00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel. Great to have you here today. It is Thursday,
00:00:08.520 October the 15th. I'm recording this at 6.40 in the morning. You're probably watching it
00:00:13.620 a little bit later on this morning, but I wanted to address this issue. I was out last
00:00:18.180 night. My phone was blowing up, and matter of fact, in the afternoon, I responded to
00:00:22.560 what I'm about to talk about. I got a text message, as many of you probably did, from
00:00:26.960 the Alberta Prosperity Project. And I sent back a reply to what they sent me. I immediately thought
00:00:32.900 of my friends, Kathy Flett, Angela Tabak, Alberta Women for Independence, who have been talking a
00:00:37.980 lot about this issue. As a matter of fact, I was in Cardston not long ago with Angela,
00:00:41.440 and this was a topic of discussion. I bring Angela into this discussion this morning regarding
00:00:47.140 the text message I received about the first nine questions on the referendum. Angela,
00:00:52.200 Thanks so much for joining me early this morning.
00:00:54.460 I appreciate it.
00:00:55.680 Good morning.
00:00:56.460 Thanks for having me.
00:00:57.600 So we got a text message from Mitch Sylvester from the Alberta Prosperity Project saying,
00:01:03.260 if the nine pass, meaning the first nine questions, Edmonton and Ottawa will point to them as proof Albertans want to fix Canada and stay, don't hand them that.
00:01:11.620 Basically saying, don't even vote on the first nine questions.
00:01:15.700 I disagree with this.
00:01:16.920 And I want to point out, I'm not trying to tell people how to vote here.
00:01:19.720 I voted. I voted yes to those first nine questions. I'm not telling anybody how to vote.
00:01:24.540 That's your choice. Right. But I know you are vehemently opposed to what Mitch Sylvester and
00:01:30.120 the Alberta Prosperity Project are talking about here. Yeah, absolutely. And as a third-party
00:01:35.260 advertiser, I actually can tell people how to vote. Good point. And that's what I sent back
00:01:40.480 to them. I said, you realize you can't do this. You're not a third-party advertiser. I think the
00:01:44.500 fines $100,000. So I'm sure Elections Alberta is watching. Yeah, yeah. I mean, we've tried to be
00:01:50.500 real tight when it comes to the rules with Elections Alberta. The fact of the matter is,
00:01:55.100 John, you know, I did have some people kind of send me that text and say, what do you think?
00:01:58.620 What should I do? The fact of the matter is, our Premier Danielle Smith, she is going to take a
00:02:04.260 mandate. She's going to take a mandate from this referendum. And we have a choice to either have 0.98
00:02:11.080 our voice as a part of it or as these guys are advocating we step away from it and we don't
00:02:17.640 participate in that but she will take a mandate either way and i personally would rather have my
00:02:22.760 voice heard as a part of that mandate and that's why we have been pushing from day one that we take
00:02:30.360 these nine questions seriously it's an opportunity to send a message to the provincial and the federal
00:02:36.440 governments about the changes that we as Albertans need. Now, what we need to point out here, I always
00:02:41.540 forget if it's four or five questions out of the nine that are constitutional questions. Four.
00:02:46.780 It's four. Okay. I always forget those four questions, ladies and gentlemen, nothing's going
00:02:51.480 to happen. Right. Nothing ever. Remember what happened? 62% of the people wanted reform and
00:02:56.700 equalization. 2021, nothing happened. It's never going to happen. The other five questions, many
00:03:02.440 them about immigration? Should people have to have identification to vote? Should people be able to
00:03:07.020 get social services and whatnot if they've just moved here? I mean, I personally think yes is the
00:03:13.540 correct question to those. I have a 90-year-old mother-in-law who lives month to month on a
00:03:18.060 pension. She doesn't get much money, paid taxes here for most of her life, for all of her life 1.00
00:03:22.740 almost. And she can't get any more out of the government. And we're giving people social
00:03:28.340 services and Canadian taxpayer money who just moved here. I think it's wise for us to say yes 1.00
00:03:33.880 on these questions because the government is actually listening. We actually have an opportunity
00:03:38.340 to tell them what we want here. Absolutely. Absolutely. It's wise. How often do we get this
00:03:45.260 opportunity? When was the last time that we were asked much of anything? Yes. And these votes will
00:03:52.620 be counted. We will know the result. And I want to take part in that. I want my voice to be heard
00:04:01.620 and to be part of that result. And so I think those that are saying, you know what, by participating,
00:04:08.880 you're giving Danielle Smith a mandate. She's taking it anyways. So you might as well have
00:04:14.020 your voice heard in it and what you really do believe and think. This is strategic. This is
00:04:19.740 using your voice and your vote as some kind of a political stratagem, which I've always been
00:04:24.980 against. We need to vote from our heart and what we truly believe in. It needs to be a part of our
00:04:30.620 integrity. You said you woke up early this morning. I do every morning, but about four o'clock there
00:04:35.040 was this something you were thinking this morning about how was it when you do things out of hate
00:04:41.140 or out of malice or something like that? Yeah, you know, absolutely, John. I've come to learn
00:04:45.320 through life that when our intent or when our actions are fueled by negativity, hate, disdain,
00:04:54.680 anger, it never works out right. I encourage all Albertans to take a good look at why you are
00:05:03.440 involved in the Alberta independence movement and what has moved you. What are the feelings
00:05:09.500 that have moved you to action for me it is love of country love of alberta love of my fellow albertans
00:05:17.900 love of my children my grandchildren their future if we are doing anything that is motivated by
00:05:25.660 negativity which is what i have seen from this it is almost an obsession with danielle smith
00:05:32.220 and to me it's really i actually i find it very sad that this is kind of what it's come down to
00:05:37.900 I have so much respect for Mitch and the good people who volunteered with the APP, who moved
00:05:47.180 things forward during the petition period. I have all the respect in the world for that work that
00:05:53.000 was done. I'm really sad to kind of see that this is where we've come. You know, I have to say,
00:05:59.720 and I'm going to admit this, I mean, there's a certain amount of disdain I have for people who
00:06:04.400 are involved in this. I mean, I've been focusing on the politicians. I did a video yesterday.
00:06:08.880 They're all in bed together. All of these socialists, liberals, conservatives, conservatives
00:06:12.600 name only, socialists, closet communists. I have nothing but disdain for these people. I'm telling
00:06:18.100 people, you know, here's your opportunity to, to get some payback about these people who are
00:06:22.980 dictating how you should live your life. You know, you've got an opportunity here. And I've been
00:06:26.620 saying that. I honestly have been saying that. And I guess maybe I'm in that category you were
00:06:32.200 thinking about this morning, but I also thought this when I heard this yesterday, I see those
00:06:37.140 signs, no to the nine. I don't want these people to win. I don't like what these people stand for.
00:06:41.800 They also want to say no to option two. They want to say yes to option one. I don't want to give
00:06:47.540 these people a win. And if you do what they're saying here, you're giving these people a win
00:06:52.780 and I don't want them to get anything out of this. I totally agree with you, John. You know what?
00:06:58.320 while we can say my actions will be motivated out of goodness and out of positivity we can also
00:07:04.080 recognize negativity we can recognize when things are just straight up wrong straight up evil
00:07:09.440 and there's nothing wrong with that but it is what is the motivation behind our actions ultimately
00:07:15.600 and yeah that's what i'm i'm really concerned about this text that went out um to me people
00:07:21.280 are confused angela oh yeah i had people sending me messages what do i do like i'm not trying to
00:07:25.760 to tell you what to do i know what i did it took me 30 seconds boom boom boom boom boom i checked
00:07:31.140 off those first nine questions yes to the nine vote option two and i was out of there but people
00:07:37.260 are what am i supposed to do do i have to vote for all of them no you don't you know there's nine
00:07:42.040 boxes you can just you could spoil the first nine if you want and drop the last one and if that's
00:07:46.400 the most important thing to you you have that right and fill your boots what you want to do but
00:07:51.140 I think this is, this is the wrong way to direct people. And again, it's a fixation on Daniel
00:07:57.080 Smith. It really is. And that's what I saw in this as well. I totally agree, John. I totally
00:08:01.400 agree. And like you said, it's confusing. Many people sent me texts yesterday saying, what am
00:08:05.360 I going to do with this? What do you think? It's like, you know what? Just let your voice be heard.
00:08:10.300 Just let your voice be heard. Well, it's interesting times.
00:08:14.020 It is. Didn't have this one on my bingo card. I didn't either. And a lot of people,
00:08:19.020 again the people that got in touch with me were thinking what the hell is going on here so that's
00:08:23.580 why i'm talking to you this morning i woke up thinking about this as well i think about
00:08:27.280 independence as soon as i wake up in the morning as i know you do as well and i and i think we've
00:08:32.940 got a good chance uh to win this thing on monday what are your thoughts just before we hang things
00:08:37.080 up here i do too you know what i mean we've just got to go for it 100 do not let up on that gas
00:08:45.540 pedal yet we're not there yet and we still have an opportunity to talk to a lot of our friends
00:08:50.540 and neighbors who may be undecided and um i am very you know what whichever way this goes
00:08:57.680 oh my goodness we have seen the strength of albertans coming through which is just an amazing
00:09:04.040 beautiful thing but i really do believe that we have a good opportunity here um we might just make
00:09:09.660 it yeah yeah i think we can win you know i was talking to bruce party at jason levine's event
00:09:13.960 last night. I was talking to Matthew Raleigh, Dennis Kalma as well. And I stopped to talk to
00:09:17.900 Bruce. He was at my place for Thanksgiving this past weekend. We've kind of become friends. And
00:09:22.060 I said, you know, it's, you're out here from Ontario all the time. You must find it fascinating.
00:09:25.940 You're meeting all these people. He says, I met so many great people. And I said, I've made so
00:09:29.660 many good friends. And, you know, when Kathy was out the other night, she was at the event with
00:09:33.460 Chris Scott with Let's Talk Alberta. She was one of the speakers. She brought up friendship and
00:09:37.680 the friends that we've made through this. So I really, I really value that. And as far as I'm
00:09:42.820 concerned on Tuesday morning, regardless of how this goes, I'm still focusing on this. I'm going
00:09:47.980 to still focus on Alberta independence. I want us to win that. And I want to make sure they don't
00:09:51.560 stop us from trying to win it, because I think that'll be the next step if we don't win on
00:09:55.840 Monday. Thanks so much, Angela. Good to see you again. Thank you, John. Are you going to be at
00:10:00.520 the legislature on Saturday? Absolutely. I would have missed that for the world. I will see you
00:10:06.500 there. Thank you so much. Angela Tabak, Alberta Women for Independence. If you like this video,
00:10:12.180 give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel, ring the bell for notifications. I'll see you
00:10:16.060 in the next one. It's morning again in the West and Alberta is waking from a long, dark night.
00:10:23.820 Today, Albertans go to work knowing their democratic vote for independence allows them
00:10:28.020 to take home more of what they earn. Young people and married couples feel comfortable
00:10:33.260 and secure in knowing they now can afford a home, something they thought unthinkable
00:10:38.580 just a short while ago.
00:10:41.440 Today, senior citizens feel more secure,
00:10:44.180 with an independent Alberta providing more for them than ever before.
00:10:49.080 And with Alberta keeping more of its wealth,
00:10:51.520 and unfettered by the unfair government in Ottawa,
00:10:54.820 Albertans are building hospitals, schools, and pipelines,
00:10:58.240 and look forward with optimism for the future.
00:11:01.620 It's morning again in the West,
00:11:03.880 a single mark on a ballot for independence,
00:11:06.140 and Albertans are more confident, prosperous, and free.
