00:00:00.000Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel Tuesday, June the 30th.
00:00:06.960Hope you're having a great day today with the big blue mug of coffee and a big news
00:00:12.800yesterday coming out regarding the Alberta independence movement and the petitions that
00:00:18.400were presented, was it May the 4th at Elections Alberta in Edmonton finally being counted.
00:00:25.380And I wanted to get comments from the person you see on the screen right here who was there
00:00:29.980presenting those petitions on that day we are going to finally see them counted mitch and i
00:00:35.680wanted to get your thoughts on what's happened here um the court of appeals allows counting of
00:00:41.500alberta separatist petition to go ahead according to an article in the calgary sun what were your
00:00:47.380thoughts when you heard this was happening and i guess congratulations going out to jeff rath and
00:00:52.080his team for doing this well yeah and thank you very much we're happy about it i mean it's the
00:00:57.360first step. I mean, it's the first step before the next step. And the next step is what this
00:01:01.160whole process is all about, right? The next step is you have to turn it into the justice
00:01:05.180minister as an official petition. And then they have to ask, and then it forces them to trigger
00:01:09.540the question. Or a question. Or a question like the question that we presented. Yeah, so it was
00:01:15.940Justice Woolley stressed that the courts have yet to weigh in on the constitutionality of the
00:01:19.960Citizens Initiative Act. Because of that, she opted against holding an expedited hearing on
00:01:23.960larger questions the issue is raised by leonard's decision the original ruling we had regarding the
00:01:29.600petition including the constitutionality of the citizens initiative act are complicated and will
00:01:34.560not be best served by being addressed on an expedited basis she said so that would move us
00:01:39.760to the next part of this where we could get the question you want on the ballot in the fall are
00:01:43.800they just trying to run out the clock on us here we're never going to see this happen before
00:01:47.620october the 19th well i don't think we're going to see it happen before october 19th yeah yeah
00:01:52.700Let's just be clear. I mean, it's funny that they would actually go. This will make Alberta ungovernable. We all understand that, right? We all understand that if we have to consult for every decision that we make, that's going to make Alberta ungovernable. They totally understand that.
00:02:09.320So they're going to, I don't think they can allow it, actually, to tell you the truth.
00:03:38.760So, you know what, I think it's all good.
00:03:41.600It's amazing to me, though, John, actually, really, this whole process and how it's gone and how they keep kicking the can down the road and kicking the can down the road.
00:03:49.580And like Justice Feesby said, there are questions that the people should not be allowed to ask.
00:03:56.000Yeah. So let me ask you this. I mean, from the other side, they're saying that, well, what did Nancy say? It's exactly what he had to say. I know that you really don't give a damn what Nancy says, but others are saying this as well. The separatists had everything they needed to forge the signatures on that petition. They're bringing up the Centurion Project again.
00:04:15.720And the Athabasca Chippewa Nation said, we know that people gathering petition signatures were being actively pushed in the direction of the Centurion Project.
00:04:23.940So this is the narrative, again, we're hearing today after we get an OK to count these signatures.
00:04:29.080And, you know, that's I think that's an insult to the people who were out there for four months.
00:04:33.280Well, you know, the left doesn't have to tell the truth.
