00:00:00.000 Hey guys, it's Jack. I wanted to let you know that we're starting a new push for subscriptions here on Human Events Daily.
00:00:09.340 So make sure that when you're listening to this podcast, you hit subscribe, you download it, and you share it with five of your friends.
00:00:16.720 Make sure they're all going and downloading as well, because we need to get the signal out as much as possible.
00:00:22.440 Look, we've done so much over the past couple of years since this show started, and we're only going to do so much more.
00:00:29.360 Let's get it.
00:00:33.720 This is what happens when the fourth turning meets fifth generation warfare.
00:00:42.840 A commentator, international social media sensation, and former Navy intelligence veteran.
00:00:49.660 This is Human Events with your host, Jack Posobiec.
00:00:52.680 Christ is king.
00:00:54.280 But your conclusion is that changing from the scientific consensus of it being from a lab to a neutral position by the CIA was significantly influenced by Anthony Fauci?
00:01:06.400 It was significantly influenced by Anthony Fauci's injecting himself into the IC.
00:01:12.800 As of August 12th, the CIA was considering calling this a lab leak.
00:01:17.800 August 12th of 2021.
00:01:18.820 In April, inflation rose 3.8 percent year over year.
00:01:24.100 that's the highest level in nearly three years. It was up 0.6% month over month.
00:01:29.740 Federal agents are arresting people in that string of FBI raids across Virginia.
00:01:34.520 This is all connected to an influential Democrat in the Commonwealth of Virginia,
00:01:38.700 State Senator Luis Lucas. They are at her office executing warrants as a part of a major corruption
00:01:45.360 probe. Tonight, sources tell ABC News the Justice Department is investigating $2.6 billion of
00:01:53.720 suspiciously timed oil trades tied to the Iran war. In at least four cases, oil traders bet prices
00:02:00.540 would drop right before they actually did. Investigators now probing whether they'd
00:02:05.440 received inside information. President Trump arriving in China to meet President Xi Jinping.
00:02:11.640 The trip was originally intended to talk trade and AI. Tech CEOs Elon Musk, Tim Cook and others
00:02:17.840 are among the business leaders on the trip, but overshadowing the summit, the war in Iran.
00:02:22.780 We're going to have a long talk about it.
00:02:24.980 China buys more Iranian oil than any other country.
00:02:28.300 Trump is expected to urge Xi to pressure Iran into reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
00:02:33.100 The question will be, what does Xi want in return?
00:02:36.160 I mean, this is the first time we've had a U.S. president visiting China in nearly a decade, right?
00:02:41.120 And President Trump was the last one to make this trip back in 2017.
00:02:45.180 So this is fairly momentous, just the mere fact of the trip actually happening.
00:02:52.780 Ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard today's edition of Human Events Daily.
00:03:09.120 We're here live, real America's voice today is May 13th, 2026, Anno Domini.
00:03:15.480 We're very honored here on the program that in just a few minutes, Human Events will be joined by Ambassador Yu of Taiwan.
00:03:25.300 He will be joining us as President Trump has just landed in Beijing for his what we've called the Beijing showdown between President Trump and Chairman Xi Jinping of the Chinese Communist Party.
00:03:39.880 the head of the United States of America and the head of the People's Republic of China.
00:03:46.400 So much hangs in the balance, not just for the world, not just for the stakes with Iran and
00:03:52.960 whether or not China will help bring leverage to an Iran deal or to the Iran situation,
00:03:59.500 but also the economic rebalancing that President Trump is working on vis-a-vis China itself and
00:04:06.980 the entire system of globalism. This is key because with that, President Trump is able to
00:04:15.040 work to bring those manufacturing jobs back to American shores. This has been President Trump's
00:04:22.120 key and sole sticking point since he came down that escalator 10 years ago, almost actually 11
00:04:28.700 years ago. Now that I think about it, the stakes couldn't be higher, like I said, and they also
00:04:33.960 couldn't be higher for Taiwan. When we look at the global role of Taiwan, Taiwan currently
00:04:39.000 produces 60 percent of the global semiconductors in terms of revenue and over 90 percent of the
00:04:47.220 world's advanced chips. We're talking the seven nanometer, especially the three and two nanometer
00:04:52.960 and below. This is TSMC, the world leader. And the United States has that key relationship with
00:05:00.960 Taiwan. But the CCP wants those chips. They want to be able to leapfrog us in AI. They don't have
00:05:08.220 any restrictions whatsoever about data centers. They don't have any restrictions when it comes
00:05:13.020 to human rights or slave labor or any of these things. And so there's real questions as to what
00:05:19.460 does this mean for the U.S.'s commitment to support the people of Taiwan, the free people
00:05:25.160 of Taiwan. And let's not forget that Taiwan only exists because communists handed over Beijing
00:05:34.900 and all of China to the Chinese Communist Party after World War II. This was a deal
00:05:41.420 that was made in back rooms, back rooms in Yalta, when FDR was disease addled and Soviet agents
00:05:51.520 were working to make these deals with Stalin. Then when the Soviets took Manchuria, the industrial
00:05:58.000 base of the Japanese Imperial Army, they handed over the arms to the Chinese communists.
00:06:04.740 And Marshall stood down. General Marshall stood down and did not aid Chiang Kai-shek. So where
00:06:11.760 did Chiang Kai-shek and the Nationalists flee? That's right, Taiwan. And ever since then,
00:06:16.500 The Republic of China, the original government of China, the rightful government, not just of the island of Taiwan, but of all of China, has existed in a limbo state where the status quo has always been one of strategic ambiguity when it comes to the United States.
00:06:37.060 Whereas the U.S. recognizes and has recognized the CCP, thanks to Jimmy Carter, this is a situation where the U.S. has not dropped those arms sales to Taiwan, including $11.5 billion, the largest arms sale to Taiwan ever, signed by President Trump just last December.
00:06:57.360 When we talk about freedom, when we talk about democracy, when we talk about Western economic might, Taiwan is key as well as being key to a potential future Asian NATO.
00:07:11.100 Right back, Jack Posobiec, the ambassador of Taiwan. Just a few moments.
00:07:15.400 Nothing will stand in our way and our golden age has just begun.
00:07:19.960 This is Human Events with Jack Posobiec.
00:07:21.720 Now it's time for everyone to understand what America First truly means.
00:07:26.180 Welcome to the Second American Revolution.
00:07:33.800 All right, folks, Jack Posobiec, we're back live here.
00:07:36.340 Human Events Daily, Real America's Voice.
00:07:40.040 And as promised, we are very honored to have Ambassador Yu of Taiwan joining us here on the program.
00:07:47.220 Mr. Ambassador.
00:07:49.300 Hello, Jack. Thank you for having me on your program, Human Events, today.
00:07:53.920 Thank you, and I'd just like to say, on behalf of myself and the American audience here,
00:08:00.720 We are very excited to have you here, and of course to be with you, and show and express
00:08:19.560 our support for your efforts, and our support for the people of Taiwan.
00:08:23.920 Thank you, Jagan, and especially appreciate you doing it in Mandarin, the language that my people can understand.
00:08:29.500 English spoken, but thank you. Really appreciate it.
00:08:33.160 Well, I'm still working on my English as well.
00:08:37.480 So am I. So am I.
00:08:38.760 so so tell us as president trump sits down with uh xi jinping with the leader of the chinese
00:08:48.120 communist party the leader of the prc so many people have been asking about the role of taiwan
00:08:55.320 what is taiwan's message and view of this summit on from the uh 30 000 foot level
00:09:02.280 well look uh you just mentioned uh before commercials about taiwan status you know that
00:09:08.920 after uh that for many years taiwan sort of we've been in internationally in the limbo
00:09:16.040 you know it was sort of like ceased to exist we were outcast as we were sort of like uh
00:09:24.040 and nobody noticed us we were the kid not only not playing the game not in the field where we're
00:09:29.000 actually outside of the fence looking at other people playing the game and uh but we were like
00:09:36.760 hogworth you know in harry potter you know like we're there but we're not there but things have
00:09:42.520 changed the last few years especially after covet you know with the with people notice that the
00:09:47.800 semiconductors are mainly made in taiwan and that we are a forceful good especially in in the values
00:09:55.800 that we cherish, like-minded partners like the United States and Taiwan and other democratic
00:10:02.120 countries. At the same time, Taiwan has become an important partner of the United States,
00:10:10.440 not only in the geopolitical aspect of being on the front line of defense of democracy in
00:10:16.040 the First Island chain, but also becoming an important and relevant trading partner,
00:10:22.040 technology technological partner and and you know entrusted partner as part of the supply chain
00:10:28.520 non-resupply chain the united states so that has taken into consideration so when uh president
00:10:34.920 trump and xi jinping meet us today or well in in at the other side of the world uh the chinese have
00:10:42.840 already mentioned that they will mention taiwan that taiwan is part of the issue that they want
00:10:47.400 to talk with President Trump, including arms sales and other things. But I think President
00:10:53.720 Trump will make decisions obviously based on what is best on United States interests.
00:10:59.240 America first, I get it, we get it. But I trust and I think that the well-being of Taiwan,
00:11:05.960 being a free, democratic, sovereign entity as it is today, is to the interest of the United States
00:11:12.360 to continue having taiwan the way it is which is the status quo that we're all saying that we
00:11:17.640 should keep that nobody should try to change the status quo of the taiwan straits for the benefit
00:11:23.080 of peace stability especially not under economic coercion or military coercion and which is
00:11:29.160 beneficial to all at stake between including taiwan united states even china and japan etc
00:11:35.400 well i think that's exactly right the status quo is best for everyone when it comes to
00:11:43.560 the role economically this has been a huge issue for taiwan because china has worked through so
00:11:51.100 many of the international organizations to really try to block taiwan from having access to trade
00:11:57.500 and even access to foreign direct investment through these international organizations but
00:12:03.360 it's really because of the miracle of the semiconductor industry. This has given Taiwan
00:12:09.600 a specific strategic advantage, I believe, in the world market, even beyond all of this pressure
00:12:15.260 coming from PRC. Sure. You mentioned about the isolation that Taiwan is facing international
00:12:21.620 organizations. Well, the British monarchs were visiting the United States a couple of weeks ago,
00:12:28.800 not long ago, but when they were visiting, I was thinking of my president, President Lai Chinto,
00:12:34.580 who was also planning to visit our diplomatic ally in Africa, the kingdom of Iswatini, but he
00:12:40.480 was prevented from doing so at the last moment when his charter plane was overflight rights
00:12:47.060 through three African countries, mainly Seychelles, Mauritius, and Madagascar. They revoked the
00:12:53.460 of overflight rights to the FIR, which is Flight Information Region of these three countries,
00:13:00.140 making his charter plane impossible to fly to reach Africa.
00:13:04.940 But my president, after a few days, made it anyways, and that's the spirit of Taiwan.
00:13:10.140 We don't give up.
00:13:11.500 We are resilient.
00:13:15.900 We always try to achieve what we want to do.
00:13:19.800 It's sort of like the U.S. can-do spirit, and that's the spirit, the winning spirit
00:13:24.600 that the Taiwanese people have, and that's why TSMC in Taiwan is so successful, because
00:13:29.420 of that can-do and not giving enough spirit.
00:13:33.300 We were very resilient, so likewise, international organizations, we've been forced to leave
00:13:41.380 most international organizations.
00:13:43.220 For example, we were forced to leave the very first, the very same organization we've helped
00:13:48.020 to create, which is the World Health Organization.
00:13:50.800 We've been out of it since 1971, but we don't give up.
00:13:56.800 And nowadays, in many, many scores of world rankings
00:14:02.480 in healthcare, Taiwan ranks as number one
00:14:05.260 in universal healthcare.
00:14:07.040 So that's why, although we're isolated, we don't give up.
00:14:11.160 On the commercial aspect, believe it or not,
00:14:16.160 little Taiwan, we're the size of Maryland, about a third of Virginia. But we, starting from last
00:14:23.820 year, we have become United States fourth largest trading partner. Only your neighbors, Canada,
00:14:31.640 Mexico, and China do more trade than we do between us. Also, since last year, we have exported more
00:14:41.500 goods to united states than china has to the united states imagine that's unbelievable also
00:14:48.220 another data that i want to to share with with the audience is 12 years ago 85 percent of our
00:14:56.540 foreign direct investment was going to china because that's where all our manufacturing
00:15:01.260 bases were the factories were in china 12 years ago two years ago that fdi to china came down to
00:15:07.980 seven percent last year it was less than four percent and this year even lower but where is that
00:15:13.740 fdi from taiwan going two years ago 40 of our fdi was coming to the united states so this
00:15:20.380 transformation from taiwan centered where most of the advanced chips are made physically in taiwan
00:15:28.780 our our factories are also expanding into united states the high-end manufacturing from tsmc in
00:15:35.180 Arizona, in Phoenix. It's a project worth $165 billion and probably growing. And that is to
00:15:44.680 expand our manufacturing footprint, not only from Taiwan, but also to the United States to
00:15:50.720 manufacture the very high-end chips that is needed for the AI revolution, which is ongoing.
00:15:58.680 And this is something that President Trump worked on so closely in his first term,
00:16:04.140 something that, you know, even when President Biden was in, he continued the deal that President Trump had set in stone.
00:16:12.000 When you look at the CEOs, Jensen Huang and Elon Musk and so many others who have gone over,
00:16:20.040 how does Taiwan view this meeting of all of the CEOs, Silicon Valley, headed over to Beijing?
00:16:27.640 Well, I think, first of all, the fact that both leaders are meeting, from the United
00:16:36.120 States and PRC are meeting, it's a good thing. It's two big powers for them to meet and dissuade
00:16:44.680 any possible misunderstandings, to foster goodwill and bring some peace stability on the issues that
00:16:52.520 are occurring nowadays, such as Iran, such as Ukraine, such as even Taiwan, etc., it's
00:16:59.380 a good thing.
00:17:01.300 That many business leaders have been invited by President Trump to go along with him to
00:17:07.560 Beijing.
00:17:08.560 Well, I think it's a natural thing that presidents, when they travel to other countries, they
00:17:14.140 They invite large business delegations to travel with them so that they can foster mutual
00:17:23.700 trade relations.
00:17:25.100 I think a lot of talk has been done on US-China trade relationships, on the expert controls,
00:17:34.940 on the issue about chips, et cetera.
00:17:37.520 So I think that's a good occasion to talk amongst each other and bring some more stable
00:17:44.400 interaction between United States and China in terms of trade, in terms of investments
00:17:48.800 and other things.
00:17:51.220 Well, that's exactly right.
00:17:52.600 And President Trump understands that as well.
00:17:55.180 And while there's been so many to talk about this relationship, I think it's in the general
00:18:02.680 understanding that there isn't going to be a severing of the relationship.
00:18:06.020 But really what I would hope and I think a lot of people in the U.S. are saying is that we get a recalibration where Taiwan is brought more into the relationship, as you say, bumped all the way to number four, but also that it's better for American workers as well.
00:18:21.140 Yes, indeed. Well, one thing that President Trump did in his first term, which is important
00:18:29.460 and has been ongoing ever since, followed by President Biden and into this second administration,
00:18:35.540 but also by other countries in Europe, et cetera. That is, when People's Republic of China was
00:18:41.220 allowed to join the World Trade Organization, I think back in 2001, PRC entered, became a member
00:18:48.740 on the notion that they were going to follow some reforms that they pledged that they're
00:18:53.620 going to open markets that's going to respect certain rules and regulations including intellectual
00:18:58.420 property and those rules those rules were never followed mr ambassador one moment if if we may
00:19:06.340 uh we'll be right back in one second uh
00:19:13.060 You talk about influences. These are influences and they're friends of mine.
00:19:21.380 Jack Posobiec. Where's Jack?
00:19:24.760 He's done a great job.
00:19:29.320 All right, folks, Jack Posobiec, we are back here.
00:19:32.420 Human Events Daily.
00:19:33.780 And we are on with Ambassador Yu of Taiwan.
00:19:39.220 and mr ambassador if if you if i may uh sorry about getting cut off uh please finish your
00:19:44.820 comment that you were just making right before the break well i was saying that uh the prc when they
00:19:51.700 joined the wto in 2001 they promised to do all these reforms open markets you know just one of
00:19:58.260 the players as we all do in following trade you know rules as we all do but they didn't they they
00:20:05.460 didn't follow the rules but they gained all the benefits of open markets that we did open to them
00:20:12.340 and and they gain all the benefits they read the profits and gain a lot of money they became the
00:20:18.180 export market to the world but at the same time they use that they use that money to engage in
00:20:24.420 the largest peacetime military build up in in in recent memory history human history uh they have
00:20:33.300 no threats to their borders, but yet they are expanding their military to accomplish
00:20:40.900 what Xi Jinping says is the Chinese dream to be the number one power in the world.
00:20:45.060 And United States is getting in the way, unfortunately.
00:20:50.980 So at this juncture, what President Trump did in his first term was, he told the Chinese,
00:20:58.260 look, you guys are not playing fair, you should follow the rules, do what we all do.
00:21:02.740 you know, even the playing field. Otherwise, I will impose tariffs and sanctions on you."
00:21:08.980 And that's what he did. That was the start of the commercial war between China and the United
00:21:14.100 States back then, and it was followed since. And what they're doing right now in the United States
00:21:19.300 and PRC is continuing with this series of negotiations so that hopefully China can heed
00:21:28.580 and play the rules as it should be.
00:21:32.740 I think that's exactly right. And now speaking of playing by the rules, one of the countries that we know that President Trump has really been focused on in terms of playing by the rules is Iran.
00:21:44.020 And this comes to the question of the Iran crisis, the oil crisis and energy crisis that the world is now embarked in.
00:21:52.660 And a real question as will the PRC come in and put leverage on Iran?
00:21:59.380 And now, of course, many questions as to whether or not they will seek status or status change vis-a-vis Taiwan in terms of any such deal.
00:22:09.960 Have you heard these comments and looking at the situation?
00:22:14.000 How does Taiwan view this?
00:22:16.360 Look, the Iran crisis right now is straight up a move closed because of what's happening there.
00:22:26.080 Iran is closing the strait.
00:22:28.780 It's causing a lot of disruptions in world trade and world economies.
00:22:32.940 So not only the United States, Taiwan, we're all facing some issues with energy, with rising
00:22:42.020 prices in commodities, et cetera.
00:22:44.980 But we're not the only ones.
00:22:46.980 PRC China is also suffering the same thing, and again, they're the ones who will consume
00:22:54.740 a lot of the energy from that region, especially, I think they're the number one users of Iranian
00:22:58.880 oil, et cetera.
00:23:00.500 So they have a lot at stake also.
00:23:03.040 So when President Trump and Xi Jinping meet, I think the Iran issue is not only many people
00:23:08.960 think that it's United States trying to convince or ask China to do something about Iran.
00:23:13.500 I think the Chinese themselves want the Iran crisis to end as quickly as possible.
00:23:21.960 As for Taiwan, obviously, we are affected also, but as because of our issue with mainland
00:23:32.840 China for many decades, again, the Chinese aggression on Taiwan didn't just start now
00:23:39.700 or a few years ago when the DPP, the current ruling party became the party in government.
00:23:49.000 has continued for almost 77 years when the PRC became a country back in Beijing. They've
00:23:55.400 been trying to get Taiwan ever since. But what I'm trying to say is this affects everyone.
00:24:03.680 Taiwan, we have a strategic reserve to counter a crisis with China if it happens, but we
00:24:11.860 hope that the Iran crisis will end as quickly as possible also.
00:24:14.780 But at the same time, there's been saying about the actions that the United States engaged
00:24:19.920 on Iran and Venezuela, will it give Xi Jinping a green light to act against Taiwan similarly?
00:24:28.940 Because if you can do this, I can do this to others, I can do it to Taiwan.
00:24:32.600 Actually, I see it the other way around.
00:24:35.380 I think Xi Jinping has looked at what the United States is doing in Venezuela and Iran
00:24:41.940 in other parts of the world, and they've realized the United States is willing to use all instruments,
00:24:47.560 all resources available to accomplish your goals, and your troops, your forces are battle-tested,
00:24:54.500 a lot of experience, your weapons also, and they have to have a hard look at what he's trying to
00:25:00.680 do if he ever tries to do something against Taiwan or the entire Indo-Pacific region.
00:25:06.020 So it's a warning to Xi Jinping, actually.
00:25:08.180 And Mr. Abdat, that's an excellent point. Mr. Ambassador is also going to ask, and just off of that, how do you view the military relationship between the U.S. and Taiwan under President Trump?
00:25:21.020 Well, the United States has, based on the Taiwan Relations Act that was enacted in 1979,
00:25:33.100 you know, the United States is bound by this law to have to provide sellers sufficient arms
00:25:42.140 to measure it to the threat that we're receiving. And as people who plucked China has increased its
00:25:48.620 aggression against taiwan the last last few oh guys i think we may i think we may have lost the
00:26:00.020 ambassador there but uh we will uh let's let's guys i see that we're about a minute till break
00:26:04.820 let's see if we can work on getting him back up i'd like to uh formally say thank you for being
00:26:09.640 on the program here but folks you just saw the ambassador to taiwan and he talked about very
00:26:15.680 interestingly, we got into the Strait of Hormuz. We also talked about Venezuela and we talked about
00:26:20.660 the Iran situation in, uh, in a wider context. And that's a photo of me right there, by the way,
00:26:27.200 on patrol 2016 in the Taiwan straight back when I was in the Navy. And he said that those are
00:26:35.720 viewed potentially as a warning to Xi Jinping to not mess with Taiwan and the status quo because
00:26:44.280 U.S. troops and U.S. military are battle tested and this president is willing to use them.
00:26:50.620 Very strong words from the ambassador. We'll see if we can get him back up just to be able to
00:26:55.660 conclude our interview. Very honored once again for Human Events to have him. I'll be right back
00:27:00.700 here with Real America's Voice. And Jack, where is Jack? Where is Jack? Where is he? Jack, I want
00:27:09.440 to see you. Great job, Jack. Thank you. What a job you do. You know, we have an incredible
00:27:16.880 thing. We're always talking about the fake news and the bad, but we have guys and these
00:27:21.580 are the guys should be getting policies. All right, Jack. We are back live here. Human

00:28:31.780 protect your future and stand with me fighting for america all right guys double checking here
00:28:37.080 all right we are still working on getting the ambassador back up love to be able to say uh
00:28:42.400 just just to say thank you for joining us and everything that he's doing because it was a great
00:28:46.760 interview and uh if that doesn't work we'll have to get him on in person or something like that
00:28:51.780 um but uh you know it was it was just a great um you know great be able to chance to sit down
00:28:57.420 and to receive him here on the program so that you guys could hear directly from the Taiwan side.
00:29:04.360 And in fact, to hear perhaps an unvarnished, or should I say uncensored, view from Taiwan.
00:29:10.380 Well, there is someone who can help us to view China uncensored.
00:29:14.580 It is in fact the host of China Uncensored.
00:29:16.700 Chris Chappell joins us now.
00:29:17.720 What's up, Chris?
00:29:19.200 Hey, that was a good intro.
00:29:22.020 We'd like to segue.
00:29:22.860 That was a good segue, right?
00:29:24.160 We do a little segue every once in a while.
00:29:29.060 I appreciate that.
00:29:30.120 Yeah, yeah.
00:29:30.620 I mean, this is an exciting time to see Trump going back to China.
00:29:35.160 First time a U.S. president.
00:29:36.640 They didn't ever have Biden over there, I don't think.
00:29:40.200 So this is big.
00:29:41.460 This is new.
00:29:43.200 Well, last I checked, this is the first time there has been a U.S. president.
00:29:48.380 So Trump and Xi met in South Korea since he became president again.
00:29:53.740 But this is the first time that a U.S. president has returned to China since COVID.
00:29:58.380 And I look at it through the frame of that, through the lens of that, and the fact that we've never really gotten that level of what I would say is, I mean, reparations.
00:30:11.200 We've never really had accountability for that.
00:30:14.220 You've got a guy out on up with Rand Paul today from the CIA saying that, hey, the CIA worked with Dr. Fauci to to to ban and block this, you know, the fact that this came out of the Wuhan lab.
00:30:27.900 And, you know, I'm just going to say my opinion, it probably was something that was designed, you know, potentially look looking for use as as a weapon or something like that.
00:30:35.780 What do you think? Role that the events of COVID-19 sort of play in resetting this relationship, because obviously, you know,
00:30:44.100 there's trillions of dollars at stake. Oh yeah. Well, I just want to, I just want to lead with
00:30:49.900 one. The thing that amuses me the most about this meeting is, is, you know, about the thing with
00:30:54.940 Rubio, right? How Rubio, they, they put sanctions on him. They banned him from coming to China for
00:31:01.780 either something he, a bill he introduced about the Uyghurs or the Falun Gong organ harvesting.
00:31:07.940 So he was banned from China. Trump says, Hey, I'm bringing, I'm bringing little Marco with me.
00:31:13.500 and uh then they have to cave what they did was they changed like a single character
00:31:18.360 in rubio's name to get around the the ban on him it's just a perfect troll again no it wasn't
00:31:26.300 marco rubio who was banned it was marco dubio we met marco dubio you guys know him guy it's
00:31:34.460 totally different but yes that i just i just that does show you that's um that's classic
00:31:40.700 classic chinese pragmatism right there they know how to get around their own laws so all right so
00:31:48.240 so real question what what was the real question how things are different now uh post-covid well
00:31:53.340 i mean does do you think covid is hanging over this meeting because honestly i'll just say that
00:31:59.880 as looking at it from the outside and you know having the context that i do i don't see it as
00:32:04.780 playing the role that i really think that it should be and i think it's something that a lot
00:32:09.060 of us, you know, going into it really should bring up more because this was something that
00:32:13.760 happened that was absolutely horrific. And I'm sorry, but I'm never going to forget those videos
00:32:17.760 of the Chinese students, the foreign students coming in and buying up all of the masks.
00:32:23.100 And you remember all of the all that stuff. And they were being told to by the embassies and being
00:32:28.300 told to by these United Front work group organizations over and over that we're going
00:32:34.100 to screw over the Americans. And I mean, that was just one facet of it. But that to me showed
00:32:38.720 intent. Yeah, to me, the scariest thing about the whole COVID thing is just how little
00:32:47.760 accountability there was on so many levels. And it seems to have just been kind of swept under the
00:32:53.240 rug. Nobody wants to think about it. Nobody wants to talk about it. And we're just putting that
00:32:57.800 whole period behind us and just moving forward. And looking at what's happening in the meeting,
00:33:03.300 I mean, nothing has happened yet. So we can't only speculate. But it seems like that is not
00:33:08.380 really on the table of anything everyone's focused on i think the big story is trump
00:33:15.900 bringing all these ceos with him and what kind of deals are going to come out of it and the fact
00:33:22.760 that we're here again talking about making deals with you know the authoritarian communist regime
00:33:26.720 that unleashed covet on us it's kind of mind-boggling no it it certainly is and by the way
00:33:35.400 folks i'm told that we do have the ambassador back with us so chris just hold that thought
00:33:39.280 for a second mr ambassador we have you back yes i noticed you were speaking with chris i i watched
00:33:46.160 his uh show the podcast china censored so hard to hear chris also chappell all right well we'll
00:33:51.500 have to uh i'll make sure to connect you on uh after this so you can we can get you up on china
00:33:57.240 uncensored as well because you're giving us the view of taiwan uncensored and chris always helps
00:34:02.660 us out with China. I'm sure you can work together. I just wanted to give you a chance
00:34:06.240 to conclude your remarks and to thank you for joining us today here on Human Events.
00:34:11.860 Thank you. Thank you for having me. Well, we're talking about the security aspect of
00:34:16.860 U.S. and Taiwan relations. There is a Taiwan Relations Act, which was enacted in 1979,
00:34:23.760 a law of the United States, which the United States is bound to provide Taiwan to sell us
00:34:29.800 sufficient arms for self-defense to defend ourselves against the aggression that we face,
00:34:36.060 primarily from PRC. And U.S. has been doing so throughout the years, including President Trump's
00:34:43.400 first term and the current term. President Trump in his second term, he announced an $11 billion
00:34:50.700 dollar sale to Taiwan late last year. And we have been procuring additional defense
00:35:00.880 budgets to try to cover that purchase and any other purchases that may come along in
00:35:08.020 the near future. So that is going on very well. And at the same time, we're also doing
00:35:13.640 our best to not only modernize, to improve our self-defense capability, to do better
00:35:19.840 with asymmetric warfare, as well as to improve our military readiness, our reserves, our
00:35:27.240 whole society resiliency in times of crisis.
00:35:32.260 All of that is being done with some input from the United States, and we appreciate
00:35:36.800 all the effort that you are doing, not only government, but also from Congress.
00:35:41.820 We have a strong bipartisan, bicameral support from Congress, which has enacted many bills
00:35:48.760 that has included pro-Taiwan bills or content to help Taiwan be stronger and better to defend
00:35:58.900 ourselves against this neighbor that we have on the other side of the strait.
00:36:05.320 But also, I want to mention the bountiful work that we're doing with the United States in terms
00:36:12.680 of trade development and investment. January and February of this year, we signed
00:36:18.360 respectively a Memorandum on Investment and an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade.
00:36:24.400 We also signed a mutual declaration on tax silica and economic security, where it has
00:36:32.100 set the foundation for further investments into the United States and opening up trade.
00:36:40.120 As you know, in Phoenix, one of our companies, TSMC, is making an investment of over 165
00:36:48.340 billion dollars just on one large campus to bring out high-end manufacturing of semiconductors.
00:36:56.340 But just recently, the Select USA event that just happened early May,
00:37:02.340 Taiwanese delegation was one of the largest participating with 113 companies and 207
00:37:09.780 participants, whereas there was an announcement that there will be an additional 35 billion
00:37:16.820 dollars of investments from 20 Taiwanese companies flowing into the United States, as well as we also
00:37:22.940 announced that our state-owned petroleum companies signed a long-term lease contract with one of your
00:37:30.020 U.S. companies called Chenier for long-term LNG purchase, etc. So that is ongoing.
00:37:37.140 The economic relationship is so strong. Mr. Ambassador, thank you. Thank you again,
00:37:42.060 and we hope to have you back, maybe in person, here at Human Events.
00:37:44.760 thank you jack i would love to thank you very much we'll do that maybe next time in taiwan
00:37:50.200 we'll see all right right back final segment with chris chappell of china uncensored we're
00:37:56.600 going to call this the jack basobic appreciation hour i can say confidently i believe i think josh
00:38:01.560 shapiro would be the vice presidential nominee if it wasn't for jack basobic and that that is i'm
00:38:06.040 I'm not going to be honest.
00:38:12.520 All right, folks.
00:38:13.220 Jack Kasek, we're back live, Human Events Daily.
00:38:15.820 All right, but guys, let's chat a little bit.
00:38:18.140 You spend a third of your life in bed.
00:38:21.320 So why are you sleeping on junk?
00:38:24.220 Stop doing it.

00:39:11.480 slash poso and use promo code poso that's ghostbed.com slash poso all right we're back on
00:39:17.520 with chris chappell from china uncensored chris thank you for uh for taking that pause there for
00:39:22.380 us i appreciate that but hey the ambassador apparently is a big fan of yours that's great
00:39:28.060 yeah i hope to have him on the show i'd love to talk to him happy to uh happy to facilitate i'll
00:39:33.340 send over the uh the contact info for for his people but you know the fact of the matter is
00:39:38.940 like you got the taiwanese delegation watching your guys stuff this is really all about what
00:39:43.700 i've said the rise of bricks and what role does bricks play in the international uh in the
00:39:51.540 international space because you know we saw what this taiwan or the excuse me the iranian toll
00:39:56.340 out of the Strait of Hormuz, they're taking this thing in Chinese yuan. That is a proof. That is a
00:40:04.260 proof of concept operation. They're trying to get yuan as potentially, maybe not the world reserve
00:40:11.180 currency, but an alternate reserve currency. How do you see that as you look at this meeting that's
00:40:18.440 taking shape here? I mean, that's a good question. The China trip can easily be like a Rorschach
00:40:25.780 test for anyone, like depending on what you want to see happen, how you feel about Trump,
00:40:30.380 you kind of see what you want to see. So it could be that, you know, the reason Trump is bringing
00:40:34.180 all these CEOs with him is because he wants to kind of get under that alternative global economic
00:40:40.780 model, get American companies more invested in China, which I think would be most likely a
00:40:47.120 horrible mistake. But I mean, clearly Trump is going into this with a strong hand. Everything
00:40:54.000 he's been doing internationally this year from getting maduro maduro to epic fury uh really like
00:41:01.460 if you want to understand the ccp watch a mob movie and that's what trump is going in meeting
00:41:06.920 the don the don is meeting the don of china and he's got a strong hand he knows he's got a strong
00:41:13.380 economy he's got the u.s economy is always strong uh he's got a strong military china is in a weakened
00:41:21.100 position now because of its terrible economy the real estate bubble blowing up i feel like she is
00:41:28.460 on the back foot so trump might be able to pull something off but i just hope he doesn't go back
00:41:34.860 to the old engagement school of let's do business with china because there's no private business in
00:41:42.700 no there isn't and i think that's something he's cognizant of and also you know you've got people
00:41:47.980 like steven miller and others over there these are guys who remember what the covet experience
00:41:53.100 was like and they're putting american interests first there's no question at the end of the day
00:41:58.860 do i think we're going to completely sever the relationship with china china yeah probably not
00:42:03.660 but ultimately can we recalibrate it so it's at the point where the trade imbalance is much more
00:42:11.340 in in our favor or at least at some kind of parody i think the key to that would be
00:42:18.440 an administration and american population that understands that china is not you know it wasn't
00:42:25.360 what bill clinton sold to us of you know if we you know as long as we don't give them the back
00:42:31.280 of our hands uh if we you know get them rich we'll become a democracy we need to understand
00:42:34.980 that the chinese communist party is an existential threat to the united states and anything
00:42:39.160 what's the saying you have to distrust and verify
00:42:42.680 yeah exactly and you know it it i love what you said about the mob mentality because that's
00:42:52.200 exactly what it is you talk to the taiwanese you talk to the republic of china that's a country
00:42:56.600 that still has and yes i said country that's a that still has the the idea of rule of law
00:43:02.760 that still idea that still idealizes contracts that actually abides by them that's someone who
00:43:08.460 actually wants to work within the systems that we've put together. When it comes to PRC, when
00:43:13.060 it comes to the Chinese Communist Party, they don't care what agreement they sign with Americans
00:43:17.680 or any Westerners because they're going to do whatever they want and they're going to tell you
00:43:24.220 whatever they want up front. And I think that I do have to say, though, I do give credit to
00:43:29.480 President Trump here because I think he's probably the first president who's been very upfront about
00:43:34.820 that about wanting to manage some kind of business relationship with china you mean
00:43:41.860 no no just calling them out on on all of this crap calling them out on the fact that they don't
00:43:46.900 actually live up to the world trade center or world trade organization um obligations that
00:43:52.740 they're not willing to play by the rules i mean yeah there's been politicians that have like
00:43:56.420 paid lip service to it but trump's the only one who actually slapped tariffs on them
00:44:00.020 them. Yeah, I think this is an important point. It's really what's key to seeing what happens as
00:44:06.240 a result of this meeting. On China and Censor, we've talked about the, we call it the Trump
00:44:11.000 distortion field, where basically however you feel about Trump kind of taints your view of what he
00:44:17.580 does. And so a lot of people I know get caught up in, you know, Trump will be like, oh, Xi Jinping's
00:44:25.840 a great friend of mine. We've got a great relationship. But then you got to see what
00:44:30.120 he actually does. So I know throughout this whole meeting, we'll see, you know, the kind of
00:44:34.960 poetry Trump is known for. But we have to actually see what concrete actions he and his administration
00:44:42.040 take. Because if people just get caught up in him saying like, you know, something nice about
00:44:47.620 Xi Jinping, but he's doing something to completely dismantle the PRC's grip on, you know,
00:44:53.580 rare earths, for instance, uh, you'll, you'll miss the bigger picture. So we really have to
00:44:58.900 stay focused on what actually tangibly happens as a result of this meeting.
00:45:05.080 No, I agree with you. Do you think so on the last bit on this Iran question, uh, for China to
00:45:11.920 potentially use leverage on Taiwan or excuse me on, on Iran, do you think they're going to have
00:45:17.900 to give up something that the U S is going to have to give us something like Taiwan status
00:45:21.560 or something economically to get them to be willing to pick up the phone and start calling
00:45:28.040 the mullahs? That's a good question. The Taiwan issue, they put out on Twitter, that's one of
00:45:37.460 their red lines that they absolutely do not want to cross. It's tricky because I think the U.S.
00:45:44.300 doesn't have to give them anything to get them to pressure Iran, because the longer this goes on,
00:45:52.040 I think it's going to be bad for China. And, you know, Xi Jinping, he's got so much on his plate,
00:45:58.120 the economy is in horrible shape. He just sentenced two top former defense ministers to death,
00:46:05.580 the suspended death sentence. But he's undergoing massive purges within his own military, I believe,
00:46:11.200 because he discovered the whole thing is kind of a little bit of a paper tiger now with a lot of
00:46:16.140 equipment that doesn't work right because of corruption. So this is why I say he's not on,
00:46:21.980 he's not in a strong position coming into this meeting. He's going to put on a lot of smoke and
00:46:26.300 mirrors to make it seem like it's not that case. But I think this is a uniquely, it's a unique
00:46:34.040 historic time where the CCP is in a very weak position and the U.S. is holding a lot of the
00:46:39.980 cards. No, I think it's exactly right. And me, like yourself, you know, we're going to be
00:46:47.160 watching. So Human Events and War Room are actually going to be doing a special live
00:46:52.080 broadcast later tonight and have to have to reach out to see if you're if you're interested
00:46:56.320 or are you guys doing anything over China Uncensored? Tonight? We don't have any plans
