00:00:32.200 that Mark Carney's anniversary as the Prime Minister of the country was coming up. You can

00:00:45.660 this morning. Now, a lot of you will say he wasn't actually the Prime Minister at that point. He had

00:00:50.440 just won the liberal leadership. You'd be correct, the prime minister-designate, and he was sworn in

00:00:55.420 a few days later, but for all intents and purposes, he was the prime minister on March 9th, 2025, and

00:01:01.960 it has been an interesting year, to say the least. I've been following politics since I could first

00:01:09.320 vote at 18. I'm 61 now, and this year has been very interesting and probably busier than a lot

00:01:16.280 of others I've gone through over those years. Now, looking back on Mark Carney just quickly,

00:01:21.940 he came here with quite the resume. Here it is on the screen. Governor of the Bank of England

00:01:28.560 from 2013 to 2020, becoming the first non-British governor in the institution's history. He had

00:01:35.300 several jobs after leaving the Bank of England in 2020. He moved into the private sector,

00:01:43.660 chair of the board of Bloomberg, board member at Stripe, United Nations special envoy on climate

00:01:49.740 action and finance. Of course, he had a relationship with Justin Trudeau and the Liberal

00:01:53.740 Party, an informal economic advisor to Trudeau during the COVID-19 pandemic. And in 2024,

00:02:01.680 Trudeau appointed him chair of the Liberal Party's task force in economic growth.

00:02:05.800 January of 2025, he resigned from major corporate board roles. And in January of 2025,

00:02:12.600 January 16th, to be precise. He formally got into the Liberal leadership race, won it on March the

00:02:19.340 9th, and on March 14th, he was sworn in as the 24th Prime Minister of Canada. And as I said,

00:02:27.620 it's been a tough year if you're a Conservative. We went into the election on April 28th when

00:02:32.120 Kearney won, the Liberals won, a minority government. We went into that election

00:02:36.540 thinking just a few months earlier it would be a landslide by Pierre Polyev and the Conservatives.
