Summary

A few days after the independence rally in Edmonton, I m concerned about the independence movement in Alberta. I m not only about the racism and anti-Semitism at the rally, but I m also concerned about what Alberta s new premier, Danielle Smith, is going to do about it.

00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel, 508 AM.
00:00:02.980 It is Cinco de Mayo, May the 5th.
00:00:05.280 I've got my big blue mug of coffee.
00:00:06.960 Hope you're having a great day today.
00:00:10.900 And I am concerned about the independence movement
00:00:13.700 here in Alberta, and I'm gonna tell you about it
00:00:15.900 in a moment.
00:00:17.620 And this is coming just a few days
00:00:19.340 after the independence rally in Edmonton,
00:00:21.080 which I enjoyed greatly the other day.
00:00:22.720 I enjoyed meeting all the people there.
00:00:24.380 There are so many people who want Alberta independence,
00:00:26.720 but I am concerned about it.
00:00:27.900 And I'm gonna tell you about that in just a moment.
00:00:31.120 But first, I wanna just follow up on a couple of things, okay?
00:00:34.380 So yesterday, my videos got close to 90,000 views.
00:00:38.040 It was a video about the independence rally,
00:00:41.120 but it turned into something bigger than that.
00:00:43.360 It was the First Nations groups there
00:00:45.280 who were being anti-Semitic and racist on a microphone.
00:00:49.820 My wife told me this happened.
00:00:52.200 Somebody else can confirm that it happened.
00:00:54.480 I went to the video, which was uploaded yesterday,
00:00:57.480 and I'll tell you where you can go watch it
00:00:59.240 in just a moment.
00:01:00.740 Max, who recorded the audio and video
00:01:03.140 at the rally the other day,
00:01:04.440 had a very nice microphone, directional microphone,
00:01:06.800 and it basically blanked out everything that was said
00:01:09.940 other than what the speakers were saying
00:01:12.100 at the rally the other day.
00:01:13.020 So I was unable to isolate any of these things
00:01:15.480 that were said, which my wife said happened.
00:01:18.300 I believe it happened 100%.
00:01:19.620 She also told me that the media was there
00:01:22.240 with cameras on, the First Nations groups,
00:01:24.480 for the whole thing,
00:01:25.480 and they would have video of this
00:01:27.680 but are saying nothing.
00:01:28.840 Apparently, as well,
00:01:30.260 on the grounds of the Alberta legislature,
00:01:32.200 once a group has the stage
00:01:34.700 which they've booked there,
00:01:36.080 other people cannot use amplification
00:01:38.120 to say anything during that rally,
00:01:42.980 our independence rally.
00:01:44.560 Yet they allowed the First Nations
00:01:45.740 to continue to yell and scream in the microphone.
00:01:48.100 They get the First Nations pass.
00:01:49.520 So if you want to see the video,
00:01:51.460 I was going to go in and get clips of it.
00:01:54.240 I had difficulties yesterday downloading the video.
00:01:57.180 Best thing for you to do,
00:01:58.820 go watch it at freedomcalendar.net.tv.
00:02:02.960 freedomcalendar.net.tv.
00:02:04.520 You can watch the whole thing.
00:02:06.280 About 2,000 people have
00:02:07.540 and subscribe to Max's channel.
00:02:09.260 We appreciate him doing that.
00:02:10.300 I think that's best to do.
00:02:11.420 Give him the views on the whole rally.
00:02:15.380 It's great, good quality,
00:02:17.260 and it sounds terrific as well.
00:02:18.580 So there's a couple of things
00:02:20.720 taken care of right there.
00:02:21.920 Now, I'm not upset.
00:02:24.140 I'm worried about the independence movement
00:02:26.780 here in Alberta.
00:02:29.020 And again, this is just coming off
00:02:30.520 of the rally the other day.
00:02:31.860 Now, this might be some inside baseball
00:02:33.300 for Albertans right now,
00:02:34.660 but Canada's very curious
00:02:37.000 about what's happening here in Alberta.
00:02:38.680 Why am I saying this?
00:02:39.720 Well, if you look here,
00:02:42.320 Daniel Smith today is going to talk
00:02:44.460 to Albertans on the province's path forward
00:02:47.200 with the federal government
00:02:48.480 following a special meeting
00:02:49.820 with the Alberta Government Caucus.
00:02:52.160 She's going to be live streaming this
00:02:53.940 on all of these different platforms.
00:02:56.000 I'm concerned what she's going to say today.
00:02:59.540 She talks about sovereignty
00:03:03.240 within a united Canada,
00:03:04.940 which doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
00:03:07.580 She's walking a fine line.
00:03:11.440 She's got to work with Mark Carney,
00:03:12.740 who I don't think you can work with.
00:03:14.600 He is who he is.
00:03:15.840 He's not going to change.
00:03:17.240 He will tell Daniel Smith anything,
00:03:18.700 but until he ends Bill C-69,
00:03:21.380 ends the tanker ban,
00:03:22.360 ends the plastic ban,
00:03:23.740 ends censorship of oil and gas companies,
00:03:26.140 the nine things she talks about,
00:03:27.260 until he does those things,
00:03:29.900 Daniel Smith should go tell him
00:03:30.900 to take a walk.
00:03:31.600 But I'm concerned what she's going to do.
00:03:34.400 Now, she lowered the threshold for signatures,
00:03:36.640 but that has not passed yet, folks.
00:03:38.700 Carrie Lambert from the Alberta Prosperity Project
00:03:41.520 said that hasn't passed yet.
00:03:43.540 It's still 600,000 signatures right now.
00:03:45.960 It has not been passed to 177,000 signatures.
00:03:48.800 So think of that.
00:03:49.860 So what's she going to do?
00:03:51.440 Meanwhile, she's got the Alberta NDP
00:03:53.520 nipping at her heels.
00:03:55.780 Look at, this is basically what you see.
00:03:57.780 If you go to the X of the Alberta NDP,
00:04:02.920 this is what you'll see on their site.
00:04:04.940 Dozens and dozens of the same thing,
00:04:07.440 other than what they put up over the weekend.
00:04:09.140 They had a leadership review,
00:04:10.380 all that was going on.
00:04:11.540 Daniel Smith is a separatist.
00:04:12.720 Look at this picture.
00:04:15.240 This is where we are.
00:04:16.140 She's got to walk a fine line.
00:04:18.020 She's been called a separatist
00:04:19.120 because she's lowered the threshold,
00:04:20.740 made it easier for people,
00:04:22.800 the citizens' initiative,
00:04:24.040 to go to the government
00:04:24.820 if they've got a grievance.
00:04:25.840 And that means anything.
00:04:27.780 Not just the independence movement.
00:04:30.680 If we have the NDP back in this province,
00:04:32.760 we're screwed, folks.
00:04:34.020 We are screwed.
00:04:34.840 And the other thing the NDP are waiting to do
00:04:36.700 is label her as Donald Trump.
00:04:39.260 Carney did it with Polly F.
00:04:40.520 That helped him.
00:04:41.780 Albanese did it against Peter Dutton,
00:04:43.500 the conservative in Australia.
00:04:45.900 Labor nutcases
00:04:47.220 because Peter Dutton was labeled Donald Trump.
00:04:51.100 If I can find this picture right here,
00:04:53.560 so can the NDP,
00:04:54.280 and they've got pictures of her
00:04:55.500 shaking the hands of Donald Trump,
00:04:56.780 they're going to use this against
00:04:58.180 Danielle Smith in the next election
00:05:00.060 because Trump will still be the president.
00:05:02.880 And for some reason,
00:05:03.700 people think Donald Trump
00:05:04.640 has control over their minds
00:05:06.120 here in Canada.
00:05:07.100 So I'm concerned,
00:05:08.200 what she's going to say today.
00:05:09.280 But this leads me to my real concern is,
00:05:11.840 who is leading the independence movement
00:05:13.900 in Alberta?
00:05:14.400 We have no leader.
00:05:19.600 And it really does concern me.
00:05:25.320 Jeevan Mangat, great guy,
00:05:26.840 Wildrose Independence Party of Alberta.
00:05:28.600 I've had him on my channel,
00:05:29.980 spoken to him a couple of times,
00:05:31.560 helped set up to get together
00:05:33.080 in Edmonton the other day.
00:05:35.060 He's not really leading the movement.
00:05:36.780 One of the leaders,
00:05:38.700 Jeffrey Rath,
00:05:39.540 you may have heard the name,
00:05:40.420 Alberta Lawyer,
00:05:41.300 wears a hat,
00:05:42.900 said he's going to go down
00:05:43.760 to talk to Donald Trump
00:05:45.080 about becoming the 51st state.
00:05:46.900 Here's Jeffrey.
00:05:47.980 We send $70 billion plus a year
00:05:50.520 to Ottawa
00:05:51.100 and get less than $35 billion
00:05:53.360 a year back
00:05:54.660 from the rest of Canada
00:05:57.120 or Confederation as it's called.
00:05:59.080 So imagine the wealth
00:06:00.740 and the prosperity
00:06:01.520 of this province
00:06:02.460 with all of that money
00:06:04.040 remaining in the province,
00:06:05.400 remaining in the provincial economy.
00:06:07.060 I like Mr. Rath.
00:06:08.760 He's a 51st state guy.
00:06:10.500 I would prefer independence
00:06:11.860 for Alberta.
00:06:13.160 Is Mr. Rath
00:06:14.020 interested in being part
00:06:15.320 of the independence movement here?
00:06:17.460 I don't think he's the leader
00:06:18.780 of this.
00:06:19.160 Big voice,
00:06:19.980 probably the biggest voice
00:06:21.480 of all these people.
00:06:22.420 He's been in the news
00:06:23.160 a lot lately.
00:06:24.320 And then we got this guy
00:06:25.280 who pops up.
00:06:26.420 Just left the United
00:06:27.440 Conservative Party.
00:06:28.280 He's pissed off
00:06:28.880 with Daniel Smith
00:06:29.740 and the UCP.
00:06:31.280 Here's Cameron Davies,
00:06:32.440 the head of the Republican Party
00:06:33.880 of Alberta.
00:06:34.380 After decades
00:06:35.780 of attempts
00:06:37.340 at reconciliation
00:06:38.360 with the rest of Canada,
00:06:41.000 now is the time
00:06:41.800 to end the abusive
00:06:43.500 and toxic relationship
00:06:45.400 with Ottawa
00:06:46.140 and the East
00:06:47.320 that we find ourselves in today.
00:06:49.260 Is Cameron Davies
00:06:50.680 the guy that's heading up
00:06:51.900 the independence movement
00:06:52.800 here in Alberta?
00:06:53.500 I don't think so.
00:06:54.620 He says that the Alberta Republicans,
00:06:56.540 unfortunate name by the way,
00:06:57.880 you know what people
00:06:58.340 think immediately.
00:06:59.880 They're the leading movement
00:07:01.020 to hold a binding
00:07:01.680 independence referendum.
00:07:02.500 I don't think Mr. Davies
00:07:03.920 is well known enough
00:07:05.540 to head up this movement.
00:07:07.440 You have to understand,
00:07:08.560 let's go back to 1995
00:07:09.660 in Quebec.
00:07:11.180 A little bit of a history lesson here.
00:07:12.600 I was in Montreal
00:07:14.240 during the big rally
00:07:15.760 in downtown Montreal
00:07:16.760 just before the referendum.
00:07:19.460 But the people heading up
00:07:20.820 the,
00:07:22.520 let's get Quebec
00:07:23.720 out of Canada movement
00:07:24.800 at that point,
00:07:25.840 where Jacques Perizeau,
00:07:27.080 the head of the Parti Québécois
00:07:28.760 and the Premier of the province
00:07:31.440 and Lucien Bouchard,
00:07:33.240 the head of the Bloc Québécois
00:07:34.460 who was the leader
00:07:35.480 of the official opposition
00:07:36.740 in the House of Commons.
00:07:38.880 You're talking huge names here.
00:07:42.000 The equivalents in Alberta
00:07:43.240 would be having
00:07:43.860 Danielle Smith,
00:07:44.760 the Premier
00:07:45.200 and Pierre Polyev
00:07:47.420 heading up
00:07:47.900 the independence movement here.
00:07:49.140 We've got nowhere near that.
00:07:50.860 We've got three people right now
00:07:52.460 who are all working
00:07:53.720 towards some type
00:07:54.840 of Alberta independence,
00:07:56.100 be it 51st State
00:07:57.040 or leaving altogether.
00:07:58.460 We've got Kerry Lambert
00:07:59.760 who's part of the
00:08:00.900 Alberta Prosperity Project
00:08:02.420 but I don't think
00:08:02.980 he's the leader.
00:08:03.660 I think there's an
00:08:04.300 independence party of Alberta.
00:08:05.720 Do you get my point?
00:08:07.460 Who is leading this group?
00:08:09.820 We're going to piss this away.
00:08:11.500 Time's a waste and folks,
00:08:13.720 Nahed Nenshi and the NDP
00:08:14.980 are waiting to pounce.
00:08:16.740 There are people,
00:08:17.700 no doubt,
00:08:18.220 working behind the scenes
00:08:19.220 right now
00:08:19.680 in the rest of Canada
00:08:20.740 to screw us over
00:08:21.980 and our independence movement
00:08:23.200 and we've got no leader.
00:08:25.100 Who's going to step up?
00:08:26.220 Why are these men
00:08:27.700 who are all involved here
00:08:29.220 who I admire
00:08:29.980 not getting together,
00:08:31.640 having some sort of summit,
00:08:33.440 sitting down and saying,
00:08:34.600 who do we know
00:08:35.680 that we can put out
00:08:36.860 in front of this movement
00:08:37.840 to make it work here
00:08:38.880 in Alberta
00:08:39.300 so we can get our independence?
00:08:40.640 That's what I want to know
00:08:41.860 and that's what I'm concerned about.
00:08:43.720 Time's a waste and folks,
00:08:45.580 it'll be interesting to hear
00:08:46.900 what Danielle Smith
00:08:47.880 says later today.
00:08:48.920 Now I just want to
00:08:49.540 bring you over
00:08:50.320 to an article
00:08:50.940 that I came upon this morning.
00:08:52.160 I was going to do this
00:08:53.020 right from the beginning
00:08:54.200 but here's Lorne Gunter,
00:08:55.800 long-time Albertan,
00:08:58.120 writes for the Sun Chain.
00:09:00.060 This is an article
00:09:00.720 from the Edmonton Journal.
00:09:01.980 Gunter,
00:09:02.420 Carney,
00:09:02.820 unlikely to do anything
00:09:04.460 to ease Alberta sovereignty talk.
00:09:06.680 Now Gunter's got
00:09:07.440 a long history here in Alberta,
00:09:09.540 far longer than me
00:09:10.520 and this is what he has to say.
00:09:12.480 But back to the question
00:09:13.600 that has been put to me
00:09:14.680 again and again,
00:09:15.680 are Albertans serious
00:09:16.800 about separation?
00:09:17.700 My answer has been
00:09:19.820 the same each time,
00:09:20.760 yes,
00:09:21.040 but not immediately.
00:09:22.740 There is no separatist
00:09:24.020 movement or party,
00:09:25.220 no credible separatist leader
00:09:26.700 and no particular
00:09:27.700 federal intrusion
00:09:28.780 to spark a prairie fire
00:09:30.180 of independence.
00:09:31.560 Give Albertans
00:09:32.280 a respected separatist leader,
00:09:33.940 a real separatist party
00:09:35.140 and some outrageous
00:09:36.040 federal action
00:09:37.220 and just see
00:09:38.300 where that leads.
00:09:39.880 We've got the
00:09:40.620 outrageous federal action
00:09:41.980 that's been happening
00:09:42.680 for decades here
00:09:43.720 in Canada.
00:09:44.300 We need a leader.
00:09:46.200 That's my concern.
00:09:47.700 I don't want to piss
00:09:48.520 this opportunity away.
00:09:50.040 You don't either.
00:09:50.700 So we need to put pressure
00:09:51.660 on the people
00:09:52.360 who are right now
00:09:53.500 part of this movement,
00:09:54.620 the men I mentioned
00:09:55.520 and have them get together
00:09:57.180 and find someone
00:09:58.220 they know
00:09:59.140 that can lead this movement
00:10:00.580 who has a big name,
00:10:02.320 a big face
