00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the Independence Calendar for Sunday, October the 4th. I hope
00:00:07.960 you're having a great Sunday and a fantastic weekend. I tip the big blue mug to all of
00:00:13.040 my friends in Independence today. Tomorrow will be Monday, October the 5th, two weeks
00:00:18.760 to the day when we vote for option two on question 10.
00:00:23.820 Now, just a reminder to you, the 95 referendum in Quebec was basically won in the final week.
00:00:31.640 So let's fight hard until the end.
00:00:33.680 Now, people come up to me all the time and they say, John, thanks for all you do.
00:00:37.400 I get email from you when you send me pictures and events and activities.
00:00:41.580 You're always saying thanks for everything you do.
00:00:43.260 I do a little bit.
00:00:44.140 There are other people out there who are doing far more than me.
00:00:46.720 As a matter of fact, I was just talking with Chris Scott from Let's Talk Alberta just a few minutes ago.
00:00:52.480 He's out there all the time working his butt off like so many other people. Everybody that
00:00:57.620 has done a little bit over this period, but even just back until January 2nd when the petition
00:01:03.500 campaign started, thank you for working so hard and doing a little bit. It became a really big
00:01:08.460 thing. So we got lots of stuff coming up here. I'm going to get to the positive stuff in just
00:01:13.120 a moment. As you know, they've been throwing everything at us and over the next couple of
00:01:16.740 weeks, it's going to get very intense. The other day, they even dragged out Stephen Harper. He's
00:01:21.640 on with all the other politicians, ladies and gentlemen, with your Jason Kenneys, and your
00:01:26.240 Thomas Lukasics, and Pierre Polyevs, and Mark Carney's, and Nehed Nenshis, and yes, Danielle
00:01:30.640 Smith. They're all working together. They're all the same folks. They're all working against
00:01:35.520 what's best for people in Alberta. I believe that. And they brought out Harper the other day.
00:01:41.040 This article ran in the National Post. Stephen Harper's separatism poses significant risk for
00:01:45.880 Alberta. Jason Kenney, one of Canada's greatest prime ministers, to which I replied, Stephen
00:01:51.120 Harper lost to Justin Trudeau. Enough said. In fact, I did a short on this. Maybe I'll stick it
00:01:55.700 at the end of this video today. And then we got this article from the Globe and Fail. Elephant
00:02:00.860 in the room. Alberta separatists have gone to D.C. offering fresh water and oil in exchange for
00:02:06.180 American support and Republican operatives have provided tactical assistance inside the province.
00:02:12.200 Have any of you been approached by anybody from the Republican Party over the last year and a
00:02:18.120 a half to two years. I haven't seen a single one, but this is the propaganda, ladies and gentlemen.
00:02:23.720 They're dragging up this story that ran earlier this year and just bringing it back. It's just
00:02:28.640 recycled. Bring out the fear, bring out the Trump, bring out the 51st state to scare people away,
00:02:35.420 but that's what we're doing here. But this is going to be a positive show from now on, okay?
00:02:39.640 So what I want to do right now, I want to talk about a great success story here
00:02:43.580 and how we have to continue with the success stories. This is amazing, and this is from my
00:02:47.920 friend Tanya Clemens, who is the Farm Geek. Thank you for your support. We did it. Let Alberta
00:02:53.520 Decide has officially reached its advertising limit and donations are now closed. And from
00:02:58.980 what I understand, people are still trying to donate to Let Alberta Decide. They can't take
00:03:03.060 any more money. You can donate to some other third-party advertisers, okay? And what we're
00:03:08.960 going to be doing on Tuesday, I'm going to be hosting a live stream with a number of third-party
00:03:14.120 advertisers. Hopefully, I haven't called them. It was something I planned to do today. I want to
00:03:18.160 talk to some of the other ones that are still left out there trying to raise money and how we can help
00:03:22.380 them in the final two weeks. I've spoken to a few of them, and they still need money, folks.
00:03:27.840 So be prepared for that live stream on my channel, Jason Levine's channel,
00:03:32.560 Corey Morgan's channel, maybe some others as well. But we'll be hosting this live stream to
00:03:37.820 talk about helping out third-party advertisers six o'clock on Tuesday. Now, as far as Tanya
00:03:43.140 Clemens goes. Later on, I'll be talking to Tanya. I got out to her farm the other day. I did a 30
00:03:48.320 minute interview with her. It's been watched by 12, 15,000 people. I'm not sure. It's a lot of
00:03:52.500 people have watched a very long interview when I was out on her farm. I'll have a short segment of
00:03:57.440 that for you coming up in just a moment. Also, more of your pictures are coming up and I got
00:04:02.800 some great ones this week. I got some great pictures of people's pets with signs and flags
00:04:07.160 and babies. Awesome stuff. So that is coming up. We've got your events and activities in just a
00:04:13.540 moment. I spoke with Paul Chauvet from Alberta is my country. He gave me this really cool hat along
00:04:19.100 with a really nice shirt, some coffee and things like that. Paul has a small YouTube channel,
00:04:24.220 but Paul was a canvasser. He's been out there since the beginning of the year. He was out
00:04:28.160 collecting signatures. He's got a small YouTube channel and I watch him and he's got some good
00:04:33.080 things to say. He told me a story. I've done this interview already. He told me a story
00:04:36.600 that almost had a tear in my eye.
00:04:38.340 So that's coming up in just a moment.
00:04:40.100 So all of these things are coming up here
00:04:41.820 on the Independence Calendar.
00:04:44.460 So let's take a look at some of the events and activities.
00:04:46.380 I was talking about Chris Scott earlier,
00:04:49.240 and here is Let's Talk Alberta at letstalkalberta.com.
00:04:53.680 Now, Chris has been out in his giant RV.
00:04:56.000 He was out on Friday, but he'll be out on Monday,
00:04:58.880 that is tomorrow, for a road trip.
00:05:01.340 Bicycle, Airdrie, Carstairs, Olds, Bowdoin, Penhold, Red Deer,
00:05:05.380 all of these different places starting tomorrow at 1030, right up until 530 in the afternoon.
00:05:10.360 He'll have signs, banners, things like that as well. Also, there's a town hall coming up on
00:05:16.300 Thursday. We've got Shane Emmett, John will be there. This is happening at the Rich Valley
00:05:21.680 Community Hall. And then you've got this event coming up, Alberta in Focus on Tuesday, October
00:05:28.480 the 13th. So a week from this Tuesday with all of these great speakers, including Keith Wilson,
00:05:33.040 Tanya Clemens, Kathy Flett, Ben Crane, Corey Morgan, Chris. A great lineup with Let's Talk
00:05:38.800 Alberta. Letstalkalberta.com. And you can still support Let's Talk Alberta if you'd like to
00:05:43.840 donate some money. You can see the button up there in the top right corner. Other things going on.
00:05:48.360 We've got the Path to Victory with Let Alberta Decide. Now they've reached their goal, but if
00:05:52.940 you'd like to get people involved here, this is sort of the ground game, but you don't even have
00:05:57.740 to leave your house, head over to Let Alberta Decide, click on the path to victory. And here
00:06:03.420 you can register as a volunteer and you can start bringing people in and getting people involved and
00:06:09.180 making sure they get out to vote on October the 19th. Very important. Don't forget this event is
00:06:14.560 coming up on October the 17th at the legislature. I will be there emceeing this with a lot of great
00:06:19.800 speakers. This will be the biggest rally in Alberta history. Buses are available. Go to
00:06:24.480 letalbertadecide.com. If you go to that website, you can see up at the top here, it says rally bus.
00:06:29.620 Just click on rally bus, and then you can get to the rally if you haven't got any transportation.
00:06:36.600 Got this event coming up. Thanks a lot for sending this in. This is coming up. Picture
00:06:41.160 Butte Community Center on Tuesday at 6.30. And my friend Angela Tabak will be there from the
00:06:47.140 Alberta Women for Independence talking about the Alberta independence movement. Also talking about
00:06:52.320 the other nine questions. Make sure you know what the other nine questions are before you go into
00:06:56.740 the ballot on the 19th, or you could be standing there a very long time. I'm voting yes to all of
00:07:02.180 them. Don't listen to the no to the nine people. They're making this a racism thing. It's not about
00:07:08.480 immigrants and hating on immigrants. It's about protecting taxpayers. Like my mother-in-law,
00:07:13.180 who scrounges month to month. She's living okay, but she only has a little bit left at the end of 0.94
00:07:18.420 month. She's 90 years of age, paid taxes in this country her whole life. And I don't think she
00:07:23.940 really wants to pay for people who are here illegally or claim asylum. She doesn't want 0.99
00:07:28.800 to pay for all of their social services just because they got dropped off in a boat or on 1.00
00:07:33.400 an airplane. So that's what it's about. Vote yes on the first nine questions. Got this coming up
00:07:38.400 on Wednesday, October the 7th with Eva, Tanya, and Corey. This is at the Silvertip Resort in
00:07:43.880 Canmore. We've also got this event coming up October 8th, Wyndham Gardens and Medicine Hat
00:07:49.340 with these speakers, an evening to talk about the Alberta independence movement. And I wanted to
00:07:54.520 tell you about this. This is kind of important. If you're somebody who's part of the mail-in
00:08:00.800 ballots, now we've got 650,000 of them out there. We did a live stream on this this past week. I'm
00:08:08.380 not terribly concerned about it. I think they will be counted properly. You can feel any way you want
00:08:13.440 about it. But if you have sent in a ballot and you know your confirmation code, let me make this
00:08:18.900 just a little bit bigger so you can see it. You'll have a confirmation code. If you sent in the
00:08:24.420 ballot, you put your last name and you can find out if they've received your ballot. Okay. So this
00:08:28.500 is what you can do. I'll put a link in the description so you can do this as well. What I
00:08:32.900 want to do right now is take a look at some of your pictures this week, a whole bunch of them
00:08:37.260 coming in. If you'd like to send me some pictures or events, put pictures in the subject line if
00:08:42.060 you can. If you've got an event, put event. JohnBoltonAB at gmail.com.
00:08:52.240 Okay, let's take a look at your pictures this week. Try to get pictures of signs with people
00:08:57.740 generally are best things. Interesting pictures of signs with flags. Not so much AI stuff. Try
00:09:04.240 to keep away from that. I get a lot of AI pictures. I can do that all day long. Getting
00:09:08.840 pictures of a lot of pets. I like that. Pets with signs. Pets with coats that have signs on them.
00:09:14.420 That's terrific. Cats, dogs. Got some babies this week as well. We even got another Iwo Jima picture.
00:09:19.980 I don't mind the Iwo Jima pictures. They're looking great. So keep your pictures coming to me. So let's
00:09:24.980 go over and see what we got here. Hopefully this doesn't get too messed up because for some reason
00:09:29.040 I can't sort them according to name right now. So I might go over some names in a couple of
00:09:33.860 different ways here. So let's take a look at what we've got going on. This is at the Spruce Grove
00:09:38.480 Rotary Club Park. This is Lori that sent this one to me. And you can see the Alberta, Republic of
00:09:45.000 Alberta on the front of the car. Thanks a lot for that, Lori. I appreciate it. Here's a cat we got
00:09:49.260 from Colin, okay, with the flag. Another great looking cat from Colin with the flag. You might
00:09:55.640 want to get this one replaced, okay. A little faded, although it's probably got a lot of history
00:10:00.200 around the house, I'm sure. It's getting a little bit frayed there, but thanks for the picture.
00:10:03.880 That almost doesn't look real. It almost looks like that's fake, like it's AI. It's that. You've
00:10:09.480 got a good camera. Thanks a lot for that, Colin. Brandy, the stop and talk and flag-waving events
00:10:15.380 in Edmonton. Got a bunch of these pictures coming up. Here's some wonderful folks there. Great photo.
00:10:19.720 I appreciate that. Thanks for doing this. I actually have one of my pictures in here. Linda
00:10:23.820 sent this of Dave. Thanks. Hi, Dave. How you doing? Thanks, Linda, for sending this picture.
00:10:28.860 another stop and talk in Edmonton. Another great photo there. Appreciate that. Great looking people
00:10:35.900 doing some good work out there. You've got the Canadian flag up there. You know, I think that's
00:10:39.460 smart. I think that's really smart. Put the Canadian flag up and then the Canadians will
00:10:44.180 come over and you can talk about Alberta independence with them and maybe change some
00:10:48.040 minds. This from Colin as well. Another great picture. Thanks Colin. I appreciate it. I've got
00:10:52.900 a Corey sign up. We've got Jason's sign. I let Alberta decide. We've got Chris's sign. A great
00:10:58.420 collection of signs there. Somebody sent this in. This is an event, or this is actually telling us
00:11:03.660 about October the 19th from Alberta Forward, which is a TPA, albertaforward.ca, telling you about
00:11:11.140 independence coming October 19th, question 10, option two. I don't do a lot of these, but
00:11:16.620 if you can help them out, help them out and do go out and vote. Now, I love this picture.
00:11:21.580 I love this picture. Now, you've got the Canadian flags. You've got Canada is everyone
00:11:27.220 and for everyone. Who sent this to me, by the way? Let me just see. It was Colin.
00:11:32.540 So this is the Forever Canada bus. So Thomas the Kazakh's bus. 0.99
00:11:36.480 And this is Mark Carney's signature here. Somebody hit it with an egg. 0.55
00:11:43.780 That's an egg, a quail egg, apparently.
00:11:48.700 You got any more pictures of the Forever Canadian bus that has been pelted with eggs? I'm not
00:11:52.960 suggesting you do that because Alberta independence people don't do that. That's the Forever
00:11:57.020 Canadian side that tears down signs and does things like that. Okay. But anyway, so this is
00:12:04.000 from Colin as well. We got the dog with the flag. Lots of pets this week. Morgan, another Iwo Jima
00:12:11.040 sign. They even, look, they made it black and white with the blue flag. I love it. Very good.
00:12:15.100 I appreciate that very much. Looking good. Mariah says, ready to install in Lethbridge.
00:12:21.540 Well done.
00:12:22.620 Great signs.
00:12:23.440 We appreciate that.
00:12:24.900 Lori and Spruce Grove, another Rotary Club Park one.
00:12:27.820 Look at the beautiful blue car, right color and everything with the flags there as well.
00:12:33.020 Alberta Independence flags on that.
00:12:35.220 Another stop and talk at a flag-waving event.
00:12:37.760 Beautiful flag, by the way.
00:12:39.240 Look at the sky.
00:12:40.200 You know our flag, it's the best flag there is, folks.
00:12:43.860 It's the best flag.
00:12:44.500 I don't think Android and Apple have an Alberta flag yet.
00:12:47.800 We need to get to them and tell them we need an Alberta flag so we can use it as an emoji.
00:12:53.920 Down here, Mark, I called this Mark in the Dark.
00:12:56.960 Now, it's kind of an odd-looking picture, but it came out, that's pretty cool, of the flag there in the dark.
00:13:03.400 Everything's blue.
00:13:04.180 I just love it.
00:13:04.880 With the moon in the background.
00:13:05.960 Great picture.
00:13:06.500 Thanks, Mark.
00:13:07.020 Linda, this is Dave with Bax and the Dog.
00:13:09.900 There you go.
00:13:11.000 Republic of Alberta.
00:13:12.660 Terrific with the flags on the back.
00:13:14.240 Doing some work on the farm, it looks like.
00:13:15.640 Okay.
00:13:16.140 Okay. Emily says, a reminder, we're doing this for our children. This is the winner of the week,
00:13:21.660 folks. Come on. Come on. You got to vote for option two. Vote for option two for the baby.
00:13:28.080 Just so damn cute. Thank you very much for that. John, I took this picture. Kevin and Lori. Now,
00:13:34.020 I took this picture. I was coming back from Tanya Clemens' place, oh, back earlier this week.
00:13:39.840 And I was coming through Okotoks to get gas. And just north of Okotoks,
00:13:43.640 they were sitting there. There was Kevin and Lori stop and talk. And I've seen them
00:13:48.020 to the north of, uh, of Okotoks as well. And they're out there talking to people. I dropped
00:13:53.620 by to say hi. So hi to Kevin and Lori. I really appreciate it. And I appreciate what you're doing.
00:13:58.240 It was nice talking to you the other day. Okay. So this is James with, um, Chris Scott's
00:14:04.240 big RV. We call it a bus, but a big RV. This is my good friend, Busker James,
00:14:08.200 great friend of mine here. Uh, here's another one at the front of the bus. It's just terrific.
00:14:12.780 If you get a chance to go out and meet with Chris, he's out on the road. Check it out.
00:14:17.280 This is Busker James and his wife, Edith, my friends with Chris's bus. And then there's Chris
00:14:22.280 himself right there. So well done to James and to Edith for doing that. Love this one. Woody,
00:14:28.760 north of Airdrie. Big thumbs up. Big thumbs up for the freedom sign. This is epic. Terrific stuff
00:14:37.100 there. Amazing from Bob. Now, Bob sends a lot of pictures in. Bob, thank you very much. God
00:14:42.600 love you for doing this. I said, Bob, you'd be the winner this week if it wasn't for the baby
00:14:46.800 picture. Send him an email back. Check this out. Hey, look, a new pipeline. And you got all the
00:14:53.340 little ponies running around it. They look like they might be unicorns. Unicorns and fairy dust
00:15:00.020 for the new pipeline. No, just kidding. We better vote option two. Thank you very much, Bob, for
00:15:08.400 that. Here is Becky the dog sent to us from Linda. Becky's voting option two. Thank you for that.
00:15:15.800 Blue mile picture number one. Loyalty is reciprocal. Is Canada being loyal to you?
00:15:21.280 Vote option two. Thanks for that. I appreciate it. Another blue mile picture from Bob.
00:15:26.220 We've got this one. Lamar, temporary Alberta Republic headquarters. I think this is in Arizona.
00:15:31.380 Yeah, in Arizona. Remember during the petition campaign, they were signing them from all over
00:15:36.100 the world. We had them at the top of a mountain. And in Egypt, I think this is in Arizona. So thank
00:15:40.800 you very much for that, Lamar. I appreciate it. This man is eyeing an option to win in Alberta
00:15:46.300 on October 19th. I don't do a lot, a lot of the AI stuff, but I thought that was kind of fun.
00:15:51.560 And this is a dog at another stop and talk event in Edmonton, hanging out in Independence Dog.
00:15:59.060 Another stop and talk event right there. There you go. And Sheldon from Leduc County sent this,
00:16:06.100 great picture. Thank you very much, Sheldon, for that. We got this one sent in. A friend of mine,
00:16:10.600 who was this? This is Joan in Medicine Hat. Alberta, is this as good as it gets? You got
00:16:15.340 Ontario, Ottawa, and Quebec there with the oxen that's looking a little bit tired here. Vote
00:16:20.340 option two for sure. And I want to say hi to Joe and Vermillion. Now, for those of you who watch
00:16:25.220 my channel regularly, I pull out a liter of cream because it bothers the hell out of me that
00:16:30.500 it costs so much for cream. And I remember it used to be less than $2 a liter. It's crept up
00:16:35.840 to $4 a liter. At times, I can get it for $3 or $3.50. This comes to me from Joe and Vermilion.
00:16:44.780 Check out the price of the cream. Unbelievable. I feel for you. You should start drinking in the
00:16:51.580 morning, Joe. Start drinking booze. If you've got any more pictures for me, please send them to
00:16:59.660 johnboltonab at gmail.com. Put picture in the subject line. If you've got an event,
00:17:05.620 put event there and keep them coming. I think a lot of you will agree that one of the great
00:17:14.460 things that's come out of the independence movement is we have met so many nice people
00:17:18.320 and we've made so many good friends. I really feel that way. It's been a remarkable thing.
00:17:25.100 I've said, other than being married, and I've never had any of my own children,
00:17:29.000 so that would be pretty high on the list of accomplishments in my life. But the independence
00:17:33.340 movement has been one of the most consequential things that's happened in my life, and it might
00:17:37.200 be that way for you as well. We met so many nice people. Now, it wasn't very long ago I had Tanya
00:17:41.860 Clemens from Let Alberta decide over to my house. We had a nice little chat in my backyard. She
00:17:47.320 raised a big blue mug with me as well, and she said, you're going to have to come out to my place
00:17:52.140 sometime as well. Now, Tanya's yard is a little bit bigger than mine, but I took her up on it the
00:17:57.620 other day. I did quite a long interview with her. It was a lot of fun. Most of it from a combine.
00:18:02.660 Here's a short little bit of that interview. I'll put a card at the end so you can watch the whole
00:18:07.220 thing. Here's me with Tanya Clemens in a combine on her farm. Having a great time in the combine
00:18:14.820 with Tanya Clemens. And they've got, you know, they could talk to each other between the different
00:18:19.360 combines here. I'm just wondering, how do you find time to do independent stuff when you're
00:18:26.640 out here on the combine all day i know that you've been kind of um doing two things at a time but
00:18:32.800 this takes a lot of your time up doesn't it yeah well i feel like i'm always struggling a little
00:18:37.120 bit to try to do everything well but it's a balancing game and luckily my family is very
00:18:41.920 accommodating so they know that if i'm booked at conferences or speaking events or interviews or
00:18:46.560 whatever they are happy to cover and that is i'm very grateful for that but otherwise i'm trying
00:18:53.120 Trying to do the best that I can with my volunteer time to independence and also keeping our farm rolling.
00:18:59.780 Family. This is a family affair out here.
00:19:01.960 How do you think things are going right now?
00:19:03.340 You had you buy the house a couple of weeks ago.
00:19:05.800 You're returning the favor here today, although I have to say your yard's a little bit bigger than mine.
00:19:10.180 Not as pretty, maybe.
00:19:11.620 Well, I've got flowers and you've got weed.
00:19:13.580 I think this is beautiful in its own way, isn't it?
00:19:16.360 It is. It's very beautiful.
00:19:17.780 So how do you think things are going?
00:19:19.000 It's been a few weeks, I think, since you've been out of my place.
00:19:21.760 We're less than three weeks away from a vote.
00:19:24.220 It's October 1st as we record this.
00:19:26.540 Are you feeling confident about things?
00:19:28.600 I'm feeling really good about things, actually.
00:19:30.300 I think that one of our big goals when Keith and I started Let Alberta Decide
00:19:34.600 was just to make sure that this conversation was happening out there in the world,
00:19:37.860 that people were talking about it and feeling like it was okay to talk about Alberta independence.
00:19:42.060 And that is definitely happening because we're getting interview requests
00:19:44.860 from Germany, France, UK, all CBC across the country,
00:19:49.900 like all different news stations so the world is actually talking about this so that was kind
00:19:54.140 of the first step and then we're trying to get the messaging across about what is actually on
00:19:59.100 the ballot this referendum and it is not an independence referendum yet we might get to
00:20:04.460 that point but what is on the ballot is an option one and an option two and option one
00:20:10.220 is voting for the status quo and the continued path that canada is traveling down or option two
00:20:16.460 is trying to provide that leverage and negotiating strength to our provincial government to negotiate
00:20:21.260 with Ottawa on behalf of Albertans with strength that we've never ever had before and it would be
00:20:26.460 really interesting to go into an independence referendum knowing what Ottawa was willing to do
00:20:32.300 to try to keep Alberta and if they're really serious about us wanting us to stay within
00:20:37.260 Confederation. It's morning again in the west and Alberta is waking from a long dark night.
00:20:43.180 today Albertans go to work knowing their democratic vote for independence allows
00:20:48.100 them to take home more of what they earn young people and married couples feel
00:20:53.180 comfortable and secure and knowing they now can afford a home something they
00:20:58.020 thought unthinkable just a short while ago today's senior citizens feel more
00:21:03.580 secure with an independent Alberta providing more for them than ever
00:21:07.840 before. And with Alberta keeping more of its wealth and unfettered by the unfair
00:21:13.440 government in Ottawa, Albertans are building hospitals, schools, and pipelines
00:21:18.240 and look forward with optimism for the future. It's morning again in the West, a
00:21:24.040 single mark on a ballot for independence and Albertans are more confident,
00:21:28.480 prosperous, and free.
00:21:32.600 And just before I get to my full-length interview with Paul Chauvet from Alberta Is My Country,
00:21:42.600 great interview coming up in just a moment. I know this is kind of a picture section,
00:21:46.900 but it has a meaning and a reason for me doing this. My friend Wade sent me these pictures. I
00:21:51.860 think this is out in the Sylvan Lake area. There is Chris Scott's RV out there. We've got some more
00:21:57.440 of them for you here. People out there doing their work for the Alberta independence movement. Thank
00:22:01.320 you so much for doing this. These people are the heart and soul of Alberta independence. Now,
00:22:06.640 over the last week or so, there's been discussion about sign damage and whatnot. I've seen it
00:22:11.180 myself. I was driving out of Calgary going south into Okotoks, and on the west side of 2A, there's
00:22:18.080 these beautiful signs, one of Cory Morgan's signs, Jason Levine's sign, others up there with flags,
00:22:23.100 four beautiful flags there. I drove by there a couple of weeks ago, and somebody had spray-painted
00:22:28.060 trader and whatnot on those signs. I told Jason about it and I saw him the next day and the
00:22:33.700 volunteers who have been out doing these signs went out within a few hours and replaced them all.
00:22:39.320 Pretty remarkable stuff. So that's what's going on right now. I wanted to show these to you because
00:22:43.400 this is my friend Wade Collins from up in Sullivan Lake. Here's a couple of signs that
00:22:47.740 were vandalized. This is happening quite often and this is what you get from the polite tolerant
00:22:52.160 Canadians, right? This is the kind of thing you're seeing from the polite tolerant Canadians putting
00:22:57.620 stuff like this on there, which accomplishes nothing. You know what this means, folks? This
00:23:01.820 means is that we're getting to them and we're winning. So work even harder from here on in
00:23:08.200 for the next couple of weeks. You know, I'm laying in bed at 2.30 in the morning. Many of you who
00:23:12.100 watch my channel know I get up very early. And I want to say hi to Mr. and Mrs. Albertan, who are
00:23:18.460 just working their butts off. Two o'clock in the morning, 2.30 in the morning, I get text messages
00:23:23.620 from Mr. Albertan, who's out replacing signs in my neighborhood. I live in Southeast Calgary
00:23:29.240 and over on 52nd Street, not far from where I live, probably two or three kilometers from here,
00:23:35.840 about once or twice a week, somebody goes by and damages one of the Let Alberta Decide signs
00:23:39.920 on 52nd Street. Happens all the time. And people are out there fixing them all the time. So
00:23:44.020 thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Albertan and the army of people that have been back and forth across and
00:23:49.380 up and down this province since the beginning of this latest process in the independence movement
00:23:54.860 with signs. You're doing great work. We appreciate it a lot. Now, my next guest, Paul Chauvet from
00:24:01.880 Alberta Is My Country. He's got a small YouTube channel. Like I said at the top, former canvasser,
00:24:08.920 he was out there collecting signatures, working for Alberta Independence. I've got a link in the
00:24:13.040 description if you'd like to subscribe to his channel. I think he's going to be doing a lot
00:24:16.800 more content over the next little while. Paul's got some interesting insight in the Alberta
00:24:21.860 independence movement. I think it's important to hear everybody out there, to get their voices
00:24:27.340 out there. So here's my interview this week on the independence calendar. Hi, it's John and
00:24:31.780 welcome to the channel. And I'm recording this on Saturday, October the 3rd. I hope you're having a
00:24:36.640 fantastic weekend. You're likely seeing this during the independence calendar. I appreciate
00:24:41.520 you being here. Thank you so much. Got a special guest with me today, a gentleman I met on a number
00:24:46.540 of occasions, a fellow YouTuber. He's got a small channel. He'd like to grow it. He talks about
00:24:51.800 Alberta. He gave me this really cool hat. And unfortunately we didn't call each other prior
00:24:57.000 to doing this interview. So we're both wearing the same hat, but Paul Chauvet is here with me
00:25:01.860 from Alberta is my country. Paul, first off, thank you very much for the hat. Also, I'd like to thank
00:25:07.360 you for this great shirt. It's got the great same logo on it. You gave me some coffee. I like to
00:25:12.940 drink coffee so thank you thank you so much for this it's a pleasure having you on the channel
00:25:17.580 thank you so much for being here today well john i'm truly humbled that you reached out i appreciate
00:25:23.800 that thank you well we met before and i think the last time was it out at uh was it chris scott's
00:25:28.960 place is that where i saw you last i'm trying to remember where it was we were at chris scott's
00:25:33.000 jason levine chris scott a bunch of the tpas here in alberta put together just a music day it wasn't
00:25:38.420 really an independence day but we met out there i said i need to get you on the channel because
00:25:41.780 you've got some interesting things to say. And I'd like to throw out a helping hand, you know,
00:25:45.940 to send people over to your channel. Alberta is my country, if you'd like to go over and subscribe.
00:25:50.500 Give me your background. Are you an Albertan? And tell me a bit about yourself quickly.
00:25:55.220 Yes. Born and raised. My parents, my grandparents, my great-grandparents,
00:26:00.260 we've been in Alberta a long time. Alberta is Saskatchewan. I do have some family in Quebec,
00:26:06.580 but we've been we settled in a small town legale which is just north of saint albert so between
00:26:13.060 mournville and westlock uh right around 1900 and uh i i don't live there now white court is my home
00:26:20.660 today and i've been there about 28 years but uh born and raised in legale that's where my parents
00:26:26.100 and grandparents well how do you how do you think things are going right now in canada just give me
00:26:30.980 your quick thoughts on that uh well um i've been an alberta separatist since uh the national energy
00:26:39.860 program in the in the 80s right when we lost our farm so um it was uh i still remember my parents
00:26:48.340 crying and us having to move and i couldn't understand why ottawa kept coming up and i
00:26:55.220 couldn't understand why i was just a kid as to how they were affecting my family and uh i just
00:27:04.180 started to get into politics a little bit more i am a conservative but it doesn't mean i always
00:27:09.460 agree with the conservatives the conservative party has let me down more more times than i
00:27:15.540 can count and i just uh when you betrayed the base well you're done so you know i came out here 15
00:27:22.980 years ago, I'm, I'm an Albertan. I have a new shirt that I've got says Albertan period, right?
00:27:28.520 And I've got the hats that say, I am Albertan. I'm an Albertan. And I say, Alberta is my country.
00:27:33.100 You'll hear me say that on my channel. So thank you for this. I really appreciate it. But I'll
00:27:37.140 tell you, since, since moving out here, I never knew how deep the national energy program struck
00:27:42.500 people here because I was an Ontarian. We didn't think much about it at all. And I hear that all
00:27:46.960 the time. That was more than 40 years ago, Paul. And I hear it all the time from, from people like
00:27:51.760 you and from people who went through that. It's just a terrible thing to think about. And losing
00:27:55.520 your home has just got to be an awful memory for you. What do you think about the Alberta
00:28:00.440 independence movement right now? We're less than three weeks away from this vote. How do you think
00:28:05.160 we're doing? And what do you think our strategy should be as we get closer to the 19th, 16 days
00:28:10.760 from today? Well, I was a canvasser as well. For you, thank you. I think there's a lot of people
00:28:18.480 that are uh they'll vote on the 19th um i think we have some shadow support when i was canvassing
00:28:26.340 i recognized that some people wouldn't sign it because the what i call the the bouncy castle
00:28:34.000 rebellion the freedom convoy was was still top of mind uh they said what if this gets leaked
00:28:42.100 i'm not putting my thing down i'll vote on if it comes to it so i'm excited i i really think we
00:28:49.300 don't have a choice we really need to make this happen i'm a realtor and i'm seeing young people
00:28:55.300 like a strong middle class starts with buying your home in your 20s yeah and that is disappearing
00:29:02.300 and and so i'm i'm a very concerned for our young people because i i see nothing but tax slavery
00:29:09.300 when you have a federal government spending money and the interest on the debt being just
00:29:16.960 eating away at the discretionary income. You make some good points about this. That was your video
00:29:22.180 from yesterday, and it's called Young People. You need to have a chat with your parents and
00:29:26.060 grandparents about option two. And you talk about the debt and you make some good points about it
00:29:31.120 and put it into perspective as well. One of the other perspectives is that we now spend more
00:29:36.300 servicing our debt by a long shot than we do in our healthcare every year in this country. That's
00:29:41.080 awful. And again, if you're a realtor, you see it firsthand how hard it is for young people to
00:29:46.780 afford homes these days, don't you? Yeah. I mean, the problem I'm seeing is the people that are 55
00:29:56.400 and older that have a really good pension, that have their house paid off or almost paid off,
00:30:02.740 they have money in the bank or they have you know other investments be it stocks or real estate
00:30:07.760 they think that we're all nuts but they they're not it's not about them it's about their kids
00:30:15.040 it's about their grandkids uh it's they're not going to have the same opportunity as they did
00:30:21.140 the middle class like i said that's that's who pays the bills and uh when they're getting hammered
00:30:28.720 they're not going to be able to earn that first home build equity move on to another home as their
00:30:33.520 family grows um you know i'm i keep hearing in in the back of my mind saying the phrase where
00:30:41.920 you will own nothing and be happy yeah yeah that's world economic forum right yeah it's
00:30:47.680 very concerning to me when you have that much debt going down onto our young people i'll put
00:30:52.800 this up on screen because you've hit a good point here and i'll put this up on screen cory morgan
00:30:56.480 tweeted out yesterday showing some nice homes with some of his signs in front of it, the Choose
00:31:02.400 Alberta signs, for allegedly being a bunch of poor, educated hillbillies. Many Albertan
00:31:06.500 independent supporters sure have nice homes. And that's what he showed some pictures, some nice
00:31:10.940 homes. And Jason Kenney, the opportunist, the man who's trying to reach for more relevance,
00:31:15.980 says, true, people who have really been hard done by as Canadians, the indignity and misery of
00:31:21.340 being Albertans in Canada, enjoying one of the highest standards of living on earth,
00:31:25.040 throw off the chains of oppression. And I don't go on X very much, but I responded with this.
00:31:30.100 And I think it's very similar to what you're thinking. I responded to Mr. Kenny by saying,
00:31:34.200 these people have done well, but unlike selfish forever Canadians and people like you,
00:31:38.760 they're thinking about the future of their children and grandchildren. That's why they
00:31:42.540 want independence. And that's what I responded. And I think that's why you want it as well.
00:31:46.760 You're thinking down the line. You're a little older and you're thinking about the people who
00:31:50.780 are coming after you. And I see all those signs. I don't live too far from Fish Creek Park.
00:31:55.040 in the south part of calgary overlooking the park there's four million dollar homes and they've all
00:31:59.360 got the forever canadian signs out front of them because they're really wealthy they're doing fine
00:32:04.000 they've got a pension they've got no mortgage and they're thinking about themselves i call them
00:32:07.920 selfish canadians they're they're really out of touch that um like i said did and getting back
00:32:15.200 to jason kenney that guy is desperate to be relevant again i i voted for him uh yeah i did
00:32:21.760 too i voted for him in the leadership voted for him for premier then i voted for him as uh you
00:32:27.760 know to get out because of the disappointed like i said i i think conservative fiscal conservative
00:32:36.000 but um yeah i i i don't trust him and and that list is growing so so how do you feel people say
00:32:43.680 well you know we just have to have a better government in ottawa we just need paul e f
00:32:47.200 and the conservatives come in you voted conservative your whole life i'm i'm betting right
00:32:51.280 yeah uh i love pierre paliev i think he's brilliant and i think he's the best uh prime
00:32:56.560 minister canada's never gonna have yeah yeah i you have to remember the liberal machine is a
00:33:02.800 powerful beast i mean they put an absolute buffoon in the prime minister's chair for 10 years
00:33:09.600 the media is all part of that that liberal machine as much as i like pierre paliev 0.66
00:33:15.360 um the votes are still Ontario Quebec uh the votes really don't matter uh west of Ontario
00:33:23.760 and um I mean Stephen Harper was was Prime Minister Jason Kenney was part of his cabinet
00:33:31.200 what changed really I mean we we've had so we've had opportunities where we're going to make it
00:33:37.200 right and at the end of the day um it didn't happen I remember my grandpa being angry with
00:33:46.380 the federal government during the 30s and that's how ATB came to be is because the banks were
00:33:53.880 foreclosing on everything during the depression and it was the 80 and he until he was 99 he had
00:34:00.120 account at atv uh because uh les mootsy crush in ottawa right right so what do you think uh just
00:34:08.880 just on a final note uh all the politicians are coming after us and stephen harper he's weighing
00:34:15.040 in now he's got an article in the national post about what we're doing here he's totally against
00:34:19.760 it he was of course on stage a couple of weeks ago with carney at his investment summit where
00:34:24.860 there wasn't very much investment what do you think of all these politicians and people like
00:34:29.200 Stephen Harper getting involved here. What do you think of that? I think the betrayal is relevant
00:34:35.420 when you see people that, you know, you have the Liberals and it's all the same pot. Whatever
00:34:42.480 happens in Ottawa really doesn't matter. Alberta needs to be in charge of its own destiny.
00:34:48.720 We need to be our own captain. It doesn't matter who's in Ottawa. I remember my grandpa saying,
00:34:55.300 well the liberals are going to screw us and uh by punching us in the face but the 0.98
00:35:00.500 the conservatives are just going to not punch us as much 0.97
00:35:06.420 you know we're only one vote away or one election away from going liberal going going conservative
00:35:13.380 i mean uh i i have zero faith in ottawa that's why i we need to be we need to do this they call
00:35:21.860 Well, the Liberals, the natural ruling party are words to that effect.
00:35:25.100 They're always just one election away from having their boots on Alberta's neck once again.
00:35:31.100 Well, Paul, thanks so much.
00:35:32.100 Paul Chavez, Alberta is my country.
00:35:34.740 I love the name.
00:35:35.960 It's awesome.
00:35:37.260 Keep doing it.
00:35:38.060 You know, just do more content.
00:35:39.760 Keep it going.
00:35:40.400 I like what you're doing.
00:35:41.880 I like seeing you out there.
00:35:42.920 I'd like to thank you for being a canvasser.
00:35:44.700 You know, I was just thinking when we win this thing on the 19th, we're going to have to be back into campaign mode.
00:35:50.880 But all the great people that were out there from January 2nd and four months on from that aren't going to have to sit through a cold winter at the side of the road once again.
00:35:59.500 You know, I stopped at as many of those places as I could.
00:36:03.360 I was out in Okotoks the other day, and there were some people talking to people, people in the independence movement, just great people, Lori and Kevin.
00:36:11.240 And they're out there all the time talking to people.
00:36:13.580 And I thank you and the people that do that on a regular basis.
00:36:17.620 I have a YouTube channel.
00:36:18.620 I talk to people.
00:36:19.340 I'm able to talk to people here, but it's the grassroots people like you, Paul, and others
00:36:24.500 that are, we're all doing it together, right? We're going to win this thing. Thank you so much
00:36:27.920 for what you're doing. I am humbled. Thank you so much, John.
00:36:32.120 That wraps up another Independence Calendar. Thank you so much for watching. I think we've
00:36:36.460 got two more before we get to the big vote on October the 19th. Don't forget, Tuesday night,
00:36:42.160 we'll be talking to a number of third-party advertisers on a live stream right here on my
00:36:47.220 channel, Jason Levine's channel, possibly Corey Morgan's as well, and others. We're going to talk
00:36:52.800 about how you can help them out in the final two weeks leading up to the referendum on the 19th.
00:36:58.160 If you've got some pictures or events, please send them to me. My email address again,
00:37:03.120 johnboltonab at gmail.com. I'll see you on the next Independence Calendar. Thanks for watching.
