Summary

We have a national unity problem in our country right now. My Premier, Danielle Smith, said a while back that we would have a National Unity issue, but it is already here. And the reason I m saying that is because I came across a video this morning from Yves-Francois Blanchet, the leader of the Bloc Quebecois, reiterating what the Parti quebecois leader, Francois Legault, said the other day.

00:00:00.120 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. It is 7 a.m. on Friday, February the 7th with the big blue mug of coffee.
00:00:07.380 I hope you're having a great day today. I'm going to try to do something a little bit different today.
00:00:12.300 I'm getting going a little bit later today, but we have a national unity problem in our country right now.
00:00:21.900 My Premier, Danielle Smith, said a while back, and I'm going to show you some video in a moment,
00:00:27.080 that we would have a national unity issue, but it is already here.
00:00:31.340 And the reason I'm saying that is because I came across a video this morning from Yves-Francois Blanchet,
00:00:39.280 the leader of the Bloc Québécois, reiterating what the leader of the Parti Québécois leader,
00:00:44.980 François Legault, just said the other day, both from Quebec.
00:00:49.020 And I'm going to play some video right now of my Premier, Danielle Smith, on Question Period on CTV.
00:00:55.300 Now, this is quite a while ago. This is a period when she was under the gun because she had said
00:01:01.500 that Alberta oil was not going to be used as a tool to get back at Donald Trump when it came to tariffs.
00:01:06.300 So here's Vashi Capellas talking to my Premier. We're going to go through this a little bit
00:01:10.660 and break this down, and I'm going to show you why we have a national unity issue,
00:01:15.240 and I don't think there's any way Alberta can stay within Confederation.
00:01:20.380 But why would we come to a fight with the thing that we have the most leverage with,
00:01:27.320 like one arm tied behind us? What is the point of taking that off the table?
00:01:32.260 And are you doing that just to advance your own political interest domestically?
00:01:35.520 Well, Albertans don't want to see another equalization program.
00:01:38.580 Let's be very clear about what an export tariff is.
00:01:40.880 It means putting a tax on Canadian goods so that all the dollars go to Ottawa,
00:01:45.220 so that Ottawa can use those dollars to redistribute to other provinces.
00:01:48.280 Okay, so before we move on here, let me just show you the equalization.
00:01:53.040 Now, this is actually a tweet from Danielle Smith herself,
00:01:56.580 and it says here,
00:01:58.340 Equalization holds Alberta back and encourages dysfunctional policies
00:02:02.020 that stifle growth in other provinces.
00:02:04.440 The equalization and federal transfer system are broken and must be entirely overhauled.
00:02:09.140 So Alberta's way at the left end of this graph,
00:02:13.920 and you can see $244.6 billion from Alberta,
00:02:17.040 and then at the far right end of this graph, you can see Quebec,
00:02:20.360 and they are the recipients of $327.7 billion,
00:02:25.680 and most of that is coming from Alberta.
00:02:28.280 So you think that Quebec would be on side with Alberta
00:02:32.020 when it comes to the reason why we have so much money,
00:02:34.380 and it's because of our oil and gas industry,
00:02:36.180 but that is not the case.
00:02:37.960 So let's continue moving on and hear what Premier Smith has to say.
00:02:41.300 We've seen that newsreel before.
00:02:42.600 We saw it with the way equalization works,
00:02:46.260 but more in our history,
00:02:48.920 the way Pierre Trudeau dealt with our province,
00:02:51.460 and it created national unity problems.
00:02:53.240 This is not...
00:02:54.120 Okay, so the national unity problem she's talking about here
00:02:57.060 is the National Energy Program under Pierre Trudeau.
00:03:01.060 I live in Alberta.
00:03:02.080 I didn't live here during the National Energy Program.
00:03:04.360 I was in Ontario.
00:03:05.620 I always remember hearing about this,
00:03:07.220 but you will hear about this to this day.
00:03:10.000 Talking 30 to 40 years later,
00:03:12.680 people still talk about how Alberta was,
00:03:15.700 pardon the expression,
00:03:17.320 raped by the rest of the country,
00:03:19.380 and we saw job losses,
00:03:21.100 we saw businesses shut down.
00:03:23.260 It was an absolute mess during the National Energy Program,
00:03:26.120 and that's what Danielle Smith is warning about.
00:03:28.180 It was a national unity problem then,
00:03:30.200 and we have a national unity problem right now,
00:03:33.400 and I'll talk more about that in a second.
00:03:34.880 ...a time that while we're having a fight
00:03:36.620 with our biggest trading partner,
00:03:38.420 that we also have a fight with each other.
00:03:39.900 I would say let's focus on the things
00:03:41.300 that we can agree on together.
00:03:42.620 Let's take a Team Canada approach.
00:03:44.380 Let's maybe get the Energy East pipeline back on the rails
00:03:47.300 so that our Eastern Canadian friends
00:03:49.420 don't have to rely on the U.S. for this vital fuel.
00:03:53.140 Let's talk about more ways to get pipelines to the West Coast
00:03:56.460 so that we can diversify...
00:03:57.780 Okay, so she talks about the Energy East pipeline.
00:04:00.520 Folks, it is not going to happen,
00:04:02.760 and the Bloc Québécois and Parti Québécois
00:04:04.900 have made themselves quite clear
00:04:06.560 that they do not want the pipeline out there.
00:04:09.880 Played this video the other day.
00:04:11.180 Francois Legault, leader of the Parti Québécois.
00:04:15.260 If during your discussions today,
00:04:17.220 the issues of pipelines came up
00:04:19.120 and whether Quebec would now support
00:04:21.260 either an Energy East
00:04:22.720 or some other kind of pipeline
00:04:23.960 that would take Alberta oil
00:04:25.100 out to markets other than the U.S.
00:04:28.560 Yeah.
00:04:31.400 Of course, right now,
00:04:34.080 there's no social acceptability
00:04:37.480 for this kind of project right now.
00:04:41.540 So no social acceptability
00:04:43.540 for this type of project right now in Quebec.
00:04:45.720 So what does that mean?
00:04:46.900 Well, I think he's trying to tell you
00:04:49.320 that the people of Quebec
00:04:50.160 don't want a pipeline going through their province,
00:04:52.340 but there's a reason why he says social acceptability.
00:04:54.660 These people are part of the climate cult
00:04:56.640 and they don't want our oil out there.
00:04:58.820 They want to benefit from our oil,
00:05:00.660 but they do not want our oil
00:05:01.780 going through their province.
00:05:03.640 And this sickens me.
00:05:04.920 You know, back in 1995,
00:05:07.880 I was living in Cornwall, Ontario.
00:05:09.780 For people who don't know where Cornwall is,
00:05:11.560 Cornwall is an hour from Ottawa just to the south.
00:05:13.940 Okay, so Cornwall south,
00:05:15.140 right on the St. Lawrence River.
00:05:16.560 And we're just about an hour west of Montreal.
00:05:19.440 And I remember getting on a bus in 1995.
00:05:21.720 I believe it was October, late October,
00:05:24.300 with a big giant cell phone.
00:05:27.100 It was in a bag like this.
00:05:28.200 Remember those bag cell phones with the...
00:05:29.720 I carried one of those along with me
00:05:31.300 because we did have cell phone back there in 95.
00:05:34.000 And I went to Montreal
00:05:35.320 and I was under that big flag in downtown Montreal
00:05:38.800 just prior to the referendum in 1995
00:05:41.280 because I wanted Quebec to stay in the country.
00:05:44.500 I do not want Quebec to stay in our country anymore.
00:05:47.360 I am sick of this province.
00:05:49.340 And now that I live in Alberta,
00:05:50.600 it's even worse.
00:05:51.880 These people want our money,
00:05:53.760 but they do not want our oil.
00:05:55.760 Without our oil,
00:05:56.820 this country has no social programs.
00:05:58.920 The health care that Quebec enjoys
00:06:00.600 and their daycare program they're so proud of
00:06:03.120 is paid for by Alberta.
00:06:04.680 Let's continue along with Mr. Legault.
00:06:06.700 Quebec.
00:06:06.920 But, of course, situation,
00:06:13.700 the economy and what Mr. Trump is doing
00:06:18.460 may change the situation in the future.
00:06:22.340 So if there's a social acceptability,
00:06:25.740 we will be open to these kind of projects.
00:06:29.900 But right now, there's no social acceptability.
00:06:34.160 So, no.
00:06:35.260 So they basically used our oil
00:06:40.000 and we're wanting to use our oil here in Alberta
00:06:43.000 to get back at Donald Trump when it came to tariffs.
00:06:45.980 But now that this issue is somewhat resolved,
00:06:50.820 they don't want our oil at all.
00:06:52.160 So we're going to go along to bloc leader
00:06:53.860 Yves-Francois Blanchet.
00:06:55.860 This is the video I saw earlier today
00:06:57.520 that got me interested in doing this video
00:06:59.300 and listen to what he says.
00:07:01.080 And we also hear people,
00:07:03.160 including Mr. Carney,
00:07:04.400 say,
00:07:04.880 okay, now it's time.
00:07:07.260 We will come in Quebec
00:07:08.860 with pipelines that will,
00:07:11.820 at the end,
00:07:12.840 we will get it.
00:07:13.920 We will go through Quebec with pipelines
00:07:16.040 and we will go in the cemetery
00:07:18.600 and dig out the project of natural gas
00:07:22.340 in Saguenay
00:07:23.140 using a crisis that people fear
00:07:29.060 to defend and promote interests
00:07:32.320 which are against Quebec.
00:07:35.200 And it has to be noticed as it is.
00:07:38.420 Quebec is in it for themselves.
00:07:41.000 The Bloc Quebecois and Parti Quebecois
00:07:43.240 may not be talking a lot about separation,
00:07:45.240 but that is their plan in the long run.
00:07:46.820 And if they could get back to 95
00:07:48.460 and do it over again,
00:07:49.580 I remember sitting there
00:07:50.680 watching the numbers on TV
00:07:52.720 and the,
00:07:54.080 I mean,
00:07:55.560 the cohesiveness of the country,
00:07:57.100 including Quebec was,
00:07:58.300 I mean,
00:07:58.600 it was 0.1% here or there.
00:08:00.780 It was so close back then.
00:08:02.100 But these people do not want our oil
00:08:04.460 going through their province.
00:08:05.820 They're saying it basically right there.
00:08:08.180 There is no Team Canada, folks.
00:08:09.880 The Team Canada wanted Alberta aboard
00:08:11.960 so we could use our biggest export product
00:08:14.300 and the thing that makes us a prosperous country
00:08:17.480 as a way to get back at Donald Trump.
00:08:20.260 The Bloc Quebecois,
00:08:21.360 the Parti Quebecois
00:08:22.320 are all part of the climate goal.
00:08:23.700 He talks about Mr. Carney
00:08:24.900 talking about pipelines.
00:08:26.660 The Liberals are playing this great,
00:08:28.720 talking about getting rid of the carbon tax,
00:08:30.560 but Mark Carney is an absolute fraud.
00:08:33.020 The man was in favor of the carbon tax.
00:08:35.760 We played video of him here before
00:08:37.300 saying that he didn't think it was high enough.
00:08:39.540 Now he wants to get rid of the carbon tax
00:08:41.420 so you don't see it
00:08:42.140 when you get your bill for your heating.
00:08:44.220 You don't see it when you go to the gas pump
00:08:46.260 when you fill up your car.
00:08:47.580 He just wants to put all the carbon tax on industry
00:08:49.840 and that's just going to get passed down to you.
00:08:52.480 And when he does that,
00:08:53.700 he's going to drive investment out of this country.
00:08:56.060 Now let's look at the numbers right now
00:08:57.800 when it comes to,
00:08:58.540 well, if we had an election today.
00:09:01.720 So let's just bring up this chart.
00:09:03.260 And if you look at the numbers right here,
00:09:05.560 the Conservatives are down five at 41%.
00:09:08.000 You might remember they were close to 50 at one point.
00:09:11.160 The Liberals are up 8% right now in the polls.
00:09:14.500 If an election were held today,
00:09:17.420 the Conservatives would win a majority,
00:09:20.220 but things are not looking good right now
00:09:22.720 for Pierre Polly.
00:09:23.580 They are ignoring him right now.
00:09:25.700 He is not even,
00:09:27.100 you aren't even hearing about him.
00:09:28.740 They ran, I think,
00:09:29.820 a 45-minute press conference with Carney
00:09:32.440 in its entirety on CBC the other day.
00:09:35.260 While Polly was out talking about
00:09:37.320 his plan when it came to fentanyl,
00:09:40.020 which was a good plan,
00:09:41.120 they basically ignored what he said completely.
00:09:44.040 You have to realize,
00:09:44.840 the CBC is likely to be defunded
00:09:46.900 if the Conservatives get in.
00:09:48.340 So they are all on board
00:09:49.960 when it comes to the Liberals
00:09:51.020 and they are going to pump them up
00:09:52.840 as much as possible.
00:09:54.300 If the numbers change much more
00:09:55.980 and the Conservatives slip into
00:09:57.580 a minority territory,
00:09:59.340 the Liberals,
00:10:00.800 the NDP,
00:10:01.700 and the Bloc Québécois
00:10:02.840 are all part of the climate cult.
00:10:05.280 They love our oil
00:10:06.460 because it pays for all their social programs,
00:10:08.660 but they hate it
00:10:09.420 because they think
00:10:10.140 it's going to destroy the world
00:10:11.440 and they want to shut it down.
00:10:13.080 If the Conservatives slip
00:10:14.540 into minority territory,
00:10:16.020 even if they win a majority of the vote,
00:10:17.980 they get a majority of the seats,
00:10:20.160 not a majority meaning
00:10:21.060 a majority government,
00:10:22.300 but more than the other
00:10:23.320 three parties out there.
00:10:25.600 The Liberals,
00:10:26.560 the NDP,
00:10:27.140 and Bloc Québécois
00:10:27.820 will not allow the Conservatives
00:10:29.220 to be in charge
00:10:30.020 and they will take over
00:10:31.280 and form a coalition government
00:10:32.960 and we will be stuck
00:10:34.120 with these people
00:10:34.800 and Alberta,
00:10:36.180 once again,
00:10:37.380 will be looking out to the East
00:10:39.020 saying,
00:10:39.520 what the hell is going on?
00:10:40.840 We need to start talking
00:10:42.280 about getting out of this country.
00:10:44.340 We have a national unity problem
00:10:46.700 in this country right now.
00:10:49.700 These other parties
00:10:51.120 have driven so much investment
00:10:52.800 out of our country
00:10:54.100 and we've shown the numbers here before.
00:10:56.780 Let me just bring this up on the screen.
00:10:59.020 An estimated $670 billion
00:11:01.240 of investment lost
00:11:02.900 in ditched resource projects
00:11:04.420 since Trudeau became Prime Minister.
00:11:07.440 Alberta has got to start talking
00:11:09.620 about getting out of this madhouse.
00:11:12.600 That's what this video is about today.
00:11:14.420 We have a national unity problem right now.
00:11:16.500 Danielle Smith was right,
00:11:18.240 maybe not for the same reason,
00:11:19.480 but I'm wondering
00:11:20.080 if she's seeing what I'm seeing.
00:11:22.520 I think the other thing
00:11:24.040 that could push us closer
00:11:25.040 to a national unity issue here
00:11:27.960 is the fact that I think
00:11:29.020 the Liberals are going to push
00:11:30.420 this election out until 2026
00:11:33.040 and they're going to do that
00:11:34.760 under the guise
00:11:35.640 of some type of emergency.
00:11:37.680 I mentioned that in a video
00:11:38.620 just the other day.
00:11:39.480 Anyhow,
00:11:39.960 I appreciate you watching.
00:11:41.380 What do you think?
00:11:43.020 Do we have a national unity problem?
00:11:45.700 Do you want Alberta
00:11:46.700 to stay in the country?
00:11:47.720 Do you think we should leave?
00:11:49.160 I'm not a proud Canadian.
00:11:51.120 I used to be.
00:11:52.320 I don't much like this country anymore.
00:11:54.360 I've discussed it with my wife before
00:11:56.040 about leaving the country.
00:11:57.280 We aren't really in that position right now,
00:11:59.760 but I'd like to leave.
00:12:01.120 I don't know where I can run to
00:12:02.440 because it's almost impossible
00:12:04.360 considering dollar exchange
00:12:06.520 and how difficult it is right now
00:12:08.740 to make ends meet,
00:12:11.060 to do something like that.
00:12:12.760 But I would certainly like
00:12:13.740 to get out of the country
00:12:14.580 and I think Alberta
00:12:15.480 needs to start planning for it
00:12:17.080 because the national unity issue
00:12:19.520 isn't going to get smaller.
00:12:20.720 It is going to get bigger.
00:12:21.780 Thanks very much for watching.
00:12:22.860 I do appreciate it.
00:12:23.800 If you liked the video,
00:12:25.000 please give me a thumbs up.
00:12:26.060 Subscribe to the channel as well
00:12:27.400 if you like it.
00:12:28.160 Share it.
00:12:29.100 And I'll see you in the next one.
00:12:30.360 Thank you.
