Summary

Donald Trump's trade war with Canada is confusing and confusing and I have a theory as to why he might be trying to get back at Canada. I talk about how many times Justin Trudeau has insulted Trump since he first became president and why he thinks Donald Trump is mad at him.

00:00:00.080 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. It is 6.40 a.m. on Saturday, March the 8th with the big blue mug of coffee.
00:00:07.440 A little different video today. I try to do things a little different here.
00:00:11.640 By the way, thank you. I made it to 11,000 subscribers yesterday, so if you feel so inclined, click on the subscribe button right there.
00:00:19.960 Thank you so much. I do appreciate it.
00:00:22.500 So, if you're like me, you're wondering what the hell is going on with Donald Trump and these tariffs on Canada.
00:00:31.120 It's rather confusing, and you're wondering what the endgame is.
00:00:34.820 Is this a plan? Is there something going on? What's the grand scheme of things?
00:00:38.760 That's the way I've been thinking about it. I've got my theory.
00:00:41.500 And my theory could lead us on in this video for 30 minutes.
00:00:44.800 Trust me, when I get to some of the stuff I want to show you today, it goes on and on and on and on and on.
00:00:50.300 It's endless. The reason I'm doing this today is because I was watching Ezra Levant from Rebel News interview Derek Fildebrandt from the Western Standard yesterday.
00:00:58.560 And they spent a lot of time talking about this.
00:01:00.880 And they seem rather confused about what Donald Trump is doing right now.
00:01:05.480 So, let's watch a little bit of that, and we'll come back and talk about it a little bit more.
00:01:10.560 I'm not convinced that there's any sound strategy in what he's trying to achieve, at least with Alberta oil.
00:01:16.480 I can see what he might be trying to achieve with the auto sector, and that's obviously a bad thing for Windsor and the Ontario auto manufacturers.
00:01:26.000 You can at least see where he might be trying to go.
00:01:28.420 But I can't see where he's trying to go, at least with the Alberta oil sands.
00:01:33.700 You know, one thing that is very clear is his disdain for Justin Trudeau.
00:01:38.820 I mean, again, he's yanking his chain, calling him governor instead of prime minister.
00:01:45.100 Fildebrandt and Levant go over a number of different reasons why they think Donald Trump is doing this.
00:01:50.320 But it's Levant, what he says there, about Donald Trump not liking Justin Trudeau.
00:01:56.480 And I think that's part of the reason why this is going on.
00:02:00.820 But is Donald Trump that vindictive to go after the whole country of Canada just because he doesn't like Justin Trudeau?
00:02:09.100 Does he hold that much of a grudge?
00:02:10.840 I started thinking, how many times has Trudeau or the Liberal Party insulted Donald Trump since he first became president?
00:02:19.260 So that's what I put it in.
00:02:20.340 I put Trudeau insults Trump and I came with a bunch of things.
00:02:24.420 And it would go on forever if I went through everything here.
00:02:28.400 So I'm going to try to keep it short.
00:02:30.060 So that's what I did.
00:02:30.820 So this is the first thing that popped up.
00:02:32.660 Surprisingly, it's from People magazine.
00:02:35.560 And this goes back to 2017, about less than a month after Donald Trump was inaugurated for the first time.
00:02:41.260 All the times Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has slammed President Trump.
00:02:45.880 And we'll go down here to an infamous tweet.
00:02:47.960 Do you recall this?
00:02:49.240 Of course you do if you're a Canadian.
00:02:50.780 You remember this.
00:02:52.300 Trudeau also spoke out last month against Trump's immigration order, temporarily banning refugees and people from seven Muslim majority countries from entering the U.S.
00:03:01.540 And here it is right here, folks.
00:03:03.540 To those fleeing persecution, terror and war, Canadians will welcome you regardless of your faith.
00:03:09.880 Diversity is our strength.
00:03:11.940 Diversity is not our strength.
00:03:14.180 Unity is our strength.
00:03:15.760 But people coming from the United States are not fleeing persecution, terror and war.
00:03:22.240 But that tweet brought thousands of people into Canada.
00:03:26.800 We've got a housing problem because of it to this day.
00:03:29.140 And believe it or not, folks, I don't know whether you know this, that tweet is still online.
00:03:34.460 Moving ahead here.
00:03:35.640 This article right here.
00:03:37.580 This is them meeting at the G7.
00:03:40.960 G7 Unity torpedoed by angry Trump tweets, dismissing Trudeau as dishonest and weak.
00:03:47.160 He sent out this tweet right here on June 9, 2018, based on Justin's false statements at his news conference and the fact that Canada is charging massive tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies.
00:03:58.420 Do you remember this?
00:03:59.840 It sounds like deja vu all over again, doesn't it?
00:04:02.700 I have instructed our U.S. reps not to endorse the communique as we look at tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. market.
00:04:09.400 In a second tweet, Trump said his ire was prompted by Trudeau's comments at his closing news conference.
00:04:14.860 PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that U.S. tariffs were kind of insulting and they will be not pushed around.
00:04:25.900 So that's what Donald Trump did in reaction.
00:04:28.840 So here we are.
00:04:29.500 Trump calls Trudeau two-faced over video that shows world leaders joking about the U.S. president.
00:04:34.680 And here is Boris Johnson, that's Macron from France, and Trudeau mocking Donald Trump.
00:04:42.260 Trump was not too pleased about this.
00:04:44.260 Moving along here.
00:04:45.520 Trudeau's criticism of Trump cited at U.S. impeachment trial.
00:04:48.920 Now if Donald Trump's going to remember anything, he'll probably remember this.
00:04:52.440 This is regarding J6 when he was impeached.
00:04:54.960 If we go down here, this is Texas Democrat Joaquin Castro, and he quoted Justin Trudeau in the impeachment trial.
00:05:02.920 This is what Trudeau said.
00:05:04.480 What we witnessed was an assault on democracy by violent rioters incited by the current president and other politicians, Trudeau said last month during an address outside his residence at Rideau College.
00:05:16.060 So does Donald Trump hold a grudge because of this?
00:05:18.980 Moving on, Donald Trump takes aim at Justin Trudeau, accuses him of undermining democracy.
00:05:24.900 The tyranny we have witnessed in Canada in recent weeks should shock and dismay people all over the world.
00:05:34.080 In an advanced Western democracy, the peaceful movement of patriotic truckers, workers and families protesting for their most basic rights and liberties has been violently put down.
00:05:47.640 So there is talking about the truckers and criticizing Justin Trudeau at the same time.
00:05:55.680 We all know what happened with that.
00:05:57.160 Moving along here, Justin Trudeau, here's another infamous video of Justin Trudeau, and this is a direct shot at Donald Trump.
00:06:07.000 It shouldn't be that way.
00:06:08.840 It wasn't supposed to be that way.
00:06:10.820 We were supposed to be on a steady, if difficult sometimes, march towards progress.
00:06:17.580 And yet, just a few weeks ago, the United States voted for a second time to not elect its first woman president.
00:06:25.760 So this was on December 11th, just shortly after Donald Trump was elected for the second time.
00:06:30.500 This was an article that ran in the Toronto Sun on the 11th, Trudeau's comments on Kamala Harris not helpful.
00:06:35.940 Premiers say, moving along here, this is Brian Lilly just a little over a month ago, a couple of months back.
00:06:41.740 Trudeau insulted Trump for years now.
00:06:43.420 Places are reversed.
00:06:45.200 Here's what he had to say here.
00:06:46.540 It's funny to watch Canadians in the commentariat class clutch their pearls at Donald Trump's insults aimed at Justin Trudeau.
00:06:53.580 Not because the insults and online trolling are funny in and of themselves,
00:06:58.000 but because it comes after two years of Trudeau insulting Trump for his own political gain.
00:07:03.400 Trudeau has denounced Trump's MAGA movement as a threat to Canada,
00:07:07.740 as dangerous as something to be avoided,
00:07:10.040 and has tried to paint his main opponent, conservative leader Pierre Polyev,
00:07:13.980 as a maple syrup MAGA conservative.
00:07:16.360 And that's what Chrystia Freeland has been calling Pierre Polyev as well.
00:07:20.960 Now, I looked up online.
00:07:22.540 You can go online, and here at openparliament.ca, you can get all the Hansard.
00:07:27.360 Now, Hansard keeps track of everything that's said in government.
00:07:30.540 This includes committees and in the House of Commons.
00:07:33.120 So what I did was I went in here, and I looked at from January of 2017 until current time,
00:07:40.800 liberals saying Trump, and it comes up 442 times.
00:07:44.820 Now, there are cases where they use the word Trump like as in Trump card or something like that,
00:07:49.520 but it's in there 442 times most of the time talking about Donald Trump.
00:07:55.280 And then what I did was I searched January 2022 until December of 2022.
00:08:01.140 Now, this is when Donald Trump was not president,
00:08:03.320 and they mentioned him 31 times either in committee or in the House of Commons.
00:08:09.000 This is the first one that popped up.
00:08:10.780 Now, this is in reverse order in 2022.
00:08:13.160 So December popped up first, but listen to this.
00:08:16.380 Arif Verrani, who was the Attorney General at the time, likened Donald Trump to David Duke.
00:08:23.340 Now, David Duke, the Grand Wizard of the KKK.
00:08:26.740 Now, this is the Liberal Party and Trudeau talking about Donald Trump.
00:08:30.680 Does Donald Trump hold a grudge, and would he use that grudge to attack Canada and Justin Trudeau
00:08:38.940 because he doesn't like him?
00:08:40.140 That's the question.
00:08:41.340 Now, we're one day away from having a new Prime Minister,
00:08:44.220 so this whole relationship may change.
00:08:46.940 Now, the other thing I want to mention is Trudeau may still be around for a while.
00:08:50.440 He mentioned this week there's going to be a transition.
00:08:53.220 Maybe you can straighten me out on this.
00:08:54.920 I looked for this.
00:08:56.180 I thought I heard that Trudeau wanted to hang around for the G7 meeting,
00:09:00.940 which is happening here in Alberta in Kananaskis country,
00:09:04.340 which is just west of Calgary.
00:09:06.040 That happens in June.
00:09:07.180 So, if you can find anything, put it in the comments.
00:09:11.260 But Trudeau may be around for a number of months, if my memory serves correct.
00:09:15.980 But is Donald Trump so vindictive that he would go after Canada with this crazy tariff thing
00:09:22.060 for month after month after month just because he doesn't like Justin Trudeau?
00:09:27.000 So, let me know what you think.
00:09:28.820 Thanks for watching the video.
00:09:30.340 I do appreciate you very much.
00:09:32.440 If you liked it, give me a thumbs up.
00:09:33.980 Subscribe to the channel.
00:09:35.060 Share it if you liked it.
00:09:36.260 And I'll see you in the next one.
