I just finished watching the Liberal Leadership Debate and it was a tough slog. I don't agree with most of the things they said, but it's hard to hear what they have to say when you're not paying attention to what they're talking about.

00:00:00.000 Hi there, it's John and welcome to the channel 818 p.m. on Tuesday, February the 25th.
00:00:05.440 I do not have my big blue mug of coffee too late at night.
00:00:08.480 I do have a mug of water here and I just finished watching the liberal leadership debate.
00:00:14.540 And oh my God, it was tough to get through those two hours.
00:00:18.180 And honestly, I started watching it and about 10 minutes in I turned it off,
00:00:23.780 but I was watching it on YouTube with Juno, Juno TV, I guess you could say,
00:00:27.740 with Candace Malcolm and Kian Bextie. And I went back to it and I watched every minute of it.
00:00:32.700 And it was a tough slog. I have to say it really was.
00:00:35.680 I don't agree with liberals and it's hard to hear what they have to say.
00:00:39.660 But somebody actually tweeted on X, this isn't a debate because it wasn't a debate.
00:00:46.180 What would you call it? And I said, ambient replacement therapy,
00:00:49.520 because I'm glad I didn't have to watch it in an Eastern time zone.
00:00:52.900 I'm in the mountain time zone. I would have been asleep by the end of this thing.
00:00:55.620 So, what did I hear from these four candidates?
00:00:59.920 We had Karina Gould, Frank Bayliss, Christy Freeland, and Mark Carney on stage.
00:01:04.880 What did I hear from them?
00:01:05.780 I heard a lot about bigger government, about more government in my life.
00:01:10.680 I heard more about programs.
00:01:12.580 I heard more about expanding on programs we already have,
00:01:15.400 childcare, dental, things like that.
00:01:17.280 And they all said they wanted to give a tax cut,
00:01:21.580 but if you are going to expand on programs and make government bigger,
00:01:25.700 and Gould's really into that.
00:01:26.940 She's an all-on socialist.
00:01:28.820 This costs money.
00:01:30.640 So, you either have to raise taxes or you have to spend more money,
00:01:33.900 which means more deficits.
00:01:35.500 And we've been running deficits for 10 years.
00:01:37.940 So, I heard a lot about bigger government.
00:01:40.000 And of course, oh my God, the first three or four questions were Trump,
00:01:43.680 Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump.
00:01:44.920 They bashed Trump, bashed Trump, bashed Trump.
00:01:48.100 And then any time they had an opportunity through the two hours,
00:01:52.020 Donald Trump got thrown into the mix over and over again in his oncoming tariffs.
00:01:56.700 So, I heard a lot about that.
00:01:57.660 Now, what I didn't hear about were the things I wanted to hear about.
00:02:01.460 The things that Pierre Polyev has been talking about.
00:02:04.040 People are bashing Polyev so much,
00:02:06.520 but he's been right on point since he became the leader of the Conservative Party on so many issues.
00:02:12.740 Like drugs, the fentanyl issue.
00:02:14.560 They never mentioned it that I remember.
00:02:16.840 Maybe I zoned out for a moment, but I didn't hear it.
00:02:19.880 I didn't hear about crime.
00:02:21.160 Immigration was touched on for a second by Mark Carney,
00:02:24.660 but it wasn't even a topic tonight.
00:02:27.280 I didn't hear anything about borders.
00:02:28.860 I didn't hear about oversized government.
00:02:30.680 I mentioned they wanted bigger government.
00:02:32.400 Our government has grown between 30% and 40% since the Liberals got in in 2015.
00:02:38.800 It's too big.
00:02:40.140 Nobody mentioned it.
00:02:41.040 The dollar exchange.
00:02:42.160 Never heard about that.
00:02:43.260 They all, most of them said at one time or another that, you know,
00:02:46.340 Canadians are not buying America.
00:02:48.100 And I think it was Christy Freeland said,
00:02:49.720 Canadians aren't going south.
00:02:50.880 They can't afford to go south.
00:02:52.920 The dollar is so weak right now.
00:02:55.200 I want to go down south, mountain biking, but I can't.
00:02:57.800 I can't do that.
00:02:58.600 That's 30%, 35% on the dollar.
00:03:01.400 I can't do that.
00:03:02.480 What I didn't hear about really was the cost of living.
00:03:05.840 Of course, they said Canadians are struggling,
00:03:07.980 but they just basically had platitudes.
00:03:09.780 How are you going to get the price of this down?
00:03:11.380 I brought this as a prop,
00:03:12.480 and this is how I judge what it's costing me at the grocery store.
00:03:18.000 It's the economy, stupid.
00:03:19.500 They don't really talk about the economy when it dealt with Canadians.
00:03:22.580 The people have to go out and buy groceries.
00:03:25.360 A couple of years ago, this was $2 a liter for cream.
00:03:29.720 American friends, $2 a liter.
00:03:31.640 It's more than you're spending right now.
00:03:33.960 It's now $4 a liter.
00:03:36.520 How do we get the price of this down?
00:03:38.840 That's what I wanted to know.
00:03:40.000 I heard nothing about the cost of living that really would do anything for me.
00:03:44.000 They talked about climate change.
00:03:45.580 It was the last thing they got into before they wrapped it all up.
00:03:49.440 They're all against the carbon tax,
00:03:52.320 except Gould, who wants to continue with it now,
00:03:54.900 because she's a climate cultist to the nth degree. 1.00
00:03:57.120 I had really no idea until I watched this tonight.
00:03:59.660 The other three have never even heard about the carbon tax, from what I understand.
00:04:03.600 It's like they never even voted on this thing.
00:04:07.220 Carney said, and it's been on this channel many times, it was too low.
00:04:10.180 The other people on this stage all voted to put it up.
00:04:12.320 And from what I understand, it's still going to go up on April 1st.
00:04:15.560 I don't think it's quite been cancelled as of yet.
00:04:18.260 They're depending on their Team Canada rhetoric to pull them through this.
00:04:22.020 And it's working.
00:04:23.980 There are enough stupid people in this country that are going to vote for this party.
00:04:29.340 A number of them said that Paulieff keeps saying Canada is broken.
00:04:33.060 It is broken, folks.
00:04:34.740 And it's broken because of the Liberals.
00:04:36.860 The reason we're in this trouble for Donald Trump, I hate to sound like a broken record,
00:04:41.840 is because of the Liberals.
00:04:43.840 We would not be here right now if we'd have done all the things they say they're going to do now,
00:04:48.340 10 years ago.
00:04:49.280 Building pipelines, getting natural resources out of the ground,
00:04:52.460 building our economy, making jobs.
00:04:54.160 But they all wanted that to die because of climate change.
00:05:00.140 Now, as far as the host goes, Hamathibodeau,
00:05:02.480 she said, well, that was a great debate a number of times after they wrapped up one of their little topics.
00:05:07.940 There wasn't any debate in this at all.
00:05:09.980 She was an awful moderator in this. 1.00
00:05:12.380 You know, as a moderator, I've done it many times.
00:05:14.100 You want to be fair, but you want to ask probing questions, tough questions.
00:05:18.380 So you get some answers.
00:05:20.440 But I don't think she went into this with the right frame of mind.
00:05:24.600 Or she was told to take it easy on them.
00:05:26.660 And I think that's probably the case.
00:05:28.240 Now, as far as each of the candidates go, Carney didn't say much about anything.
00:05:33.860 He just said nothing.
00:05:37.400 He didn't really have answers on anything.
00:05:40.440 We never learned anything about how he'll be a disaster for Canada,
00:05:43.980 how he rallied banks to defund oil and gas in Canada,
00:05:47.780 defended the carbon tax, as I mentioned,
00:05:50.100 how he worked with Trudeau.
00:05:52.120 He never even heard of the guy.
00:05:53.500 And they were all critical of the government over the last 10 years,
00:05:57.940 even though three, you know, a couple of them on stage there were part of it.
00:06:01.560 All of them have supported this government.
00:06:03.680 Freeland was a big part of the disaster we've had over the last 10 years.
00:06:07.760 She seems incapable of understanding how, or that she was even part of it.
00:06:12.160 She doesn't see dead people, but she hears from four-year-olds about complex issues.
00:06:16.660 Apparently, she brought up this thing about this little kid asking about
00:06:19.720 how she can save the world, or Canada, from Donald Trump invading.
00:06:23.460 Apparently, four-year-olds ask this.
00:06:25.500 I think it was years ago when Jimmy Carter was president.
00:06:30.520 I think it was called the Malay speech,
00:06:32.180 and he talked about how he used to chat with his daughter about nuclear war.
00:06:36.040 Well, this is what Freeland says.
00:06:37.900 She has complex discussions with four-year-olds about complex issues.
00:06:41.740 Ghoul, as I mentioned, is a socialist.
00:06:43.700 She hasn't got a chance.
00:06:45.400 I don't think three of them on stage have a chance.
00:06:47.380 Although, I think Bayliss sounded the most reasonable of the four.
00:06:52.400 I think of all four, if there was one person I had to vote for one of them,
00:06:56.820 I would have voted for Bayliss.
00:06:58.180 I think he's the most reasonable person up there.
00:07:00.320 I don't think he's exciting enough.
00:07:02.160 But I think he had some good ideas that the other three didn't have.
00:07:06.520 None of them seem to remember that in some way or another,
00:07:09.960 they've been part of the problem for the last 10 years.
00:07:12.180 And that's what I got out of this.
00:07:14.620 It's really quite sad.
00:07:16.000 It was a joke.
00:07:18.680 Now, the other thing I'd like to mention here,
00:07:20.980 and I think this is something that we can all hang our hats on if we're conservatives and feel good about,
00:07:26.940 I think Pierre Polyev would destroy any of these people in a debate.
00:07:31.980 He will rip them to shreds in a debate.
00:07:35.680 And that's what I'm looking forward to.
00:07:37.380 I almost didn't watch this tonight because I really don't care.
00:07:39.820 I'm concerned about the real election campaign that's coming up and the debate between Polyev and the next leader who will likely be Mark Carney.
00:07:48.120 But Polyev will destroy any of them. 0.91
00:07:50.260 He's that good.
00:07:51.500 So feel good about that.
00:07:52.600 But, you know, watch some of the clips.
00:07:54.440 But nothing of note was really said tonight.
00:07:57.420 It was an absolute joke.
00:07:59.200 There wasn't any debate in it.
00:08:00.560 And it was really disappointing.
00:08:02.160 Thanks so much for watching.
00:08:03.860 I hope you have a great morning.
00:08:05.620 I'm going to put this one up in about six hours.
00:08:07.960 It'll come online.
00:08:09.400 If you like the video, please give me a thumbs up.
00:08:11.220 Subscribe to the channel.
00:08:12.340 Ring the bell for notifications.
00:08:13.460 And I'll see you in the next one.
