00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel 429 AM. It is Tuesday, November the 4th. I hope
00:00:08.360 you're having a great start to your Tuesday morning. I tip my big blue mug of coffee to
00:00:13.280 you today. Huge day today in Canada. Wow. Budget day. I think it's our first budget in 18 months.
00:00:20.880 How the hell can you possibly run a country without a budget for 18 months? The liberals
00:00:25.660 seem to be able to do it. But it is budget day today. My friend Paul suggested this video to me
00:00:31.360 in a text message yesterday. And I got a question for Mark Carney today. Mark, are you listening?
00:00:36.900 Got a question coming up in just a minute. It won't be long. This is not a long video. Trust me.
00:00:40.820 Got a bunch of questions. I went to chat GPT to ask a few questions. Now you can go to any AI or
00:00:46.620 anywhere. These numbers are pretty consistent. All right. Pretty accurate. So the question I asked
00:00:52.500 here is how much oil and natural gas does Canada import annually and where does it come from?
00:00:57.300 So when it comes to crude oil, this is the latest numbers here. In 2023, Canada imported about 490,000
00:01:03.100 barrels per day of crude oil. Most of them came from the United States. Natural gas in 2023, we imported
00:01:09.740 2.5 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas. Most of it coming from the United States. Another
00:01:15.140 question I asked of chat GPT was how much do oil and natural gas imports cost Canada annually? Well,
00:01:21.300 when it comes to crude oil, it's about $21.5 billion a year. And when it comes to natural gas,
00:01:27.200 it's about $3 billion a year. So about $24 billion annually Canada spends on oil and natural gas. There
00:01:34.040 are other places where oil and natural gas comes from, but most of it comes from the United States.
00:01:39.180 Now I would like to introduce you to Danielle Smith, the premier of my province.
00:01:44.300 And one more thing. We literally live on top of more than a trillion barrels of oil and more than a
00:01:50.320 quadrillion cubic feet of natural gas. These oil and gas resources represent an astounding tens of
00:01:56.520 trillions of dollars in potential wealth for our country. That means hundreds of thousands of new
00:02:01.640 great paying jobs, hundreds of billions in taxes and royalties for government services and
00:02:06.540 infrastructure, and potentially trillions more in spinoff industries like AI data centers,
00:02:12.780 petrochemicals, environmental technology, and a host of other industries that would benefit
00:02:17.940 profoundly from the wells generated from its development.
00:02:21.400 I don't think it's hyperbole to say that Alberta sits on a lot of oil and a lot of natural gas.
00:02:28.280 What was it Mark Carney said the other day when it came to his little pre-budget propaganda video?
00:02:34.460 We'll be our own best customer.
00:02:36.760 In fact, Mark Carney is quite fond of saying that.
00:02:39.820 Because we've introduced a comprehensive bi-Canadian policy.
00:02:44.560 We will be our own best customer.
00:02:47.300 We will be our own best customer.
00:02:50.800 We can give ourselves much more than any foreign government, including the United States, 0.94
00:02:56.840 can ever take away.
00:02:58.680 We'll be our own best customer.
00:03:00.840 We have the potential to become our own best customer for steel.
00:03:06.560 Our own best customer when it comes to steel.
00:03:09.080 You say that about aluminum.
00:03:11.060 You say that about lumber.
00:03:12.500 You say that about a lot of things.
00:03:14.880 I'm wondering why we can't be our own best customer when it comes to our oil and gas,
00:03:22.320 considering we've got so much of it, just like Danielle Smith said.
00:03:25.820 And particularly when you're so fond of also saying this.
00:03:29.520 The old relationship we had with the United States based on deepening integration of our economies
00:03:35.740 and tight security and military cooperations is over.
00:03:40.980 The relationship is over.
00:03:43.760 I wonder if the people who voted for you in the last election,
00:03:47.680 and the elbows up folks know that we depend so much on the United States when it comes to our oil and gas,
00:03:53.300 when we've got so much oil and gas right under the ground here in Alberta.
00:03:58.140 How much was that again, Danielle Smith?
00:04:00.460 And one more thing.
00:04:01.560 We literally live on top of more than a trillion barrels of oil
00:04:05.400 and more than a quadrillion cubic feet of natural gas.
00:04:09.040 I'm wondering, Mark,
00:04:10.920 why can't we be our own best customer when it comes to our oil and gas?
00:04:17.100 Thank you very much for watching.
00:04:18.620 I do appreciate it.
00:04:19.740 If you like the video, please give it a thumbs up.
00:04:22.100 Subscribe to the channel.
00:04:23.880 Ring the bell for notifications.
00:04:25.380 I'll see you in the next one.
00:04:29.600 Looks pretty good, doesn't it?
