00:00:00.080 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. It is 5.01 a.m. on Thursday, March the 20th with the big blue mug of coffee.
00:00:07.680 And by the way, congratulations, we made it to spring. It's the first day of spring today.
00:00:11.760 So today, well, first off, the card you saw or the title you saw in this video is not hyperbole. It's not clickbait.
00:00:19.340 I watched a video yesterday of Premier Danielle Smith.
00:00:23.160 And yesterday, she drew a line in the sand between Alberta and Ottawa.
00:00:30.020 And I'm surprised this isn't getting played everywhere.
00:00:32.620 Now, it is just Alberta. If you live in the rest of the country, you may not be concerned.
00:00:37.080 But if you are a Liberal voter and you say you're going to vote for Mark Carney and the Liberal Party
00:00:42.020 because you think Mark Carney and the Liberal Party are the best ones to defend Canada
00:00:46.120 and keep us together from the threat of the 51st state of Donald Trump,
00:00:50.120 you are an absolute fool.
00:00:53.880 This week has become a theme, and I don't like going over the same ground over and over again,
00:00:58.140 but I mentioned this on Monday. I mentioned it on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
00:01:02.180 Mark Carney and the Liberals are a bigger threat to Canada than Donald Trump and the United States of America.
00:01:07.860 And I believe that 100%. And I believe Danielle Smith believes the same thing.
00:01:13.320 She's reading the tea leaves here, folks, or at least the poll numbers.
00:01:16.260 I think she is very concerned.
00:01:18.720 So yesterday, they have this news conference talking about Critical Infrastructure Defense Amendment Act.
00:01:26.280 And here she is talking about non-renewable energy.
00:01:29.120 And when you're talking about Alberta, that means she's talking about oil and gas.
00:01:33.480 Listen to this.
00:01:35.200 This amendment to the Critical Infrastructure Defense Act provides an extra tool to safeguard essential infrastructure from interference.
00:01:42.040 And that includes interference from Ottawa.
00:01:44.120 I would certainly hope that the new prime minister has taken the time to read our constitution.
00:01:48.840 And I would direct him to pay specific attention to Section 92A, which gives the province, not the federal government, the exclusive jurisdiction over non-renewable natural resource development.
00:01:59.940 Alberta will continue in its pursuit of doubling our oil and gas production to meet the growing global demand for energy.
00:02:05.620 And we will not let Ottawa stand in our way.
00:02:08.100 We will not tolerate the continuous, unconstitutional overreaches made by the federal liberal government.
00:02:13.960 Measures like the emissions cap, the net zero electricity regs, the net zero electric vehicle mandate, and the energy industry advertising ban must be stopped now.
00:02:23.620 And make no mistake, Alberta will do whatever it takes to shield our economy from the liberals' growth-killing lunacy.
00:02:29.400 These amendments we're introducing today would include denying federal workers access to our facilities and the information they contain.
00:02:37.440 I will continue to fiercely and unapologetically stand up for Albertans and defend the best interest of our province, our economy, and our industry.
00:02:45.980 This ongoing tariff dispute has proven now, more than ever, that Canada must build big and build fast to reach new global markets for export.
00:02:55.100 Canadians and politicians from across the country are calling for new pipelines to be built, east, west, and north, to secure our future and end our reliance upon our southern trading partner.
00:03:06.360 However, if the new prime minister wants to resume an old fight, well, we will.
00:03:11.120 We'll fight tooth and nail.
00:03:12.620 Because if we can't make these decisions and build, when it's so obviously in the national interest, then what kind of an economic future does Canada have?
00:03:21.540 Today's amendments are a warning, but they're also an invitation to Ottawa.
00:03:26.580 Let's talk.
00:03:27.280 Let's rise to the occasion.
00:03:28.740 Let's use Canada's riches to protect our nation.
00:03:32.240 She all but threatened the government to stay out of her business.
00:03:36.300 But on second thought, she told the government to stay out of Alberta's business right there.
00:03:40.420 But she did mention in there that there's talk of putting in pipelines.
00:03:43.340 Are we talking about that still?
00:03:45.180 I haven't heard that talked about very much.
00:03:47.120 I've heard Mark Carney talking about his net zero plans for Canada, which means the decimation of our oil and gas industry.
00:03:53.580 So, again, Daniel Smith is reading the tea leaves and the poll numbers right now.
00:03:57.760 Now, they go through this news conference, and then they open it up to questions from journalists.
00:04:03.360 And I say that very loosely.
00:04:06.360 Now, listen to Daniel Smith's answer here.
00:04:08.780 Again, she sees Ottawa as a threat, but it's the question you need to listen to here.
00:04:15.720 And the total lack of understanding by this young person who works in media, it could be an older person, but a left-wing media type asking this question that does not understand what you and I understand, that the threat here is not Donald Trump so much, but it's the Liberal Party and Mark Carney.
00:04:32.440 But why this?
00:04:34.100 I mean, you know, the threats are coming from, you know, the tariffs, right?
00:04:38.060 That is the biggest threat.
00:04:39.100 That's what a lot of people are worried about.
00:04:40.440 Yet you're focusing some of your energies on the federal government.
00:04:43.660 So why is that?
00:04:44.940 Well, because the biggest threat to the Alberta economy has been the past 10 years of Liberal government that cancelled $176 billion worth of investment.
00:04:52.040 We continue to face threats, whether it's the tanker ban off the West Coast, Bill C-69, which has still not been passed, net zero power rigs, net zero cars, net zero buildings, methane caps, emissions caps.
00:05:06.280 If they continue doing that, it'll crush our economy.
00:05:08.500 So I would say that we'd face a dual threat.
00:05:11.160 Yes, we have to deal with the tariffs, but we also equally have to deal with a federal Liberal government that has tried to crush our economy for the past 10 years.
00:05:19.040 And we're just not going to let them do that anymore.
00:05:20.440 This news conference is absolute gold when it comes to talking about Alberta, Canada, and our federal politics right now.
00:05:28.980 Now, up next, Rick Bell, who works for Post Media, writes in the Calgary Sun, so he's very familiar with what's been going on here in Alberta.
00:05:36.140 He asks about the fact that Albertans are going to be very upset if the Liberals get elected for a fourth time.
00:05:43.020 Then he follows it up with the question, what are you going to do if they are elected?
00:05:46.300 And Danielle Smith lists a number of things that she wants to see gone when it comes to our oil and gas industry.
00:05:54.080 And these are things that Mark Carney will never do because net zero is his religion.
00:06:02.160 Watch this.
00:06:03.460 Are you prepared to deal with what could come out of a victory by Carney and the Liberals?
00:06:09.520 Well, I can tell you, President Donald Trump seems to want the Liberals to win again.
00:06:15.600 He gave an interview with Laura Ingraham yesterday saying that he'd prefer for the Liberals.
00:06:20.660 And you have to wonder why.
00:06:22.060 I think it's because the Liberals have made us weak over the last 10 years, and he wants to see that weakness continue.
00:06:27.240 I certainly don't.
00:06:28.600 I want to see us be the strong and united country that I know we can be, getting our products to market and working together collaboratively to do so.
00:06:36.580 How would you deal with the almost certain frustration, disappointment, frustration, and even anger that there would be yet another Liberal government in Ottawa that might be unfriendly to Alberta?
00:06:56.780 Well, I would say that I've got a term sheet, and my term sheet has a few key things on it.
00:07:04.740 Number one, respect section 92A of the Constitution, which we are reinforcing here today with this legislation.
00:07:12.040 Allow us the autonomy to develop our resources and get them to market.
00:07:16.420 Number two, repeal the section, the offending sections of Bill C-69, which prevents us from being able to build pipelines,
00:07:24.100 end the tanker ban off the West Coast, which prevents us from exporting our product internationally,
00:07:30.120 end the net zero power regs, end the net zero vehicle standards,
00:07:34.880 end any talk of an emissions cap, end any talk of a methane emissions cap,
00:07:40.180 end the war on plastics, which we also, incidentally, was another area that we won at the federal court,
00:07:47.860 and treat Alberta as a partner.
00:07:49.600 Like, those are very simple things. Those should not be difficult things to agree to, because it's enshrined in our Constitution.
00:07:56.300 So I will put that term sheet before whoever wins the next election, and I guess we'll see what the federal response is.
00:08:03.880 She lists off those things and says they're simple things, but they're not for Mark Carney.
00:08:08.580 Again, this is his religion.
00:08:09.880 Now, I mentioned earlier we had a journo that was completely clueless asking the Premier a question.
00:08:15.720 This journo gets it. He understands what's going on here, and he asked Danielle Smith about net zero.
00:08:24.260 And again, she's drawing that line in the sand, and every time she talks, it's getting deeper.
00:08:29.840 Premier, some people would argue that Mark Carney has an almost religious attachment to net zero,
00:08:36.440 and that has a lot of people worried. One energy expert I spoke with today said that Mark Carney's going to come for Alberta
00:08:44.340 in a similar manner as Trudeau and Guivo. How worried are you?
00:08:50.120 I think there's a real danger that the new prime minister is worse than the old prime minister.
00:08:54.460 I haven't read his book, Values, but if one of his values is keeping oil and gas in the ground,
00:09:00.700 and he thinks Alberta can operate on wind and solar and battery power, he's got another thing coming.
00:09:05.660 So I will be able to make our case very clearly, especially in the changing environment we find ourselves in,
00:09:11.760 that our world needs more energy. They need more energy from a reliable democratic source and ally.
00:09:17.840 And the world is very interested in what Alberta has to offer,
00:09:21.240 and I would hope that they would work in partnership with us to be able to get that to market.
00:09:25.000 So I haven't had that conversation with the new prime minister yet. I intend to,
00:09:29.280 and I'll have to vet it at that time, but everything I've seen so far suggests to me that,
00:09:34.820 you know, ending the retail carbon tax just so consumers can't see it when they go and fill up their gas
00:09:40.740 or when they look at their home heating bill, but then walloping our industry with potentially higher taxes,
00:09:46.660 that's just not going to fly. So that's what I'm hearing from the prime minister,
00:09:49.960 is that he's, he's doing a, an action to get political popularity,
00:09:54.960 but the effect on our industry here is no different than what we saw under environment minister,
00:10:00.100 Stephen Guibo and prime minister, Justin Trudeau. So can we work through that?
00:10:04.300 I don't know yet, but I can tell you, I'm not encouraged by what I've seen so far.
00:10:08.640 You know what? I think Danielle Smith, maybe in the back of her head right now is thinking,
00:10:12.860 what do we do if the liberals get in again and they start imposing their will on Alberta again,
00:10:18.280 like they've been doing for the last 10 years? I think in a way, she's a bit of a closet separatist.
00:10:23.460 She's been talking about an Alberta pension plan, which I think we need. I've looked into it.
00:10:27.460 I would love to see that happen in Alberta. We need our own police force here, get rid of the RCMP,
00:10:32.680 or at least put them in the background and get our own police force, like the OPP,
00:10:36.300 the Ontario Provincial Police in Ontario. I think we need that as well. But I think separation is
00:10:42.000 getting closer here in Alberta all the time. And again, for you people who say you're going to vote
00:10:46.180 liberal, because you want to keep the country together, the biggest threat is not from without,
00:10:51.540 it is from within. And that's Mark Carney and the Liberal Party. I hope you enjoyed this video.
00:10:56.500 Thanks very much for watching. We're getting closer to 15,000 subscribers here. It's so exciting.
