00:00:00.000 Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard today's edition of Human Events Daily powered by Turning
00:00:06.220 Point USA, the first show of 2022 officially. Top stories today. Well, a CCP spy ring has been
00:00:13.860 caught stealing monoclonal antibody research all the way back in 2015. We're going to break it
00:00:21.320 down next. A Seattle Antifa militant has been criminally charged as well as tied to MS-13.
00:00:27.400 Yes, that MS-13. Third, half a million new users have joined Getter after Joe Rogan and Dr. Malone
00:00:35.160 signed up for the app. And finally, a Hollywood consultant has admitted that Glee started the
00:00:41.780 wokeness epidemic and Human Events has the story. All this in Warhead, Human Events Daily.
00:00:45.300 Well, a former GlaxoSmithKline scientist has pled guilty on Monday to conspiring to steal trade
00:01:04.660 secrets from the drug manufacturer to benefit a Chinese pharmaceutical company that has ties to
00:01:11.480 the CCP. Yes, this one comes all the way from my own backyard, suburban Philadelphia, Upper Marion,
00:01:19.180 Malvern, PA, GlaxoSmithKline. Now, they are a British pharmaceutical company, but they have massive
00:01:24.480 research and development facilities just outside of Philadelphia. And that is specifically where the
00:01:29.460 CCP spy ring. And this is, by the way, the third spy that they found there was caught. Now, this one has
00:01:36.200 pled guilty. There are other cases that are ongoing. Here's the description. We have this from Reuters by
00:01:41.460 way of the Department of Justice. We're here today to announce three separate cases highlighting the
00:01:47.060 ongoing threat posed by Chinese economic espionage and research theft in the United States. First,
00:01:55.120 the arrest today of a Harvard University professor for lying about his participation in a Chinese foreign
00:02:01.680 recruitment program. Second, this morning, we have unsealed a separate indictment of a Chinese national
00:02:08.040 working as a scientific researcher at Boston University who failed to mention on her visa
00:02:13.580 application that she is also a lieutenant with the People's Liberation Army. Finally, this office has
00:02:19.820 indicted another Chinese national for trying to smuggle vials of biological material out of the United
00:02:26.340 States to China and lying about its federal investigators. Lucy Shi, 44, entered her plea in
00:02:32.660 Philadelphia court, becoming the fourth person to admit wrongdoing in connection with a scheme
00:02:37.600 to misuse GSK's trade secrets to benefit Reno Pharma, which receives financial support from the
00:02:44.000 Chinese government. Sentencing is going to come out. The case was announced back in 2016 and is among
00:02:49.120 several the Justice Department has pursued in recent years amid heightened concern about Chinese theft of
00:02:54.420 U.S. trade secrets. Now listen to some of the details. According to the indictment, from 2012
00:02:59.820 through 2016, she and another GSK scientist, Yu Xie, stole confidential information about GSK products
00:03:08.160 that were under development and provided the data for use for Reno Pharma. So Reno Pharma is that CCP
00:03:13.620 controlled company back in China. Prosecutors say that Xie, along with co-defendants Tao Li and Yan Mei,
00:03:20.400 created Reno Pharma in Nanjing, China to market and sell the stolen information
00:03:25.800 as its own research to obtain patents for their versions of Reno Pharma's products. And you have
00:03:32.060 to understand what's going on. Now one of the items, and we are told, that was stolen from them was
00:03:37.900 research that GSK here in the United States was conducting into monoclonal antibodies all the way
00:03:44.920 back into 2015. Now, I think we realize by today the importance of monoclonal antibodies and really
00:03:53.120 how monoclonal antibodies has become one of the most ubiquitous treatments, of course, for COVID-19.
00:04:00.240 So all the way back in 2015, the CCP was working with people, was working with these government-backed
00:04:08.820 entities to come to the U.S. to steal this biomedical research, to target facilities like GSK in the
00:04:15.140 Philadelphia area for their spy rings to go after this stuff. And so my question is, do we understand
00:04:20.880 what's going on? And are we even going to take this a little bit seriously? But here's the problem,
00:04:25.300 right? Here's what happens. And I've seen this time and time again over the past 10 years. And even
00:04:30.040 when I was in the intel community focusing on this problem set, is we treat this like a law enforcement
00:04:36.220 problem. What do I mean by that? They'll say, okay, well, we caught three of them. We're going
00:04:40.600 to put these three away. We're going to indict them. They're going to go to jail. They're going
00:04:43.880 to have to pay their fine, et cetera. And that's going to be it. But the question is, they're not
00:04:47.720 looking at it as a criminal activity. They're looking at it as an espionage activity. What is the
00:04:54.680 FBI doing to actually go after? By the way, this is the real purpose and the real job of the FBI.
00:05:00.740 It's not to go after the Meemaw, MAGA Meemaws, right, from January 6 and all the other stuff
00:05:06.500 that's going on, you know, going in and infiltrating these militia groups to, you know,
00:05:11.240 entrap people and everything else up in Michigan. No. We want to know what's going on in terms of
00:05:16.700 counterintelligence. Are you actually doing anything about the CCP spy rings? Okay, great. You caught
00:05:22.420 some guys that were stealing stuff back in 2015. Wonderful. That's three people. Where did they come
00:05:27.260 from? Where did they get their orders? Who else was in their network? Who were their handlers? Who
00:05:30.980 were they talking to? Are you conducting any research into that? Or as we've typically seen
00:05:36.480 with the DOJ and FBI, they narrowly focus on arresting a few people. They put, you know,
00:05:41.800 they get a couple of guys in bracelets and they say, well, case closed. Now it's off to go do some
00:05:47.080 political stuff and we've got to go mess with some conservatives. This is the problem right here.
00:05:52.660 This is the problem of our day. You've got CCP spy rings operating throughout the United States
00:05:59.120 and only once in a while do we ever see the FBI taking any action against them.
00:06:07.420 Well, folks, I always wanted to say thank you so much for continuing to support our show,
00:06:11.860 to support the work we do right here at Human Events Daily. By the way, thanks to you,
00:06:16.760 we were closing out the year. As we were closing out the year, we went and looked at Apple Politics.
00:06:20.660 We closed out 2021 as the number two podcast on all of Apple Politics. So thank you so much for
00:06:27.320 your support. And by the way, if you want to continue your support, you go to MyPillow.com,
00:06:31.100 you use promo code POSO, you get the towels, you get the slippers, you get everything else,
00:06:35.060 the fantastic items. Look, I know that some people got MyPillow stuff for Christmas,
00:06:39.180 but if you're feeling a little bit jealous, if you're feeling a little bit left out,
00:06:42.500 if you've got MyPillow FOMO, then go to MyPillow.com, use promo code POSO,
00:06:48.100 and treat yourself. Just treat yourself. You deserve it. Check it out. But we're going to get
00:06:54.060 into this next story to someone who also is getting what they deserve. A Seattle Antifa
00:06:59.000 militant has been criminally charged and her past ties to MS-13 have been revealed. This is
00:07:07.460 completely insane. But folks, we are going back to everyone's favorite location, my favorite
00:07:12.920 location, of course, from the summer of 2020, the CHAZ, the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, yes,
00:07:19.420 and the Seattle Police Department's East Precinct. Now, last spring, in the spring of 2021,
00:07:24.920 there was sort of a revanchionist push, if you will, where the militants of Antifa in Seattle
00:07:33.140 were actually trying to retake the CHAZ. What happened during that period? Christina V. Devitt,
00:07:39.300 a 34-year-old, according to Postmillennial, according to a 34-year-old Antifa militant from
00:07:44.420 Seattle, Washington, pled not guilty to criminal charges on Monday. She was charged after allegedly
00:07:49.740 causing significant damage to the Seattle Police Department's East Precinct last spring. What did
00:07:55.740 she do? She posted, she pushed and rolled a large dumpster directly into the garage doors of the East
00:08:02.620 Precinct during violent demonstrations. While doing that, she inhibited officers' abilities to
00:08:08.420 effectively respond to emergency calls directly impacting members of the community in critical
00:08:13.240 situations. So, she was locking the garage door, so if any police vehicles were trying to get out of
00:08:18.440 the precinct, essentially, to go and respond, not only to the protests, but God forbid, if there were
00:08:24.220 911 calls or some crime were happening anywhere in that specific vicinity of the precinct, well,
00:08:30.080 they wouldn't be able to come because she allegedly had put this dumpster in the front of it.
00:08:34.520 But listen to this person as they go out and the unhinged ranting that exhumes from them.
00:08:40.740 If you don't know the story, all of you can help because you have one thing on her.
00:08:49.700 Listen, my handsome brother and sister, quick, quick, as if you want a slavery day in your country,
00:08:59.260 ask your border and say that you're serious about it.
00:09:02.520 So, I went out to Chaz in 2020. I spent time there day and night with my brother. We were out there
00:09:10.680 for almost an entire week. And something that we saw that occurred at night in the Chaz, because
00:09:17.220 how did the Chaz get, you know, established in the first place? Well, that was because the mayor at the
00:09:21.980 time, Mayor Jenny Durkan, she had ordered this same precinct, by the way, that we're talking about here,
00:09:26.880 to completely abandon their posts. The police left and Chaz was essentially turned over to the mob.
00:09:34.660 Well, it wasn't just turned over to the mob, though, because protesters were the ones who started
00:09:39.220 it. But then eventually criminal gangs came in at night because they realized, hey, if the police
00:09:44.320 aren't here, we can go there and do crimes. Right. And so we saw drug gangs that were coming in at night
00:09:50.480 that were doing deals and that were working out in the open. It was kind of like a season of the
00:09:54.780 wire. And here's something that's very interesting that I don't know if people would know. I mean,
00:09:59.240 you think Seattle, you're thinking Pacific Northwest, you're thinking one of the major cities
00:10:03.000 up there. You're not necessarily thinking that this place would be a hub for MS-13. But listen to
00:10:08.880 this. The same Antifa militant, this Christina Devitt, all the way back in 2003, testified as a
00:10:15.940 prosecution witness in a murder trial involving MS-13, one of the world's most brutal street gangs
00:10:22.100 internationally known for their violence and their firm murders. Devitt testified that she was at the
00:10:29.100 home of MS-13's Joel Soto Rodriguez when he and two other gang members, Freddy Dominguez and Rahel
00:10:36.200 Perez Maya, abruptly left a party to take care of a dispute with a rival gang in White Center, a suburb of
00:10:44.440 West Seattle. A bystander that witnessed the confrontation named Margaret Emmett, who tried to
00:10:49.300 make peace between the two groups, who was shot and killed by Perez Maya during an exchange of
00:10:54.500 gunfire. Both Perez Maya and Dominguez pled guilty to second degree murder. The jury found Soto Rodriguez
00:11:00.620 guilty of first degree murder after it was determined that he had supplied the other gang members with
00:11:06.820 firearms and encouraged them to carry out violence against rival gangs. This is where this individual,
00:11:13.700 Christina Devitt comes from. This is where somebody who is now a very prominent member of Seattle
00:11:19.960 Antifa, that was the same group that's responsible for the establishment of the CHAZ, the violence we saw
00:11:26.020 there, the murders that we saw in CHAZ, the ones that, by the way, have still not officially been
00:11:31.440 solved. They are cold cases at this point, but they are still open on the books of the Seattle Police
00:11:36.620 Department. So Christina Devitt, you were helpful in this murder case all the way back in 2003. So are you
00:11:42.900 going to do the right thing? Are you going to come forward now and testify who was it that committed
00:11:48.460 the shootings in CHAZ in 2020? That may be your best way out of this.
00:11:57.060 Well, for weeks now, I've been telling you guys about the new platform Getter. This is a platform
00:12:03.640 out there that I've been using for a while. I've been encouraging people to get on. And I said,
00:12:07.540 what did I say? I said, Twitter is censoring more and more and more. They are swinging the
00:12:12.860 banhammer left and right over there. You never know which day could be your last. And the same
00:12:18.260 is true, of course, for Facebook, where they have admitted in court that their fact checks are not
00:12:22.720 fact checks. They're really just their opinions. So this isn't a question about who's right or who's
00:12:27.300 wrong, who's factual or who's unfactual. It's about who gets to talk, who gets to have a voice in the
00:12:34.020 digital public square of our time. Well, Getter is a way to establish your presence and to have
00:12:39.920 a lifeboat away from that world. And I got to tell you, my engagement's really up on Getter lately.
00:12:46.080 I've been posting there a lot more. I'm certainly going to be putting this podcast on Getter. And a
00:12:50.400 huge shout out to everybody that's been following Human Events Daily on Getter and is listening to it
00:12:56.300 having clicked on the link from Getter right now. Listen to this headline. Over half a million new
00:13:02.460 users have signed up on Getter just this week after Joe Rogan and Dr. Robert Malone joined the
00:13:10.040 platform. Now, what happened? The whole saga, and I think some people have seen this and I understand
00:13:14.460 it. So Dr. Malone, who was a guy that is credited for being, you know, he says that some people say
00:13:19.900 he's the inventor of the mRNA vaccine. Other people say that he contributed to it. But the fact of the
00:13:25.420 matter is the guy has an extensive resume doing research into mRNA. And he was absolutely there at the
00:13:32.100 very time that these types of treatments were created. He was one of the founding fathers of
00:13:38.220 mRNA as a vaccine and as a treatment as well. He goes on Joe Rogan. The day that they record their
00:13:44.140 interview, he gets banned from Twitter. Then the interview drops and it goes super viral across the
00:13:51.400 entire internet, specifically on Twitter. And there was one clip that got millions and millions of views
00:13:56.960 where he was talking about something called mass formation psychosis. Take a listen.
00:14:01.340 From basically European intellectual inquiry into what the heck happened in Germany in the 20s and
00:14:08.040 30s, you know, very intelligent, highly educated population, and they went barking mad. And how did
00:14:14.380 that happen? The answer is mass formation psychosis. When you have a society that has become decoupled
00:14:22.880 from each other and has free-floating anxiety in a sense that things don't make sense, we can't
00:14:29.780 understand it.
00:14:30.500 So Rogan, after all that, decides, look, if Twitter's going to go and suspend Malone, then I'm going to go
00:14:37.540 on Getter because that's where Malone went. So Rogan goes on Getter. Then Tim Pool's going on Getter.
00:14:42.440 Steven Pinker's on Getter now. You're getting all sorts of people. Brett Weinstein, Eric Weinstein from
00:14:46.240 the IDW are going over there, right? You are now getting a flood of people. And then, of course,
00:14:51.700 with Rogan and his podcast, and just really, it became this sort of snowball kind of moment
00:14:56.020 where it's not even so much about just the fact that it was Rogan. It was just this idea that the
00:15:01.280 floodgates opened and people said, you know what? It's time to go out and do exactly what I've been
00:15:06.700 saying day in, day out here. We're going to establish our presence. We're going to make a lifeboat.
00:15:11.600 We're going to go to a new place. We're going to be safe from these arbitrary judgments. And by the
00:15:17.040 way, Getter has a terms of service, too. And I saw some people that were complaining about that, and
00:15:20.940 they say, well, hey, man, you know, Getter is not just this and that and everything else. Look, Getter has
00:15:26.220 a terms of service. You have to have a terms of service if you're going to be on the Apple Play Store
00:15:31.080 or the Google Play Store or the Google App Store. It is what it is. It is what it is. You need to be able
00:15:37.540 to play by the rules. But at the same time, what they're saying is as long as you follow the terms
00:15:43.000 of service, they are not going to be arbitrary bans from what Twitter would call this like
00:15:47.840 community guidelines kind of thing or this crap about you've operated multiple accounts. Like,
00:15:53.640 yeah, like, OK, I have an account for, you know, my that's my personal account. I have an account for
00:15:59.120 this show. I have, you know, my wife has signed into my account. You know, there's there's multiple
00:16:03.920 accounts going on and we share them. I don't want to get that by an issue. Of course, that's not what
00:16:08.860 Twitter actually cares about. What they actually care about is, again, as I said before, who is
00:16:13.980 allowed to wield sovereignty over freedom of speech in the public square? So now over half a million
00:16:20.140 people have gone on there. Who else? Dinesh D'Souza is on there. You got Rogan. You got Malone. They
00:16:26.300 also banned on Twitter Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene because what did she do? She shared information
00:16:32.060 from the VAERS database and she had a question about it and they banned her on Twitter and they
00:16:37.200 said, well, you've crossed your, you know, you've broken the three strikes rule or whatever that is.
00:16:42.220 They keep coming up with these arbitrary things to become as reasons to just knock off people that
00:16:47.240 they don't like. So Getter is absolutely weeping, reaping, reaping the windfall of this. And so
00:16:55.300 make sure you go there and sign up. So we talk about wokeness a lot. And last week I interviewed
00:17:04.840 James Lindsay, Dr. James Lindsay, and we talked about the academic underpinnings of wokeness. Where
00:17:10.340 did this come from? How is it that it infected seemingly our entire society, right? All the way
00:17:16.360 through, through our news institutions, through corporate America, literally through the military.
00:17:22.060 How did all of these ideas just suddenly permeate our entire culture here in the West? Did it all
00:17:29.020 come just from these rogue academics at some fringe conferences back in the 1980s? I mean,
00:17:34.980 in all seriousness, right? If you're, you're, you're not Dr. James Lindsay, maybe James is listening to
00:17:39.000 this. So James, you're listening. This doesn't apply to you, but to everybody else, have you actually
00:17:43.040 tried to sit and read a critical race theory academic paper? It is gobbledygook. It is completely
00:17:50.360 insane. It is ridiculous. Nobody is sitting and reading these things and saying, ah, yes,
00:17:55.820 this is what I'm going to base my entire life around. No. And so I've always said that there's
00:18:02.560 something that's missing a little bit from the story about where critical race theory came,
00:18:07.760 how it became to have so much influence in our society. Where did wokeness come from? How did that?
00:18:13.920 And so the social justice movement become so incredibly large, so incredibly fast.
00:18:18.140 And then I got a phone call from somebody who's a human events writer and they told me something.
00:18:24.460 They said, Poso, do you remember the TV show called Glee back in the mid 2010s? I'm like,
00:18:32.420 Glee? Yeah, I remember Glee. You guys remember Glee, right?
00:18:35.540 I am going to create an environment that is so toxic.
00:18:39.920 So it was the show that was out there and it was this sort of proto woke kind of thing.
00:18:44.700 And a lot of this stuff actually stems, it turns out, from Glee. But what people don't realize is
00:18:49.740 that show at one point had over 30 million viewers. Many of them, by the way, were in high
00:18:58.060 school. Many of them were teenagers. They were in their prepubescent years in some cases.
00:19:03.000 They were the younger millennials who are watching this stuff. And this was one of the first times that
00:19:07.460 they ever came into contact with identity politics. Well, this contributor, Bill Harrell,
00:19:12.500 he found a Tumblr post where one of the main fans, the leaders of this, you know, it's called the
00:19:18.900 fandom, the online fandom on Tumblr, who is now a Hollywood consultant, of course, admitted that
00:19:25.180 this is actually where one of the biggest starts of the influence of wokeness came from in the 2010s.
00:19:32.800 And look what she wrote. We fought its wars until it was too late, until it was nothing but a distorted
00:19:38.620 parody of reality, a cracked mirror. You asked for history. There's no history. It's only a gray face
00:19:45.740 telling you to destroy yourself. It's not history. It's blood. Listen to this. You have no idea where
00:19:51.080 the suffering came from. You don't know where the discourse started. Where do you think the word
00:19:55.380 problematic came from? Where do you think the representational anger came from? It came from
00:20:02.640 glee. And it came from the toxic fandom surrounding glee. So go to humanevents.com. Check out this,
00:20:10.700 this article. And so I was tweeting about this. And I saw some people were a little hesitant. They
00:20:14.500 were like, really? Glee is where all this started from? I say 100%. I think that that hit at a time,
00:20:19.700 keep in mind, this is pre-Netflix when this show comes out. Massive, massive reach, massive,
00:20:25.340 massive influence, probably one of the last big broadcast network TV shows prior to really the
00:20:31.620 advent of streaming. And it also hits at a time that social media is becoming ubiquitous. You get
00:20:36.980 social media, you get wokeness or proto-wokeness of glee, and you get this massive amount of push
00:20:43.240 behind it from, of course, the Fox TV network. Ladies and gentlemen, here's my other question to test
00:20:49.100 the theory. If you had any friends who were super fans of glee, super fans of glee, are they still
00:20:54.080 friends with you now? Well, ladies and gentlemen, that's all the time we have for Human Events Daily
00:20:57.940 today. Remember our motto to you, be good, be brief, be gone. This is the cliff notes of your
00:21:04.440 news day. This is where we are giving you all the news you need to know faster than anybody else with,
00:21:09.380 you know, a little bit of a little bit of analysis, maybe some humor, maybe a little acerbic wit
00:21:14.140 that's thrown in. But one thing that we always do before we leave you is we give you a moment of
00:21:20.280 history. Today's moment of history, January 5th, 1933, the Golden Gate Bridge began construction.
00:21:27.980 Probably the most famous bridge in the entire world. A fine example of American ingenuity in a
00:21:34.460 city that is now lost due to wokeness under the influence of shows like Glee and everything else
00:21:40.300 that was being pushed in terms of political correctness throughout the 90s. An amazing city
00:21:44.640 and an amazing feat of what Americans can do when they put their shoulder to the wheel.
00:21:51.240 Ladies and gentlemen, as always, you have my permission to lay ashore.
