The Stay Free Alberta event last night in Southeast Calgary was a huge success. There were more than 1,000 people lined up to sign the petition to get us out of the oil patch. It was amazing! If you were there last night and couldn t sign, there are lots of other ways you can be a part of the movement.

Hi, it's John, and welcome to the Independence Calendar for Sunday, January the 11th. This
00:00:08.260
is episode number six, and I can assure you this one is going to be a little different
00:00:12.520
than the ones that have come before. Here with the big blue mug of coffee today, of
00:00:16.820
course, I'm going to take a sip because it's tasting sweet this morning after what happened
00:00:20.020
last night. We're going to have some of the same things, of course. I've got your submissions.
00:00:26.660
I've got a bunch of them this week, including a video today of somebody I met last night
00:00:31.840
here in Southeast Calgary at the Stay Free Alberta event. If you've got a picture of
00:00:35.780
a flag, a beautiful Alberta flag outside of your residence or your business, or you've
00:00:40.660
got a sign, send it to me. If you've got an event coming up, let me know about it. We're
00:00:44.920
going to show you those today. I've got a short clip from Corey Morgan from last night from
00:00:48.840
the Stay Free Alberta event on this, and a lot of people are sending me songs. I can't
00:00:53.200
play them all. We'll play one of those off the end of this. Now, why is this a little
00:00:58.300
bit different when it comes to an independence calendar? It was because of the event we had
00:01:03.060
last night at the Queensland Community Center. I did a full report on this earlier this morning.
00:01:08.060
I'll put a card at the end of this video so you can watch it. But I was overwhelmed, and
00:01:14.160
I was totally stunned with the number of people that showed up last night. If you're somebody
00:01:19.480
who's on social media, you may have seen some of the videos of the lineup of people that
00:01:24.720
wanted to get into this event last night and sign the petition. When I got there at 5.30,
00:01:29.920
an hour and a half before the event started, they were lined up to sign the petition. And
00:01:35.360
to the people that were getting the petitions and getting people signed up, thank you so
00:01:39.640
much. They worked very hard last night. I'm going to tell you where you can sign up for
00:01:43.640
the petition and other places where you can attend an event. It was mind-boggling. I would
00:01:49.840
suggest to you that there were three times the capacity, at least, for the Queensland Community
00:01:55.620
Center here in Southeast Calgary last night. There were that many people. I got this really
00:01:59.620
cool hat there last night. I am Albert, and I'm getting a bit of a collection here. Of course,
00:02:04.620
you've probably seen this one. I got this one October 25th at the Independence Rally at the
00:02:09.420
Legislature in Edmonton. I got an email regarding this hat, the person who designed this one.
00:02:14.440
And if you want to get a hat like this, snmalbertaswag.com to get this. And I know some
00:02:21.340
of you may have seen this hat as well. I got this way back in 2019. I've been part of this for a while,
00:02:25.960
being somebody from Ontario. I joined the independence movement many years ago. But
00:02:30.060
what a night last night. We had Eva Chipiak there last night talking. She got a standing ovation.
00:02:36.140
I'll put a link in the description below so you can watch this event from last night.
00:02:40.300
Thanks to Max from Freedom Calendar. You can hear what Corey Morgan had to say. Well-received,
00:02:47.020
as usual. Corey from the Western Standard. Corey, who wrote the book, The Sovereignty's Handbook.
00:02:52.840
Dennis Kalma was there, the writer of The Value of Freedom. But Eva was great. I think one of her
00:02:58.360
very first speeches, standing ovation. Really amazing. And some really good questions and some
00:03:05.000
probing questions. And it really opened up our minds to some of the things we're going to deal
00:03:09.040
with when we get our independence. Now, when it came to the people that were there last night,
00:03:14.280
I think a lot of the people who showed up to get their petitions probably had to be turned away.
00:03:18.000
There were that many people. And we're sorry about that. If you're in Southeast Calgary,
00:03:23.900
and you were at the Queensland Community Center last night and couldn't sign the petition,
00:03:28.340
there will be some signings. One today from 2.30 to 5 o'clock. Okay, so this is January the 11th.
00:03:34.420
So if you're watching this after, you're not going to be able to do that one. But there is also
00:03:38.420
one coming up on January 14th, 7.30 until 9.30 at the Queensland Community Center, 649 Queensland
00:03:45.080
Drive. And more of these are being set up around the province. There are plenty of places to see
00:03:50.780
these and go out and be part of an event and sign the petition. So we'll be telling you about those.
00:03:56.580
As a matter of fact, we can go over to Andy here who sent me this. This is great, Andy. I love how you did
00:04:01.740
this. Real simple. Sign, sign, sign. Stay Free Alberta Citizens Initiative petition
00:04:07.020
at the Excalibur Building, 1601 15th Avenue, east of the Didsbury Courthouse. Look for the Alberta
00:04:13.600
flags and look when they're doing these. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 to 7, Saturday 10 to 3. So
00:04:19.420
lots of opportunity for you to sign up in the Didsbury area. And you know, if you can't find a
00:04:25.300
petition in Calgary, just drive to Didsbury. Beautiful drive just southwest of Calgary.
00:04:30.360
Now, how do you sign? Well, let's go over to the Stay Free Alberta website. They've added
00:04:36.460
something this week that you need to be aware of. First off, how to sign the petition. Okay,
00:04:41.720
we'll tell you where you can do that as well. Become a canvasser. And we heard last night how
00:04:46.300
important it is for you to donate. They need money for this plan. Here's what I heard last night a
00:04:52.420
number of times. I said it myself as a matter of fact. I said this is a once-in-a-lifetime
00:04:58.520
opportunity. When we have the referendum question in the fall, when will it happen again? If you
00:05:09.060
look back at the last time there was a referendum on a province leaving Canada, that would have been
00:05:13.680
Quebec. It was 30 years ago and they haven't had one since. So this is a once-in-a-lifetime
00:05:19.780
opportunity, certainly for somebody like myself, unless I live to be 92 years old, okay, which I hope I
00:05:26.640
do, but I may never get this opportunity again and neither will you. So go over and donate. Let's
00:05:33.220
bring this thing home. Go out there and volunteer. Become a canvasser. And you can also, down here as
00:05:38.420
you can see, request to sign the petition. And it tells you all this information again at
00:05:43.100
stayfreealberta.com. All the information is available here. Now, here are some places where you can sign.
00:05:50.600
Keep in mind that a lot of these places, I'll put a link in the description so you can go directly to
00:05:55.300
this. But a lot of these places you're seeing here, Red Deer, Vulcan. There's the one from the
00:06:01.160
Queensland Community Center, Fort McMurray, Bentley, also Donalda, Eckville. All of these places are
00:06:08.660
having events. They're not just petition signing places, although some of them may be that. So get
00:06:14.660
out to an event. Trust me, you're going to feel better. You're going to feel excited. You'll probably
00:06:19.020
want to volunteer and donate if you go out to an event. Because last night, I'm through the roof
00:06:24.520
at what happened last night at this event. And the wonderful thing about it was I got to meet
00:06:31.000
so many of you last night. So many of you came up, shook my hand. My hand is sore from shaking so many
00:06:37.780
hands last night. So many nice people. And before I spoke, because I was the emcee, sort of, I guess,
00:06:44.620
host of the event last night, I said to the people, you know, you come out to events like that. And I've
00:06:50.820
done a lot of public speaking in the past, but you always are a little bit tentative. You're always a
00:06:55.080
little bit nervous. But I knew last night I was in a room with three to four hundred people who were
00:07:00.200
my friends last night. And that's the way I felt. It was so good. So a wonderful night last night. Get
00:07:05.840
out, sign the petition and attend an event. Now, what I want to do here now is just show you some of the
00:07:11.680
things that have been coming into me. Okay. Got this sent from Walter. This is Highway 63,
00:07:17.460
Fort McMurray. Thanks for sending in the picture. This is the kind of stuff I'm looking for. Again,
00:07:21.760
the email address, johnboltonab at gmail.com. Here's one obviously taken a little while ago,
00:07:29.300
but I love this. I've got the Freedom with the Alberta flag on there as well. Obviously,
00:07:35.640
a worked trailer. I got this sent in by Weldon. Okay. And that first one was sent in by Weldon.
00:07:41.540
He sent this one in as well. Okay. Every circus has a carny and the liberals are a circus of clowns.
00:07:47.900
Interesting. You know, I have a saying, liberals are like slinkies, good for nothing,
00:07:52.760
but they're a lot of fun to push downstairs. Okay. Now, listen, I would never do that. I would
00:08:00.780
never, I would never push a slinky downstairs. Okay. And I got this from Dale, I think, and his wife.
00:08:08.180
Now, this is Al Burton. Last night at the event at the Queensland Community Center here in Southeast
00:08:15.020
Calgary, I met Al for the very first time. And he sent this to me. This is the kind of stuff I'm
00:08:18.860
looking for. If you can do this, I'd love to hear from you. Hey, fellow Albertans. Here we are in
00:08:25.360
front of our Alberta flags on our cars, on our pole, on our chest. We're proud Albertans and we fly it
00:08:35.320
proudly. We'll see you all soon. There it's flapping. Yay.
00:08:41.320
Thanks to Al and his wife for putting that video together. Again, johnboltonab at gmail.com.
00:08:47.260
Keep them coming. I love seeing those things. I'd like to feature more of them on upcoming
00:08:51.840
independence calendars. At the event last night, it was a little bit different than other events
00:08:58.460
I've been to. Of course, you get speeches and then you get a question and answer, but there were less
00:09:03.580
speech and more questions last night. And with the three panelists up there sitting behind a table,
00:09:09.700
answering the questions, we got a lot done last night. And what they wanted to focus on
00:09:14.300
were probably four things that are always brought up when it comes to the independence movement. And
00:09:20.200
that would be treaties. That would be Alberta is landlocked. That would be Canada pension plan.
00:09:26.520
And Eva Chipiak spoke about what happens the day after we vote in favor of independence after a
00:09:32.980
referendum. And I know you have people asking you these questions as well. So I put this together.
00:09:38.580
Now you see this on your screen. Pick up your phone right now. Scan this QR code because this has
00:09:45.920
Alberta independence facts on here. So if somebody says something about the Canada pension plan or old
00:09:52.640
age security, there's an answer for you just by downloading the document that pops up when you scan
00:09:59.100
this code. If somebody asks you about being landlocked, there is something on here about that question if
00:10:06.000
you get it. And you will have the answers to these questions at your fingertips. And as you look at this
00:10:10.760
document, you will begin to understand all of them and be able to spout them off
00:10:14.580
immediately. So when you meet somebody who might be sitting on the fence when it comes to
00:10:18.220
independence, you will have the answers. So it's just, it was all over and people were scanning it
00:10:24.120
last night. Scan the document. I'll put it up there again for you. Scan this QR code and you can get the
00:10:30.480
document and download it to your phone. Now I did speak with all of the people who were behind the
00:10:36.020
table answering questions last night. I don't want to put them all on here. I don't want this to get
00:10:40.340
too long, but I did speak to Corey Morgan. I asked him a few questions and here's one of them I asked him
00:10:44.900
after the event last night. Advice to people who are trying to convince others to say yes.
00:10:52.060
I guess self-education patients with them realize it's a campaign. Realize people have a strong
00:10:57.240
emotional attachment to the concept of care of it. And you know, you have to be sensitive to that when
00:11:03.300
you try to convince them of things. With enough conversations, enough discussions, people do come
00:11:07.780
along and realize we're just changing an agreement. We're not ending anything. We're just actually
00:11:12.360
beginning something. Actually, I want to steal a quote. I meant to use it tonight from the Quebec
00:11:17.220
campaign, which was fantastic. It was in French and I won't try and say it that way, but the term was
00:11:22.020
yes and it becomes possible. Positive approach. We're making something better, not just moving away
00:11:28.540
from something. Thanks a lot to Corey for doing that and my apologies for the audio. I was part of this
00:11:33.980
event last night. I covered it the best I could. I think the video I did on the event from earlier this
00:11:39.480
morning is great. Card coming up so you can watch it. But I didn't bring my wireless mics along, so
00:11:45.220
that's why the audio was a little bit off. Thanks to Eva and Dennis Kalima as well for talking to me.
00:11:50.240
And thanks to Jeevan Mangat and to Heather Field for inviting me out. I enjoyed it very much.
00:11:56.400
Now, the big event that's coming up next, there's going to be a lot of places where you can sign the
00:12:00.480
petition, but this one is going to be huge. Monday, January 6th, 7 o'clock at the BMO Center
00:12:06.900
here in Calgary. You'll want to be part of this and you're going to have to RSVP. So go over to
00:12:14.460
stayfreealberta.com and do that. I will be at this event. I'm really excited. It is going to be a lot of
00:12:20.480
fun. Now, keep those submissions coming to me. As I told you, johnboltonab at gmail.com. A lot of you
00:12:28.780
are writing your own music or at least having AI help you write your music. And I got this one in from
00:12:34.940
CB Fixall. Apparently, I think it was his son who put this one together. I'm going to put this right
00:12:41.160
at the end of this video to kind of wrap up this version of the independence calendar. This one is
00:12:46.580
called Alberta Rising. Thank you so much for watching. Should be an interesting week for me.
00:12:51.240
I'm going to be out of the country starting Monday for 10 days. I'm going to be on a trip,
00:12:58.400
but I'm going to try to be doing videos from out of the country while I'm gone. But I will be back
00:13:03.960
next Sunday for the next edition of the independence calendar on the 18th of January.
00:13:09.380
Thanks for watching. If you liked the video, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel,
00:13:13.080
ring the bell for notifications, and we'll wrap it up with Alberta Rising. Thanks for watching.
00:13:18.160
They drilled our veins. They drilled our veins. They bled us dry. Black gold rivers under prairie skies.
00:13:30.160
Ottawa's hand always taking more. We fed their feast while we stayed poor. But a storm rolls in,
00:13:46.540
and the wind won't bow. The heart of the West beats harder now. Chains are snapping. Hear that sound.
00:14:03.540
Alberta's rising. Breaking ground. No more taking. No more lies.
