Hi, it's John, and welcome to the Independence Calendar for Sunday, January the 18th.
00:00:10.960
I believe this is Episode 7, and this is the Panama edition.
00:00:16.960
I'm doing this from my hotel room in Panama today, taking a few minutes to do this, because
00:00:22.800
I feel very connected to the independence movement, even being here.
00:00:27.380
I almost feel like I'm missing something, being in my home in Alberta and in Calgary right
00:00:33.780
I'm enjoying myself, I have to say, but I'm looking forward to getting home once again
00:00:39.220
I do have the big blue mug of coffee with me here in Panama.
00:00:42.680
Now, I've had a lot of email coming in, a lot of email.
00:00:47.540
johnboltonab at gmail.com is the email address if you want to send me pictures of flags, videos
00:00:54.560
of flags, if you're doing something for the independence movement, if you've created some
00:01:02.540
And I have received a ton of stuff over the last week.
00:01:09.480
I checked it out this week, so I may be featuring some of your things this week.
00:01:14.880
I cannot respond to all the email I get, but I try to respond to as many as possible.
00:01:22.280
If you've got a flag outside your house, show it to me.
00:01:27.640
And we've got some unusual stuff to look at this week.
00:01:30.580
And what I'm going to do is I'm going to focus on those things because I'm rather limited
00:01:36.540
Generally, I can go from screen to screen and show you different things.
00:01:39.700
Kind of hard to do just with my Apple MacBook here.
00:01:43.540
I do want to say that if you want to get any information regarding the independence movement,
00:01:57.400
We've had some people sending email to me saying,
00:02:02.140
I'm not the type to go out and get signatures, but I sent some money in.
00:02:07.320
If you can do that, you're having a big impact.
00:02:10.320
Money will really help, and it goes directly to the independence movement.
00:02:17.900
But you're making an impact, so thank you so much.
00:02:23.680
You can go out and find out about the events that are going on.
00:02:26.640
And right now, there's more and more people who are allowed to get signatures,
00:02:31.880
I got my credentials while I was here in Panama,
00:02:34.500
so I'm going to have to go back and take care of that.
00:02:36.280
I hope to be setting up a place to sign up signatures in my community
00:02:41.200
in Southeast Calgary very soon, so I'll let you know when that happens.
00:02:44.220
But more and more people are getting those credentials.
00:02:46.140
So if you're somebody who's isolated, you can't get out,
00:02:49.020
we'll be letting you know how you can put your name on a piece of paper
00:02:52.740
to be part of the petition campaign to get a referendum coming.
00:02:57.980
We're hoping, I'm thinking they're trying to get most of the signatures in
00:03:01.300
just before May, because I think we have until May 2nd to get signatures.
00:03:07.640
So what I'm going to focus on here today more than anything
00:03:10.180
is I'm going to focus on what you've been sending me,
00:03:12.980
because, oh my goodness, you've been sending me some fantastic stuff.
00:03:20.120
I've got a submission for you today that comes via the Philippines.
00:03:26.940
And please excuse me, I haven't shaved in a couple of days.
00:03:29.620
I generally shave, but I haven't shaved over the last couple of days.
00:03:38.260
But I do have some very interesting submissions.
00:03:40.800
I've got some art, and I keep them coming again.
00:03:46.740
If you've got a video, you can put it onto iCloud.
00:03:54.280
I want to make sure I can check those videos that they don't have viruses in them.
00:03:58.820
I trust you, but I don't trust what gets sent to me online.
00:04:02.880
Who knows what people are going to do when it comes to this movement,
00:04:06.700
So let's take a look at a few of the things that have been sent this week.
00:04:09.600
Plus, I'm going to have a short segment of an interview I did with Dr. Dennis Modry.
00:04:14.500
Dr. Modry has been part of this movement for a very long time.
00:04:18.320
If you've been at a Stay Free Alberta event, you may have seen the doctor.
00:04:22.720
He's just an incredible spokesperson for the independence movement.
00:04:27.260
I interviewed him earlier this week, and he's just blown away by the numbers of people
00:04:31.940
we've been seeing at these different events around the province.
00:04:36.420
As I said to Dr. Modry, and you'll hear more about in a moment,
00:04:39.860
last Saturday night, I think it began on Saturday the 10th in Calgary,
00:04:50.720
So we'll have that segment for you, just a short segment of that interview.
00:04:54.000
And I'll put a card at the end so you can watch the whole thing.
00:04:57.300
It's very uplifting, what Dr. Modry has to say.
00:05:00.440
So let's take a look at some of the stuff you've been sending me.
00:05:07.420
I'll try to focus on as many as possible, because each week I get more.
00:05:12.000
So right off the bat, Will sent me this epic picture of his Jeep, okay?
00:05:23.700
Sherry sent this one in to me, the Alberta Republic with Giddy Up on it.
00:05:28.700
Sherry sent me this little tiny one that was from her phone.
00:05:31.860
And then she realized later it was a little too small.
00:05:42.860
It's going to be one of the many canvassers signing up people at the BMO Center on January 26th.
00:05:51.500
I don't think I'm going to be doing anything at this one.
00:05:53.740
The last couple of independence get-togethers we've had, we had one on May 3rd, one on October 25th.
00:06:01.080
But I'm excited about going there and maybe just interviewing people and talking to people
00:06:04.700
and finding out their message for people who should join the independence movement.
00:06:14.320
So be sure to be at that event if you want to sign the petition.
00:06:21.320
We're expecting about 6,500 people at that event.
00:06:48.540
And well, thanks to James in Morinville for sending that to me as well.
00:06:51.980
And Stuart has sent me this picture of a big blue mug.
00:06:59.060
C.H. and legendary Wade at a Stay Free Alberta event in Didsbury.
00:07:10.460
He says, Wade, of course, a big-time volunteer, a big-time independent supporter here.
00:07:23.800
Gary sent this with his pickup and sign at Eckville Corner.
00:07:28.060
And here's a picture with the sign with Wade again.
00:07:37.740
But here is Ryan with his canoe with all the Alberta paraphernalia on it.
00:07:45.740
And then we've got Gavin, also known as Pale Pinkish Humanoid, and his flag.
00:08:05.800
This is going full tilt when it comes to the independence movement.
00:08:12.100
Looks like he's got a tornado as well with his Alberta tattoo.
00:08:16.420
Very much appreciate all of these submissions this week.
00:08:28.580
But I get to them before I do the independence calendar on Sundays.
00:08:33.860
Because generally, when I use your stuff, I say thanks so much for the submission.
00:08:41.380
But if you'd like to send something to me, I really would appreciate it.
00:08:44.480
Again, go to stayfreealberta.com if you want to find out anything about this movement.
00:08:50.580
Whether you want to volunteer, you want to become somebody who can take signatures.
00:08:56.960
If you haven't been to one of these things, they are so uplifting.
00:09:01.640
Because we have so many more people showing up to them.
00:09:04.480
And lining up on the street to sign the petition.
00:09:07.820
Now what I want to do is I want to focus on a short segment of an interview I did earlier this week.
00:09:14.920
Dennis, again, as I said at the beginning of this video, is really, really enthused.
00:09:20.800
And here's a part of that interview with Dr. Modry.
00:09:23.140
I am in Panama right now with the big blue mug of coffee, of course.
00:09:28.160
And I'm very, very happy to have back on the channel once again.
00:09:30.860
It's been a while since I've had Dr. Dennis Modry with me.
00:09:34.060
Dennis, it is a pleasure to have you here again today.
00:09:36.340
And I'm really excited about what we're going to talk about.
00:09:42.980
I was out on Saturday last week, the 10th of January.
00:09:51.720
I was asked back in December by Jeevan Mangat if I would come out and do an event.
00:09:59.980
But if I would do an event with him on January 10th, we ended up having Corey Morgan there
00:10:11.960
Heather Field, one of the other organizers of the event, sent me a text message the day
00:10:15.880
before on January the night saying, I think we're going to get slammed.
00:10:19.440
I think we're going to have a lot of people, she said.
00:10:24.880
Then I saw the other events that were happening on Saturday night.
00:10:27.440
And it seems like there is some kind of momentum.
00:10:33.680
There's a momentum growing with this, that people want to be part of this now.
00:10:38.980
And I think it started last Saturday night in a big way.
00:10:43.460
Well, you know, I think you hit the nail on the head, you know, for somebody like myself,
00:10:49.700
who's been involved with this right from the get go, this whole process of educating the
00:10:54.880
public on the rationale and merits of sovereignty.
00:10:57.440
So, you know, going into this, you never really know, you know, what the response is going to be.
00:11:03.900
I mean, we've had, you know, at our educational events previously, we had lots of people come out.
00:11:10.940
But, you know, when the petition started, it was an expectation that we hoped there would be a lot of people.
00:11:20.100
But I didn't think there would be a flood of people.
00:11:23.560
I didn't think that the lineups would go on for kilometers, you know.
00:11:28.640
And this is the kind of thing that we're seeing.
00:11:32.780
Mitch and I were up in Fort McMurray on Saturday.
00:11:35.140
And it, I mean, it went on for hours, for several hours where people were lining up to come in.
00:11:48.500
And for about four hours from about six o'clock till 1030, people were four and a half hours.
00:12:00.660
And my job was to entertain them as they were coming in and just answering questions and that sort of thing.
00:12:09.680
And then last night in Red Deer, and this is the second event in Red Deer.
00:12:25.560
But the thing that's interesting is the enthusiasm and the age range.
00:12:42.120
I mean, you know, this is a grassroots populist movement like Alberta has never seen before.
00:12:51.620
And perhaps never in Canada has there been a movement like this, other than maybe what was going on with the trucker convoy.
00:13:00.000
But I think what's happening here, John, is that sovereignty, the concept of Alberta becoming a sovereign country, cuts across all political stripes.
00:13:14.240
Because it does not matter if you're a union member or you're a schoolteacher or a nurse or you're in the private sector.
00:13:25.380
The economic benefit that people recognize and the cultural benefits, the preservation of your values, I think this is going to be world-changing.
00:13:41.260
I think Alberta is going to be the example for the world of what people can accomplish when they come together.
00:13:52.460
Before I wrap up this independence calendar, a few things to take care of here.
00:13:56.560
I got an email in from the Wildrose Independence Party of Alberta for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake.
00:14:03.260
The Wildrose Independence Party fully aboard with Stay Free Alberta, as we all are these days.
00:14:08.180
And they have told me that it is confirmed that in Innisfail, they'll have three separate signing locations set up for the next four months.
00:14:16.980
One of them is in the business of the person that sent it to me at Harley's Hutch.
00:14:21.100
The other two are Athabasca Coffee and Freaks for Antiques, all located in Innisfail.
00:14:32.240
She said she doesn't have the personality to sign people up, but she pitched in some cash.
00:14:39.620
If you can make a donation, that is doing your part.
00:14:44.160
Danny said he spoke to someone that thought they had already signed up for the petition because they signed up and pledged to sign months ago with Stay Free Alberta, formerly the APP.
00:14:56.400
Now, if you signed up to pledge your signature months ago, you have not signed up for the petition.
00:15:03.560
If you want to get a referendum on independence, you have to officially sign up and make sure you have your ID.
00:15:10.160
And also, I want to say hi to CJ, who also wrote the Senate about Senator Paula Simons.
00:15:18.880
And again, if you want to watch the video on the response to that from the ethics office at the Senate, you can watch my video from this morning.
00:15:29.600
Again, stayfreealberta.com if you're interested in finding out more about the movement.
00:15:37.240
If you'd like to submit something to me, maybe I can have your picture here or a video.
00:15:43.640
I'll see you in the next independence calendar here on the channel.
