Summary
Join me at a petition signing event on Saturday, March 7th at the dog walk park in Auburn Bay, BC. We need to gather as many signatures as humanly possible, not casually, not when it s convenient, but full throttle, because when the people show up in overwhelming numbers, when support is undeniable, when participation is massive, that matters.

April 7th through April 10th, that's when a group will be in court seeking an injunction
00:00:05.760
against the independence question that is before all burdens.
00:00:09.860
They're asking the court to stop this question from moving forward.
00:00:12.900
That is exactly why what we do right now matters so much.
00:00:16.640
Between now and April 7th, we need to gather as many signatures as humanly possible.
00:00:20.640
Not casually, not when it's convenient, full throttle.
00:00:24.760
Because when the people show up in overwhelming numbers, when support is undeniable, when
00:00:34.480
Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel, 308 AM, Saturday, March the 7th.
00:00:51.780
I hope you're having a great start to your Saturday morning.
00:00:57.080
And this is going to be a little bit different, this video.
00:01:00.960
I woke up a little after 1 o'clock, maybe a little earlier than normal.
00:01:11.960
I've got an event coming up a few hours from now, starting at 10 o'clock and running till
00:01:16.960
4 at the Auburn Bay Dog Walk Park, which I've been talking about, which is getting some promotion
00:01:24.840
It's going to be a little bit different for sure.
00:01:28.840
And I'm nervous because I don't know how many people are going to show up.
00:01:35.840
You know, I've got some coffee coming out this morning.
00:01:37.840
Some other things happening throughout the day.
00:01:39.840
She says, John, people are coming out to be part of the independence movement.
00:01:43.840
They're not coming out for a cup of coffee because I don't know how much coffee to get
00:01:51.520
But I think the timing is just right for what I'm doing today.
00:01:56.520
Well, I actually wanted to do this back in early February, but the timing wasn't right.
00:02:02.080
There's a word that I love in the English language.
00:02:04.360
And it is serendipity, which means a lucky happenstance.
00:02:07.700
It's just lucky that this event is happening today after what Mitch Sylvester said yesterday.
00:02:13.660
And you saw a short bit of what Mitch said off the top of this video.
00:02:17.520
You know, I met Mitch, you know, probably six, seven months ago in person.
00:02:23.580
But I've had the opportunity over the last, I don't know, 10 months, 11 months to talk to
00:02:38.360
You know, what's interesting about this is I think Mitch was a little bit of a reluctant leader.
00:02:43.660
I found it fascinating in one of the interviews, and I've done many of them with Mitch since
00:02:51.500
In one of the interviews, he said he really only came over to the independence movement
00:03:02.300
The Liberals won their fourth straight election.
00:03:05.760
And that's when Mitch really started working hard.
00:03:07.940
And boy, has he been working hard along with so many other people in the independence movement.
00:03:12.620
These are the big names in the independence movement.
00:03:25.140
And when I do an interview with somebody from the independence movement, you know, gets 20, 30, maybe 40,000 views, which is very helpful.
00:03:30.860
But I think about the people out there on the front lines during this petition campaign, which started on January the 2nd.
00:03:37.660
And we knew this court case was coming up in April.
00:03:44.820
But when Mitch put out that video last night, you saw a short bit of the clip.
00:03:48.060
And I'll put a card at the end so you can watch the whole thing.
00:03:53.440
And I think it lit a fire under a lot of people in the movement.
00:03:56.200
But there have been people out there constantly since they got their badges, probably about the first week of January.
00:04:07.060
I think it was by design that this petition campaign happened in the wintertime.
00:04:12.060
Much easier than going out in the middle of summer, like the so-called Forever Canadian campaign, which didn't have to collect ID on a bogus question.
00:04:21.480
These people having to collect identification when they sign people up.
00:04:25.520
I think of my friend Gary, who I speak to regularly.
00:04:29.460
I speak to him very early in the morning, quite often.
00:04:33.920
He's out at two or three different petition places every day.
00:04:36.480
And people are doing this everywhere around the province, on the front lines, getting a signature at a time.
00:04:48.520
There was an election in Quebec that was decided by one vote.
00:04:59.760
I met Jerry over a week ago at the Auburn Bay Dog Walk Park, where I'm having my event today.
00:05:09.120
He's been out there when it's minus 20 degrees Celsius.
00:05:13.720
And they're being nice enough to allow me to use this space with them today to work together for independence.
00:05:19.220
I think of his wife, Sharon, who's excited about this event today.
00:05:21.860
And I think about the 6,000 other people across the province collecting signatures.
00:05:27.560
If they're out every day collecting signatures, you can take the time to find one of these petition signing places and put your John Hancock down.
00:05:37.240
And if you don't know where one is, go to stayfreealberta.com.
00:05:40.440
Now, this court case, it's a challenge from indigenous people.
00:05:46.600
And I have a message for them in just a moment, okay?
00:05:50.240
But people ask why you want Alberta independence.
00:05:55.000
And I've said here before, 9 out of 10 people will say money.
00:05:57.660
I say it's because Ottawa gets in the way of what Alberta wants.
00:06:04.160
When it comes right down to it, we just want a better future for Alberta.
00:06:11.760
I think of my friend Wade, who I really just met back at the Big Four here in Calgary when that big event happened here.
00:06:26.220
I don't think he would be mad at me for saying he got a tear in his eye when he said,
00:06:35.200
And the future looks a little more bleak in Canada than it once did.
00:06:40.680
And when it comes to people my age, I'm in my 60s.
00:06:45.180
I have a grandchild who doesn't live in Alberta.
00:06:47.520
But I think about those people who are graying on the sides.
00:06:51.240
And they see the Canada that they loved at one time slip away.
00:06:57.840
Now, as far as the indigenous people, we see the things that are happening in British Columbia.
00:07:08.400
Sometimes we don't have nice things to say about the indigenous people in this country.
00:07:22.940
Because there are a lot of people who want natural resources.
00:07:31.100
I'm an indigenous person from wherever it might be in Alberta.
00:07:35.000
And I signed the petition for Alberta independence.
00:07:38.020
And what we need from you, and I don't know that anybody has said this to you yet, my indigenous friends.
00:07:43.140
If you're part of the Alberta independence, my friends and independents who are indigenous,
00:07:59.260
You can help us at this time when we really need you.
00:08:06.940
The last thing I really want to say is that the real war is about to start.
00:08:12.020
And I mean war from a standpoint of fighting against a foe.
00:08:21.280
The Alberta independence movement does not want that.
00:08:23.520
We've seen aggressive people show up at petition signings.
00:08:29.260
For ourselves, our family, our grandchildren, and for Alberta.
00:08:38.780
You know, if you've been to this channel before, I like quotes.
00:08:44.620
I don't read enough history, but I love quotes.
00:08:47.100
Because they're short little bursts of dialogue that can teach you so much.
00:08:51.180
And I'm going to read to you right now from Sun Tzu from The Art of War.
00:08:59.160
The Alberta independence movement knows itself, and we know the enemy.
00:09:03.620
The Alberta independence movement knows itself, and we know the enemy.
00:09:31.140
If you know the enemy and you know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.
00:09:39.980
We're thinking about one right now for this petition campaign.
00:09:43.660
The real battle will come when we get a question on a referendum.
00:09:57.480
We thank the leaders of the independence movement for all of their hard work.
00:10:01.420
I thank the people on the front lines who are doing the grunt work, who are out there every day.
00:10:25.880
If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up.
