00:02:28.700 the fight against climate change. Now, this article is from a little over a year ago. Here's a quick

00:02:33.300 explanation of what it's about. The European Union's carbon border adjustment mechanism,

00:02:37.760 CBAM, officially launched in October 23, now requires importers to report on the direct and

00:02:44.720 indirect greenhouse gas emissions embedded in the goods they import. Beginning in January 2026,

00:02:51.640 the EU will start imposing tariffs on imports from countries that do not price carbon at the

00:02:57.300 bloc's market rate, which could significantly affect carbon intensive producers among its trading

00:03:02.840 partners. So in essence, if a country is shipping something into this country, Canada,

00:03:07.760 it doesn't live up to Mark Carney's standards when it comes to carbon dioxide,

00:03:11.940 tariff or tax on those goods, which end up getting passed down to you. And we know the United States

00:03:17.820 does not do this. Mark Carney loves it. Here he is talking back in January.

00:03:22.360 Third thing we're going to do is to ensure that there's fair competition for our companies and that

00:03:30.300 we penalize high polluting foreign imports. So we're going to develop a carbon border adjustment

00:03:35.720 mechanism. What that does is promote jobs here at home. It prevents carbon leakage abroad.

00:04:19.100 currently covered by the scheme on the grounds that these firms account for nearly all of the

00:04:23.500 missions involved. Their approval makes it highly likely that the EU will exempt most of the 200,000

00:04:29.240 importers that had been due to face the world's first carbon border tariff starting next year.

00:04:34.220 And again, I've seen people talk about this today, but I was thinking, has Donald Trump got anything

00:04:39.080 to do with this? Because this is an article out of the Guardian. There's not a lot of articles about
