00:00:00.160 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel. Enjoying a cup of coffee, quarter to six on Saturday, November the 30th.
00:00:06.540 And I have to say, I'm quite pleased and proud of people here in this country, because they're not taking the bait.
00:00:14.040 They're not buying what Justin Trudeau is selling, and it's fascinating.
00:00:18.420 You know, I'm a conservative. I have been since the first day I voted when I was 18, and I turned 60 this coming February.
00:00:26.140 People ask me what I want as a conservative, and I say, I want to be left alone.
00:00:30.980 If there's one thing I want, I want to be left alone.
00:00:34.000 But of course, I believe in limited government, low taxation, personal responsibility.
00:00:37.940 This is what conservatives believe, and I think a lot of them do.
00:00:41.320 But I think a lot of liberals, or people who have voted liberal in the past, have really seen through this trick, as Polyev calls it, of this tax holiday that Trudeau wants in place.
00:00:52.380 It got voted in place the other night. You know, limited items will be GST-free for a couple of months, between the 15th of December and February 15th.
00:01:03.300 And checks are supposed to be mailed out for $250.
00:01:07.020 But Justin Trudeau is desperate right now, and when you get somebody desperate, it's fascinating to see what they're going to do.
00:01:12.300 I'm really quite scared what might happen between now and election time, which is supposed to come in October.
00:01:18.880 I was listening to the radio yesterday, and they were talking to somebody from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
00:01:24.940 And more than 60% of businesses who you would expect might want a tax holiday, because it might spur on additional sales in their store, they don't want this either.
00:01:35.580 Because of the hoops they have to jump through, just to change their point of sale system, to allow this GST holiday on some items.
00:01:46.960 And the guy from the CFIB said, this would cost them at least $1,000 each, just to put this in place.
00:01:53.340 And I heard an estimate that if they send out checks worth $250 to 18 million Canadians across the country, it could cost between $200 and $300 million.
00:02:04.500 If they can get it there in the mail, because Canada Post is still on strike, you probably haven't heard much about that either.
00:02:11.060 So, this is fascinating. I'm very proud of what's going on in this country.
00:02:15.420 But I'm rather scared, because who knows what Justin Trudeau is willing to do next, before the next election comes.
00:02:21.940 We're a long way out from election right now.
00:02:24.600 This tax holiday will be forgotten real quick, but he's got to have something else up his sleeve to try to bribe Canadians and win their votes.
00:02:31.700 Thanks for watching.
