John Bolton - More ALBERTA Energy Investment LOST - At Least We Have An M.O.U.

00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel Friday, March the 6th. I hope you're having a great start

00:00:07.960 to your Friday, 2.52 a.m. Looking forward to the weekend, no doubt, as am I, with the big blue mug

00:00:14.080 of coffee. Thank you very much. Getting very close to 50,000 subscribers on this channel. I can't

00:00:19.740 believe it. And you'd really help me out if you would click on subscribe. I would love to get

00:00:24.600 there. It would be quite an accomplishment. Thank you very much. So, I want to talk to you about

00:00:30.800 energy today. As I sit in one of the places that was blessed with so much energy, right here in

00:00:37.940 Alberta. It's stunning. It's like the oil and gas was put in Alberta in a big giant swath all the way

00:00:44.500 from north to south. Here's a map of it, just to give you an idea of how lucky we are here. I want

00:00:50.680 to talk to you about energy and I want to remind you about what Mark Carney said about Canada

00:00:55.240 when it comes to energy. Today, I'm announcing a comprehensive new approach to make Canada the

00:01:03.040 world's leading energy superpower. Building Canada into an energy superpower. Let me start with our

00:01:09.680 position as an energy superpower. Let's look at Canada's position as an energy superpower.

00:01:15.140 Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada, wants us to be an energy superpower. He said it over and

00:01:21.440 over again during the election campaign last year. I don't think he's said it much since he was elected

00:01:26.100 on April the 28th. I'll have to go back and look. But he wants us to be an energy superpower. But we know

00:01:31.540 what he really wants. He wants us to be a clean energy superpower because the man is Mr. Net Zero.

00:01:37.080 If he wanted us to be an energy superpower, he'd get the government out of the way.

00:01:41.760 But he won't do that. Here's the latest story, folks. This is brand new. Hot off the presses,

00:01:48.240 folks. Canadian Natural defers oil sands mine expansion, citing regulatory uncertainty. No way.

00:01:56.220 So let's read a little bit of this story. I'm going to keep it short. Canadian Natural Resources

00:02:00.380 Limited is deferring an oil sands mine expansion as it waits for Ottawa to finalize environmental

00:02:06.060 policies. The Calgary-based oil and gas giant had been planning to spend about $150 million this year

00:02:12.480 on early engineering and designed to work for its $8.25 billion Jack Pine mine expansion north of Fort

00:02:20.480 McMurray, Alberta. President Scott Stott said Thursday. But it's putting that spending on hold

00:02:25.620 until it gets more clarity around carbon pricing and methane emissions rules, which the company says

00:02:32.660 have created an economic burden for long-term growth investments. No kidding. For those of you who live

00:02:40.060 outside of Alberta and don't know what actually happens in Alberta and really don't know what's

00:02:45.320 going on in your country, I'll talk about that in just a moment. Here's Danielle Smith reminding you

00:02:50.440 about how much investment has been lost because of government, liberal government. Well, I can tell

00:02:57.360 you that we've had at least $175 billion worth of projects that have been cancelled because of the

00:03:03.360 actions of the federal government. You look at pipelines in particular, we had $176 billion worth

00:03:11.340 of proposed projects that got cancelled because of the uncertainty created by various government laws.

00:03:16.680 This onslaught of anti-energy, anti-agriculture, and anti-resource development policies have scared

00:03:22.940 away global investments to the tune of a half a trillion dollars. There are some people who would

00:03:29.100 claim that what Danielle Smith is saying right there is economic suicide, but not Canada, folks.

00:03:35.100 This is the modus operandi. But Mark Carney, of course, is saying we're going to become an energy

00:03:40.420 superpower. You know, there used to be a time when we would find money under the ground and we would dig it

00:03:45.760 up. But we don't do that anymore. Kind of stupid, isn't it? Remind me, Danielle, how much money has

00:03:51.620 Alberta got under the ground? We literally live on top of more than a trillion barrels of oil and more

00:03:57.800 than a quadrillion cubic feet of natural gas. These oil and gas resources represent an astounding tens

00:04:04.160 of trillions of dollars in potential wealth for our country. Just think how much better Canada would be

00:04:09.320 and my province of Alberta if we could get the trillions of dollars that are underground literally

00:04:14.700 beneath my feet where I sit here in southeast Calgary. But no, we can't do that because the

00:04:20.460 liberals keep getting away. The liberals and their voters, you know, the gray hairs, the geriatrics, 1.00

00:04:25.240 the baby boomers who vote against their grandchildren and their grandchildren's future.

00:04:30.020 Here's a story just from yesterday that has a liberal tie-in and not a good one, I might add.

00:04:34.460 Germany needs to see it to believe it when it comes to Canada boosting gas exports, says Polyev,

00:04:40.800 who is looking like a statesman, like a prime minister in waiting as he goes through Europe

00:04:46.100 right now. And he's in Germany. The German government's posture is that they'll see it

00:04:50.360 to believe it when it comes to Canada's promises to build the infrastructure necessary to boost natural

00:04:55.960 gas exports to Europe, said Conservative leader Pierre Polyev. It was a bit ironic. I didn't have to do

00:05:02.400 any sales job, he said. When can you have it here is the question you get from the Germans when pitched 0.98

00:05:08.140 Canadian gas. But Polyev said he sensed uncertainty from the Germans when asked if they believe Canada

00:05:14.360 can build additional facilities to export larger quantities of its natural gas faster. Why is that,

00:05:20.980 would you think? Months after the war began, the war in Russia, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said

00:05:26.760 in the company of then German Chancellor Olaf Scholz that there has never been a strong business case

00:05:33.000 for developing Canada's LNG industry. Did you hear about the trillions of dollars beneath my feet?

00:05:38.820 Here's Polyev in Germany just yesterday. So what I'm proposing to you, our German friends today,

00:05:43.820 are two things. First of all, a supply agreement for natural gas that will require our government

00:05:50.040 rapidly approve liquefaction facilities and pipelines to supply you with a predictable,

00:05:55.960 low-cost source of natural gas into the future. Polyev's plan isn't rocket science, folks. There's

00:06:01.420 nothing complex about it. It's just get the damn government out of the way, but the liberals won't 0.99

00:06:06.000 do it, which takes us back. We're going back to the beginning here, to the original story we had 0.99

00:06:11.180 from City News on Canadian Natural and the regulatory uncertainty that's pausing an $8.25 billion

00:06:18.600 expansion here in Alberta. But there's hope on the horizon, folks. There's hope out there.

00:06:23.620 Alberta and Ottawa signed a Memorandum of Understanding late last year covering a host of

00:06:28.120 energy matters. In it, the two governments said they aim to reach agreements around industrial

00:06:33.040 carbon pricing and methane by April 1st. Lo and behold, it's the same date the carbon price used to

00:06:38.680 go up every year. April Fool's Day. We have to be fools to believe anything's going to get done here.

00:06:44.820 What's going to get done is industrial carbon tax is going to go up six times, and we're going to 0.91

00:06:50.200 have to build a $10 billion plant in order to put carbon dioxide in the ground to achieve 0.99

00:06:55.420 absolutely nothing, which leads us to stupidity like this. How does this make any sense, liberal 1.00

00:07:04.900 voters? Look at it for a moment. Let it soak in.

00:07:12.220 You know, Mark Carney stood up during the election campaign in front of podium after podium that said

00:07:17.460 one of two things, either build Canada strong or building Canada strong, build Canada strong,

00:07:24.060 building Canada strong, build Canada strong, building Canada strong, one after the other,

00:07:27.900 speech after speech after speech after speech. I don't think he's built a damn thing.

00:07:33.020 And three days from now, it's his first anniversary being prime minister.

00:07:38.040 And you know what's really sad? This. Liberals reach 49% voter support and the party's biggest lead

00:07:45.260 in 10 years, according to a Leger poll. The poll also showed 59% of respondents are satisfied

00:07:52.360 with the performance of Prime Minister Mark Carney. And I ask, why?

00:07:58.820 But when it comes to being an energy superpower, at least we've got a memorandum of understanding

00:08:07.280 here in Alberta. If you like the video, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel,

00:08:13.180 ring the bell for notifications. I'll see you in the next one.
