00:00:00.000 Well, ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard today's edition of Human Events Daily powered by Turning Point USA.
00:00:06.420 Today's May 13th, 2022 and a note dominate.
00:00:09.320 Today's headlines, vacation has been canceled for the Chicago Police Department after nearly 1,000.
00:00:16.200 Yeah, that's right. 1,000 cops quit last year.
00:00:18.840 Second, the Biden administration canceling Alaskan oil and gas lease sales.
00:00:24.180 Third, Rep Kamek stating that illegal migrants apparently are receiving pallets of baby formula, but American people can't find them.
00:00:32.360 And finally, Elon Musk's Twitter deal temporarily on hold over allegations of fraud.
00:00:38.800 All this more ahead, Human Events Daily.
00:00:50.080 Every time you have a press conference, you say crime is down.
00:00:53.080 The economy is booming.
00:00:55.420 Well, that's not true, but get your question, sir.
00:00:59.020 Across the street, we had a police officer on duty, the victim of a hit and run.
00:01:04.120 We have Michigan Avenue, the magnificent miles now referred to as the mile of fear.
00:01:10.100 The water tower place has thrown the keys back to the lender.
00:01:14.660 They say they don't want to be in Chicago anymore.
00:01:16.500 Well, I disagree with you fundamentally, and I don't think I need to address any and dignify your comments one second further.
00:01:25.880 And folks, just wait till Memorial Day and our summer.
00:01:29.840 It will be the summer of joy in Chicago.
00:01:32.760 Well, there's Mayor Lightfoot saying, don't worry about a thing.
00:01:36.400 Crime is actually down, apparently.
00:01:38.100 Crime is actually down, according to our statistics that we made up based on what we want the headline to be, rather than what's actually happening on the ground in the streets of Chicago.
00:01:49.240 Well, that's interesting, because if crime is down, then why do I see headlines like this at Zero Hedge?
00:01:54.240 Vacation canceled for Chicago PD after nearly a thousand cops quit last year.
00:01:59.980 Understand what's happening here.
00:02:01.260 It's very simple.
00:02:02.280 The defund the police movement has led to two things.
00:02:05.740 Number one, the persecution of police in this country.
00:02:10.420 People whose jobs is to enforce the law and then go out on a regular basis, go into the streets to fight crime, right, and then are demonized for it.
00:02:22.420 They're criminalized.
00:02:24.360 They know that one wrong move, and if you get caught on a deceptively edited viral video, that's the end of your job.
00:02:33.960 It might even be the end of your freedom.
00:02:35.860 If some trumped-up DA wants to throw you behind bars for doing your job or for following your standard protocol and standard issue, your SOP, standard procedures, understand.
00:02:51.360 This situation is going to lead to more crime.
00:02:55.040 It's very obvious what Mayor Lightfoot is doing here.
00:02:58.540 She is what they call juke in the stats, right?
00:03:01.020 She's juke in the stats, and she's making a situation where they're claiming crime is down because they're finding, you know, they're classifying more things as crime, and then they say that comes down, or they change the definition of what's a crime and what isn't.
00:03:14.320 They report it differently.
00:03:15.120 It's very simple.
00:03:16.180 But we can see what's going on in our cities.
00:03:18.040 It's not just Chicago.
00:03:19.320 It's across the country.
00:03:20.360 And look at this.
00:03:20.980 According to local ABC7, CPD has increased staffing levels at times in recent years after especially high crime weekends, but typically canceling just one day off across ranks.
00:03:31.920 According to the police department order, the upcoming holiday will require that officers work straight through their regularly scheduled days off.
00:03:39.480 John Costanza, president of the Chicago Fraternity Roller of Police, said,
00:03:42.780 The escape from this job and the tragic things we see on a daily basis to be able to go on vacation or even just spend time with your family at a barbecue, it's a decompression time that is sorely needed.
00:03:53.700 The notice comes as data reveals more officers left the Chicago Police Department than joined in 2019 and 2020, with 900 leaving last year versus just 51 who joined the force.
00:04:09.200 This is the wages of the defund the police movement.
00:04:15.100 You're going to get more crime.
00:04:16.900 You're going to get more murder.
00:04:18.820 You're going to get more less cops who are more overworked, which means if you do end up having mistakes, if you do end up having issues, it's because the force is being stretched thin.
00:04:30.060 And this ain't just going on in Chicago.
00:04:32.000 It's across the country in every major city.
00:04:35.340 And can you blame them, by the way?
00:04:36.560 Can you blame them for leaving the force when they see mayors like this and they see DAs like that who are trying to go after you to make their career off of putting you behind bars for doing your job?
00:04:50.580 So who loses out in this?
00:04:52.300 It's obvious who loses out in this.
00:04:53.980 It's the people who live in the cities.
00:04:57.460 And that's why, look, I've sat on this program and I still stand by this.
00:05:00.980 Get out of cities.
00:05:02.340 Just get out.
00:05:02.940 The violence is completely, I saw a video from Philadelphia the other day, only about 10 miles from where my parents live, right, right down the street.
00:05:13.920 There's a gas station, guys going up, 30 years old, father, filling his car up with gas.
00:05:20.780 Another car pulls up behind them at the gas station.
00:05:23.480 Two guys pop out with guns, one with a handgun, one with, hard to tell in the video, but it looks almost like an AK-47, and just start open firing at the guy.
00:05:33.640 Start open firing, guy goes down dead.
00:05:36.760 They take his car.
00:05:38.340 They killed him to take his car.
00:05:41.360 Didn't need to, but it happened anyway.
00:05:43.720 That's Philadelphia.
00:05:44.560 And you can only imagine what the body count is going to be in Chicago this weekend.
00:05:51.280 This is a horrific situation.
00:05:53.800 Our cities are completely out of control.
00:05:56.540 But don't worry, because we're sending $40 billion overseas.
00:06:02.940 So it finally happened.
00:06:04.720 Tanya and I finally finished our first case of Good Ranchers.
00:06:09.020 And now we've got to figure out what should the next case be, because we're looking at it, right?
00:06:16.020 Now, she wants more of the fish.
00:06:18.760 Like, she loves the salmon.
00:06:20.040 She said, I want more fish.
00:06:21.360 That's what I want to get in there.
00:06:22.240 Me, I'm like, I want the beef.
00:06:23.480 I want steak.
00:06:24.380 I want those burgers.
00:06:25.780 I want, you know, a little bit of chicken.
00:06:27.280 We'll do some chicken just to have it, you know, because you don't want, you don't want the same thing every night.
00:06:31.220 I feel like you get the same thing every night.
00:06:32.700 It becomes, you know, a little bit routine.
00:06:34.680 So, you know, switch it up a little bit.
00:06:36.260 Get in some of those pre-trimmed, the pre-marinated chicken breasts.
00:06:39.260 But then the main thing that I love is the steaks, the ribeyes, the T-bones, the New York shrimps.
00:06:43.700 Prime upper choice beef.
00:06:45.700 Highest quality.
00:06:46.860 And from Good Ranchers, you know it's going to be 100% American meat sourced from local American farms.
00:06:52.080 The thing that's great about Good Ranchers is it is steakhouse quality delivered right to the Posobiec home with Good Ranchers.
00:06:57.880 Takes all the guesswork out.
00:06:59.200 But, of course, we've got to jostle back and forth to figure out which one that we want to get.
00:07:03.800 So you guys let us know in the comments, what do you think we should get in our next Good Ranchers case?
00:07:09.440 And if you want to know what they have, go to GoodRanchers.com slash POSO.
00:07:13.280 It's going to be right here in the description of the episode.
00:07:15.620 That's GoodRanchers.com slash POSO.
00:07:17.940 You get $30 off and free express shipping.
00:07:21.420 So check it out.
00:07:22.220 Go in the comments.
00:07:23.440 Look at, you know, tell us what you want to get.
00:07:24.960 And then when you go, check out the website.
00:07:27.000 It's right there in the description.
00:07:28.840 GoodRanchers.com slash POSO.
00:07:30.640 Good Ranchers, American meat delivered.
00:07:35.320 First of all, we are looking at opportunities to make up for lost gas, LNG, from Russia.
00:07:45.780 We're underway of trying to see what we can do to do that, dealing with our friends around the world as well.
00:07:52.320 We think we could make up a significant portion of it that would be lost.
00:07:57.740 And it happened again.
00:07:59.300 The Biden administration has just canceled the sale, the lease of a one million acre property of federal land in Alaska to be used for oil, gas and energy exploration and drilling.
00:08:12.720 This is the same administration, and Postmillennial has a story, that signed an executive order shortly after taking office directing the Department of the Interior to pause new oil and gas leasing on public lands and offshore waters concurrent with a comprehensive review on the federal oil and gas program.
00:08:31.240 Furthermore, President Biden suggested on Monday that oil companies should be taxed on leases on federal land that they are not using to presently drill for oil.
00:08:39.740 They're blaming oil companies for the rise in gas prices, which is ridiculous because it's very clear what's going on.
00:08:48.540 And there's one thing that you'll never hear from the mainstream media.
00:08:52.500 You'll never hear this from the Biden administration.
00:08:55.320 But we'll tell you because this is how it works.
00:08:57.560 So they'll come out and say, well, the issue is supply, right?
00:09:00.800 The issue is these gas companies and they're they're gouging and they're raising the prices and they could be doing this.
00:09:05.960 But no, no, no, no, no, no, not what's happening.
00:09:08.200 You're missing a key point here.
00:09:11.780 And I was in Alaska last year and I went up there to Prudhoe Bay and I met the people that work on the rigs.
00:09:18.260 I saw the oil rigs.
00:09:20.600 But you know what I saw?
00:09:21.660 I didn't see.
00:09:22.440 I didn't see them drilling.
00:09:23.760 They were sitting around.
00:09:25.100 They were waiting to come online.
00:09:27.320 So why aren't you online?
00:09:28.760 Why aren't you guys working?
00:09:29.580 Don't you want to say that?
00:09:30.320 We want to work.
00:09:31.320 We want to get out there.
00:09:32.260 But here's the problem.
00:09:34.660 Even if you have a lease, you still need your environmental approval to go out there and actually start drilling.
00:09:44.340 That's the key component that the Biden administration is not mentioning.
00:09:48.840 Right.
00:09:49.140 You have to go through the EPA and then you better believe that you're going to get sued by whatever green group is out there that's trying to stop you from doing what you're doing.
00:09:58.340 If you want to talk about Russia, by the way, we know we've seen this in the reporting that Russian gas companies were funding green groups here in the United States and across the West.
00:10:08.900 And that is in their interest, isn't it?
00:10:10.920 Because they want Russian gas to be sold on the open market, the world market, at a higher rate.
00:10:17.340 And they want to prevent the United States from coming online as an energy exporter like we were under the previous administration.
00:10:25.320 Basic supply and demand stuff is really, really simple.
00:10:28.760 So if you're someone out there that doesn't like what you're seeing in Ukraine right now, which obviously we don't like what we're seeing in Ukraine, understand that the financing for that comes from the sale of oil and the sale of gas to Europe and the fact that they're able to sell it at confiscatory rates.
00:10:49.620 Well, if we've got a situation right here in Alaska where we can go and drill our own oil and drill our own gas in these lands and look, I think Alaska is beautiful.
00:11:00.000 Alaska has amazing natural parks, national parks.
00:11:02.960 They have glaciers.
00:11:03.960 They have mountains.
00:11:05.040 It's incredible.
00:11:06.340 But not all of Alaska looks like that.
00:11:08.660 A lot of these areas that they're talking about, you're talking about muddy, oily, greasy, you know, acres and acres of land that does not look like, you know, something that would be in a nature documentary, right?
00:11:23.600 It's it's tundra, essentially.
00:11:25.800 And what's crazy to me, too, is that when we went up there last year and I forget this, we're driving around and we see the pipelines.
00:11:32.540 We see the Trans-Alaska pipeline and then as we're going, we see caribou, we see caribou and muskox just walking around the pipeline, grazing, having a good time.
00:11:43.420 And I said, did you guys set this up?
00:11:45.360 Did you guys know that Posobiec was going to be coming by and you've got them in like the back of a van or something and you're pushing them out saying, hey, let him see some of the animals.
00:11:52.880 That'll be fun.
00:11:53.900 You know, get the guy on the walkie talkie or something.
00:11:55.520 They said, no, they're out here all the time.
00:11:58.140 I said, why?
00:11:58.980 Because they like the warmth from the pipeline.
00:12:01.300 And it's actually something that they really enjoy because it's not so warm up here.
00:12:05.180 Obviously, it's Alaska.
00:12:07.240 Folks, Alaska is ours for the taking.
00:12:11.860 Invade Alaska.
00:12:13.160 Occupy Alaska.
00:12:14.420 Don't worry about invading the rest of the world or getting involved in these foreign wars, the bloodlands of Eurasia.
00:12:20.220 You don't need to be sending $40 billion over there.
00:12:22.580 We could be making billions of dollars right here in our own country, a little area called Alaska.
00:12:29.700 And while we're at it, while we're at it, I wouldn't mind looking at Greenland as well.
00:12:33.640 However, it may be that you shop and you are seeing bare shelves and you are seeing signs that you are not able to get baby formula.
00:12:46.580 And then you see the American government sending by the pallet thousands and thousands of containers of baby formula to the border.
00:12:57.540 Crazy story from my friend, Congresswoman Kat Kamek, also a friend of Turning Point USA, of course, where she's gone down to, and I guess it's this border migrant processing facility near the U.S.-Mexico border.
00:13:19.360 So we're all sitting around trying to figure out what's going on with the baby formula.
00:13:25.700 And we're asking these questions.
00:13:27.360 Why is it that we're sending $40 billion to the war machine as opposed to feeding our own children here in the United States?
00:13:37.740 And Congresswoman Kamek has made an incredible discovery.
00:13:40.820 She says, and she's got pictures of this, pallets upon pallets of baby formula at the Ursula Migrant Processing Center in McAllen, Texas, and she's posting it to her Facebook and her Twitter.
00:13:53.640 And she's saying, what's going on?
00:13:55.880 Why is this that we're sending baby formula to illegal migrants rather than make it available for the people here in our own country where we live?
00:14:08.400 And here's the situation.
00:14:11.800 I talked about this yesterday.
00:14:14.080 Our government's job is to define what is good for the American people and then to act upon that basic measure of goodness.
00:14:25.140 That's called the social contract.
00:14:26.640 But the social contract becomes broken when your government exists to enrich the people who are in the government itself or their family members.
00:14:37.240 Hi, Hunter Biden.
00:14:39.480 So when you have this situation and you say, what's going on here?
00:14:45.200 Why is this such a basic need, one of the most basic functions, right?
00:14:50.020 Being able to feed your own children.
00:14:52.180 It's emergency, obviously.
00:14:53.440 It's a crisis, of course.
00:14:55.900 But it seems as though America's priorities are completely out of whack.
00:14:58.960 So I saw an interesting tweet, by the way.
00:15:02.400 Someone was talking about this.
00:15:03.800 And then John Legend, of course, pops up and says, oh, I thought you guys were pro-life.
00:15:08.780 You're pro-life, but you don't care about the illegal migrants coming across.
00:15:13.820 To which I say, you have no idea what you're talking about, do you?
00:15:17.680 So many of those kids that are coming across, they're being trafficked across by criminal cartels.
00:15:26.340 Criminal cartels that are using them, in many cases, as drug mules to come across.
00:15:31.860 They're getting paid to do that.
00:15:34.620 You think the kids have any choice in what's going on, especially if they're an infant?
00:15:37.660 It's ridiculous, obviously.
00:15:39.680 But you don't seem to care about that.
00:15:40.780 You have to actually understand the situation to dig into this stuff.
00:15:46.620 Being pro-life doesn't mean you're stupid.
00:15:49.440 But apparently John Legend, that's not really much of an issue for him.
00:15:52.800 Because he wakes up and says, oh, tweet away.
00:15:56.920 The issue here is really simple.
00:15:58.700 It's really, really simple.
00:16:00.060 We care so much.
00:16:02.080 Americans are the most generous people on the face of the planet.
00:16:06.440 Study after study, report after report shows this.
00:16:08.600 But resources in the world are finite.
00:16:15.600 It's just a fact of the matter.
00:16:18.640 That's reality.
00:16:20.120 So how do we allocate these resources?
00:16:24.380 Well, the government of the United States, it's as simple.
00:16:28.520 You should exist for the betterment of the people in this country.
00:16:33.020 What they're doing, though, is they're trying to be all things for all people.
00:16:36.920 And here's the problem.
00:16:37.700 What's going to happen specifically as relates to the border?
00:16:41.020 You cannot have both open borders and a welfare state.
00:16:45.560 You can really only do one or the other.
00:16:48.040 Because if you have a welfare state, everybody's going to want to get in.
00:16:52.160 And then you're going to go broke trying to be everything for everyone.
00:16:55.640 But if you have open borders, what's going to happen?
00:17:01.280 You're creating a false negative incentive structure.
00:17:05.100 People are going to be flooding across.
00:17:07.300 And then you've got outside groups that are also making money off of that.
00:17:11.780 This NGO archipelago, as Dave Reboi talks about it, the corruption that goes in through there, the corruption of the border cartels that are bringing people across, trafficking children, trafficking women.
00:17:23.100 But we don't care about it.
00:17:25.460 And on top of all that, they're the ones that we're directing the baby formula to, not to the babies of the United States.
00:17:33.360 If, in this case, you are not successful in, you know, the board does not accept your offer.
00:17:41.880 You've said you won't go higher.
00:17:43.220 Is there a plan B?
00:17:48.060 There is.
00:17:48.800 I think we would like to hear a little bit about plan B.
00:18:00.860 For another time, I think.
00:18:03.040 Another time?
00:18:03.920 Yeah.
00:18:04.200 All right.
00:18:09.660 That's a nice tease.
00:18:11.180 All right.
00:18:11.440 So probably one of the biggest news stories you'll hear today.
00:18:16.240 Elon Musk.
00:18:18.140 And we've been talking about this individual for a long time.
00:18:22.320 Is he going to buy Twitter?
00:18:24.040 Will he follow through and restore freedom of speech to the public square?
00:18:29.840 Because we've been talking about this.
00:18:31.320 I've been talking about this idea of public squares for a while now.
00:18:34.620 We talked about it all earlier this week when I was talking about Pizza Hut, right?
00:18:38.840 They said, Pizza Hut, what does that have to do with Twitter?
00:18:40.420 Go with me on this.
00:18:41.380 Go with me on this.
00:18:41.900 All of the places within the country, within the world, where we used to have those meaningful moments of community, whether they be at a pizza parlor or a video game arcade or a main street or a shopping mall back in the 80s and 90s, those are all online now.
00:18:59.940 All of those places where you used to have that meaningful connection with people, they don't exist in the real world because we've been so atomized by consumerism, by multinationals, by the Internet, whether you want to call it the Great Reset.
00:19:15.380 That's something really – I think the Great Reset is actually a symptom of the information age, and it's something that people are trying to do to exploit the information age rather than move us towards a more humanity-first, people-first approach.
00:19:27.500 That's a different story.
00:19:28.880 But the Internet is here to stay as the new public square.
00:19:34.620 And Twitter, for better or worse, is the public square in terms of the marketplace of ideas and the marketplace of freedom of speech.
00:19:43.500 The problem is the company of Twitter.com, Twitter Inc., has destroyed freedom of speech, not just in the United States but everywhere that Twitter operates.
00:19:54.020 So what do you do?
00:19:55.280 Elon Musk has said, let's take it private.
00:19:57.940 Should we trust Elon?
00:19:59.100 I don't know.
00:20:00.300 A lot of ties to China, a lot of ties to the CCP.
00:20:02.460 Can he get it done?
00:20:05.320 I don't know.
00:20:06.700 A lot of challenges in the way, a lot of roadblocks.
00:20:11.300 Incredible vested interests want to prevent freedom of speech.
00:20:16.040 Think of it.
00:20:16.700 Twitter has done more in the last five or six years to destroy the credibility of the mainstream media than any other force on the planet.
00:20:25.680 And, of course, it's not Twitter itself.
00:20:26.880 It's the people going on Twitter, right?
00:20:28.460 But it's their ability through Twitter, Marshall McLuhan, remember the medium is the message, to go in and actually fight back.
00:20:36.060 So what has Musk said?
00:20:36.800 And this gets back to what Bannon was talking about just a couple of weeks ago.
00:20:39.920 And Bannon took a lot of flack for saying this.
00:20:42.340 We brought it up on the show.
00:20:44.060 We gave both sides.
00:20:45.840 Bannon said Twitter is overvalued.
00:20:47.500 There's a lot of fraud there.
00:20:48.900 There's fake.
00:20:49.980 Fake bots, fake traffic, everything else.
00:20:52.160 Now, Elon Musk has come out and said, we are temporarily putting on hold the deal, pending details, supporting calculation that spam or fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users, Musk wrote.
00:21:06.560 Now, that's part of due diligence.
00:21:07.980 But the question is, what will happen next?
00:21:10.400 Because the stock, based on this news, is plummeting.
00:21:15.220 So the question then becomes, will he pull the deal and then come back on a discount?
00:21:20.200 The executives are being fired.
00:21:21.560 We're starting to see people let go.
00:21:24.660 But if there's any indication, we are in for more of a roller coaster, a lot more ups and downs before this deal is going through.
00:21:32.620 And we have freedom of speech restored.
00:21:37.380 And that is it for this week of Human Events Daily.
00:21:40.820 This has been an incredible week for us.
00:21:42.920 I want to let you guys know, I'm very sad to say that today, for those of you watching on the video, this will be the last day that you get to see the Communist Cures mug.
00:21:50.880 That's right.
00:21:51.940 We're going to have a little bit of a different set when we come back.
00:21:53.920 We're going to be on the road for a little bit of time here coming up.
00:21:57.880 We've got a special operation that I can't really tell you guys about yet.
00:22:01.740 But stay tuned because it's going to be very interesting.
00:22:03.900 Going to make a little bit of news.
00:22:05.400 But you'll see it when it comes out.
00:22:06.940 So remember, our promise are with our solemn body.
00:22:09.320 You be good, be brief, be gone.
00:22:10.660 Your homework for us.
00:22:11.360 Share this out with one just one of your own friends and leave us your five star review.
00:22:14.780 Apple, Spotify, wherever you get your podcasts.
00:22:16.800 What do we talk about today?
00:22:18.200 Vacation canceled.
00:22:19.060 Chicago PD after nearly a thousand cops quit.
00:22:21.860 The Biden administration canceling Alaska oil and gas leases.
00:22:25.940 Rep Kamek talking about illegal migrants receiving pallets of baby formula.
00:22:30.060 And finally, Elon Musk potentially pulling the deal on Twitter.
00:22:34.520 The deal is going to be on hold.
00:22:36.700 But before we go, it's time for today's history break.
00:22:40.780 You know, I was looking at this story today and I realized that because I'm from the Philly
00:22:43.980 area, I know about this, but not many people do.
00:22:47.500 1985, May 13th, that's today.
00:22:51.040 The move bombing.
00:22:53.080 And here's how it's written up.
00:22:54.420 The destruction by the Philadelphia Police Department on the orders of the mayor,
00:22:58.180 Wilson B. Good, of a residential home occupied by the MOVE organization, right?
00:23:04.480 They were trying to serve warrants on this organization.
00:23:07.300 Couldn't get it done.
00:23:08.220 What do they do?
00:23:08.960 They dropped a bomb from a helicopter, burned down 53 homes, row homes in the city of Philadelphia,
00:23:17.720 killed six adults, killed five children.
00:23:21.360 Completely insane.
00:23:23.540 And this is prior to Ruby Ridge, prior to Waco.
00:23:26.960 This is some of the crazy stuff that was going on.
00:23:29.360 But for some reason, people don't know about this story as well as they know the others.
00:23:33.880 Understand.
00:23:35.260 Our history will be doomed to repeat it.
00:23:37.260 Ladies and gentlemen, as always, you have my permission to lay ashore.
00:23:39.780 We'll see you then.
00:23:42.240 Thanks for listening.
00:23:43.160 We'll see you next time.
00:23:51.360 Bye.
00:23:51.700 Bye.
00:23:52.820 Bye.
00:23:55.580 Bye.
00:23:57.960 Bye.
00:23:58.420 Bye.
00:24:01.680 Bye.
00:24:02.040 Bye.
00:24:04.080 Bye.
00:24:04.440 Bye.
00:24:05.020 Bye.
00:24:05.340 Bye.
00:24:05.560 Bye.
00:24:06.220 Bye.
00:24:08.000 Bye.
