00:02:22.560been waiting for this for quite some time. They said, when will it be released? It's known as
00:02:27.200the white paper. And I said, well, why don't we find out? So I called up Dennis Kalma, who I know
00:02:33.880very well. He's become a friend of mine. And I called him up during the meeting the other night,
00:02:38.780and he was nice enough to go on microphone and answer the question for people right then and
00:02:45.040there. It was fascinating. He said they're a little bit behind right now. They hope to release
00:02:49.300it right around now, about two weeks behind. So look for it around the middle of August for those
00:02:54.380of you wanting to know about the transition paper. So that's good to know. So something else that's
00:02:59.520going on right now and something that I found rather interesting. You may have seen my video.

00:03:14.100for the petition campaign. They finally did that. And about 80,000 of the signatures were thrown out

00:03:27.700people that I admire and work so hard for those four months through the wintertime did not screw
00:03:32.740up 80,000 times. It's ridiculous. Mitch Sylvester has responded to this. Let me read a little bit0.99

00:03:52.820thing to you, but I'll put a link in the description so you can read it. So this is a
00:03:58.160couple of days ago on the 29th of July. Mitch Sylvester, proponent of the citizen initiative
00:04:03.460petition organized with Stay Free Alberta and CEO of the Alberta Prosperity Project is calling on
00:04:09.320the Alberta legislature to review Elections Alberta's administration of the petition process
00:04:14.520and enact clear regulations governing how citizen initiative signatures are validated
00:04:19.200and verified. Although the petition surpassed the statutory threshold of 177,732 signatures,
00:04:27.760The process exposed serious problems with elections, Alberta's methodology.
00:04:33.340The agency initially counted 286,000 plus signatures and found 279,000 plus valid, then applied statistical sampling and estimated only 222,597 as verified, showing how a small number of questionable decisions can exclude thousands of valid signatures.
00:04:54.340Citizen initiatives are intended to empower ordinary Albertans,
00:04:57.960not test whether they can recite perfectly recorded details months later.
00:05:03.440A verification should determine whether the person contacted is the elector who signed.
00:05:07.800It should not invalidate a genuine signature and statistically affect hundreds of others
00:05:13.600because someone could not remember a signing date or an apartment number.
00:05:18.060Elections Alberta's process was more stringent than the identity checks many banks use to protect sensitive financial information.
00:05:26.580Sylvester is calling for a legislative review of the citizen initiative process, clear regulations for validation and verification,
00:05:34.420a totality of evidence standard rather than exact correspondence in every field,
00:05:38.760improved public notice before telephone verification begins, and greater transparency on statistical sampling and how individual rejections.
00:05:48.060affect the final estimate. We'll have to see how that works out. I'll be sure to be in touch with
