Summary
If Premier Danielle Smith thinks she s making a good case for Alberta to stay within Canada, she's making a damn poor argument. Today I m going to make the case that, despite the fact that she continues to talk about a sovereign Alberta within a united Canada, here she is, back in mid-March saying exactly that.

If Premier Danielle Smith thinks she's making a good case for Alberta to stay within Canada,

Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel. 410 a.m. Monday, December the 1st. Welcome to December. I
00:00:17.980
hope you're having a great start to your Monday morning. I've got my big blue mug of coffee with
00:00:22.980
me. I just refreshed it. It's tasting very sweet this morning. I just checked the channel.
00:00:27.400
I hit 42,000 subscribers. In fact, it's 42,003. So thank you so much. Onward to 43,000. If you
00:00:37.140
haven't subscribed to the channel and many of you who watch every day haven't done that,
00:00:40.720
please click on subscribe. I would really appreciate it. Boy, would I love to make it
00:00:44.540
to 50,000. So today I'm going to make the case that Danielle Smith, despite the fact that she
00:00:50.620
continues to talk about a sovereign Alberta within a united Canada, here she is,
00:00:57.400
back in mid-March saying exactly that. I have always said I support a sovereign Alberta within
00:01:02.780
a united Canada. I'm going to make the case that Premier Danielle Smith is one of the greatest
00:01:08.880
voices for independence in Alberta, whether she knows it or not. And she does it in everything
00:01:14.140
she says. I'm going to go back to her keynote address from the weekend in just a moment to play
00:01:20.680
some clips here that proves my point. But she started doing this earlier this year. In fact,
00:01:25.600
if we go back to October 24th, she did it when she announced Bill 1.
00:01:30.280
As we return to the legislature, our government is focused on delivering the clear mandate that
00:01:34.500
Albertans gave us in 2023 to stand up for this province, protect our freedoms, and chart our
00:01:40.040
own path forward. That's why we are taking the next step to defend Alberta's constitutional rights
00:01:45.260
through Bill 1, the International Agreements Act. Ottawa can sign international agreements with
00:01:50.860
other countries. That's their right. But this legislation, it makes it clear that those
00:01:55.100
agreements will only become enforceable in Alberta if implemented under provincial legislation. We have
00:02:01.340
made our position clear. Work with us and we'll get things done. Overstep and Alberta will stand its
00:02:07.240
ground. When she made that announcement back in October, I saw that. I didn't think what I thought
00:02:12.880
this morning when I watched it again. She was advancing Alberta independence on her own. And she's been
00:02:18.220
doing it ever since. In a way, she was, if I can use this word, separating Alberta from the rest of
00:02:25.380
the country and Ottawa. And when I watched her keynote address at the annual general meeting for the United
00:02:31.560
Conservative Party on the weekend, I thought, oh my God, I've got to do a video on this. I inspired myself
00:02:36.600
with a tweet I sent out after I watched it. And here's my tweet. On Danielle Smith, the things she does
00:02:43.840
well on are the things Alberta does independently or in spite of Ottawa, the things Danielle Smith does
00:02:50.180
poor on are the things where we have to endure federal meddling. Independence versus meddling.
00:02:56.500
What would you want? And what I've done here is I went through her speech this morning. I hope you'll
00:03:02.700
appreciate this. Just after two o'clock, I'm sitting down here cutting up a 35-minute speech into about
00:03:08.780
five and a half minutes. It takes time to do this. But what I'm going to show you here is all the bits and
00:03:12.680
pieces where she is advancing the independence movement as we separate more from Canada.
00:03:19.180
Whether she knows it or not, she's advancing the cause. If you're somebody sitting on the fence,
00:03:24.260
listen to her words here. Because these things, many of them are federal jurisdiction where Alberta's
00:03:30.460
going it alone or where other provinces would never touch this stuff. Alberta is going it alone.
00:03:37.300
Premier Danielle Smith and her case for Alberta independence.
00:03:41.820
We need an immigration policy that puts Albertans first. And that is why our government will be
00:03:48.400
taking primary control over our immigration system in the coming months and years ahead.
00:03:58.320
Using our constitutionally protected provincial rights, Alberta will return to a more stable number
00:04:04.100
of primarily economic migrants so that newcomers come here to work and contribute as they have
00:04:10.220
historically done. While Canadian citizens living in Alberta are given first priority to the jobs and
00:04:15.780
the opportunities our economy creates. Our government is accelerating desperately needed health care reforms.
00:04:22.740
For far too long, politicians across the country have neglected the growing crisis in our provincial public health
00:04:29.320
systems. Canada's health care systems, quite frankly, are broken. They are administered by bloated and
00:04:35.960
bureaucratic monstrosities that are often concerned more with centralizing power and control and money rather than with
00:04:48.820
empowering frontline staff and healing patients. By empowering Albertans to access private diagnostic
00:04:55.400
testing and screening services as they so choose. No longer will Albertans require a doctor to give them
00:05:02.600
permission to access private preventative tests or screening. Our government has introduced dual practice
00:05:08.400
legislation that permits doctors to provide private elective surgeries such as hip and knee and eye
00:05:14.980
surgeries after regular business hours and on weekends so long as they continue to provide their regular
00:05:21.980
amount of public surgeries as well. Let's talk about freedom and justice. We all know that woke ideological
00:05:28.980
policies such as the safe supply of drugs or soft on crime bail and sentencing rules, state sponsored social
00:05:37.980
engineering of children and institutionalized censorship of speech are just a few examples of terrible
00:05:44.560
NDP policies that have needlessly destroyed the lives of thousands in communities all across Canada. Albertans have
00:05:51.660
had quite enough of watching this train wreck of left-wing ideas in action and our government has stood firmly
00:05:58.560
against these dangerous and destructive policies when few other governments in the western world would. Although I'm
00:06:04.300
pleased to say that that is changing a little bit more and more each day. And despite the continued hysterics
00:06:10.880
of the NDP and their woke activists, Alberta will continue to march boldly forward with policies that
00:06:17.080
promote freedom, save lives and make our communities safe. This government will fund, not defund, the police. We will
00:06:25.660
seek justice for victims, not excuses for the guilty. We will replace enabling continued drug use for the
00:06:34.060
addicted with providing treatment and a means to recovery. We will lift up and support those struggling
00:06:40.860
with mental health rather than giving them the means to end their lives because of it. And while governments
00:06:46.780
around the world seek to institutionalize the censorship of free speech, our government will forge an
00:06:52.220
accelerated path in the opposite direction. That's why last week our government, inspired by the attack on
00:06:58.380
Dr. Jordan Peterson, as well as so many other doctors and lawyers and nurses and teachers and others,
00:07:04.460
introduced legislation containing comprehensive free speech protection so that no professional will lose
00:07:11.020
their license to practice due to their political beliefs or for not kowtowing to DEI and other destructive mandates.
00:07:20.460
I'm announcing today that next week our UCP government will be introducing a new motion under the Alberta
00:07:29.180
Sovereignty within a United Canada Act that will, if passed in the legislature, instruct all provincial
00:07:36.540
entities including our municipalities and law enforcement agencies to refuse to enforce or prosecute under the
00:07:43.180
federal gun seizure program. Now this Sovereignty Act motion will also make it clear that these
00:07:50.060
agencies will not enforce or prosecute Albertans defending their homes and families from intruders.
00:07:57.340
I got a little tip for low-life criminals out there. If you don't want to get shot, don't break into
00:08:02.140
someone's house. It's really that simple, isn't it? It really is.
00:08:09.820
We want our great men and women in law enforcement and our justice system to spend their precious time
00:08:15.420
and effort going after criminals, not farmers, not ranchers or sport shooters,
00:08:20.780
nor Albertans defending their families and their homes. Imagine that, right? As premier, I want to assure
00:08:27.260
every parent and grandparent here today that under no circumstances will we back down from defending
00:08:32.540
Alberta's children. And that means banning graphic sexual images from our school libraries, full stop.
00:08:38.940
And it also means using the charter's notwithstanding clause to protect our children by restricting
00:08:44.940
puberty blockers for minors and prohibiting gender reassignment surgery until a child reaches adulthood.
00:08:51.820
Of course, we will also protect women and girls in sports so they aren't forced to compete with those
00:08:56.300
who were born male. And we will make sure that parents are notified and included in the decision to
00:09:02.860
change their child's name or pronouns at school. Alberta was born strong and free. Alberta is still
00:09:11.580
strong and free. And together, my friends, we will ensure that Alberta remains forever strong and free. Thank you.
00:09:22.300
Premier Danielle Smith continues to think and try to sell to the province that Alberta is better within
00:09:29.340
Canada, a sovereign Alberta within United Canada. But in everything she said there, she proved that we're
00:09:36.700
better off when we do things on our own, independently, that Canada is going in the wrong direction and we need
00:09:44.140
to right the ship here and we need to take the next step towards independence so we can keep the money that we earn
00:09:52.620
here and we're not giving it to the rest of the country to advance their ridiculous agenda.
00:09:56.700
Canada. She proves that being independent is better than being part of the collective.
00:10:03.900
Now, the other thing that wasn't discussed the other day, and I've mentioned it here on this channel,
00:10:08.460
do you think one pipeline is enough? Premier Smith, do you think one pipeline is enough? Really?
00:10:13.740
Because now, continually, we have to go to Mark Carney, the Liberal Party in Ottawa, to beg. And that's
00:10:20.380
unacceptable. I can't accept that as an Albertan. All of her moves are proving that Canada is going
00:10:26.540
in the wrong direction, and we need to go on our own here in Alberta, and that would be independence.
00:10:32.460
Thank you very much for watching. If you liked the video, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel,
00:10:36.860
