00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel, Saturday, October the 31st, 5.45 a.m. I hope
00:00:08.320 you're having a great start to your Saturday and your weekend as well, and happy Halloween.
00:00:12.920 I appreciate you being here. I woke up three and a half hours ago or so, maybe a little
00:00:18.020 longer. I wasn't sure what I wanted to talk about today, so I opened up my phone. I came
00:00:24.460 across a tweet from a Canadian, which I responded to, which I'm going to show you in just a
00:00:29.000 moment. And it got me thinking about how we got to the position we're in right now. How did we get
00:00:35.560 here at this moment? At a point where I think Canadians are apathetic, they're ignorant, 1.00
00:00:43.200 they're accepting mediocrity, they're accepting what they're being given by Mark Carney or what 0.98
00:00:48.660 Mark Carney is doing to them. I always say he's doing things to you. He's not doing things for you.
00:00:54.000 And I think about the lowering of expectations of Canadians, because a lot of that is happening
00:00:58.660 right now. It's rather sad. When did this begin? And when it comes to lowering of expectations,
00:01:07.000 you know, I came across a video. It was something I saw more than a year ago. I downloaded it in
00:01:14.340 early October of 2025. And it's peer poly of dropping a truth bomb on some young people.
00:01:20.980 And it is symbolic of the lowering of expectations a year ago. And things are even worse now. I'm
00:01:26.780 going to show you that clip in just a moment. If you've seen it, you're going to go, oh my God,
00:01:30.840 I forgot about that. But if you haven't seen it, your jaw will drop to the floor. It's amazing.
00:01:35.960 So stay tuned for that in just a moment. When did this current iteration of mediocrity in Canada
00:01:43.640 begin? Can you think of the moment? I can get you to within an hour of when it happened. Now,
00:01:49.360 some of you may be saying it happened when Justin Trudeau was elected in 2015. I would say no.
00:01:55.920 some of it started then, but the worst part started much more recent than that. And I can
00:02:02.740 show you within an hour of when it happened. Here it is right here. Many of you will recognize this
00:02:11.440 photo. This is just before Christmas, I think late November of 2024, Justin Trudeau at Mar-a-Lago
00:02:19.360 with Donald Trump. And this all began with a joke when Donald Trump said 51st state, I think for
00:02:25.860 the very first time. And at this point, it's absurd to believe this, but many Canadians are
00:02:33.600 sleepwalking their way into disaster as Mark Carney is about to sign Canada up into some type
00:02:40.260 of agreement, which we know nothing about with the European Union as an associate member.
00:02:45.780 That's where this began. It's crazy. Now, here's the tweet from this morning that I saw that
00:02:53.740 inspired this video. The original tweet is here from Live Monitor. Let me bring myself up on
00:02:59.100 screen here. I have no idea WTF is wrong with Canadians and their insane obsession with American 1.00
00:03:05.460 politics. Worry about your own blank country. To which the aforementioned Canadian I talked about, 1.00
00:03:10.860 Dale Thompson says, oh, I don't know, maybe being threatened multiple times, being forced into
00:03:15.820 becoming the 51st state and being called nasty and blank and horrible by the worst POTUS and
00:03:22.240 possibly the worst human ever is a reason most of us are hoping for a blue wave in November,
00:03:27.240 call us weird. And I responded to Dale, Mr. Canadian, as you're burning your country to 0.70
00:03:33.180 the ground because of hurt feelings. Enjoy the decline. This all began with a joke.
00:03:39.360 And the joke's on Canadians. I mean, the lowering of expectations is astounding. 0.75
00:03:46.400 and what Mark Carney is doing. We're about to sign up as an associate member or something with
00:03:53.360 the European Union, and Canadians don't seem to care. I call it apathy. I call it ignorance. 0.53
00:04:00.540 This article right here, nearly three quarters of Canadians support PM in seeking closer ties
00:04:06.040 with Europe. I don't think they realize what's going on here. Listen, making better deals with
00:04:13.920 Europe is a good idea. I think that's good. We have a trade agreement called CETA. You may have
00:04:19.020 heard about it over the last couple of days. I said earlier in a video I did maybe a week or so
00:04:23.560 ago, I bought a watch from Germany, didn't have to pay tariffs on it, but we could expand CETA.
00:04:28.500 A number of countries in Europe didn't sign on. But what are we signing on to right now?
00:04:35.180 And Carney's using the same old tricks to scare Canadians into whatever the hell he's planning
00:04:41.120 with the European Union. Here's the release from the Prime Minister's office, and he's
00:04:47.360 using a new word over and over again. I don't think he even knows what the word means. I'm
00:04:51.140 going to give you the definition of it in just a moment. It's right here in blue. Of
00:04:56.180 course, he's using his favorite catchphrase, a more dangerous and divided world.
00:05:00.560 The world is more divided and dangerous.
00:05:04.120 As the world becomes more divided and dangerous.
00:05:06.300 Dangerous, divided.
00:05:08.640 Dangerous and divided world.
00:05:10.000 Dangerous and divided world.
00:05:11.000 A more dangerous and divided world must have been really effective when it came to focus groups.
00:05:17.400 He starts his news releases with it now.
00:05:20.440 But he goes on to say a more dangerous and divided world has fundamentally changed the requirements of sovereignty.
00:05:28.000 He even used this word yesterday in a news conference about the European Union.
00:05:32.360 Our teams have been working hard.
00:05:34.480 I just want to say a couple of words about what this means for Canadians.
00:05:38.380 it means affordability, more competition, more choice. And it means, at its base, sovereignty.
00:05:47.080 Sovereignty? Does he even know what sovereignty means? And here's the definition of sovereignty.
00:05:53.720 Sovereignty is supreme, independent authority and power to govern a territory, make laws and
00:05:59.420 manage internal and external affairs without foreign interference. He says sovereignty,
00:06:04.680 as he's about to sign Canada onto more bureaucracy and more government to control us.
00:06:12.120 And you'll notice when he talks about things like this, it's all performative. It's a performance,
00:06:17.960 ladies and gentlemen. He's got the big pregnant pause before he drops the bomb on you. Sovereignty,
00:06:24.960 kind of like new world order. For the new world order. And remember what I said just a moment
00:06:33.900 ago, this all began with a joke. You know, I think Canadians, I was just thinking about this,
00:06:39.560 I was thinking Canadians are now in the fifth stage of grief, acceptance. They have lowered
00:06:45.540 their expectations to a point now with Mark Carney, they are willing to accept anything.
00:06:51.800 The joke was 51st state. People are afraid of Canada becoming the 51st state. And now Carney
00:06:59.120 takes the keys to the kingdom, being Canada, and is handing the keys over to the European Union,
00:07:04.760 and he calls it sovereignty. Here's Andrew Lawton, Conservative MP, talking about this.
00:07:11.200 We will never assert our sovereignty by being a star on someone else's flag, whether that is that
00:07:17.880 of the United States or that of the European Union. To be Canada strong, which we often hear
00:07:23.600 as a preferred slogan by the Liberals, we have to be Canada free, and we have to be Canada independent.
00:07:29.120 And I would love to hear from the Liberals exactly what it is about the EU.
00:07:33.760 They're laughing.
00:07:34.440 So I guess Canadian independence is something they find amusing.
00:07:37.520 But I would love to hear.
00:07:39.600 So as we talk about what this associate membership in the EU looks like,
00:07:44.300 I would love to hear the Prime Minister and the Liberal government say
00:07:47.820 what it is they find so fascinating about the way that the EU governs its affairs.
00:07:53.740 We've been clear that Canada should never compromise our autonomy on regulations,
00:07:58.780 our autonomy on taxation, our autonomy on migration. And these are all things where
00:08:03.840 the European Union has been a colossal failure. It's so sad that Canadians have lowered their 0.88
00:08:11.920 expectations for this country so much, they're willing to allow Mark Carney and the Liberals
00:08:16.980 do anything they want to them. And that's what this European Union thing is. And this is all
00:08:22.560 based on a joke. Think about that. The joke's on Canada. Now, what I'm going to do right off the
00:08:32.840 end of this video, I'm going to wrap up here now. I'm going to show you off the end of this video,
00:08:36.580 Pierre Polyev. I like Pierre Polyev. I think he's made some big missteps, but I like Pierre
00:08:43.940 Polyev. He speaks a lot of sense. And I got this video about a year ago and I saw it again this
00:08:51.300 morning. And I said, this is so symbolic of what's wrong with Canada. This is the lowering
00:08:57.440 of expectations. And I think in this video, he even says the liberals have done things to these
00:09:03.200 young people and they're perplexed. And he explains it to them. Thank you very much for
00:09:09.520 watching. If you liked this video, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel, ring the
00:09:12.920 bell for notifications. I'll see you in the next one and happy Halloween.
00:09:17.700 Homeownership.
00:09:18.800 You often talk about homeownership as the Canadian dream.
00:09:23.140 But if, let's say, half a generation, that's not even a possibility for them.
00:09:29.240 Should we maybe change the narrative, the framing of success from owning a home to renting?
00:09:40.680 I mean, I guess, does the metric need to change?
00:09:44.020 is the Canadian dream anymore owning a home
00:09:47.120 or can it be renting?
00:09:51.140 Are you serious?
00:09:52.360 I don't know.
00:09:52.920 I mean, like...
00:09:54.260 No, no, I...
00:09:54.940 Do you realize...
00:09:56.720 This is the conversation because...
00:09:58.140 Just if I could, do you realize
00:09:59.980 what they've done to you?
00:10:03.620 Who's they?
00:10:05.140 The government.
00:10:06.620 What have they done to us?
00:10:08.460 Oh, boy.
00:10:09.120 They just tricked you into massively
00:10:12.680 lowering your expectations
00:10:15.000 for your quality of life.
00:10:17.520 I find it heartbreaking
00:10:18.620 that people are being tricked
00:10:21.560 into thinking that their lives
00:10:23.180 have to be permanently worse.
