00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the Independence Calendar for Sunday, April the 5th. I hope
00:00:08.000 you're having a great weekend. Happy Easter to you. And this is an intro to an intro.
00:00:14.580 Let me explain. I'm going to get to the regular Independence Calendar stuff in just a moment,
00:00:19.900 but yesterday was Canvasser Appreciation Day. I went to, I think, about 10 different places
00:00:25.100 myself over five and a half hours. Had a great day yesterday. I see other people did too. Corey
00:00:30.720 Morgan out there. Actually, this was the very first place I visited yesterday. I dropped off
00:00:35.400 some chocolate bunnies. Corey dropping off some of his honey. He actually sent me a text message
00:00:41.480 saying he went by there. This is west of the city out near Prittis. So thanks to Corey for doing
00:00:46.940 that. And also Jeff Rath was out there. Here's a picture of Jeff out running around thanking all
00:00:51.720 of our hardworking canvassers. And I've received email this morning from a lot of people who have
00:00:56.220 been signing people up on the petition saying they received a lot of handshakes yesterday. So thanks
00:01:01.000 for participating in that day. So we're going to have the regular calendar coming up,
00:01:05.760 your submissions and a lot of them this week, pictures from everywhere down in the United
00:01:10.200 States as well, but people out getting those signatures. We're going to have an interview
00:01:15.460 with Jeff Rath, a portion of one I did earlier this week. And we've got some other things coming
00:01:20.860 up as well. So let's start off with what happened yesterday when I left my house for Canvasser
00:01:27.400 Appreciation Day. Hi, it's John, and welcome to the Independence Calendar for this week.
00:01:32.560 It is Sunday, April the 5th, and it is episode number 18, if I remember correctly. And I'm in
00:01:39.260 my car right now, as you can see. I'm about to head out on Saturday morning, April 4th. It is
00:01:44.820 Canvasser Appreciation Day. I plan on hitting a bunch of places today. I've got chocolate bunnies.
00:01:50.480 I've got chocolate eggs to hand out today just to say thank you and show the people who have been out canvassing for the last three months how appreciative I am of them and for helping us get to that special magic goal that Mitch Sylvester announced earlier this week.
00:02:06.040 Also coming up on the Independence Calendar, I've got an interview with Jeff Rath and we'll take a look at your submissions from this week as well.
00:02:13.020 So I'm just coming up to my first drop-off today. I'm out here on Stone Trail, out towards Prittis.
00:02:19.960 We've got a signing place right here. I thought I'd drop in and say hi to these people.
00:02:25.720 I was out here a couple of weeks ago, and I just came in to say hi.
00:02:29.920 I thought I'd drop by again and say hi. They're out here all the time.

00:09:34.780 David and Sonia at La Quinta, California. Got six pictures here, so I'll run through them quickly
00:09:40.660 with people signing up, the poster for the event, and a beautiful shot of the sign-up location,
00:09:47.920 people lining up as well. This is unreal. Thanks so much. More pictures from LaQuinta coming up.
00:09:52.600 Lots of people snapping photos down there. Catherine sent me these, canvassing in the snow,
00:09:58.200 white cord on March 28th and Mayerthorpe on the 29th. Thank you for your hard work, Catherine.

00:11:06.120 You'll see John talking with Albertans in some of the pictures here.

00:11:33.120 I think you're amazing, Maureen. Thank you so much for that.
00:11:36.500 Kat, with this chilly pic and a message of harassment towards Robin, a dedicated canvasser, wrote me a little letter about this.
00:11:43.800 That should never happen. Thank you, Robin and Kat. I appreciate it.
00:11:48.260 Jess, with these pictures of his flag, it's called a solar halo, Jess, which you're seeing around that.
00:11:53.820 Now, is this a message of divine intervention in the independence movement?
00:11:58.140 And Jess, I'm sorry.
00:12:00.240 I'm sorry for misgendering you.
00:12:02.220 He pointed that out and says he doesn't take any offense.
00:12:04.980 Brandy, regional leader in Edmonton.

00:12:45.860 Chris with a great banner sign set up.
00:12:48.840 They say they can plop this down anywhere and well down.
00:12:51.700 Great sign. I appreciate you showing this to me. Leanne canvassing in Mayerthorpe and Drayton
00:12:57.080 Valley. Thank you for your hard work and telling me about your fantastic success. Brandy getting
00:13:03.080 in from Edmonton. As I said, they're doing very well with signatures in Edmonton. Another picture.
00:13:07.100 Thank you so much, Brandy. James with these pictures, one with the fringe and one with the
00:13:11.980 guy from Alberta pin. Those are the black and gold pins and bumper stickers and hatches. See,
00:13:17.920 if you want to get one, here's one right here, by the way, I've got one. I usually keep this
00:13:21.120 on my coat. It's kind of hard to see. You can't really focus in on it. But you can get these at
00:13:25.780 albertapin.ca if you like them. Why not give a little plug? Jeff with a picture of Tammy and
00:13:31.600 Lynn in Airdrie just yesterday. Thanks very much for getting that to me. Jeff with Kim and Dave as
00:13:37.680 well. Wade sent this to me. He was given permission to send this by the parents. The kids are getting
00:13:44.920 involved in alberta independence too hi i sure like your flag okay can you wave it really big
00:13:56.760 that's a girl what's your name
00:13:59.880 thanks to wade for that and my friend abraham in canmore he says happy resurrection day john may
00:14:22.920 god bless alberta wishing you and yours a wonderful easter best regards abraham
00:14:29.320 Abraham, thanks so much. Your photos are amazing. God, I love Canmore. Just a beautiful place.
00:14:35.240 Wish I could live there. I really do. A great photo. I appreciate all your pictures and God
00:14:40.140 bless you as well. So that's our independence calendar submissions for this week. A lot of
00:14:45.180 them, and I love seeing them. And trust me, it takes a lot of time to get all these things
00:14:49.360 together, but I love looking at them every week. Remember that if I get an email from you, I can't
00:14:55.120 always respond. I try to read them all. If I do respond, generally, it's a very short message
00:14:59.980 because I get a lot of email. But if you'd like to send something to me, just send it to
00:15:03.800 on to the next segment of the calendar for this week. First off, I'd like to thank everybody for
00:15:20.440 sending me songs. So many songs. It's amazing what we can do these days with AI. I created one not
00:15:28.540 too long ago. We Are Alberta. I use it for the beginning of the end of the submissions every
00:15:33.660 week. But I get a lot of songs. I can't use them all. I did get a link from these people,
00:15:39.240 Signal and Ground. They've created a playlist here of different songs they've created. They
00:15:43.160 say they basically write the lyrics, but the music is AI. So check them out, Signal and Ground on
00:15:49.840 YouTube if you want to do that. Now this did happen on Saturday as well. This was the big blue
00:15:55.680 beautiful flag day in Red Deer. Apparently this was a great turnout. I got a call from my friend
00:16:01.780 Wade Collins who was there. Wade's from Sylvan Lake and he went into Red Deer and said there
00:16:06.740 were lots of people with their flags there. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get any
00:16:11.160 video. A guy named Vance sent me a whole bunch of email overnight but Vance I just can't download
00:16:17.240 your videos. I wish I could. I wanted to show them on the calendar. So if you can find a different
00:16:22.440 way of sending them to me, by all means do that, and I'll feature them on an upcoming calendar.
00:16:28.020 I know that John, Alberta Patriot, this is John talking with Albertans, was there. I was able to
00:16:33.500 find this video he showed. He was talking to a veteran who was out there waving a flag in Red
00:16:38.120 Deer. You might want to go over and subscribe to John, follow John on X. So all of these things
00:16:44.740 happening. Also, if you're interested, make sure you head over to Stay Free Alberta. Let me just
00:16:50.000 find the website right now. Head over to stayfreealberta.com. You know, over the last
00:16:54.840 little while, I've been showing you the different places you can go out and sign the petition. It's
00:16:59.520 very important that you do that. Go sign the petition. I ran into a guy named Bob on Canvasser
00:17:05.040 Appreciation Day just yesterday, and he'd been waiting and waiting and waiting. He heard Mitch
00:17:10.580 Sylvester say that they had reached the threshold for signatures and said, you know, I wanted to be
00:17:17.700 part of getting us to that point. So I came out today. He was procrastinating a little bit,
00:17:22.920 but Bob showed up yesterday. So here's what you can do at the State Free Alberta website. Now
00:17:27.660 you can find this map. Okay. Just click on where to sign. Basically you go up here,
00:17:32.980 it says view location map. And when you go to the view location map, you come up with this
00:17:39.140 right here. And then you can just zoom in wherever you may be. Click on the little map you see on
00:17:45.000 the screen and it tells you where the signing location is. This one happens to be in Pinocchio
00:17:49.200 up until April 20th, Mondays and Wednesdays 10 to 6, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays
00:17:55.820 10 to 4. So all the information is right there for you. And if you'd like to make a donation
00:18:00.040 or do anything else, just go to stayfreealberta.com. Now let's feature our little interview
00:18:06.720 segment this week. Earlier this week, I got a chance to talk with Jeff Rath. Just your thoughts
00:18:13.000 on the signing locations. You've been out to a number of them. Your thoughts on the canvassers,
00:18:17.540 I call them the heroes of independence who have been out on the front lines over the last couple
00:18:21.160 of months. Well, exactly that. I mean, I always say that they're the heart, soul, and backbone
00:18:27.000 of this entire movement, right? And I mean, I can't even express to these people how personally
00:18:32.680 grateful i am and how personally grateful my family is you know for all of the time that they
00:18:37.800 put in and all of the work that they put in and you know all you know all of the hours that uh
00:18:42.600 you know that they've spent you know making this happen because it wouldn't be happening without
00:18:47.320 you know all of them and that's why you know like myself like you know like you you know anytime i
00:18:51.480 see a pop-up you know i want to i pull over and i want to say thank you and uh you know whatever
00:18:56.040 because i'm just so grateful you know to all of them for helping us free our province or you know 0.84
00:19:01.720 know free our province and make alberta a country you know free from you know communist ottawa
00:19:08.200 no it's been amazing and i've been pulling over this coming saturday uh it's going to be canvas
00:19:14.120 or appreciation day so pull over just shake a hand and say thank you or drop off a coffee uh
00:19:19.160 if you can do that on saturday and anytime you see one of these people they're sitting on the
00:19:23.320 side of the road sometimes collecting 10 or 12 um signatures at a time through three or four hours
00:19:29.320 because it might be a cold day and we've got more snow here in calgary and they're out there today
00:19:34.200 as well did you ever think this would stretch so far we've seen scottsdale arizona yuma uh yuma
00:19:39.960 arizona california i got some pictures in from zama city in north alberta didn't even know the
00:19:44.920 place existed we've seen pictures from the pyramids in the top of a mountain yeah yeah
00:19:50.760 i gotta shake hands with the people that were getting people to sign in front of the pyramids
00:19:54.760 i'm real i couldn't i've got i'll put pictures up i've got pictures of all these things i'll put
00:20:01.120 them up in post but i never thought i would see anything like it the alberta flag with the great
00:20:06.180 pyramids in behind it's just outstanding you know you have to thank jason kenny and thomas
00:20:11.820 lukasik for that right because it started out with the folks down in yuma that thought hey this
00:20:16.380 will be fun we're down here we'll have a signing you know in yuma and then of course lukasik and
00:20:21.440 you know, and Kenny, this is even more treasonous. This is bad. This has to be illegal. This is treason. And then, of course, it just became a game at that point. You know, they have people used to travel with a garden gnome and then take pictures of the garden gnome in front of the Eiffel Tower and all these different places, right?
00:20:41.480 So all of these people just decided that they're going to basically have signature signings all over the world just to troll Jason Kennedy and Thomas Lukasik.
00:20:51.000 I love our people.
00:20:52.000 I mean, just hilarious.
00:20:53.600 And this is completely organic.
00:20:55.540 Like none of us have organized this at an organizational level.
00:20:58.620 This is just our, you know, this is just Albertans having fun and doing what Albertans do.
00:21:03.680 The Alberta flag in Egypt and then there's a helicopter and they've got a little table on top of a mountain and they're signing a petition.
00:21:09.780 it's just absolutely amazing and you know the guy in zamis city alberta which i never even knew was
00:21:15.140 there he got 12 signatures in this little hut that he had up there just remarkable now i want to ask
00:21:20.960 you that people are really wanting to know about this court case i want to know about this court
00:21:25.440 case there's this challenge will the petition signing campaign be shut down i think it starts
00:21:31.080 on the 7th it could be a three-day thing uh next week will it be shut down or will we continue
00:21:35.760 until the march 2nd daylight well i mean never say never i mean if an injunction issues i mean
00:21:41.000 we'll deal with it at the time but i you know somebody who's been practicing law for 34 years
00:21:46.120 i'd say that the chances of that happening are you know i'll use the judge's words slim to none
00:21:51.840 i mean the the judge uh herself actually said in uh you know a case management hearing that we had
00:21:57.780 that the odds of her uh granting an injunction to stop the you know the signature collection process
00:22:04.260 you know we're slim to none right yeah yeah you know that being said never you know never
00:22:09.780 never never say never I mean maybe the fact that we've now announced and this is something I woke
00:22:15.560 up worrying about this morning we've now announced that we've reached the goal you know this could
00:22:19.060 trigger somebody to you know want to have a you know to issue an injunction but but again if you
00:22:23.620 think about what they're trying to do and it's it's a very odd thing right let's you know look
00:22:28.180 let's take a step back and look at what the Citizens Initiative Act is right the Citizens
00:22:32.760 initiative act is nothing more or less than the legislature setting out a process through which
00:22:39.640 citizens can communicate with their elected representatives with regard to a broad range
00:22:46.460 you know any issue that the citizens want to communicate you know in a formal way with their
00:22:51.120 elected representatives right yeah so you know in effect what these people are doing like the
00:22:56.220 lawyers that are going into court um uh you know claiming that they're you know that you know that
00:23:01.540 somehow or other that all of this has to stop because treaty rights are being violated you know
00:23:06.460 by people sitting on the side of a road you know getting other people's signatures right um you
00:23:12.620 know you have to ask yourself how in any way first of all anybody's rights are being violated and
00:23:19.620 second of all how a court can prohibit by way of injunction citizens being able to communicate with
00:23:27.320 through legislature. Thanks a lot to Jeff for talking to me earlier this week. It is always a
00:23:32.740 pleasure. It's always a pleasure to hear from you as well. If you want to get in touch,

00:23:59.960 A little bit different with Canvasser Appreciation Day being yesterday.

00:24:11.020 And I thought, you know what?
00:24:12.040 Let's end with something different this week.
