00:00:00.000Hey guys, it's Jack. I wanted to let you know that we're starting a new push for subscriptions
00:00:06.860here on Human Events Daily. So make sure that when you're listening to this podcast, you
00:00:11.980hit subscribe, you download it, and you share it with five of your friends. Make sure they're
00:00:17.420all going and downloading as well, because we need to get the signal out as much as possible.
00:00:22.660Look, we've done so much over the past couple of years since this show started, and we're
00:00:26.840only going to do so much more. Let's get it.
00:00:34.040This is what happens when the fourth turning meets fifth generation warfare.
00:00:43.160A commentator, international social media sensation, and former Navy intelligence veteran.
00:00:49.760This is Human Events with your host, Jack Posobiec. Christ is king. And right now we are
00:00:55.260getting this breaking news that's coming in from Axios. He says, Scoop, U.S. and Iran reach deal,
00:01:00.700but need Trump's final approval. That is according to two U.S. officials and a regional source
00:01:05.920involved in the mediation efforts, speaking there with Barack Ravid over at Axios. So again,
00:01:11.380that's just coming in. And of course, you know, we'll see how that all plays out.
00:01:17.460Welcome to Human Events Daily. I am Bo Davidson, filling in momentarily for Jack,
00:01:22.240as he is currently in the White House press briefing room.
00:01:25.620He's awaiting a briefing by Treasury Secretary Scott Besson.
00:01:28.660So we will be sure to get you to that in just a few moments as Scott goes live.
00:01:33.380But we do have some breaking news that you saw during the cold open regarding the Iran war.
00:01:37.760And this regards a memo of understanding, as otherwise known as an MOU.
00:01:42.280That's what we're talking about when we talk about memo of understanding.
00:01:44.700And I want to give you the details to this because this has been breaking over the past 24 hours.
00:01:48.980And we want to make sure that our Human Events Daily audience is informed.
00:01:52.060So here are just some of the kind of the overview bullet points.
00:01:55.540The United States and Iranian negotiators have reached an agreement on a 60-day memorandum of understanding
00:02:01.860to extend the ceasefire and launch negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.
00:02:07.120But President Trump has yet to give his final approval.
00:02:10.840This is according to two U.S. officials and a regional source involved in the mediation, according to Axios.
00:02:16.820That's who you saw in the cold open there.
00:02:18.400So President Trump has not given his final approval on this.
00:02:21.220My understanding is that he needs a couple days to think about this, but this is a groundbreaking component as we move towards the path towards peace.
00:02:30.380Now, the MOU would be the most significant breakthrough since the start of the conflict in Iran.
00:03:26.880There's a quote here that says the president relayed to the mediators that he wants a couple of days to think about it, as I mentioned earlier.
00:03:34.220So we don't think that President Trump is going to immediately say yes to this.
00:03:37.900He's going to need a couple days to think about it.
00:03:39.540And this all, of course, plays into the art of the deal, which we will get into in a moment.
00:03:43.060But this is the guy you want in the room, of course.
00:03:45.340This is who's championing our cause for the plight of America and for the world, as he said.
00:03:49.420He's not just doing it for the United States.
00:03:50.680He's doing this for peace in the world.
00:03:52.960Now, U.S. officials said the 60-day MOU will state that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will be, quote, unrestricted.
00:04:00.520U.S. officials said this means no tolls and no harassment, and that Iran will have to remove all mines from the Strait within 30 days.
00:04:09.600The U.S. naval blockade will also be lifted, but, and this is an important component here, folks,
00:04:14.300That will happen in proportion to the restoration of commercial shipping.
00:05:36.960Iran launched a ballistic missile on Kuwait
00:05:39.440and that was intercepted, of course.0.99
00:05:41.640But again, this is all part of the art of the deal.
00:05:44.460You know the book that President Trump wrote,
00:05:46.540this is the guy that you want in the room where it happens,
00:05:50.040as the song goes from the show Hamilton.
00:05:52.700Now, I want the Humanovaid's daily audience
00:05:55.040to understand and think about the alternative to this.
00:05:58.860If Kamala Harris had become president, for instance,
00:06:01.680Can you imagine the disaster that this would be in these negotiations if Kamala Harris were in these negotiations or anyone actually from a previous Democratic administration?
00:11:45.840So you can go online to the app that went up today and learn.
00:11:50.520And I think that this is going to be I've been a big proponent of financial literacy, and I think this is going to be one of the greatest real time financial literacy educations in history, because it won't be like there's a street in New York called Wall Street.
00:12:07.220This is what I don't really understand what happens there. American family is going to be able to look on their phone every day and see. And, you know, I think it's going to drive people to try to understand what they've got here.
00:12:20.120I think we're going to create a generation of shareholders.
00:12:27.520I guess first, well, we're starting to see the disruption of the oil supply and food straightforward moves affect economic data.
00:12:35.620First, is there a deal on the table for 60-day ceasefire to continue that?
00:12:40.540And then second, how fast could inflation then recede or retreat?
00:12:45.360Or is inflation sticky because the PCE was at a three-year high?
00:12:48.920Well, first of all, PCE today, month over month, was 0.2, which was, we're looking at decimal points, but the estimate was 0.3, so one month doesn't a trend make.
00:13:01.740And what we've seen is actually oil prices are down about 10% in May.
00:13:07.240There are almost 2,000 ships waiting to come out of the Gulf, and I think the oil market is going to be very well supplied on the other side of this,
00:13:15.360and that we could see prices come down very quickly.
00:13:49.060And the Strait of Vermouth, back to your question on energy, has to, free transit, navigation of the seas, has to be free and open as it was before.
00:14:06.460How long until we see your signature next to President Trump's face on a $250 bill?
00:14:18.920Well, again, as Treasury Secretary, I have two mandates for U.S. currency.
00:14:25.080At present, no living person can be on U.S. currency, and the currency must stay in God we trust.
00:14:32.220So right now there is proposed legislation in front of the House, in front of the Senate, to change the first requirement so that a living person, Donald J. Trump, could be on a $250 bill.
00:14:45.780So it's all in the hands of the, it's all up on Capitol Hill.
00:14:51.920So at Treasury, we prepare things in advance.
00:14:57.260So we have prepared in advance that if the legislation is passed, but we will stick to the law.
00:15:03.800And something that came up yesterday, also at the Cabinet meeting, President Trump said,
00:15:09.300Oman will behave just like everybody else, or we will have to blow them up.
00:15:14.480Are you guys back there in the West Wing making plans for a new war with Oman?0.68
00:15:19.360Again, I think the president wanted to punctuate freedom of navigation in the strait.
00:15:25.300I had a call with the Omani ambassador this morning, and he assured me that there were no plans for tolling the strait.
00:15:33.300As he said, our countries have had 200 years of good relations.
00:32:04.160We've made substantial progress, and I think in the weeks and months ahead, we're going to have a lot to report.
00:32:10.320One thing that did go underreported that I would point out to all of you is the IRS is now giving guidance on the Form 990,
00:32:20.140which nonprofits, they have to file, and we are going to encourage or demand that nonprofits know their grant recipients.
00:32:31.600So, if a grant recipient is violent, if they are suppressing people's rights, then you are responsible for that.
00:32:41.460And I think that's a very good first step.
00:32:47.480There's new government data that shows that Americans are now saving a smaller share of their incomes than at any time over the past four years.
00:32:54.480Are you seeing signs that American households are dipping into their savings to pay for the higher cost of things like gas and groceries?
00:33:01.780And does data like that concern you right now?
00:33:04.320So academic literature would tell you a lower savings rate can mean one of two things.
00:33:10.160The kind of the doomer view that you took or that people have more confidence or it could be something else.
00:33:17.880because, you know, for instance, stock market gains or 401k gains might not show up in savings.
00:33:24.180So they're looking at that, think that they can draw down their household savings.
00:33:32.380You're obviously concerned about the risks posed by advanced AI models like Mithos to critical infrastructure.
00:33:39.300The financial sector is concerned as well.
00:33:41.920What types of changes are being considered to the AI executive order so we can pass?
00:33:47.620And do you believe that an AI executive order needs to include the pre-public access for government?
00:33:54.340Again, we're working very closely with the large language labs.
00:34:00.200They've been excellent partners, and we are going to get a solution that solves for the maximum calculus.
00:34:06.960What we want to do, the U.S. is the AI leader in the world.
00:37:03.660Is it accurate that the General Counsel of the Treasury Department resigned over that?
00:37:07.540I will not be taking any other questions, I mean, I will not be taking any other questions.
00:37:11.340On the sanctions, sir, given the scale of the assault from Russia on Kyiv in recent days
00:37:18.220and the fact that diplomacy seems to have settled down,
00:37:22.360there is no diplomatic talks happening right now between Russia, Ukraine, or the U.S.,
00:37:26.200what about sanctions? Is the U.S. considering sanctions on Russia at this time?
00:37:31.040Well, the U.S., this administration, has put the hardest sanctions on Russia of any country.
00:37:37.020So let's review how the sanctions regime has gone since the Russian action on Ukraine.
00:37:49.260The Biden administration put on very what I would call mild sanctions because they were worried about gasoline prices going up into an election.
00:37:59.460It would be an unstatesman-like sanctions.
00:38:02.680that probably the worst national security advisor in the history of the country Jake Sullivan
00:38:07.060in an act of bravery on his way out the door in January they raised the sanction level
00:38:13.620on behalf of the Trump administration. We let those in situ when we took office.
00:38:21.420They have fast forward to October and President Trump instructed me to sanction the two largest
00:38:28.580Russian oil companies, Luke Oil and Rosneft, which we did. No other government has done that.
00:38:35.760So no one has done more sanctions than the Trump administration on Russian oil.
00:38:41.360so yeah no no no no here who wants to own this gray hair no gray hair no you don't have gray
00:38:59.100here. Maybe you do. When you had breakfast this morning with Fed Chair, did you request that the
00:39:10.380Fed lower interest rates? I had breakfast with Chair Powell 41 times, and I never did that.
00:39:21.420Last question. Governor Gavin Newsom has floated this idea of a 100% state tax on Californians
00:39:28.860who have received money from President Trump's anti-weaponization fund?
00:39:32.880Your response to the governor's call from President Trump?1.00
00:39:44.880All right, and that was Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, of course,
00:39:53.740delivering some remarks about the economy, Trump accounts, Iran,
00:39:56.980and a number of other questions that he fielded.
00:39:59.960I think the topic of the day, of course, is the Trump account.
00:40:03.120This is interesting and personal to me because I just had a child about three weeks ago
00:40:07.040who will be eligible for the Trump account.
00:40:08.920So earlier before this broadcast, I went ahead and downloaded the app.
00:40:13.060I just haven't started it yet, but I just kind of want to show you what it looks like.
00:40:16.780And you may be able to, guys, if you can zoom in here, I'll hold this as steady as I can.
00:40:20.040You can see Welcome to Trump Accounts.
00:40:22.560And there's just a little slider here where you can see some of the things that it's going to mention here.
00:40:25.880eligible children start with a $1,000 contribution. Money is invested in U.S. companies with a
00:40:32.100history, and it moves on to contribute up to $5,000 each year to accelerate potential.
00:40:37.420And an 18-year child can use the money to jumpstart their future. And then it goes back
00:40:41.600to the beginning. So this is the app that they've launched. I'm on Apple's iOS, but of course it
00:40:46.060has been launched for Android as well. This is interesting because this is the first time the
00:40:52.400federal government has been able to get involved in Trump accounts and invest for your children's
00:40:57.900future. And whether you voted for Donald Trump or not, that's irrelevant because he actually cares
00:41:03.000and his administration cares about your kids' futures. And this is novel for me. It's novel
00:41:07.840for everyone else that's having a child in this window of time. Now, I do want to get to some of
00:41:12.600the questions that he answered. Benny Harmony, of course, had a question there about these Trump
00:41:17.120accounts and about the app and what the app can do in terms of financial literacy. And according
00:41:21.640to Treasury Secretary Scott Besson, he said that 38 percent of Americans have no exposure to
00:41:27.600equities. And so he believes that this is going to usher in a new era of financial literacy. And
00:41:33.440I think that's important because even with Julio Gonzalez, who's the president of Rav Español and
00:41:38.280who I interview from time to time, president of engineer tax services, he talks about the
00:41:43.020importance of financial literacy and how important that is. So the U.S. government will be providing
00:41:48.440$1,000 as a seed investment. And Treasury Secretary said he wanted to create a generation
00:41:54.540of shareholders. This is a very novel, original idea. We've heard of Trump Rx. We have heard of
00:41:59.680Trump IRA that's coming soon. But right now, it's all about the Trump account. Now, let's get to
00:42:04.340some of the bullet points that the Secretary talked about on the economy. This was just at
00:42:08.280the top of his briefing. He talked about the fact that 33 percent of taxpayers got higher returns
00:42:14.700this year. 33%. That's a pretty good number. 44% of taxpayers claimed one of the four signature
00:42:22.000Trump tax benefits. We know there was no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, no tax on Social
00:42:27.960Security, and of course GDP, he said, was positive for four quarters. Energy dominance, a big theme
00:42:34.140of the Secretary's speech today. The U.S. is now the largest energy exporter. That's novel as well.
00:42:41.120That's something to celebrate. Unemployment remains at 4.3 percent. Average 401k is up almost
00:42:46.840$30,000. That's incredible as well. Now, on Iran, before we get to this break, which I know is hard,
00:42:53.200this was interesting. They asked him several times if a deal had been reached, which is what
00:42:57.080we reported at the top of the show. Scott Bessett did not seem to indicate that that had been reached
00:43:01.880just yet. Of course, he has not seen the president today, so we don't know if there's information
00:43:04.840that he may not know. The point being is that he didn't want to get ahead of the president.
00:43:08.360He has not seen the president today, but he's got several red lines.
00:43:12.160President Trump has several red lines and he didn't seem to indicate that the 60 day agreement was in place as of the information that he has currently.
00:43:19.220We'll make sure to stay on top of this.
00:43:20.340We want to hit a break right now and we will be back and hopefully Jack Posobiec will be back at Pebble Beach when we return.
00:43:25.580All this, the Jack Posobiec Appreciation Hour, I can say confidently, I believe,
00:43:41.020I think Josh Shapiro would be the vice presidential nominee if it wasn't for Jack Posobiec.
00:50:27.460Tell us about what you thought of the secretary's answer.
00:50:30.220Well, Jack, my biggest question was a lot of families in America, working class families, normal families,
00:50:35.460they maybe don't have the financial expertise that these Wall Street types do when it comes to stock markets and investing.
00:50:41.820I mean, me specifically, it was a question that kind of hit close to me because that's how I am.
00:50:46.580And so a lot of people you're hearing in the media, people are saying that this is only for wealthy Americans, these Trump accounts, because they're the ones that know how to operate money.
00:50:55.820And so a lot of the maybe lower class people are, it confuses them, the financial verbiage.
00:51:01.860So I asked him about that and he said that the Trump accounts, specifically the app that they just launched today, it makes it a lot easier.
00:51:07.680And there's these financial literacy modules on the app that you can go through, and it will help explain investing to you, help explain where your money is going, you know, the S&P, like kind of just all of those things.
00:51:20.040So if you don't know a lot about finance, it's okay.
00:51:22.780This app and the Trump accounts can really help you.
00:51:25.180Believe it or not, so Tanya Tay back home, that's something the minute she heard about this, that this was going to be opened up.
00:51:31.080Now, because our kids aren't, they're too old to be eligible for the $1,000 capitalization.
00:51:37.380That's only if you have kids born right now.
00:51:39.500But anyone under 18 is eligible for the program.
00:51:43.660So we've got eight and five, Jack, Jack, and AJ.
00:51:46.100She went, found out that they're both eligible.
00:52:09.020Ultimately, do you think that he got the job done in terms of selling that deal to the American people?
00:52:15.440Well, honestly, Jack, not necessarily, but it's because a lot of the press in there didn't want to actually ask questions about these Trump accounts.
00:52:21.520And it kind of is disappointing because this is such a huge thing.
00:52:24.4202025 to 2028. If you have a kid, they get $1,000 in that account and you can continue to invest
00:52:29.880for them. So I really wish that the journalists in there would have focused more on that and
00:52:34.040how this is going to help financial literacy just in America in general. But I think the
00:52:40.140secretary is doing his best to try to push these things out. And we were at the Trump RX auditorium
00:52:45.140summit thing that they had just here in DC. And he talked a lot about that. So I think they'll
00:52:49.740continue to push this forward. But I do hope that going forward, journalists will ask more about
00:52:53.700finances in america and not necessarily these gotcha questions all right and guys i don't know
00:52:57.860if you can see it in the shot but man there's that ufc is right there this thing is massive
00:53:01.700it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie i think it's pretty cool i don't know but are you
00:53:06.820trying to go i'm trying to go i might be trying to go we'll see we'll see both thanks so much
00:53:11.460for helping us out today ladies and gentlemen as always you have my permission to lay short
