I ride a lot. I have a lot of different bikes and I like to ride my bike. But I have had more

encounters with cars in this community than I have since I've lived in Calgary, which is going on 12

years now. We lived up in Riverbend. I've lived in Dover. We now live in McKenzie Town. And I keep

coming across people who don't check their mirrors when pulling away from curbs. I had that happen to

me today where I live here. A guy just pulled out in his big pickup truck. And, you know, I know how

to ride a bike now. So I watch for these things. And I saw this guy. I saw his taillights on. I saw

him change into drive, which runs through the reverse, which I got to see his reverse lights.

And he just pulled out in front of me. But I moved to the left in advance. So he didn't hit me.

But if it was a young kid or somebody who didn't have as much experience, they could have been hit

by a big pickup truck. That same corner where I live here in Elgin, I've had that happen a number of

times. There was a little white car that almost took me out. And I think it's kind of dangerous in

this area and around McKenzie Town because so many people park on the streets. There's a lot

of blind places when you're coming down streets and things like that. So I just like to ask you,

just be a little more careful. Check those mirrors. Check those blind spots when you're driving.

You know, we've been told to do that when we're driving, watching out for motorcycles. Watch out
