00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. It is Sunday, July the 5th, 418 AM. I hope
00:00:09.240 you're having a fantastic Sunday, a terrific weekend as well with the big blue mug of coffee.
00:00:14.340 I appreciate you being here. And today I want to talk about inequity. And this is inequity
00:00:21.320 between the West part of Canada and the East. Now, for those of you in the Eastern part
00:00:25.580 of Canada. Stick with me here, folks, because there may be an equity between the West and the
00:00:31.620 East, but in a very sickening way, we're all equal in the end in this. And that's going to
00:00:36.580 be the conclusion today. Stick with me. I think we have a lot in common here. We really do. And
00:00:42.000 that's what I'm going to conclude with today. So what is inequity? Let's just take a look at
00:00:47.500 the definition of inequity. Inequity refers to a lack of fairness, justice, or impartiality.
00:00:53.540 It often highlights systemic imbalances, biases, or unjust circumstances that result in unequal treatment or outcomes for different individuals and groups within a society.
00:01:04.280 So that's inequity. We've got the definition of inequity.
00:01:06.820 So let's talk about the West, and then we'll go to the East.
00:01:11.160 So people out West are very fond of this cartoon right here. I'm going to bring it up full screen.
00:01:16.800 Now, obviously, this was drawn a very long time ago.
00:01:20.780 this is the milch cow and this is the West feeding the cow and this is the East milking the cow. Now
00:01:27.600 I looked it up. This was drawn in 1915. That means that cartoon is 111 years old and things haven't
00:01:37.640 changed in 111 years. It's the same way it is today. Now what am I talking about when I say
00:01:43.760 inequity? Let's talk about two projects. Let's start on the West Coast. It's been in the news a
00:01:48.860 lot. Let's talk about the pipeline, okay? Now, how much is the pipeline going to cost? This from
00:01:57.040 the CBC. Alberta's pitch does note that the pipeline could cost an estimated $35 to $43
00:02:03.100 billion. The estimate is $43 billion. Let's tack on another $10 billion because it's government.
00:02:10.480 It's probably more than that. We'll throw another $10 billion on top of that. So now let's say that 0.98
00:02:15.540 it's $53 billion. Then we've got the Pathways Project for those people who don't know what
00:02:20.060 that is. Alberta has to build a carbon sequestration plant in order to bury carbon
00:02:25.840 dioxide for the most part. So that's a $30 billion project. Oil companies are supposed to
00:02:31.960 pay for that. There'll be more Canadian tax dollars going into that. This project out here 0.90
00:02:37.020 in the West is going to cost probably $70, $80 billion, a lot of it in taxpayers' money. People
00:02:43.120 are saying, why aren't oil companies paying for the pipeline? Well, because they don't want to
00:02:47.320 invest in a pipeline because of the regulations the liberals have put in place doesn't make it
00:02:51.720 profitable for them to do so. That tells you a lot, doesn't it? Now, about a month ago, David
00:02:57.180 Eby was dead set against having a pipeline built. He doesn't want a pipeline out here,
00:03:03.000 but now all of a sudden he's on board with this. Here's an article from the Globe and Mail. It's
00:03:07.260 behind a paywall, but Carney Eby strike multi-billion dollar major project deal ahead
00:03:12.100 of West Coast Pipeline announcement, David Eby has been paid off. And folks, it's probably your
00:03:17.800 money, right? More money on top of the money. Let's say it's $70 billion for this West Coast
00:03:23.380 Pipeline. Okay, my cat blue, keep moving along here, buddy. Get my tail through there. Okay.
00:03:29.000 And then there's these people. So now we've got the BC First Nations wanting details,
00:03:34.320 consultations on the $44 billion proposed oil pipeline to Roberts Bank. I'm just going to read
00:03:40.460 you a single paragraph from this story, link in the description. The main message is that we need
00:03:45.560 meaningful engagement and consultation in alignment with our constitutionally protected
00:03:50.780 treaty rights, Dawson First Nation Executive Counselor Valerie Cross told Post Media. So
00:03:56.080 I've put in red here, meaningful engagement and consultation. So what does this mean?
00:04:01.300 It means the First Nations are going to get paid off too. They're going to get paid off with your 0.75
00:04:05.860 money. They want meaningful engagement and consultation because they say they own all the
00:04:11.980 land. So let's take a look at what's going on here and everything Alberta has had to do. And by the
00:04:17.020 way, if you're East of Alberta, this is about you too. I'm getting to your inequity in just a moment.
00:04:22.800 And in the end, we will all be equal in this. We're together. All right. So what has had to
00:04:28.720 happen here? Alberta has had to sign a memorandum of understanding with Kearney, not getting into
00:04:33.660 the details, all the hoops in order to get to this point. Had to pay off David Eby, who was against
00:04:38.980 the pipeline. But once the money starts flowing, folks, people, they'll do anything. Same thing
00:04:43.360 with the First Nations. And let's talk about the environmental groups who are likely to get in the
00:04:46.820 way, likely to be paid off with your money as well. They're not in favor of the pipeline. Remember,
00:04:51.340 the pipeline is going south because they've not ended the tanker ban, because the people up in
00:04:56.460 the north part of British Columbia don't want the tankers coming in there. But it's amazing how when
00:05:00.900 the money starts flowing, environmentalists, they really don't care much about the environment
00:05:04.680 because those tankers are going to have to be out there with all of that oil on the ocean
00:05:07.880 for two days longer, as Pierre Polyev has pointed out, because they took the southern route.
00:05:13.400 Now let's talk about inequity out in the east because you've got your major project as well.
00:05:19.360 And there's a lot of people out east who own land, who are upset about this. They're not
00:05:23.760 being consulted. You've got this article here, what Canada could do with the $90 billion it's
00:05:28.860 blowing on high-speed rail. Boy, the money's really piling up, isn't it? There are thousands
00:05:35.100 of people in Ontario and Quebec pissed off about Alto. Alto is the company that's building the
00:05:42.080 high-speed rail line out east. Now, what is this going to do for people between Toronto and Ottawa?
00:05:47.900 It's going to save them two hours. It's not much of a benefit to the country like the oil pipeline,
00:05:52.520 but think of all the hoops that Alberta's had to jump through just to get this one pipeline that
00:05:57.860 would benefit the whole country think of all those people out east and people who may live
00:06:02.480 in your neighborhood who are pissed off because the government isn't consulting with them
00:06:06.460 and they're going to put a high-speed rail line right through their property the farmers community
00:06:11.860 groups and politicians from across the region gathered on parliament hill today to voice their
00:06:16.460 opposition to the proposed high-speed rail project ctv's dylan dyson was on the hill speaking to those
00:06:22.280 who were there and joins us in studio with more dylan yes the fan protesters arrived by bus
00:06:27.560 car and foot to say the construction of high-speed rail would devastate their communities.
00:06:32.740 Many protesters are saying this isn't just an issue in their backyards but in the backyards
00:06:36.880 of thousands of residents. As hundreds filled Parliament Hill Wednesday, Dave McEvoy was the
00:06:46.880 locomotive for a train of protesters from Stone Mills, Ontario. I have a small farm, 62 acres.
00:06:55.240 If it's not directly affected, it may be affected by the secondary impacts, local roads being cut off.
00:07:03.640 We will lose our access to our emergency services.
00:07:08.260 They live in the corridor north of the St. Lawrence Seaway where Alto could potentially build its high-speed rail project.
00:07:15.300 Alto says the high-speed line would take travelers between Ottawa and Toronto in just two hours.
00:07:21.660 It saved me a whole two hours on the train, even though that's going to cost you more than it ever
00:07:27.040 cost you before. And it's going to cost you for years on your taxes. Who is consulting them? It's
00:07:32.200 their land. It's going to disrupt their lives. Now you've got all of these different groups out
00:07:39.260 here, the province of British Columbia, you've got native groups, probably environmental groups that
00:07:45.080 are going to get paid off. Well, that's not happening out in Ontario and Quebec. No, that's
00:07:48.840 not happening. Liberal-friendly companies are going to get paid off out there. The finance 0.88
00:07:53.700 minister's wife is on the alto board getting a large salary on this. They're going to get paid
00:07:58.500 off as well with your money. How much is this going to cost, by the way? Let's go over to the
00:08:02.800 Canadian Taxpayer Federation website. High-speed rail project, just an expensive fairy tale. This
00:08:08.420 was written just a couple of months ago. Seven stops, not complete until 2043, and a bill up to
00:08:13.860 $90 billion. That's Ottawa's plan for high-speed rail between Toronto and Quebec. Former Prime
00:08:18.960 Minister Justin Trudeau announced in early 2025 that Canada is getting high-speed rail. They're
00:08:23.900 doing this for Justin, folks. That should piss you off as well. The government claims the project
00:08:28.140 will create up to 51,000 jobs during its construction and boost Canadian GDP by up to
00:08:33.220 $35 billion annually. The project will only become profitable after $53 billion in subsidies. That
00:08:38.880 means taxpayer money, your money, and 44 years of operation. According to research from McGill
00:08:45.720 University, that $53 billion is close to how much Ottawa takes from taxpayers through the GST in a
00:08:52.060 year. That's a money pit, not an investment. Now, let's start counting the money here.
00:09:00.980 So I always said when I was on the air, never do math because you'll always screw it up. So
00:09:06.380 what we've got, $43 billion for the pipeline. Let's tack on another $10 billion because it's
00:09:12.860 government, likely more than that. We've got the Pathways Project. You're going to have to pay into
00:09:17.200 tens of billions of dollars likely on that. Let's make it an even $70 billion for the West Coast
00:09:22.300 pipeline. You've got BC that's going to get some of Alberta's money, taxpayers' dollars. Let's make
00:09:27.800 it an $80 billion pipeline out West. Okay. Then you've got a $90 billion railway line out there
00:09:34.920 that's going to cost probably $53 billion in taxpayers' money out there. What are we up to,
00:09:40.320 $140, maybe $150 billion when it's all over? Likely more again, because it's government and
00:09:46.280 you're on the hook. And that's where we're equal, folks, between the East and the West. We're all
00:09:50.780 paying for this. Where does all this money come from? We don't have it. The country's broke.
00:09:58.700 But people bought Carney's line hook, line, and sinker during the election.
00:10:04.280 I have a simple rule. Spend less, invest more. A government that spends less so that Canada can
00:10:09.960 invest more. To spend less and invest more. Depends moins, invest plus. I can go back a year
00:10:19.860 when he first started saying that and point out how much of a joke it is. The investment part of
00:10:25.720 that phrase is spending. You know, the government now has two sets of books. They're cooking the
00:10:30.940 books. And in the end, we're all equal in this. We're all going to pay for this. And here's the
00:10:35.760 thing. The West Coast Pipeline doesn't even exist. They announced nothing the other day.
00:10:41.120 But if it ever does exist, it's going to come at the expense of you and me, the taxpayers in this
00:10:46.840 country. Meanwhile, you've got a high-speed rail line out there that isn't going to be much benefit
00:10:51.540 to the country, that's going to benefit the corridor that votes mostly liberal. It's going
00:10:56.120 to cost $90 billion so people can save a couple of hours. That's it. There's an equity between
00:11:03.360 the East and the West, the milch cow. You can look at that cartoon again. We feed the cow, 0.74
00:11:11.100 the East milks the cow, but in the end, we're all going to pay. Thanks very much for watching.
