00:00:00.000 Hey guys, it's Jack. I wanted to let you know that we're starting a new push for subscriptions
00:00:06.860 here on Human Events Daily. So make sure that when you're listening to this podcast, you
00:00:11.980 hit subscribe, you download it, and you share it with five of your friends. Make sure they're
00:00:17.420 all going and downloading as well, because we need to get the signal out as much as possible.
00:00:22.660 Look, we've done so much over the past couple of years since this show started, and we're
00:00:26.840 only going to do so much more. Let's get it.
00:00:56.840 Would you send the National Guard or ICE to voting locations in November?
00:01:01.840 Would you do that?
00:01:02.840 Well, you know what?
00:01:03.840 I put anything necessary to make sure we have honest elections.
00:01:06.840 We have to have honest elections.
00:01:08.840 So you're not doing that?
00:01:10.840 So quick question, Mr. President.
00:01:12.840 This month is considered to be the month of Africa.
00:01:15.840 On May 25th, we'll be celebrating Africa Day.
00:01:18.840 Would you mind doing something special, like 10-minute interview,
00:01:21.840 a minute interview to speak about your views on the Africa
00:01:25.440 Huntsman.
00:01:27.440 He said, sea fire is all life support.
00:01:32.440 He's present to the process to bring it back to life.
00:01:36.240 Well, we'll see what happens.
00:01:37.340 We're going to have a great meeting in China.
00:01:39.740 He's a wonderful guy.
00:01:40.740 He's a friend of mine.
00:01:41.540 And we're going to have a great meeting.
00:01:42.740 We do a lot of business with China.
00:01:44.240 We do very well with China.
00:01:46.440 And they do well with us.
00:01:48.240 The relationship is very good.
00:01:51.240 We are going to have a great season.
00:01:52.580 What a chance to do with the Iranian.
00:01:54.940 Whatever he can do to help the right.
00:02:09.100 The end of the war in Ukraine, I really think it's getting very close.
00:02:12.420 What's your argument?
00:02:13.760 We're trying to invest a trillion dollars in the U.S.
00:02:16.840 We're trying to invest a trillion dollars in the U.S.
00:02:21.140 When you're negotiating with Iran, Mr. President,
00:02:23.640 to what extent are American financial situations
00:02:26.740 motivating you to make a deal?
00:02:28.940 Not even a little bit.
00:02:30.380 The only thing that matters that I'm talking about Iran,
00:02:33.460 they can't have a nuclear weapon.
00:02:34.820 I don't think about American financial situation.
00:02:38.660 I don't think about anybody.
00:02:39.860 I think about one thing.
00:02:41.560 You cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon.
00:02:44.460 That's all.
00:02:45.740 That's the only thing that matters.
00:02:46.860 What is more broken, NATO or OPEC?
00:02:56.860 Well, OPEC is having some difficulty right now because one of those things, but that has nothing to do with me.
00:03:03.860 NATO was very disappointing to me.
00:03:06.860 NATO was not there when we wanted them.
00:03:09.860 We don't need NATO. We don't need NATO.
00:03:11.860 But if we did need them, they just weren't there.
00:03:16.860 Do you think President Xi can help and continue to do a deal with the RAND?
00:03:22.140 President Obama Jr.: He could. I mean, it might be.
00:03:24.140 I don't think we need any help with the RAND, to be honest with you.
00:03:27.180 They're defeated militarily, and they'll either do the right thing or we'll finish the job.
00:03:35.020 They're either going to do the right thing or we're just going to finish the job.
00:03:46.860 as you embark on this summit,
00:03:48.860 that we're going to have a great relationship
00:03:50.860 for many, many decades to come.
00:03:52.860 My relationship with President Xi is a fantastic one.
00:03:56.860 We've always gotten along, and we're doing very well with China.
00:04:00.860 And working with China has been very good.
00:04:02.860 So, I'm looking forward to it.
00:04:04.860 As you know, President Xi will be coming here
00:04:06.860 toward the end of the year, so that will be exciting.
00:04:09.860 I only wish we had the ballroom finished.
00:04:12.860 The ballroom is right on budget and ahead of schedule.
00:04:15.860 But I wish we had to finish it off.
00:04:18.660 You also may want to do one other thing.
00:04:20.860 You may want to go see the reflecting pool,
00:04:23.860 because that's under construction.
00:04:25.860 And for the first time since 1922, it's going to work properly.
00:04:29.860 We're on the gas tax in Congress.
00:04:45.860 You've got one of the great oil finds anywhere in the world,
00:04:50.200 and you're not using it.
00:04:51.400 You're not allowed to use it.
00:04:53.400 And it's one of the best in the world,
00:04:55.000 among the best oils in the world.
00:04:56.900 Open up your oil in the North Sea
00:04:59.400 and get tough on immigration.
00:05:01.700 The President Trump has been very, very hurtful.
00:05:05.920 It's all over here.
00:05:06.920 The President Trump has been very, very hurtful.
00:05:08.520 That's up to him.
00:05:09.820 But I told him from day one,
00:05:11.960 you're getting killed on energy.
00:05:13.420 the windmill in your country to death.
00:05:15.920 Open up the North, we have one of the greatest
00:05:18.800 sources of energy in the world.
00:05:20.800 Open up the North.
00:05:21.800 President Trump, should state governors,
00:05:25.300 should state governors drop taxes on oil?
00:05:28.140 Would you ask them to do that?
00:05:29.240 I think it's a great idea, Mr. President.
00:05:31.980 Can we ask you two questions?
00:05:34.200 Two, can there be any understanding
00:05:38.180 between you and Putin
00:05:39.720 that Russia should get entire Donbas?
00:05:42.580 Mr. President, you have a standing invitation to travel to Russia.
00:05:47.580 Do you think it might happen this year?
00:05:50.580 The President, I mean, I will do whatever is necessary.
00:05:53.580 That war, I've settled eight wars.
00:05:56.580 That war is getting closer.
00:05:58.580 Believe it or not, it's getting closer.
00:06:00.580 And we think we're going to end up getting a settlement between Russia and Russia.
00:06:04.580 Mr. President, what is the ultimate goal of your trip to China?
00:06:09.580 I think more than anything else,
00:06:11.220 there's a massive relationship with China,
00:06:13.620 with the two superpowers.
00:06:15.780 We're the strongest nation on Earth in terms of military.
00:06:19.520 China is considered second.
00:06:22.060 Who knows?
00:06:22.900 I mean, who knows?
00:06:23.520 But we are.
00:06:24.100 There's nobody even to come close.
00:06:26.560 And you see that whether it's Venezuela
00:06:28.400 or whether it's Iran.
00:06:29.900 Iran's military is decimated.
00:06:33.540 I have a great relationship with President Xi,
00:06:36.800 and I think it's going to remain that way.
00:06:38.400 We have a lot of things to discuss.
00:06:41.300 I wouldn't say Iran is one of them, to be honest with you,
00:06:44.140 because we have Iran very much under control.
00:06:47.280 We're either going to make a deal
00:06:48.980 or they're going to be decimated.
00:06:50.320 So, one way or the other, we win.
00:06:52.620 We're going to be talking about,
00:06:55.980 we're going to be talking with President Xi
00:06:57.580 about a lot of different things.
00:06:59.260 I would say more than anything else, we'll be trading.
00:07:02.260 The Pressure, did you say earlier
00:07:06.020 that the only thing that matters to you
00:07:07.500 when it comes to Iran as a nuclear weapon.
00:07:09.260 You're not considering the financial impact
00:07:11.700 of this war on Americans?
00:07:13.340 The most important thing by far,
00:07:17.040 including whether our stock market,
00:07:19.080 which, by the way, is at an all-time high,
00:07:22.580 but including whether or not our stock market
00:07:24.920 goes up or down a little bit,
00:07:26.960 the most important thing by far is
00:07:29.320 Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
00:07:32.100 What about Americans and prices right now?
00:07:35.400 How concerned are you about Americans?
00:07:37.500 How they're feeling about what they're paying for food and...
00:07:40.480 The President, are you listening to that?
00:07:41.640 Every American understands, and they just had a poll,
00:07:46.340 like 85 percent, which is surprising, it's only that,
00:07:50.180 they understand that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.
00:07:53.520 If Iran has a nuclear weapon,
00:07:55.760 the whole world would be in trouble.
00:07:57.680 Because they happen to be crazy.
00:07:59.620 They're not going to have a nuclear weapon.
00:08:01.600 Now, if the stock market goes up or down a little bit,
00:08:05.220 The American people understand it.
00:08:06.980 When it's over, you're going to have a massive drop
00:08:09.660 in the price of oil, which a lot of people thought
00:08:11.620 would be higher.
00:08:12.900 I mean, it was $199 yesterday, which is low,
00:08:17.260 which is relatively low.
00:08:19.260 When this war is over, oil is going to drop,
00:08:22.500 the stock market is going to go through the roof.
00:08:24.980 And truly, I think we're in the golden age right now.
00:08:27.580 You're going to see a golden age like we've never seen before.
00:08:31.380 The minute it's announced, I'll be the one to announce it
00:08:34.340 because I'm the one that makes that decision.
00:08:36.600 I could leave right now, and it would take them 25 years
00:08:40.320 to rebuild their country, but I don't want to do that.
00:08:43.340 I want to have it complete and total.
00:08:45.480 Are you ready?
00:08:46.560 As soon as this war is over,
00:08:48.520 you're going to see numbers like you've never seen.
00:08:52.620 Stop it! Stop the pushing! Stop it!
00:08:55.260 The Pressure of the President
00:08:56.460 I know how much you value your voice.
00:08:58.340 Are you comfortable with people building in the military
00:09:01.760 if they personally oppose the Iran war for you?
00:09:05.200 The President, I'm happy about it.
00:09:09.060 I live with a lot of different people.
00:09:12.000 The President, I'm not resistant to this.
00:09:15.880 The voters who are confused about the changing maps,
00:09:19.440 the changing dates,
00:09:21.020 are the African Americans concerned
00:09:22.740 that this is going to draw a black camera
00:09:24.220 to Congress off the map?
00:09:25.720 What do you say?
00:09:26.520 The President, I think it's been a wonderful process.
00:09:28.920 They've been the Democrats, or as I call the Democrats,
00:09:32.520 because they are dumb so many ways.
00:09:34.860 They've redistricted for years.
00:09:37.300 And now we took our shots,
00:09:38.560 and it looks like we're going to pick up a lot of seats.
00:09:41.060 And that's a good thing.
00:09:43.940 We want voters to have their choice.
00:09:46.040 We want fair voting.
00:09:47.140 We want fair elections.
00:09:48.700 The Democrats have been cheating on elections for many years,
00:09:52.940 and all we're doing is winning.
00:09:54.180 Thank you.
00:09:58.920 All right, folks, so there we just saw President Trump as he departs for Marine One.
00:10:16.160 He's about to take off there from the South Lawn of the White House on his way en route to Air Force One.
00:10:23.360 We're going to be getting you that live shot and that live feed as soon as we can.
00:10:27.920 With President Trump, they are departing for this historic summit in China.
00:10:33.440 Xi Jinping, the Beijing boardroom, bringing with him these leaders of industry.
00:10:39.120 Of course, you remember us here, Human Events Daily, the China Files, which we put together so many years ago.
00:10:45.520 I want to remind everyone to go and get those.
00:10:47.660 I'll post the link again.
00:10:49.060 You can, of course, search for it on our feed.
00:10:52.100 Just look up China Files.
00:10:53.560 You'll be able to find the entire thing.
00:10:55.300 I wanted to also bring on, of course, I am remiss for not saying.
00:11:01.860 Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard today's edition of Human Events Daily here live May 12, 2026.
00:11:08.340 And, oh, Dominic, I want to bring in our first guest, Xi Van Fleet, the author of Made in America.
00:11:14.960 Xi, how are you?
00:11:16.380 Okay.
00:11:17.060 Thank you so much for having me.
00:11:18.500 tell us your thoughts as president trump prepares to sit down with the uh another another member
00:11:26.480 or someone who shares a similar surname xi jinping in beijing no it's a different my name is
00:11:31.940 his is a family name and uh and a different characters i know i hate to be associated with
00:11:38.640 him but uh similarly in english yes yeah please tell us how you um how you see this trip and how
00:11:48.360 you what you hope to see from the sit down i um first of all i really uh wish a safe trip
00:11:57.220 for our president i am concerned i'm really concerned about his safety and with all this
00:12:03.940 uh cabinet members and important people with him and uh and i'm sure it will be okay and i don't
00:12:10.940 know what to expect out of it but one thing i know that despite of what trump said about
00:12:16.760 Xi Jinping being his friend and whatever, he knows who he's dealing with.
00:12:22.320 I have full confidence that Trump will get what he wanted and he would not just trust the CCP.
00:12:33.480 And he had experience with them.
00:12:36.540 And also, I think it's very, very important that we're not just talking about CCP.
00:12:41.560 We're also talking about communism.
00:12:43.080 And I believe that Trump is our only president who understands the threat and danger of Chinese communism.
00:12:53.600 And I think that we have to deal with it because it is now a major power.
00:12:59.000 But I think he knows what to expect.
00:13:03.280 That means no trust.
00:13:05.160 You can't trust them.
00:13:06.380 They were signed anything and they were promised anything, but we know that they're not going to carry through.
00:13:18.380 And that's exactly right, because we see what's going on.
00:13:21.760 The CCP now is being put in a vice grip because they need the oil.
00:13:26.620 They need the oil from Iran. They need the oil from Venezuela.
00:13:29.720 But President Trump has cut that off from Venezuela.
00:13:32.920 And then, of course, the Strait of Hormuz, the leverage position that China offers potentially there could be very, very huge for them.
00:13:42.480 And they are going to have to offer some kind of concession to the United States in order to receive that.
00:13:49.400 That's why President Trump has set up this situation while he's going to sit down with Xi Jinping.
00:13:55.340 People said, why don't you finish it before him?
00:13:57.260 Because it puts them in a bad position to make a deal.
00:14:00.860 I absolutely agree.
00:14:02.120 And also I think that both of them understand, she's being on the stand.
00:14:06.040 It's not about Iran and it's about China.
00:14:09.000 And everything Trump has done since his second term, it's about China.
00:14:15.320 From tariffs to Greenland to Panama, you know, it's all about China.
00:14:20.440 He knows it.
00:14:21.560 And now with straight Hormuz not opening, who suffered?
00:14:27.400 They, they absolutely.
00:14:28.920 So they are in the position of weakness and we are in the position of strength.
00:14:36.260 And that's where you're able to come in and say, look, we know you have some reserves.
00:14:40.940 We know you have some help.
00:14:41.840 But ultimately, their economy, because of the Chinese economy slowdown, because of the decoupling that President Trump is already working on in terms of tariffs,
00:14:51.520 that has been a way to put the pressure further and further towards the Chinese Communist Party.
00:14:58.500 by saying, look, if you don't have that full employment, and Xi Van Fleet, you know better
00:15:03.260 than anyone, what is the ability of the United States to decouple? What would that do to undercut
00:15:09.720 the leverage and the influence of CCP in their own country? Yeah, we already see it. And this
00:15:16.340 is not being reported widely. China is in shambles. And the stories we hear from inside China
00:15:27.400 is that economy is so bad and there's a lot of business closing and the people i know who were
00:15:35.280 complained that you know just a few years ago they complained there's no more bonuses and today
00:15:40.860 they'll complain they're worried about their jobs there are so many people losing their jobs and
00:15:46.340 young graduates from college have no jobs and they all they wanted is a job that pays
00:15:53.180 3,000 yuan a month, which is like $600. And they can't even get that. And everything is
00:16:04.100 just really in disarray. And I really think there's a lot of problem with still a lot of
00:16:11.780 elite here. They refuse to see the reality. They still see China as strong. And I just heard
00:16:18.560 an interview with this political science professor of Chicago University named Robert Pape. I think
00:16:27.140 that's his last name. And he was just yesterday. He said China is 20 years ahead of us. And he
00:16:34.420 gave an example that in China, they apply AI, not just in the company, not just in the industry,
00:16:41.320 but in the community and in the city.
00:16:44.260 And he gave an example that here we will get a traffic ticket
00:16:49.300 probably after a month or so.
00:16:52.840 He said, in China, you're going to get it in two minutes.
00:16:56.160 And I said, he is just so, so, so stupid.
00:16:59.900 Stupid is the word.
00:17:01.140 He had no idea.
00:17:02.480 Not only did they get the ticket in real time
00:17:05.800 and the fine would be withdrawn from their bank account
00:17:09.340 in the next two seconds.
00:17:11.320 That's what the kind of total control that communist, the Chinese Communist Party has on the Chinese people.
00:17:19.200 There is absolutely, you can't expect countries like that to prosper without the help of the American companies.
00:17:32.920 And I think that finally, finally, with Trump, we understand that they are our enemy.
00:17:39.280 CCP is our enemy.
00:17:40.580 it's not competitor it's not partner it's enemy
00:17:44.560 and the idea is that they'd want to come in and they could by the way help out on so many of
00:17:56.380 these things they could help out on iran they could help out on russia they could help out in
00:18:00.840 so many places but they don't actually view themselves as peacemakers because they are the
00:18:06.240 ones behind so many of these things. Isn't that true? Their enemy, the top enemy is the United
00:18:13.120 States. And it's not just today. It's not just yesterday. It is in the DNA of CCP. It's in the
00:18:21.200 day that it was founded in 1921 by the Russians. That was their goal. Their goal was to defeat
00:18:29.660 capitalism, Christianity, and the United States. That is always there. When they are weak,
00:18:37.600 they pretend that they're just like, you know, reformers. And as soon as Xi Jinping took over
00:18:46.080 in 2012, he showed his teeth because he believed that now he's strong enough. And this is something
00:18:53.320 And I really, really want American people to understand CCP view America always, always as their enemy.
00:19:05.980 And I remember this from when I was there.
00:19:08.340 I remember this from traveling there, from living there for two years, learning Mandarin, that they view America as with.
00:19:17.340 And it's interesting because they have respect for what America's position was in the world as the number one.
00:19:25.420 But I can remember them saying, we view you as number one.
00:19:29.500 Our goal is to take you down and to put us in your place.
00:19:33.900 Exactly. And this is something I think, of course, without the help of the mainstream media and people just don't know.
00:19:42.080 People still view China as just a normal country. It is not.
00:19:46.880 It is a communist country. It's not a capitalist country. And we don't have to argue. Look at that. Look at the sign. There's a hammer and a sickle. And also the other thing, as long as you see Chairman Mao's portrait hanging on the Tiananmen Square Tower, you know it is a communist country.
00:20:06.200 And we have to regard it that way. And today, not only CCP is our primary threat, communism itself is our greatest threat. And communism is not over there. It is here, here in America, here in our institutions, and here in, you know, especially educational system.
00:20:29.840 They're absolutely controlled by the American Marxists, American communists.
00:20:36.040 So our enemy is both CCP and communism.
00:20:41.460 Tell us again about your book, because you're talking about the power of economic leverage.
00:20:47.620 That's really the best way to fight back here.
00:20:51.320 Yeah, it's more than that.
00:20:52.720 But decoupling, I know it is difficult.
00:20:55.520 It is very, very difficult because we let them in.
00:21:00.360 We let the CCP into this world of order, and now they're destroying it.
00:21:09.740 And so then what we have to fight back is really, really remake the world of order.
00:21:17.500 And that's exactly what Trump is doing.
00:21:20.480 I call it a great reset, use their term.
00:21:24.140 We have to reset the term. And so what Trump did, Trump withdrew from the World Health Organization.
00:21:33.760 And I think I think we should withdraw from UN, from all of these organizations that have been captured by the CCP.
00:21:42.680 So and of course, tariff is one of the best weapons we have.
00:21:47.400 So we have to understand their threat and act accordingly.
00:21:51.200 amen to that all right we know president trump on his way there steve infleet thank you so much
00:21:56.940 for joining us human events daily you know they talk about influencers these are influencers
00:22:03.840 and uh they're friends of mine jack or something where's jack jack he's got a great job
00:22:12.140 human events daily real america's voice we see that's marine one on the tarmac live shot we'll
00:22:23.220 have that up for you as president trump departs on his way to china and this is the beijing
00:22:31.100 boardroom meeting what we've been telling you all about this is the big one this is about
00:22:37.720 president trump's strategic grand deal that he's being able to put together i want to bring on now
00:22:47.220 richard barris the people's pundit here on human events rich you've been looking at this entire
00:22:55.580 situation walk us through the state of play geopolitically between china and iran as president
00:23:02.220 Trump is on his way to the tarmac has to do. I heard his comments before, but, you know, in
00:23:09.680 reality, Jack, we've been we've been talking about this, you and I and your show since the beginning
00:23:13.360 of this. He needs to talk to China about the situation in Iran, even get their help, try to
00:23:17.800 elicit their help if he if he has to, because the best, most favorable thing for Donald Trump to do
00:23:23.600 at this point is to wind this thing down as fast as he can, Jack. So, you know, it's just the
00:23:28.260 reality of the situation that you're going to have to deal with China because obviously they
00:23:32.320 back Iran. Same thing eventually. Jack, again, we can't have these enemies to the north of the
00:23:39.840 Gulf and enemies to the south of the Gulf kind of just squeezing our position there. We just can't
00:23:44.060 have it. So you're going to have to deal with them. It's sad to say, and I'd be remiss if I
00:23:48.920 didn't say this, this has put Trump in an opportunity to reshape that world order that
00:23:55.060 we've been talking about but this is something he's going to have to deliver on now because now
00:23:59.020 we're kind of in this position due to the war so we have to do it got to engage yeah and there's a
00:24:04.160 there's a few different you know there's a few different things you know i'm sort of just looking
00:24:08.200 at my notes here trying to determine you know what is it that the united states has to offer
00:24:13.340 to china and you know i've seen i've seen the media and like specifically the wall street journal
00:24:17.580 which i think you can see the stenography you know off talking about licenses on chinese evs and
00:24:23.180 others by the way president trump just now um you know for folks who are on the audio side he's now
00:24:28.520 walking across the tarmac he's flanked by secret service by it looks like air force uh and he's on
00:24:35.920 his way to air force one it doesn't look like he's taking any questions at this point so press
00:24:43.220 motorcade on their way he salutes and he's headed for the stairs see he's waving and yes no questions
00:24:53.820 he's going right up the stairs you got secret service flank him and he is on his way it's got
00:24:57.460 the big plane at the big plane for air force one um i do see a lot of other members of the
00:25:05.120 presidential those look like he has a few others of the presidential air wing out there so it could
00:25:09.520 be that other members of the senior staff are heading along as well. The White House might be
00:25:14.800 sending multiple planes. This is a large delegation that's going to be heading over in addition to the
00:25:18.900 business leaders. Go ahead, Rich. Yeah, I was just going to say two things, actually. One is this is
00:25:24.980 what I like to see from Donald Trump because this is where he shines, Jack, and the deal
00:25:29.200 making is what made him such a consequential president in his first term, especially. But
00:25:34.900 But, you know, that's, you know, number one.
00:25:37.580 Number two, again, it may not be my most favored way to get here,
00:25:41.720 but I think, you know, we've been talking about this for a long time.
00:25:45.340 We do need to make changes in the global order.
00:25:49.100 We have to wind down in the Gulf.
00:25:50.340 We have to pivot to Asia.
00:25:51.760 So if it takes, you know, being pushed into it like this,
00:25:55.560 then good, I'll take that.
00:25:56.940 I'll take it on a silver platter.
00:26:00.060 This is where he shines.
00:26:01.060 And we've talked about this, but unfortunately, but Rich,
00:26:04.900 Unfortunately, what we've seen is we're not pivoting to Asia.
00:26:09.100 In fact, we're pivoting.
00:26:10.120 What we've done is actually pivot so much of our military away from Asia, back to the Middle East.
00:26:17.060 Yeah, but this is exactly what I mean.
00:26:20.440 I'm kind of hoping that they were forced into it, Jack, because it doesn't look like naturally the blob is going to let this entire, this giant ship that we're on with foreign policy.
00:26:30.400 It's not like they're going to let it change course in a second.
00:26:32.680 This is going to be a huge correction.
00:26:34.220 It would take a huge correction. But again, you said before, you know, what is it that they need?
00:26:39.060 It's a misnomer that China's economy is doing great. It's not like they're hot on fire over there.
00:26:43.580 We have economic things we can give them. And for those of us who were very reluctant to get into the Middle East and see this war kick off because of concerns like this.
00:26:53.640 Again, I'll take it any way I can get it, brother. Give it to them. Let's move forward.
00:26:58.340 yeah and i would say you know i would obviously say short of you know short of of course you know
00:27:05.580 taiwan recognition or something like that but perhaps that's not a deal on that's not on the
00:27:11.360 table right of course it's not on the table but you know some some sort of economic package where
00:27:16.680 look and and this is the way that i've always seen it described is that you know the u.s and china
00:27:21.340 are always going to have a relationship and it's probably better for the world that we do right
00:27:26.960 It's probably in general better for the world if we do rather than try to, you know, isolate and cut everyone off like we did with Russia.
00:27:34.640 And what did that do? That just pushed Russia into a corner and it didn't end the Ukraine war.
00:27:39.060 It prolonged it. And it continues today for, you know, what, four and a half years almost now that it's been going.
00:27:45.760 And so that was a complete failure. If you wanted to, quote unquote, change Russia's behavior, you back them into the corner.
00:27:53.400 That being said, when it comes to China, you have to recalibrate.
00:27:57.820 I think you have to recalibrate.
00:27:59.520 You have to reconstitute.
00:28:00.800 You have to to shake the relationship up there.
00:28:04.160 But at the same time, say, look, we need this thing with Iran.
00:28:08.060 We know that China came in with Syria in the past when there were chemical weapons concerns.
00:28:12.820 China was someone who came in that was seen as a neutral party, in a sense, and was able to come in there.
00:28:18.840 I think they could play the same role with Tehran or with Tehran.
00:28:23.720 We would just have to make it worth their while.
00:28:25.820 Let me just clarify, too, by saying the piggybacking off of what you just said, what you just described was a giant balancing coalition that our policy in Eastern Europe and elsewhere led to balancing against us now.
00:28:38.820 You know, so the Russia, China, even India, you know, kind of anti U.S. or anti NATO balancing coalition cannot be allowed to form.
00:28:45.760 But that when I said give it to them, just to clarify, not the, you know, the factories on foreign soil, Jack, that is an absolute political catastrophe in the making.
00:28:57.040 So don't do it. I see those things as I'm going to tell you right now.
00:28:59.860 I see the factories on foreign soil and the EV licenses. That is a wish list.
00:29:04.840 That's wish casting from the U.S. chamber. I said that a war room this morning.
00:29:08.640 They're the ones trying to put that out there. That's what they want.
00:29:11.480 That is not what President Trump is putting on the table.
00:29:15.080 Yeah, I mean, look, that's not going to fly with not only his base.
00:29:20.360 I think that wouldn't fly beyond even his base.
00:29:23.300 But again, I cannot see him doing that.
00:29:27.180 And look, there are these exemptions for the oil embargo,
00:29:31.920 which once upon a time in Trump's first administration,
00:29:34.400 he would slap them with those and it hurt their revenue, Iran's revenue.
00:29:39.580 He could use that.
00:29:40.880 I mean, he has a number of tools at his disposal.
00:29:43.060 It doesn't have to be something radical.
00:29:44.060 The tools are there. Let's hold off on that and get back after the break.
00:29:48.960 President Trump on his way to China. Air Force One, now loaded.
00:29:52.200 President Trump now, Air Force One, loaded up, on the tarmac, about to take off, direct
00:30:12.140 flight, Washington, D.C., to Beijing, on here, America's 250th anniversary.
00:30:22.420 Folks, America is now hitting 250 years, and we are in fact fighting for its soul right now.
00:30:29.120 Culture. Economy. Who gets your dollar? That's the battle.
00:30:33.260 Most wireless companies don't care what you stand for. They just want your cash.
00:30:37.660 Patriot Mobile is different. For more than 12 years, they've stood with Americans like us,
00:30:42.240 backing the Christian conservative movement when everyone else stayed silent or worse.
00:30:46.800 And here's the deal. You don't have to give up quality or service when you switch to Patriot Mobile.
00:30:51.120 They deliver premium priority access on all three major U.S. networks, so you'll get the same coverage or better than you have today.

00:31:07.800 Still paying off a device?
00:31:09.240 Patriot Mobile even offers a contract buyout.
00:31:12.300 This is a defining year.
00:31:14.140 We're in a fight for America's soul.
00:31:15.720 We must work together to save our country.
00:31:17.700 Go to PatriotMobile.com slash POSO or call 972-PATRIOT.
00:31:22.560 Use promo code POSO for a free month of service.
00:31:25.080 That's PatriotMobile.com slash POSO or call 972-PATRIOT.
00:31:29.040 Make the switch today.
00:31:30.960 Rich Barrist, we're watching President Trump.
00:31:33.400 He's on his way over.
00:31:34.280 He's going to be sitting down with Chairman Xi.
00:31:37.560 The fact that he's got these, you know, these heads of industry going along with them, all
00:31:43.640 the tech giants are going.
00:31:45.140 Elon Musk is going, Tim Cook, the heads of Meta, I believe the head of Google is going
00:31:50.960 over as well, just all the Silicon Valley companies.
00:31:54.600 This really shows to me, and I've made this point on the program all week, that this is
00:32:01.300 about continuing to find a way to rebalance and recalibrate our relationship.
00:32:07.380 And there's no better way to highlight that than point out the fact that Silicon Valley
00:32:13.240 does not do its manufacturing in the Silicon Valley anymore. They do it in China and they do
00:32:18.360 it in Taiwan largely, but they do it at the detriment of American workers. They do it with
00:32:25.300 Chinese labor. So those are the guys and BlackRock, Blackstone, et cetera, so many others.
00:32:30.520 Those are the guys that President Trump knows that he needs to get in the room and say, look,
00:32:36.300 you guys got to remember who your loyalty is to. You live here. You want this country to
00:32:40.860 continue to protect you it's time to fix the problem before we think it's you know that that's
00:32:49.020 just a big carrot let's see what happens and you know they could also be a very big stick right i
00:32:54.000 mean that's what happens when you put those you know that that number of uh key figures in the
00:32:59.060 same room it's not just that there's trump saying something if you can get everybody on the same
00:33:03.240 page then it makes it obviously you have to take if you're the chinese you have to take it more
00:33:07.500 seriously i mean that that's it's a smart play and i'm not even sure the last time we saw somebody
00:33:11.880 do something like this right could you think back to the last time you saw a president take an
00:33:16.960 industry delegation like this to another global power um and it's you know again at this point
00:33:23.660 um you know we've put we've we've decided where the boundaries were and what was on the table and
00:33:28.500 what wasn't i say let him cook and let's see what he can do here because these changes he's long
00:33:33.360 known I know that people might feel like he's you know hit a couple of speed bumps with certain
00:33:37.920 things as the war really takes your mind away from other priorities but Trump has long seen
00:33:43.980 what we have what we have been talking about he gets that I mean remember this was the president
00:33:48.340 in the first administration that wanted to do this wanted to scale back away from NATO to the
00:33:52.880 great by the way to the great number of belly aches we heard from the neocon wing of the
00:33:58.520 Republican Party, right? It was insane to make a pivot more toward Asia and to wind down on NATO.
00:34:04.580 Well, if there wasn't that kind of pushback in the first Trump administration, we might not even
00:34:09.100 have a Ukrainian war right now. We may not have a Russo-Ukrainian war. And he'd be able to be that
00:34:14.320 much more focused on what needs to be done in the East, because that is where we should be focused.
00:34:19.480 That's where we need to spend our resources, outside of our own hemisphere, of course.
00:34:22.760 and and it really is look people need to understand that when we face this
00:34:29.700 we've been and i say it like a broken record we did the china files here where we explained this
00:34:34.520 we've been paying for our own demise it's the old vladimir lenin quote right that a capitalist
00:34:40.720 will sell you the rope that you use that will sell you the rope that you use to hang yourself
00:34:45.600 and that's exactly what we've been doing with the chinese we have been sending all of our jobs over
00:34:50.700 there. We've been sending all of our work over there and including that all of what the foreign
00:34:57.160 direct investment. That's a huge piece of that for trying to find a way to redirect investment
00:35:03.680 to the United States, trying to keep American capital in the United States. That's why the
00:35:08.400 Midwest is like the Midwest. The South is the South. The entire Northeast is deindustrialized.
00:35:13.240 That's rich. You and I come on. We talk about the Rust Belt all day, every day. This is why the Rust
00:35:18.440 belt is the Rust belt. And Rich, you know, as well as I do, that when you go to those voters
00:35:22.800 in Ohio, in Michigan, in Wisconsin, in my beloved Pennsylvania, you say the word China,
00:35:28.520 that is a four letter word up there. Yeah. And we're getting to the point. I was just going to
00:35:33.240 go here. We're getting to the point where a very large, more than super majority of the country
00:35:39.180 does want Donald Trump to be doing this, right? Whether they see this as they may not know all
00:35:44.340 the details, but voters aren't dumb. All right. If they're looking at Donald Trump, you know,
00:35:48.200 getting on Air Force One and heading across the ocean like that to go speak to somebody and
00:35:52.060 negotiate, that is going to be, that's what they want. So again, we're at a point now where it's
00:35:57.540 more than a super majority who says, you know, negotiate and do what you got to do to end the
00:36:01.160 war and let's get back to other things. This is one of those other things that got Donald Trump
00:36:07.320 elected the first time around. And again, of course, the third time around, this is why he
00:36:11.520 performs the way he does, because he does care about these issues. And voters in that part of
00:36:16.160 the country are savvy enough, more than the average bear, because they have been impacted
00:36:20.960 by it more than the average bear, this entire global order. So again, I understand there may
00:36:26.300 be some people who are worried about what goes on and what is he going to give him? Are we going to
00:36:30.660 end the war, especially the more hawkish side of the party? Are we going to end the war on bad
00:36:34.440 terms? This is what needs to be done. This is what voters want him to do. It's the president that
00:36:39.800 they elected this is the president they like so let him get it done and get back to some of those
00:36:45.280 original priorities that he had which was of course reshaping the world order and confronting
00:36:49.300 the east when we've ignored it at the behest of the middle east for how many years to like you
00:36:54.960 said our own detriment this entire concept is what sells in the rust belt so let him cook let
00:37:01.020 him do his thing look and and i keep saying it i keep saying it all day long is if you really want
00:37:08.220 to recalibrate the pivot to Asia, you build the Asian force. Uh, we were coming up on, on X the
00:37:15.340 other day, we were coming up with some, you know, potential names for like an Asian NATO. Um,
00:37:20.680 you let Japan re-militarize. What was the one? I think we had POTO at one point calling it POTO,
00:37:29.640 uh, you know, uh, yeah, I forgot to support the Pacific, uh, you know, Pacific Ocean Treaty
00:37:35.240 organizations like that um but you get the philippines obviously you get the philippines
00:37:39.220 you get india you get japan you get south korea you get all of these nations australia obviously
00:37:45.200 you get all of these nations on board and then you have the ability because the united states
00:37:51.160 is since world war ii the united states has been a pacific power this is what people need to
00:37:57.400 understand from a naval perspective we won world war ii the most strategic victory that we have
00:38:03.500 was not europe by the way it was the pacific ocean and control of the pacific waterways which yes we
00:38:09.680 took from japan that has been america's economic engine since world war ii now unfortunately what
00:38:16.660 did we do with it we handed it over to this deal with the chinese communists after the 1990s and
00:38:22.620 the world the world trade organization wto ascension we didn't need to do that we never
00:38:27.340 should have done that but that's what was done because they saw all those waterways all those
00:38:32.620 roadways as totally wide open. And so it was, it was sold to the American people as, Oh, you're
00:38:37.880 going to get, you know, you're going to get a smaller house, but a bigger TV and people took
00:38:42.820 the deal because big TV, who doesn't want that? Yeah. You know, it's funny post the world war
00:38:48.460 or pre the post world war two era. It's if you look at the history of American expansion and
00:38:55.400 even defensive posturing, but still it's always been to the West Jack, even though I would argue
00:39:00.860 even before, you know, knowing that we needed to be a naval power in order to defeat the Japanese
00:39:05.640 in World War II or any other, honestly, the open door policy, you know, was obviously to lay the
00:39:12.640 framework of the groundwork for Western expansion and beyond, right? As an, more of an, obviously,
00:39:19.040 an economic empire. We're not a colonial empire. It's a little bit different, but that's always
00:39:23.500 been the way it is. The post-World War II era just got us hung up on Europe, which is, you know,
00:39:28.360 there's a good name for it. It's an appropriate name, Jack, the old world, right? It very much
00:39:33.600 is in many senses of that phrase, right? It is the old world and we're behind the ball. We've
00:39:41.480 been behind the ball on being able to pivot. And it's one thing out of the, I remember the Obama
00:39:46.320 administration. It was actually one thing out of the Obama administration that I felt like I could
00:39:50.460 get behind Jack. And I know the button was stupid. You remember the reset button with Russia and all
00:39:55.100 that um i remember when it was you know it was silly and we all made fun of it but that's but
00:40:00.420 obama never actually believed in it because he kept us in the middle east the entire time rich
00:40:04.840 barris that's all the time we have i could do this with you all day long man where can people
00:40:08.760 follow you the best place jack always on locals peoples pundit.locals.com but follow the gram
00:40:14.400 at peoples underscore pundit coming in hot on the gram with rich barris we'll be right back
00:40:19.760 Senator Josh Hawley joins us next on Human Events Daily.
00:40:50.640 All right, folks, Jack, we're back live, Human Events Daily, and we're very honored to have
00:40:54.820 on once again, Senator Josh Hawley joins us.
00:40:58.460 Senator, how are you?
00:40:59.880 I'm doing great.
00:41:00.660 Thank you for having me.
00:41:02.580 Well, Senator, I know you've got big legislation that you're going to be introducing today,
00:41:06.240 but we did just see President Trump, he made his, he departed, he made his departure from
00:41:12.580 Andrews there, Air Force One.
00:41:15.080 He's loaded up.
00:41:16.000 Talk to us just very quickly. What are your hopes? Because I know that you focus so much
00:41:21.320 on Silicon Valley, China, these two relationships that have been intrinsically paired. President
00:41:27.020 Trump bringing so many Silicon Valley leaders here. What is your view and what we hope to get
00:41:31.760 out of this summit? Well, I hope that we get out protecting American industry, protecting American
00:41:36.900 technology, most importantly, American jobs. Nobody, nobody in my lifetime has done what
00:41:42.560 Donald J. Trump did to put the China issue on the agenda. He's basically the only guy who would talk
00:41:47.720 about it going back to really back to the 90s. He said admitting China to the WTO would be a huge
00:41:53.880 mistake. He was right. It was. It was stupid. It's cost us tens of millions of jobs. Now they want
00:41:58.720 to buy up a whole bunch of our industry. They want to buy up our farmland. And I hope we make clear
00:42:02.880 to them we're not going to let that happen. China shouldn't own any farmland in America, period.
00:42:06.860 They shouldn't own real estate around our sensitive military bases, other areas that are
00:42:11.380 sensitive from a national security perspective. And I credit the president again for taking a
00:42:15.460 tough line on China. He's the only guy who's been willing to do it. I hope he'll continue
00:42:19.480 to do that at this summit. They need us a lot more than we need them. Let's just be honest
00:42:23.420 about it. And it's a time, this is the time to drive a hard bargain in my view.
00:42:28.240 Well, that's exactly right, Senator. And I've been traveling to China and spent time there and
00:42:34.280 was a Mandarin linguist in the Navy. And the idea that China would have its rise and have
00:42:41.060 all of its power fueled without a customer base never really made any sense to me. We are the
00:42:46.860 ones who actually have the leverage here, not them. 100%. And that's always been true, which
00:42:51.540 is why it was catastrophically stupid for the Clinton administration and then the Bush 43
00:42:57.220 administration to welcome China into the trade system, to treat them as a developing nation.
00:43:02.340 We have basically zero tariff access to our economy while they got to tariff up and protect
00:43:06.880 their economy. You know, we funneled, we fueled, we funded their rise. And you think about it,
00:43:13.240 it's insane. And the first person in my lifetime to point this out and be honest about it again
00:43:17.180 was President Trump, who said that was stupid. Decades of stupid policy. He started to reverse
00:43:22.600 it in his first administration. He's continued down that path. And I hope that he'll continue
00:43:26.080 to stand strong here. Why are we paying for their military? Why are we funding their AI companies?
00:43:32.580 We shouldn't be funding a dime. We want our jobs back from them that they've stolen.
00:43:36.920 And there's a lot we can do to continue to protect American jobs, American industry, American farmland.
00:43:42.560 That ought to be our priority.
00:43:44.400 Well, I couldn't agree more. This recalibration, and I really hope that that's what comes out of this summit.
00:43:51.240 Obviously, it's hope for, you know, some mediation perhaps or leverage over Iran, shut down that.
00:43:57.700 because this Iran situation that we're also looking at, I know that's been one of the big
00:44:03.020 overhanging questions of the summit with Beijing, is the price of fuel as it's bottled up out of
00:44:11.000 the Strait of Hormuz, as those tankers still haven't just begun flowing the way that the way
00:44:16.540 they normally do. That has risen or caused the price of gas to rise so much here at home. And
00:44:23.140 a lot of people have looked at that and saying, OK, well, it's a bottleneck situation. What are
00:44:27.160 we going to do? We need a deal. The deal hasn't come. Iranians were countering, et cetera, et
00:44:31.600 cetera. You, though, have perhaps a way to help Americans directly find relief while the
00:44:38.480 geopolitics play out on the world stage. Yeah, let's suspend the gas tax. Easy. Federal gas tax
00:44:44.200 is about 20 cents a gallon. Diesel, it's even a little bit higher. Let's suspend them both.
00:44:48.980 I mean, let's just cut taxes right now. I thought that's what Republicans were good for. So let's
00:44:52.780 do it. Let's cut taxes for the American people on gas and diesel. Let's do it immediately.
00:44:57.960 The president endorsed this yesterday. He talked it up big in the Oval Office. I was
00:45:01.940 delighted when he did, and I hope that Republicans will take his leadership on this. This is
00:45:05.980 the right thing to do. We need to give the American people relief. You know, you just
00:45:10.300 mentioned China and the straight. I hope the president will make this straight issue China's
00:45:13.980 problem. They get most of their oil out of the straight. We don't, but the bottleneck
00:45:18.100 in the straight is driving up prices for the American people. Let's give them a tax cut.
00:45:22.780 So how does that work going forward? This is obviously different from, of course, you remember when when Biden was draining our strategic petroleum reserves during the, you know, during the onset of the Ukraine war when that was going on, which wasn't, by the way, wasn't even something that we were involved in, except that Biden wanted us to be in.
00:45:42.520 Now, that was something, though, that the president could do by himself when it comes to suspending the gas tax. What's the procedure there?
00:45:49.240 Congress has to pass it. Congress has got to do it by statute. That's why I've introduced
00:45:52.660 legislation that would do it immediately. It would suspend that tax for 90 days,
00:45:56.860 and then it would give the president the authority to suspend it for another 90 days
00:46:01.500 without having to come back to Congress if he deems that it's necessary for our economic
00:46:05.760 well-being and national security. So, you know, we're looking at half a year at least
00:46:09.700 of cutting that tax. And, you know, that's real money. I mean, that's 20 cents right
00:46:14.480 off the top. In my state, that would make a huge difference. It's huge for farmers who
00:46:18.820 are paying diesel, who are using diesel. They would take a little more than 20 off the top
00:46:22.480 for them. And my view is, why not do it? Why not give the American people that relief?
00:46:26.940 I also think it strengthens our hands, frankly, in negotiations with Iran. Iran is counting
00:46:31.140 on the fact that the pain that we're paying at the pump, that we're feeling at the pump,
00:46:35.980 the prices that we're paying will ultimately squeeze the president. Well, we can relieve
00:46:39.820 some of that pressure. You know, Iran has the pressure here. We ought to keep up the
00:46:43.120 pressure on them. Let's take the pressure off the American people. Well, it's certainly something.
00:46:48.900 And by the way, last time I checked, not exactly a partisan issue, is it? Well, it shouldn't be.
00:46:54.060 I mean, this is going to be a real test now because the Democrats have been saying for the
00:46:57.180 last two months, well, hey, let's cut the gas tax. Okay. President Trump comes out and says,
00:47:01.820 yeah, let's do, let's do that. Okay. Well, I'm going to, let's see how many Democrats now are
00:47:05.460 for it. I want to give them the opportunity to vote on this. They thought it's such a good idea.
00:47:09.440 And by the way, Democrats have voted for this in the past under Democrat presidents. So
00:47:13.000 let's have a vote let's just see who is actually for helping the american people and who just
00:47:17.380 wants to score political points but make no mistake cutting that tax right now huge help
00:47:21.920 to every single american so pass the legislation it gets done by statute that of course means it's
00:47:29.580 got to come up to a vote is this something walk us through just you know the senate procedure on this
00:47:34.060 because we had the save act situation save america act and a lot of people saying wait a minute that
00:47:40.160 didn't happen, that seemed to run into all these procedural hurdles here. How do we get around that?
00:47:46.660 Well, this could go on the Senate floor tomorrow if the majority leader wanted to put it on the
00:47:50.600 floor. Here's how the Senate rules work. The majority leader, Senator Thune, controls the
00:47:54.360 floor. It's one of the big privileges of being majority leader. It is a very powerful privilege.
00:47:58.740 He controls the floor. He could put the gas tax cut on the floor today, tomorrow, whenever he wants.
00:48:04.680 He could set it for a vote. You know, under the Senate rules, it would need 60 votes. So you'd
00:48:08.480 need to get all the Republicans, seven Democrats. But that's what I say. Let's put these people
00:48:12.380 on the record. I mean, let's see who is for higher taxes on the American worker in a time
00:48:17.160 of war. Let's find out. Let's just find out. I predict it would pass. It goes over to the
00:48:20.780 House, pass that thing through. Jack, this whole thing could be done in a couple of days
00:48:24.880 if there was the will to do it. There needs to be the will to do it because the American
00:48:29.540 people need the relief. We need to put the pressure back on Iran. This is a great way
00:48:33.280 to do both things at one time. Well, I think it would be excellent, Senator. I couldn't
00:48:38.460 agree more. We saw the president talking about that. I do have you for one more minute. If you'd
00:48:43.480 permit me, I did also see the president tweeting about another piece or posting, true thing about
00:48:48.600 another piece of legislation in the Senate, the Housing Act, the Road to Housing Act.
00:48:53.720 Wanted to ask your views on that. I know that the big push is try to get these big institutional
00:48:59.140 buyers out of the housing market, make it more available for single payer. Do you think this
00:49:05.360 is the right bill for it. You know, I'm all for anything we can do to get the big Wall Street guys
00:49:10.400 out of buying single-family homes. This is happening in Missouri. It's happening everywhere.
00:49:14.720 These Wall Street banks and investment funds are coming in, and they're buying up single-family
00:49:18.200 homes, taking them off the market, turning them into rental properties. That drives up the cost
00:49:22.700 for folks who are trying to get their first house. We're talking about working people. This is the
00:49:27.160 backbone of the Trump-Republican coalition. Folks want to be able to buy their own homes. Young men
00:49:33.180 starting their families. They need to be able to get a home. To have these Wall Street banks
00:49:37.120 and investment companies, hedge funds coming in and buying them all up is ridiculous. It
00:49:41.480 is ridiculous. We ought to say, listen, you want to go build homes on your own, Wall Street? Go
00:49:45.720 ahead. Fine. You want to build condos? Whatever. But you should not be able to come in and buy up
00:49:51.180 single-family homes and take that stock away from the American people, especially those first-time
00:49:57.260 homebuyers. I'm for anything that can get that done. I would be honest with you, I'd go stronger
00:50:02.360 than the bill that passed the Senate.
00:50:03.980 I think that we could be even tougher
00:50:05.580 and give more power back to first-time homebuyers,
00:50:08.680 more power back to the people.
00:50:09.780 That's my general posture.
00:50:11.140 But I'll take whatever.
00:50:12.700 I mean, you know, let's take the first step.
00:50:14.340 Understood.
00:50:15.660 Understood.
00:50:16.160 Senator Josh Hawley, God bless you.
00:50:17.380 Thank you for joining us again.
00:50:18.380 Hey, thank you.
00:50:20.300 All right, ladies and gentlemen, as always,
00:50:21.440 you have my permission to lay ashore.
00:50:32.360 You
