A short clip from a recent interview with Tanya Clemens, a board member with the Alberta Prosperity Project. She has a message she wants to pass along to anyone who is interested in the independence movement here in Alberta.
00:00:49.500As far as events coming up over the next little while, you can imagine it's going to be a little quieter because we're into the Christmas holidays right now.
00:00:56.760No events really planned between now and the new year.
00:00:59.940But as we get into January, you can see things are going to pick up.
00:01:04.320And as we move into the signature writing campaign and move through this process to get to the referendum, which is coming up in 2026, it's so exciting.
00:01:12.740You're going to see a lot more events happening.
00:01:14.800There are a couple that I'm going to be at, which I'm really excited about.
00:01:18.820And we'll get to one that's coming up on January 10th here in Calgary in just a moment.
00:01:22.880But as you can see, Water Valley on January the 6th, Didsbury on the 7th of January, Bicycle on January 8th, Fort McMurray on January 10th, and then that big event coming up on the 26th here in Calgary at the BMO Center.
00:01:37.680This is going to be a big one, folks, a real big one.
00:02:29.760One of the people that wrote The Value of Freedom, which you can get at the Alberta Prosperity Project website.
00:02:35.360He's also working right now, I think, on a constitution for Alberta.
00:02:38.100And Corey Morgan, who's a real friend to this channel, Corey Morgan, of course, from the Western Standard, The Corey Morgan Show.
00:02:45.840He wrote The Sovereignty's Handbook as well, which you might want to pick up so you can answer any questions in the coming year regarding the independence movement.
00:02:54.340I actually got to meet Corey yesterday for the first time.
00:02:56.840We've been kind of going in different directions.
00:05:58.220She's a very important voice for independence.
00:06:01.020Here it was earlier this week right here on the channel.
00:06:03.700As we move into a new phase of the independence movement, how are you feeling about it where we might be getting to a signature campaign in January?
00:06:11.020And how do you want to convey the message to people regarding Alberta independence?
00:06:14.940Well, I guess like when you refer back to like my legislature's speech, yeah, there was a lot of boos because I think people are realizing the historical timeline of for 120 years since Confederation, since we were brought into Confederation.
00:06:27.700We have been trying to carve out more autonomy for ourselves and more sovereignty and prosperity and Alberta keeps getting shut down.
00:06:35.460So that draws the boos because that sentiment is recognized that it's disappointing and sad and frustrated and people have reached their max level of frustration.
00:06:44.760And that's why there is so much support now for the sovereignty movement, especially with Alberta Prosperity Project.
00:06:49.700And I think my message now is that we actually have a clear path.
00:06:54.280Canada is one of those few countries that has a legal pathway for secession of a province from Confederation.
00:07:00.500And we're following that path and we are building momentum and support.
00:07:08.760And Alberta has that opportunity to be not only sovereign and prosperous for themselves, but also to be that light of freedom and prosperity for the rest of the planet.
00:07:18.560Yeah, you mentioned that there are countries around the world watching us in your speech as well.
00:07:22.940And I've heard that from other people.
00:07:55.480We're not maybe quite as integrated as you would be in the city.
00:07:58.920And we just want to be left alone to do our work, to grow our products, and to live our lives out in the country.
00:08:04.900So that comes from kind of maybe that farming background that I appreciate the rights to self-determination.
00:08:12.160And in a sovereign Alberta, we could create, you know, a direct democracy with more representation for the people, the power coming back to the people, that we can't have tax increases without a referendum by the people approving it and things like that.
00:08:25.080And then I guess the other part is that the financial part is huge for everybody.
00:08:31.080And I think that's where it really crosses all political lines.
00:08:34.340It doesn't matter where you fall politically.
00:08:51.000What could you do with that paycheck for your family?
00:08:53.020What would that mean for your kids' education, for your parents' retirement age, for how you could contribute back to your community better?
