00:01:42.780 to the group called the Jane Collective from the 1960s and 1970s. What was the Jane Collective?

00:01:57.080 pregnant women during the time period where abortion was illegal in the United States years and years ago.

00:02:46.400 family center. And they put out a statement claiming credit for it. I want to read to you

00:13:49.820 of millions of dollars in payments that also flow the other way. What do you mean the other way?

00:14:02.860 funding sent to Wuhan? Remember, it wasn't direct. The NIH wasn't directly sending money to Wuhan.

00:14:51.300 it looks, according to this new Open the Books report, it wasn't just a one-way flow of money

00:14:56.540 to the grantees. It looks like it was actually a two-way flow. There were royalty payments from

00:15:05.800 third-party payers back to the NIH and individual NIH scientists. Open the Books estimates that between

00:15:15.880 fiscal years 2010 and 2020, more than $350 million in royalties were paid by third parties to the

00:15:25.020 agency and NIH scientists who are credited as co-inventors. Co-inventors. Oh, that's nice.

00:15:32.280 Because those payments enrich the agency and its scientists, each and every royalty payment could

00:15:37.720 be a potential conflict of interest and needs disclosure. But here's what's amazing. When you

00:15:43.020 actually look into this, and Andrzejewski has spoken about this publicly, when you actually try

00:15:47.880 to figure out who made the payments coming back, it's blacked out. That's redacted even in the FOIA

00:15:55.780 documents that were released by NIH. So he's found an entirely new stream of money that was going

00:16:02.220 not out to places like EcoHealth Alliance that were then subcontracting out, subcontracting the work

00:16:09.100 for their gain-of-function research. And yes, it was gain-of-function research into Wuhan.
