00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel. It is 6 a.m., Wednesday, October the 1st. I hope
00:00:08.140 you're having a great start to your day, a great start to your Wednesday morning, a great start
00:00:12.040 to October. Hard to believe we're into October already. I do have my big blue mug of coffee
00:00:17.880 with me this morning. Thank you for being part of the channel. I do appreciate it.
00:00:22.900 And today I have a statement, and I have a question of you. My statement is this. I think
00:00:28.540 we're in the midst of a national unity crisis. Do you think we're in the midst of a national
00:00:34.000 unity crisis right now? Now, where have you heard that phrase before? Well, a lot of you
00:00:38.640 will remember Danielle Smith said this, the premier of Alberta. And I looked back, and
00:00:43.220 it was mid-January, or I think she said this the first time. And it was in regards to Trudeau
00:00:49.200 blocking oil exports from Alberta to get back at Donald Trump for tariffs. She said, under
00:00:54.000 no circumstances. Then she said it when she had a list of nine demands of the next prime
00:00:59.580 minister. We want these things, or we'll have a national unity crisis. I want them within
00:01:05.320 six months. She has given Mark Carney an extension. I think it's a mistake. But national unity crisis.
00:01:12.340 I think we're there right now. And the reason I'm thinking this way is because of a story that
00:01:16.580 broke within the last 24 to 36 hours, Imperial Oil is going to get rid of 900 jobs, most of
00:01:23.720 them where I live here in Calgary. And this is a big deal, folks. These are high-paying
00:01:28.340 jobs in the oil and gas industry. Now, another question I have for you. Do you not think Mark
00:01:33.780 Carney, if this were the automotive industry in Ontario, would have made a comment about
00:01:37.980 this already and already promised a bailout for the automotive industry and a bailout to the
00:01:42.620 people losing their jobs? Do you not believe that would already be happening if it were in Ontario
00:01:47.560 and it were the automotive industry? Of course it would be. But he's not doing this because he hates
00:01:51.700 the oil and gas industry. But 900 jobs are significant. They're very important. And here is
00:01:58.520 Danielle Smith talking about this yesterday. Very disappointing. No one likes to see these kinds
00:02:04.100 of consolidations, especially in our energy sector. I think it reinforces why it is we have to start
00:02:11.320 building more pipelines and increasing production. The industry for the last 10 years has been
00:02:17.560 hampered and hobbled by federal government decisions. The media spinning this into the jobs
00:02:23.240 are being lost because of the low price of oil might have a little bit to do with that. But I think
00:02:28.380 it's got more to do with the hostility towards our oil and gas industry by the federal government.
00:02:32.900 We know there's an interest in investment in oil and gas. We found that out the other day.
00:02:38.260 Canadian pipeline operator TC Energy, one of North America's leading energy infrastructure
00:02:43.540 companies, betting big on America's energy future. The company is planning to invest more than $8.5
00:02:49.920 billion in U.S. projects over the next five years. I think we'll see more of this if things don't
00:02:55.660 change from a national level, just reinforcing the idea that we've already got a national unity crisis
00:03:00.820 here. And then you've got this popping up again, just within the last 24 hours or so.
00:03:06.660 Canada is in such a mess. Donald Trump joking about us becoming the 51st state again.
00:03:12.260 And Canada called me a couple of weeks ago. They want to be part of it.
00:03:17.380 To which I said, well, why don't you just join our country, become 51, become the 51st state,
00:03:23.380 and you get it for free.
00:03:24.480 Do you realize we're getting close to the year anniversary of him saying that for the very first
00:03:29.440 time, which I think happened when Trudeau was at Mar-a-Lago? It was a joke back then,
00:03:34.960 but Trump's been saying it ever since. And he wouldn't be saying it right now if he didn't know
00:03:38.640 Canada had problems. I think we have a national unity crisis, and he wouldn't be saying it if
00:03:44.160 the tariff issue were resolved, and it hasn't been resolved yet. Meanwhile, you got Mark Carney flying
00:03:48.800 all over the world, accomplishing really nothing other than staying away from question period when
00:03:55.120 it comes to Pierre Polyev. He's announced a list of five things so far for nation building projects,
00:04:01.200 which are just recycling old ideas, much like he's recycling trade deals, as you saw recently on CTV
00:04:07.440 with Vashi Kapalas and Anita Anand.
00:04:10.400 Your opposition at this moment in time says that you're essentially conveying something that isn't
00:04:15.520 true. That in Indonesia's case, for example, that deal was actually arrived at in November of 2024,
00:04:20.400 before this Prime Minister took office. That in Mexico, there's not anything really tangible
00:04:24.400 besides an agreement saying that you want to work together more. That even in Europe, SIDA is largely
00:04:30.320 in place, and that there's no sort of proof of what those expanded relationships will actually mean
00:04:36.320 for Canadians. Can you respond to that criticism that basically you're advertising something that
00:04:40.960 isn't isn't fully actually provable? We understand what's going on here, folks. We understand what's
00:04:49.440 happening in the country. The people who are supporting Mark Carney and the Liberals, they don't
00:04:54.480 get it. That's how there's no unity at all. There's division here in a big way in this country. And then we
00:05:00.240 have Mark Carney yesterday. You know what happened yesterday, right? There's Carney addressing indigenous
00:05:05.680 people yesterday, expressing his white guilt, all the while insulting people that look like me. This
00:05:13.280 is disgraceful. I had an indigenous painting installed outside the cabinet room behind us
00:05:21.360 in the West block of Parliament. It's called A Brief History of the Northwest Coast Design by Luke
00:05:28.160 Parnell. And it depicts a painful part of our shared history through 11 wooden panels with images inspired by the
00:05:39.840 design on the bent wood boxes and feast bowls of the Nishka and the Haida. The first few of those panels
00:05:52.560 first with vibrant colors. And then with contact, those colors fade until the middle ones become smothered in
00:06:01.680 white paint, a culture literally whitewashed. You do get what he's implying there, right?
00:06:12.800 How, how can I have unity with a man who would say something like that? How can I have unity with a
00:06:20.560 party, the liberal party that believes that? How can I have unity in this country with millions of
00:06:26.560 people that support a party and a man that believe exactly that? Somebody in his office wrote that.
00:06:32.400 He read it verbatim and he didn't even think about it. That's one of the most disgusting things
00:06:37.120 I've ever heard in my life from a prime minister. Absolutely disgraceful. And here's the thing, folks.
00:06:43.760 It's the next day now. You won't hear anything about this until he comes out and makes the
00:06:47.920 same speech next year. Meanwhile, you and I will dish out $32 billion to these people
00:06:53.920 and they'll be complaining about exactly the same thing next year. Nothing's going to change.
00:06:59.280 National unity, folks. We got a crisis in this country. The next thing will be November 4th.
00:07:04.720 You remember when $10 billion deficits were a lot? Well, that's, that's in the rear view mirror,
00:07:10.480 folks. What was it? $62 billion last year. It could be $100 billion this year. It's just making life
00:07:16.080 miserable for you. And you don't support this. And they think we need to be unified and team
00:07:22.640 Canada. Well, it's all a load of bulls**t, folks, because there's no unity here. We have a national
00:07:28.400 unity crisis. You know, I woke up this morning and I started thinking about a number of these things.
00:07:33.280 And there's others I could talk about today. Yesterday, I tuned out completely. My wife came
00:07:37.600 to me with some politics. I said, I don't even want to talk about it. I thought about ending this channel
00:07:42.400 because I'm so sick and tired of mining for negativity every day. And that's what it is.
00:07:49.120 I mean, that's what people want to see. Yeah. You want to watch the, the puppy and kitten videos
00:07:54.880 every once in a while, but you're more likely to run for fail army, right? Because if it bleeds,
00:07:59.600 it leads folks. Joseph Conrad, the writer, I've mentioned this before said, it's the fascination
00:08:04.720 of the abomination. And that's what this liberal party is. That's what this country is right now.
00:08:09.440 I hate to be so goddamn negative here, but we have a national unity crisis already here right now.
00:08:17.840 You and I see it. And I thought about completely tuning out of politics. And then I remembered a
00:08:22.400 quote from Plato. Let me read it to you. I typed it here into my computer just so I'd get it right.
00:08:27.680 Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber.
00:08:33.040 Ain't it the truth? Do we have a national unity crisis? Let me know. And you know what? I'm going
00:08:40.560 to engage in the comments a little bit more. I don't often do that because it's hard for me to do that.
00:08:48.400 Because it just adds to the negativity. I know you're very positive, a lot of you,
00:08:51.920 and you agree with me. Most people do. But I'm going to engage in the comments a lot more. But what
00:08:56.880 do you think? Do we have a national unity crisis in this country right now? I think we do.
