John reflects on how things have not changed much since Mark Carney became Prime Minister, and how things are still pretty much the same as they were 10 years ago under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and why it feels very familiar.
00:00:00.040Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel. Thursday, June the 5th, 5.44 a.m. I've got my big blue mug of coffee as usual.
00:00:08.480And I wanted to do a video today on what I talked about a little bit, I think maybe yesterday or the day before,
00:00:15.820how a familiarity is starting to seep into my soul. It may be seeping into your soul as well.
00:00:22.340On how things have not changed really at all since Mark Carney became the Prime Minister, new leader, same old party.
00:00:30.000It feels very familiar. It feels like the previous 10 years before the election under Justin Trudeau.
00:00:37.280And what I find fascinating is I'm on X. I don't go on X a lot. I do use it as a source.
00:00:43.980But so many people come across my timeline, and I get inundated with these people who think that the Liberal Party is the best thing that's ever happened,
00:00:52.060and that Mark Carney is the greatest leader in the history of the world ever.
00:00:55.660So I wanted to show you a few of those tweets quickly, and then show you the difference between the perception of how it's going and what is really going on right now.
00:01:07.080Okay, so some tweets and a couple of quick videos.
00:01:09.800So this is the kind of stuff I'm seeing online all the time. I just captured these quickly.
00:01:14.080Body language speaks volume. Got a picture of Daniel Smith, Mark Carney.
00:01:18.060The meek separatist versus the mighty unifier.
00:03:23.420That's the same amount of people as Kelowna.
00:03:26.240With a youth unemployment crisis, why did the government increase the number of temporary work permits this year?
00:03:32.460Mr. Speaker, we take our immigration system very seriously on this side of the aisle.
00:03:45.100As I know, most Canadians, all Canadians do.
00:03:48.440And for that reason, we are strengthening the integrity of our system while maintaining the humanitarian ability that we have in this country.
00:03:59.060Make no mistake, Canada takes its obligations seriously.
00:04:03.320And we are strengthening our asylum system to make it more efficient and more, more efficient and flexible.
00:05:23.860Of course, before the election, headline after headline after headline said that Mark Carney was the best person to deal with Donald Trump when it came to tariffs.
00:05:32.980When it comes to these tariffs, how is it really going?
00:05:40.240Well, and I was going to ask you about the speed of that because as you described it, hobbling along at 25% tariffs, you double that to 50%.
00:05:49.360How long can any company sustain that kind of a tariff increase?
00:05:53.980I mean, Algoma will know the answer with certainty.
00:05:57.180They're going through, as I understand, a number of scenarios to determine what path they will have to go down.
00:06:03.500A lot of it depends on what the supports are going to be from the federal government.
00:06:06.660So they've announced that defense spending will be made with Canadian steel, that Canadian projects will be made with Canadian steel.
00:06:13.640But if it takes six months to get there, there might not be Canadian steel being produced because it's unproducible at a 50% cost increase.
00:06:22.160So, you know, I'm saying that there needs to be an immediate stopgap, I'm saying, within the next 7 to 14 days.
00:06:29.780Carney hints at retaliation regarding this latest threat, which will only hurt Canadians even more.
00:06:35.380However, I don't believe the liberals even want these tariffs to go away.
00:06:40.380I know it's awful to say that, but it helps them.
00:06:43.620It gives the perception that they're being strong, fighting back against the evil Donald Trump.
00:06:49.540That's why you start seeing all these tweets going online about how great things are and Mark Carney is such a wonderful leader.
00:06:55.220When the reality is, how it's really going is, he was elected to solve this problem.
00:07:02.280You know, I talked about Polyev and I talked about Carney way back on March the 21st, way before the election, and this is what I said.
00:07:10.480But the argument is that Mark Carney being in finance will be good in politics, but Pierre Polyev, who's good at politics, can't know anything about finance.
