Summary
An independent Alberta is the only way forward for this province, and it starts with getting dirty with the federal government and Prime Minister Mark Carney. Alberta's premier, Danielle Smith, needs to get dirty with Prime Minister David Eby to get things done, and that means getting rid of the tanker ban.

Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel, 453 AM, Sunday, June the 29th.
00:00:11.580
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend as well.
00:00:14.740
And I've got my big blue mug of coffee tasting oh so sweet this morning.
00:00:18.840
And before I get into today's topic on why independence is the only way Alberta can move
00:00:24.620
forward, I would like to take this moment, and I hope you'll do the same, to honor the
00:00:30.220
Aboriginal people who rule over Alberta and the people of Canada.
00:00:38.400
I'm going to begin by acknowledging that we're in the unceded traditional territory of the
00:00:44.220
Anishinaabe Algonquin and the people of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.
00:01:18.640
I'm going to get to an article I read on the CBC website earlier this morning.
00:01:23.780
Every day, I just know more and more that Alberta independence is the only way forward for this
00:01:30.040
province, and the only way we can get anything done is for Alberta to get dirty.
00:01:35.340
To get dirty with the guy who runs Ottawa, Mark Carney, and his Liberal Party, and the
00:01:40.200
guy who runs the province directly to Alberta's west, David Eby, because these people do not
00:01:45.260
want anything done in this country, and they're not on the same page of my province of Alberta
00:01:52.560
I mean, Eby's already said he doesn't want to get rid of the tanker ban. That was one of the
00:02:00.260
demands that Smith had with the federal government. Here's an article from earlier this week on the
00:02:06.260
CBC website, Alberta to launch panel tour to chart a path forward amid new pipeline talk. It doesn't
00:02:11.240
matter what Danielle Smith does, because she can't get dirty like an independent Alberta can. She's got
00:02:17.500
to be diplomatic with David Eby. She's got to be diplomatic with Ottawa. When's she going to get
00:02:22.440
dirty? She's going to have to get dirty if she wants anything, but she won't. On Tuesday, Bloomberg News
00:02:27.540
reported that Smith told the news agency in an interview she expected a private company would
00:02:31.700
bring forward a proposal to build a new oil pipeline to the British Columbia coast within weeks.
00:02:36.320
Smith has not named the company, and no firm has yet publicly committed to the idea. And it goes on
00:02:42.380
talking about this, Smith saying that we've got this new bill, Bill C-5, that's going to get things
00:02:47.000
done. It isn't worth the paper. It's written on. And it doesn't matter if she gets private funding to
00:02:52.780
build a pipeline. David Eby's just tiptoeing around that one. He was on with Vashti Capellas and had this
00:02:59.780
Well, I've said very clearly to Premier Smith that if she's able to arrange that, then we're happy to sit
00:03:06.140
down with Alberta and have that conversation with them about what that would look like. But let's
00:03:11.620
be honest with ourselves. We have a $36 billion pipeline that's publicly owned that the federal
00:03:16.220
government cannot sell. It's not even operating at capacity. There is not a world in which that
00:03:23.120
pipeline across the north happens without significant federal subsidy. If the Premier of
00:03:28.320
Alberta is able to pull that off, I say more power to her. Let's sit down and have that conversation.
00:03:32.780
Eby says he's willing to talk to Alberta if we find an investor for a pipeline through British
00:03:38.060
Columbia. But that's not what he wants. He immediately gets to the butts. But the current
00:03:42.360
pipeline we've got isn't up to capacity. It costs $36 billion of Canadian taxpayers' money. Anything new
00:03:48.540
we build will have to be paid for by the government. He doesn't understand, because he's a leftist,
00:03:53.580
that people like to invest in things and businesses like to invest in things that can make them some
00:03:58.320
money. And that's what Danielle Smith wants. She doesn't want the federal government to have to pay
00:04:03.500
for a pipeline. She would see that as a failure. She told Jasmine Lane this on her show yesterday.
00:04:08.940
I certainly wouldn't look at having to build another pipeline with government money as being a
00:04:14.800
success. It would be, I think, a failure of the exercise. The exercise we're going through right now
00:04:19.340
is how do we restore investor confidence so that the private sector will have confidence in
00:04:24.200
investing in Canada again. And that includes pipelines. That's what I'm aiming for.
00:04:28.200
Premier Smith, you can talk until you're blue in the face about getting investment for a pipeline
00:04:33.140
and getting a pipeline out to the coast. But until you can get dirty with Mark Carney,
00:04:37.980
the Liberal Party, the government of Canada, David Eby, the province of British Columbia,
00:04:42.840
nothing's going to happen. And only an independent Alberta can get dirty. And I'm going to tell you how
00:04:49.520
we're going to do that in just a moment. Now, the reason why I'm doing this video today is because
00:04:53.800
of this article I read earlier this morning from the CBC website, First Nations on BC's North Coast
00:04:59.340
say they would not support a new pipeline. See this face of this woman right here? This woman right
00:05:03.400
here is one of the reasons why nothing will get done in this country. This is a person who is holding
00:05:07.980
back prosperity for Alberta and for Canada. And it's a very small group of people that look a lot
00:05:14.140
like her. Let's read a little of this article. President of an organization representing First Nations
00:05:19.300
along the north coast of BC says it would not support any new pipeline projects in northern BC.
00:05:24.840
Alberta Premier, rather, Danielle Smith, told Bloomberg News Tuesday she expects a private
00:05:29.900
company will bring forward a proposal to build a new pipeline to BC's north coast within weeks.
00:05:35.840
There is no project or proponents that would be acceptable to us on the north coast, said
00:05:40.300
Marilyn Slett, elected chief councillor of the Helsiak Tribal Council about 479 kilometres north
00:05:47.440
of Vancouver and president of the Coastal First Nations Great Bear Initiative, an alliance of nine First
00:05:52.860
Nations on the north Pacific coast of BC to Haida Gwaii. Anything that proposes to send oil through the
00:05:58.760
coast is a non-starter, said Slett. And that's the woman right there. That is Mrs. Slett or Ms. Slett.
00:06:05.020
So, the question to you is, how do we play dirty, and you're probably wondering, how do we play dirty
00:06:12.040
with people like Ms. Slett, David Eby, and British Columbia? Well, it's quite simple. Over here, I
00:06:20.620
went on to Google and put, how much does the Port of Vancouver contribute to the economy of British
00:06:25.400
Columbia? Let's read a little bit about this through AI. Port of Vancouver is a major contributor
00:06:32.520
to British Columbia's economy, generating significant economic output and employment.
00:06:38.100
In 2024, the Port and its supply chain supported 132,000 jobs in Canada, with nearly 80% of those
00:06:45.280
jobs and economic activity remaining in British Columbia. The Port's economic impact includes
00:06:51.120
$32.7 billion in economic output and $16.3 billion in GDP for Canada, with a substantial portion of that
00:06:59.460
benefiting British Columbia. So, an independent Alberta goes to British Columbia and says,
00:07:09.680
hey, listen, we'd like a pipeline. And they say, no. And we say, okay, then you have no access to
00:07:15.200
Alberta anymore. We're shutting the border down, which means you have no access to Canada anymore.
00:07:20.220
Why would British Columbia, why would anybody ship anything to Vancouver? All of that economic
00:07:28.500
activity would be gone. Why not just ship it through Seattle? It's got to come through the
00:07:32.220
United States anyway. There's got to be a cost to shipping things across the border and then back
00:07:37.360
across the border. Ship everything into Seattle. 132,000 jobs in Canada created by the Port of Vancouver.
00:07:46.060
And most of that activity in British Columbia, the people who are holding this back, like Ms. Slett,
00:07:52.980
who I spoke about earlier, boy, the gravy train would probably come to an end pretty quick because
00:07:58.280
there wouldn't be a lot of money happening because all of that economic activity would be gone.
00:08:05.220
And think about all the people who go from Alberta over into British Columbia. We can stay here when we go
00:08:09.880
on vacation. Tourism would probably die. I think British Columbia would want to talk a little bit
00:08:16.660
if an independent Alberta came to them and said, you have no access to the rest of the country
00:08:21.640
anymore. And you know, David Eby told Vashti Capellas he wants to do business dealings with Ontario
00:08:27.400
when it comes to steel and aluminum. Sorry, it's not coming through Alberta. Ship it through the United
00:08:33.060
States for the additional cost. That's how you play dirty, folks. And that's the kind of thing
00:08:39.740
that has to happen. And it can only happen with an independent Alberta. It's the only way.
