00:00:00.000 In this video, why the polling information from Angus Reid isn't worth the cell phone it was collected on.
00:00:09.280 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel, 443 a.m. Tuesday, February the 10th.
00:00:14.400 I hope you're having a great start to your Tuesday morning.
00:00:16.640 I do have my big blue mug of coffee with me, of course.
00:00:19.540 I appreciate you clicking on this video.
00:00:21.860 And by the way, if you haven't subscribed to the channel, help me get to 50,000.
00:00:25.720 If you would click on subscribe, I would appreciate it.
00:00:28.660 And keep in mind that clicking on the big blue mug does not subscribe you to the channel.
00:00:33.280 Just click on the button below.
00:00:35.240 So today I want to talk about polls.
00:00:37.740 You know, I used a quote the other day, lies, damned lies, and statistics.
00:00:43.540 And polls are statistics.
00:00:44.920 And I'm seeing all over social media today, people who don't like Alberta.
00:00:50.480 They don't like Alberta and Albertans.
00:00:52.580 It's quite evident from what they say about us out here.
00:00:54.760 But also from people who are anti-independence, posting a poll from Angus Reid, saying that there's very little support for Alberta independence.
00:01:04.840 I'm going to call BS on that.
00:01:06.080 So what I want to accomplish in this video, I'm going to try to do this quickly.
00:01:08.940 And I've jotted it down because I kind of want to go through these step by step.
00:01:12.960 I'm going to talk about the Angus Reid poll, why it is garbage.
00:01:15.720 I'm going to talk about another poll with more participants, done virtually the same way, that shows completely different numbers.
00:01:23.800 I'm going to show you another poll a month ago that shows different numbers.
00:01:28.280 I'm going to show you a real poll done five years ago that the Alberta independence movement needs to tap into to get out the vote for us to leave.
00:01:36.680 You're going to hear from a very good authority a few of the reasons why Alberta is pissed off.
00:01:42.200 So if you live in the rest of the country, you're going to love this.
00:01:45.160 You're going to understand even more why Alberta wants to leave.
00:01:48.340 And this woman spits fire.
00:01:50.680 So stay tuned for that.
00:01:52.300 And even with the flawed Angus Reid poll, what we can learn from some of the information in there.
00:01:58.540 So let's take a look at the poll right now.
00:02:01.260 So let's take a look at the Angus Reid Institute poll.
00:02:04.800 I'll put a link in the description so you can read it.
00:02:07.720 And unity or separation, Quebec, Alberta, and Canada's future.
00:02:11.300 In Alberta, a divided right dampens the sovereignty spark.
00:02:15.180 So here's the question they asked.
00:02:17.360 If a referendum was held today on Alberta's separation, would you vote for Alberta to leave Canada and become its own independent country or stay in Canada?
00:02:24.780 And they asked less than 1,000 people in a population of 5 million this question.
00:02:29.700 Would definitely vote to leave, 8%.
00:02:32.000 Would lean toward voting to leave, 21%.
00:02:35.340 So what they're touting is less than 30% would actually vote to leave, while 57% would definitely vote to stay.
00:02:42.340 I call bullshit on this because I just don't like the way they do polling anymore.
00:02:46.560 I don't trust the polls at all.
00:02:47.900 If we go all the way down to the bottom, find out how they did the poll.
00:02:50.960 And then I'm going to show you another poll done virtually the same way that shows different results.
00:02:55.960 How we poll.
00:02:56.800 The Angus Reid Institute conducts its polling entirely through online research, surveys, or studies conducted on the internet via a personal computer, tablet, or smartphone.
00:03:07.560 Well, let's do another one with an online survey with 20,000 people.
00:03:12.180 Just take a look at this.
00:03:13.180 So here is Chris, Minister of Smart Arcery.
00:03:18.460 It's a poll of 900 people, folks, referring to the Angus Reid poll I just told you about.
00:03:24.880 Here is also an online poll of almost 20,000 people.
00:03:27.980 And here's the question.
00:03:28.940 This is the actual question that will be asked in a referendum later this year in Alberta.
00:03:33.820 Should the province of Alberta cease to be part of Canada and become an independent state?
00:03:38.000 And in this poll, 76% said yes, 24%, no, and again, 20,000 people.
00:03:43.180 As opposed to the Angus Reid poll of 979.
00:03:46.720 These are both online polls.
00:03:48.740 But here's the interesting thing.
00:03:49.800 The people who love this poll, and look at this as absolute proof that Alberta will not leave,
00:03:56.800 Canada hated this poll that came out not too long ago.
00:03:59.960 Here's Rachel Parker.
00:04:01.200 It's happening.
00:04:01.820 A new ECOS poll shows 41% of Albertans agree that their province would be better off as an independent country.
00:04:07.820 My side loves this poll, hates this one.
00:04:10.420 Their side loves this poll, hates this one.
00:04:12.720 That's why I dismiss them all.
00:04:14.460 But I've got a poll coming up in just a moment that is absolute proof that there is a treasure trove of votes for independence out there.
00:04:21.680 And I don't think the Alberta independence movement is going after them the way they should.
00:04:26.000 Now, for those of you who live in the rest of Canada, you're probably wondering what the hell is going on.
00:04:32.200 And I've said here before, and other people who have been on this channel talking about the independence movement have said,
00:04:37.840 people out east don't understand Alberta at all.
00:04:40.280 You don't understand us.
00:04:41.500 We're not like you.
00:04:42.420 We're different.
00:04:42.900 But here is somebody who is going to, and I said right off the top, she's spitting the truth here.
00:04:50.320 Look at the determination in this woman's eyes when she says the following, okay?
00:04:54.140 And it's coming up in just a moment.
00:04:55.600 These are just a couple of the reasons why Alberta wants to leave, which leads me into that poll I just told you about that is a treasure trove of independence votes.
00:05:03.740 So listen to this woman and why Alberta has such a grievance.
00:05:07.880 And this is a woman who wants Alberta to remain in Canada.
00:05:12.240 Ottawa overtaxing us.
00:05:14.240 I mentioned that at the beginning of the evening.
00:05:17.100 That they, we, our, our, our program costs are 70% of all tax dollars.
00:05:22.620 We only collect 40%.
00:05:24.180 Ottawa collects 60%.
00:05:25.960 And then they use political means to transfer it.
00:05:28.720 Alberta, year after year, has 20 to 25 billion dollars that is siphoned out of our system to go to Ottawa so that it can be spent mostly in Quebec, but also in other places that vote liberal.
00:05:41.740 We have been watching this for years.
00:05:43.940 600 billion dollars in the last 40 or 50 years that have been taken under this province.
00:05:49.440 You don't think we might be able to do a little bit more on social spending if those 20 to 25 billion dollars stayed here?
00:05:55.160 You don't think we'd be able to cut taxes a bit if those 20 to 25 billion dollars stayed here?
00:06:01.040 It is $5,000 per Albertan that every single year gets transferred out of this province for political reasons so that the liberals can continue to spend it in places that vote liberal.
00:06:15.800 That is what is happening.
00:06:18.900 This video should be required viewing for everybody in Alberta and in Canada as well.
00:06:23.900 Maybe people out east understand a little bit more why we want to leave because you don't understand the west at all.
00:06:31.680 And Danielle Smith, spitting fire there, as I said at the beginning of this video, she's pissed off about this.
00:06:37.440 And she wants Alberta to remain a sovereign province within a united Canada, whatever the hell that means, or words to that effect.
00:06:43.560 But this leads right into the poll that I think is very important, that actually happened, that means something, that is accurate, unlike the polls we talked about earlier, because I don't believe them.
00:06:53.520 Lies, damned lies, statistics.
00:06:55.360 I'll get to that poll in just a moment.
00:06:57.700 But just think of the number there.
00:06:59.740 $5,000 for every man, woman, and child in Alberta goes east every year and we get nothing for it.
00:07:04.660 If you're sitting on the fence with independents, how would that change your life if everybody in your family could have an extra $5,000?
00:07:10.740 It would change it immeasurably.
00:07:13.000 So start thinking about voting for independents.
00:07:16.820 But what am I talking about when I say we actually have a poll that matters?
00:07:21.020 I'm talking about this.
00:07:22.740 This is an accurate poll of Albertans on the issue Danielle Smith was just talking about.
00:07:28.440 And this is a treasure trove of votes for the independence movement, because these people who voted in this referendum back in 2021 are pissed with our relationship in Canada.
00:07:41.680 I have mentioned a number of times to members and leaders of the independence movement this referendum, and nobody wants to talk about it.
00:07:51.520 If we could get a majority of these people voting in favor of independence, we would win in a landslide.
00:07:58.620 But you don't hear much about it.
00:08:00.020 So what was the question back on October 18th, 2021?
00:08:04.960 Well, here it is.
00:08:06.380 Should Section 36.2 of the Constitution Act, 1982, Parliament and the Government of Canada's commitment to the principle of making equalization payments be removed from the Constitution?
00:08:19.260 I voted yes.
00:08:20.100 And so did 61% of Albertans vote yes, because we're tired of giving our money basically to Quebec.
00:08:30.680 Here's a story on it right here.
00:08:32.800 Albertans support bid to change equalization.
00:08:35.400 62% voted yes.
00:08:38.100 And then there's this story over here.
00:08:40.080 Albertans vote in favor of scrapping equalization with over 61% saying yes.
00:08:44.920 There's Jason Kenney, who was premier at the time.
00:08:46.900 Now, here's the thing that you need to sell to the people, the 62% of Albertans who do not want us to pay equalization payments, ever again, here's what we need to say to them.
00:08:56.280 This will never happen unless we leave Canada and we can keep all the money to ourselves to enrich our province and your family.
00:09:06.440 Any changes to the Constitution require approval from the House of Commons as well as the Senate and at least two-thirds of provincial legislative assemblies.
00:09:16.400 This will never happen in Canada because the gravy train would have to come to an end and the gravy train goes right from Alberta and it goes out east.
00:09:25.520 This is the type of polling that actually matters, folks, and we need to take advantage of it.
00:09:32.240 Don't pay attention to the rest.
00:09:33.880 I think a lot of polls are meant to influence the way people feel as opposed to actually reflect how they feel.
00:09:40.360 I do think there's something that can be learned from that original Angus Reid poll, and it's right here highlighted in blue.
00:09:46.660 For the definite stay voters, nearly all find their own Canadian identity, 92%, Alberta's fundamental place as a part of Canada, 90%, and the prospect of an independent Alberta struggling to get its resources out of its landlocked state, 93%, as convincing arguments.
00:10:04.600 Well, as far as the 92% people, I've said this on the channel before.
00:10:08.060 I mentioned it to Mitch Sylvester, Dennis Modry, I think maybe Jeff Rath, Corey Morgan, that getting around patriotism is a hard thing.
00:10:15.760 People are going to say they're very patriotic, they love their country, but if you do meet up with somebody who is wanting to stay in Canada, ask them reasons why, but say they can't use patriotism as a reason, and they've got nothing, but we've got 20, 25 reasons why we should leave as far as Alberta's fundamental place as a part of Canada.
00:10:35.060 I think that's been eroding over time, and this one right here is something that we need to educate people about.
00:10:39.840 We hear this all the time, we talk about this all the time, struggling to get our resources out of its landlocked state.
00:10:45.760 Alberta is landlocked right now, and the reason we can't get things out of here is because we have to go through Ottawa and ask for permission.
00:10:52.940 If we become an independent country, we'll be able to negotiate with more power because we will be an independent country, and we will have rights to the sea because it is international law.
00:11:04.420 Don't pay attention to the polls.
00:11:05.900 I do believe that the ECOS poll at 41% is closer to the real numbers here.
00:11:11.000 I think this movement is gaining momentum, and the reason I say I think it's closer to 41% is because I'm out there talking to people, and we do have a lot of enthusiasm, and I think this movement is growing.
00:11:23.960 I think we can win this, but we have to buckle down and work even harder.
00:11:28.260 So if you haven't volunteered any of your time for the independence movement, do it now.
00:11:32.340 Go to stayfreealberta.com and sign up to be a volunteer, become a canvasser, and gather some petition signatures as well.
00:11:41.020 Thank you very much for watching.
00:11:42.180 If you like this video, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel, ring the bell for notifications.
00:11:46.620 I'll see you in the next one.
