alec Baldwin.

00:11:12.180 And he did so with reckless disregard for human life.

00:11:16.160 He did so with reckless disregard for the power of that dangerous instrument that he was wielding.

00:11:21.580 He didn't care about the people he was pointing it at.

00:11:23.780 He didn't care about the people who was standing behind.

00:11:26.480 And that's the person, this Mamie Mitchell, that we're hearing from today.

00:11:30.280 She was standing behind the victim in this case.

00:11:34.520 Because all of those people in the line of fire had that bullet, and we know, of course, obviously, it did go through and hit someone, it hit the director.

00:11:42.400 But it could have hit somebody else.

00:11:44.920 That's why when I came in and talked about this day after day, right after this story broke, and the whole mainstream media and all these people were saying, oh, he didn't mean to, it was an accident, it's a terrible situation.

00:11:56.820 No.

00:11:57.880 He's the one who was holding the gun.

00:11:59.880 He's the one who chose to play Russian roulette and take the word of someone that he didn't even see check the gun in his presence.

00:12:10.720 That is not just negligence.

00:12:14.200 That is recklessness.

00:12:15.780 And it shows a disregard for human life.

00:12:19.300 I've been using guns since I was 12 years old.

00:12:22.560 My entire adult life.

00:12:24.000 I was in the military.

00:12:24.680 I've received hours and hours and hours of gun training, tens of thousands of rounds on the range.

00:12:30.940 You learn the basic safety rules.

00:12:34.520 You go over them.

00:12:35.920 You state them once every day.

00:12:37.460 It's four.

00:12:38.060 They're not that hard to remember.

00:12:40.080 But you have to do that every single time you're handling guns.

00:12:45.180 Always assume your gun is loaded.

00:12:49.880 It's as simple as that.

00:12:51.420 And Alec Baldwin is unfortunately going to have to pay the price.

00:12:59.080 So thank you for continuing to support us, supporting the show.

00:13:02.160 Get, by the way, your Christmas order in.

00:13:05.020 Go to MyPillow.com.

00:13:06.520 You got the towels.

00:13:07.780 You got the dream sheets.

00:13:09.180 You got the pillows.

00:13:10.300 And of course, you've got the pillows for your kids.

00:13:12.640 You've got the Bible stories.

00:13:14.120 That's the one that we use.

00:13:15.360 We've actually got them.

00:13:16.200 Don't tell him yet.

00:13:17.020 But we got him a Noah's Ark one.

00:13:18.480 I know.

00:13:19.080 I know.

00:13:19.600 He's got the nativity story now.

00:13:21.740 We've got it.

00:13:22.080 So every night before he goes to sleep, he says, good night, Joseph.

00:13:25.900 Good night, Mary.

00:13:27.260 Good night, baby Jesus.

00:13:29.000 Good night, sheep.

00:13:30.380 And that's what he says every night before he goes to bed because he sleeps on that, on

00:13:33.460 the Bible pillow.

00:13:34.900 But we got him a Noah's Ark one for Christmas.

00:13:37.180 It's on its way.

00:13:38.500 It hasn't arrived yet.

00:13:39.400 But I'm so excited to be able to give it to him.

00:13:41.500 So go to MyPillow.com.

00:13:42.520 Use promo code POSO.

00:13:43.420 So these are the ways that we pass on our traditions.

00:13:46.480 And it's also, it's just a great way for you to sleep on yourself.

00:13:48.900 We do it.

00:13:49.680 We sleep on my pillows every night.

00:13:51.360 We just do.

00:13:52.340 My wife and I.

00:13:54.020 Next story.

00:13:55.380 More than 100,000 Americans died due to drug overdoses in a one-year period for the first

00:14:02.380 time in recorded American history, according to the CDC.

00:14:06.120 From Epoch Times, more than 100,000 Americans have died of drug overdoses in a 12-month period

00:14:11.560 ending in April, marking the highest number ever, a 28.5% increase over the previous year,

00:14:19.220 with the total number of overdose deaths doubling over the five-year recorded period.

00:14:25.160 What is the number one drug in all of this?

00:14:28.440 It's fentanyl, fentanyl coming from the CCP.

00:14:31.880 Listen to this report on CBS.

00:14:33.260 Tonight, a grim statistic.

00:14:35.000 One American is dying from a drug overdose every five minutes, according to the Office

00:14:39.980 of National Drug Control Policy.

00:14:42.300 The CDC estimates more than 100,000 Americans die from drug overdoses over a 12-month period

00:14:48.680 ending this April, a record.

00:14:51.060 That's nearly three times the number of deaths from traffic accidents last year, and more

00:14:55.760 than twice the number of gun deaths.

00:14:58.280 Darian Antwana House of Pensacola lost their 18-year-old son Rajon to an apparent drug overdose

00:15:04.560 in July.

00:15:05.420 It's hard to even put in words the difficulty of me going on without my son.

00:15:13.860 They blame the availability of the opioid fentanyl, which has sometimes slipped into other drugs

00:15:18.900 to increase potency.

00:15:20.240 Like what happened with our son, he didn't necessarily know what he was picking in.

00:15:26.760 He thought it was just normally what he does on the regular as a teenager.

00:15:31.280 But it's not just affecting those who choose to use.

00:15:34.380 Last month, an Alabama woman was arrested and charged after her one-year-old daughter allegedly

00:15:39.380 overdosed on her supply of fentanyl.

00:15:41.660 The baby was revived by paramedics.

00:15:43.740 There you go.

00:15:44.740 The pandemic has been, in many ways, a perfect storm.

00:15:47.400 Dr. Michael Barnett teaches health policy at Harvard University.

00:15:51.040 We have a lot of work to do to expand access to life-saving treatments like naloxone or

00:15:56.200 buprenorphine, which can really save lives in addiction, but are not widely available for

00:16:01.560 people that need them.

00:16:02.700 So there's a couple of things that we need to do here.

00:16:04.760 Number one, shut down the open-air drug markets. 1.00

00:16:08.880 Kensington in Philadelphia, parts of Washington, D.C., Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago,

00:16:16.460 New York, every major city has them, and you all know where they are.

00:16:20.740 Shut them all down.

00:16:21.920 And the people that are in there, that are trapped in addiction, chemical drug addiction,

00:16:28.260 you got to get them in rehab.

00:16:29.940 And I don't care what party you're in.

00:16:31.740 I don't care what side of the political spectrum.

00:16:34.580 Just cut the BS.

00:16:35.740 These people need help.

00:16:39.880 Get them off the streets.

00:16:42.620 Set up rehab centers.

00:16:44.980 Set up mental health rehab centers.

00:16:48.220 We need to go back to taking care of people who need help.

00:16:53.440 That is really what needs it.

00:16:54.880 And I get it.

00:16:55.620 I get that progressives have this like, oh, but it's their choice.

00:16:59.280 Stop.

00:17:00.360 Just stop.

00:17:01.880 The people need help, and they're not getting it.

00:17:03.800 They're lying on the street.

00:17:05.680 They're dying on the street.

00:17:07.460 Because you care about them?

00:17:09.320 No.

00:17:10.240 No.

00:17:11.260 Give them the help they need.

00:17:13.000 We need to refund and reopen public rehab centers and public mental health rehab centers in this country.

00:17:22.720 And when it comes to fentanyl, number one, close the border with the South, close that entire border, shut it down the same way Poland is doing when it comes to fentanyl. 0.79

00:17:34.120 Not a single drop should be getting across that border.

00:17:38.000 And number two, you go back, you sanction China, you find the people that are behind all of this, and you send in SEAL Team 6, and you take care of business. 0.81

00:17:47.360 And if they don't want to comply, well, that's what SEAL Team 6 is for.

00:17:52.620 You need to start taking this all seriously.

00:17:59.640 What's my favorite show on cable news?

00:18:02.400 I'm sorry, Tucker.

00:18:03.780 It's got to go to Joy Reid.

00:18:05.340 I love it.

00:18:06.060 I just do.

00:18:06.700 I love Joy Reid because she says the darndest things.

00:18:10.400 Listen to this last segment that I caught yesterday on Joy Reid's show where she's going on, and she's got Senator Warren, of all people, everyone's favorite Native American senator, Elizabeth Warren, talking about why the gas prices are up.

00:18:25.920 Now, you might be sitting there saying, well, gas prices are up because Joe Biden shut down when he became president.

00:18:31.200 He shut down the pipelines.

00:18:33.100 He restricted our supply.

00:18:35.180 He shut down exploration so that hurt the futures market, shut down drilling.

00:18:39.440 You might think, if you're looking at it from a basic economic standpoint, that that's what it is.

00:18:43.300 You know, I was just in Alaska earlier this summer of this year, and we went up to Prudhoe Bay, and those guys up there, they're all sitting around, and they want to go out and work and be drilling, but they can't because they can't get contracts because Biden is shutting it all down.

00:18:57.400 So you think that that might have something to do with why gas prices are going up right now, but no, no, no, no, no, no.

00:19:02.980 So, according to Joy Reid and Elizabeth Warren, it's secret plots behind the scenes.

00:19:08.400 Take a listen.

00:19:08.960 Here's another thing, because a lot of people are really upset about gas prices, but people weren't driving for a year, and somehow gas prices still went up.

00:19:18.140 There have been some calls to investigate these oil companies because, also, they don't really like Build Back Better either because it deals with their issues on the environment.

00:19:24.880 But how is it that when people stayed home for a year, suddenly the price of gas went up?

00:19:29.860 Can you explain that?

00:19:30.400 Yeah, yeah.

00:19:31.860 So, come on, Joy.

00:19:33.220 We know exactly who the oil companies, what the oil companies pay attention to, what is their number one priority, profits.

00:19:42.900 And so, think about it this way.

00:19:45.020 If we really, this were just ordinary inflation, we might see prices go up, but prices at the pump have gone up.

00:19:52.620 Why?

00:19:53.020 Well, let me give you a hint.

00:19:56.420 Chevron, Exxon have doubled their profits.

00:20:01.500 This isn't about inflation.

00:20:03.820 This is about price gouging for these guys.

00:20:07.060 So, I get it.

00:20:09.900 When we see prices go up, we're all concerned and want to come in and just try to hammer on one theme about this economy.

00:20:19.300 But we've got to pay attention to the fact that folks like the oil companies say, I think it's just another opportunity to make profits, and we need to call them out on that.

00:20:28.420 This is hilarious.

00:20:29.440 I'm sorry.

00:20:29.780 This is like the kind of statement you make when you don't understand what economics is, and you just, you know, oh, it must be some secret plot, and they're trying to do this, and they're trying to do that.

00:20:40.880 And look, look, I get it, right?

00:20:42.620 I get it.

00:20:43.600 You know, obviously, oil companies, the same as other companies, every other company, right, that's out there, want to make money.

00:20:49.480 Yeah, duh, that's why they're in business.

00:20:52.620 But when you restrict your own supply, when you go after fracking the way this president has, when you shut down Alaska the way this president has, when you refuse to even look at any other energy resources or any ways for America to be at the Permian Basin or the Marcellus Shale, et cetera, et cetera, in this country, then yes, it's basic supply and demand.

00:21:14.260 Demand is going up, and supply has been artificially restricted.

00:21:19.400 Like, you don't need a PhD in all this to figure out what's going on, right?

00:21:24.840 It's very simple.

00:21:25.780 It's very simple, actually.

00:21:27.320 And so there are lots of ways that we could be powering our country.

00:21:30.200 I'm a big proponent of nuclear.

00:21:32.020 I think the Gen 4 nuclear is the way of the future.

00:21:34.500 I think that's what we absolutely need right now.

00:21:36.440 But you've got Biden, of course, going over to Xi Jinping and asking him to release his strategic reserves.

00:21:42.060 Of course, Taiwan is probably going to be given up in that deal, like we talked about yesterday.

00:21:46.720 And you've got these people on MSNBC literally just spreading conspiracy theories rather than actually look into the mechanics of it. 1.00

00:21:54.060 Folks, our country is once again run by stupid idiots. 1.00

00:21:58.100 Sirs and ladies of the land, this is all the time we have on Human Events Daily. 1.00

00:22:03.400 I'm so sorry to see you go.

00:22:05.520 I've enjoyed this time that we spend together every day.

00:22:08.140 But, of course, my motto to you, my promise, my solemn oath to you, be good, be brief, be gone.

00:22:15.020 And if I broke my word, if I broke my oath, well, then I'd be a communist.

00:22:22.360 So the moral of today's story, the same as the moral of every story, folks, don't trust communists.

00:22:39.220 Today's moment of history before we go.

00:22:41.600 The Jonestown mass suicide took place today.

00:22:45.520 Today is that solemn anniversary.
