00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel, Tuesday, June the 30th, 3.20 a.m. I hope
00:00:07.940 you're having a great start to your Tuesday with the big blue mug of coffee. I appreciate
00:00:11.700 you being here. Before I get to today's video, which I'm going to title something like
00:00:15.920 Politicians Shoveling Shit. Sorry, sorry for the expression, but that's the way I see 0.99
00:00:24.180 this. Unserious people, unserious politicians about very important things in this country
00:00:29.880 Before I get to that, I sent a message out to Mitch Sylvester about an hour ago.
00:00:35.240 I hope I didn't wake Mitch up.
00:00:36.840 I hope he had his phone on Do Not Disturb.
00:00:38.300 I forget him up early in the morning.
00:00:39.620 I hope I didn't wake him.
00:00:40.880 But I want to talk to Mitch about yesterday's favorable ruling when it comes to the petitions.
00:00:46.480 They're going to be finally counted.
00:00:48.360 So well done to Jeff Rath and his team.
00:00:50.940 But unfortunately, it doesn't change much when it comes to the question in the fall.
00:00:54.820 So hopefully I have Mitch on later on this morning to talk about that.
00:00:57.440 So let's talk about today's subject.
00:01:00.220 You know, I've been saying to the leaders in the independence movement, a number of
00:01:04.080 them, we need to get in front of Danielle's announcement that she's going to put a proposal
00:01:09.400 forward to the major projects office here in Calgary around July 1st.
00:01:13.880 We need to get in front of this because this pipeline is not going to happen.
00:01:18.820 Luckily, one of the leaders has done that and we'll conclude with that today.
00:01:22.900 We'll get to that in just a moment.
00:01:24.120 But here's the story.
00:01:25.440 Alberta to unveil West Coast Pipeline proposal on Thursday.
00:01:29.080 Hallelujah.
00:01:29.920 This is great.
00:01:31.740 Isn't this awesome?
00:01:32.660 But there's one thing that's not happening.
00:01:35.200 Actually, a number of things that aren't happening.
00:01:36.840 We know the carbon capture project, you know, the big giant carbon sucking machine.
00:01:41.460 The companies don't want to build this at a cost of $30 billion.
00:01:44.900 So that's a bit of a problem right now.
00:01:46.540 Can't get that done.
00:01:47.820 But the problem here is in the second line.
00:01:50.820 Two big questions looming over Alberta's pipeline pitch are whether a private sector proponent,
00:01:55.720 now proponent here means investor. You need money to build a pipeline. And Daniel has had
00:02:02.140 how many months now since the MOU was signed with Mark Carney? We'll leave November out of it. I
00:02:06.840 think it was last November, December, January, February, March, April, May, June, seven months
00:02:12.540 in, nobody wants to invest in a pipeline. You'd think some oil company would see a benefit in
00:02:19.220 building a pipeline, but they just don't think they can get it done because of the uncertainty
00:02:24.140 and the uncompetitiveness of Canadian oil because of Mark Carney and his government.
00:02:29.660 Carney's rolling out something as well. Coincidence? Just prior to this announcement,
00:02:34.080 we'll get to that in just a moment. And of course, where will they build this thing? The exact route
00:02:38.860 it will take. Here's an article in the Globe and Mail. Alberta will make initial West Coast oil
00:02:43.780 pipeline proposal without private backing. Sources say Daniel Smith said it'd be a disaster if
00:02:49.400 Canadian taxpayers had to pay for a pipeline. I agree with her. And of course, you've seen this
00:02:53.800 article here, the cost of Kearney's energy sector sabotage is staggering. And some information from
00:02:59.200 the Synovus Energy CEO, John McKenzie, criticizing the rules and regulations that really, really puts
00:03:05.700 up, I guess, handcuffs on investment when it comes to Alberta. Now, the other issue we've got to deal
00:03:11.120 with is British Columbia. You know, I find myself in agreement with David Eby in a way here.
00:03:16.540 Eby has been talking about the fact there's not a pipeline because there's no investment. And he's
00:03:21.280 absolutely right. I'm going to play a clip from him in just a moment. Where is David Eby? You know
00:03:26.040 what? If we wanted to have investment in a pipeline here, it would go a long way if David Eby, the BC
00:03:31.980 premier would come forward and say, you know what? It's in Canada's best interest to build a pipeline
00:03:37.940 to the west coast it's really important team canada elbows up rah rah rah if he did that
00:03:44.020 all of a sudden investors would say you know what maybe we should consider investing in a pipeline
00:03:50.620 because the bc premier is finally on board about building a pipeline but eb's not doing that where
00:03:56.820 is eb right now well here's david eb and this is a tweet from 15 hours ago he's in beijing talking
00:04:03.560 to the communist Chinese. On a trade mission to strengthen our economy, we're also opening up the
00:04:09.340 market to new Team Canada fans everywhere people are talking about another exciting win for our
00:04:15.440 team. Go Team Canada. Now, if you look at the bottom here, I responded to Mr. Eby, a long trip
00:04:22.600 to strengthen Canada's economy when Alberta and a possible pipeline are right next door. Ever
00:04:28.700 consider that Mr. Eby. But I do agree with David Eby. There's not going to be a pipeline because
00:04:33.880 there's no investor and there's other reasons why there won't be a pipeline. I think this takes us
00:04:38.700 back to February. The pipeline proposal has no project proponent. There is not one private
00:04:46.960 company that has stepped up to say, if you build it, we'll buy it. If the approvals are in place,
00:04:53.160 will build it. Not one. It has no route. Currently, taxpayers through the Trans Mountain Pipeline
00:05:02.040 Corporation are funding the development of the route. Not only does it not have permits,
00:05:08.600 it doesn't even have a route. But the third thing it doesn't have is something that the
00:05:13.280 Prime Minister said he believed was core in the House, in the Federal Parliament just recently,
00:05:18.740 that First Nations agree and support projects
00:05:24.000 before they will go forward through the Major Projects Office.
00:05:27.400 Because we believe in cooperative federalism.
00:05:30.380 We believe the government of British Columbia has to agree.
00:05:33.380 We believe that First Nations right-holders in this country
00:05:37.260 have to agree and support.
00:05:39.040 All stakeholders have to agree.
00:05:41.000 And this project does not have the support of coastal First Nations.
00:05:45.500 And that's important to us in B.C.
00:05:47.040 because all of the projects that I outlined to you,
00:05:50.180 those billions of dollars of investment,
00:05:52.020 those thousands of jobs,
00:05:53.560 depend as well on the support of coastal First Nations,
00:05:58.100 whose support we do have for these projects.
00:06:01.440 So I agree with David Eby.
00:06:03.160 There is no investor.
00:06:04.720 Seven months in, still no investor.
00:06:06.480 You'd think somebody would want to invest
00:06:08.860 in this great opportunity here in Canada.
00:06:11.020 But unfortunately, we have too many barriers
00:06:13.380 in the way for that.
00:06:14.520 He talks about the fact that there's no route for this.
00:06:17.040 and there isn't. B.C. Energy Minister says northern route for a proposed oil pipeline not
00:06:21.060 realistic. Ottawa prefers going south, but he also talks about the Indigenous veto. But John,
00:06:26.540 there's no veto. Well, there is a veto. He said it right there. Indigenous people have to agree.
00:06:32.440 I think Danielle Smith will say we've got the agreement of a bunch of Indigenous groups. She's
00:06:36.660 probably going to say that around October 1st to try to get in front of the Alberta Independence
00:06:41.200 referendum that's coming up on October 19th to say, listen, look, we're working within Canada.
00:06:46.020 we're united but we're not because indigenous groups can still stop this you've got the
00:06:50.240 traditional chiefs and you've got the regular chiefs the regular chiefs will say you can have
00:06:54.220 a pipeline then you get the traditional chiefs whoever the hell they are not elected by anybody
00:06:58.760 probably paid off by american ngos who will get in the way with their veto what do you what do
00:07:04.220 you have as a veto you got your veto to get the veto because all you have to do is walk in front
00:07:10.040 of an earth mover and everything stops. And there won't be an RCMP officer, a police officer,
00:07:16.720 or a Canadian soldier that will get people out of the way if they want to stop a pipeline to the
00:07:22.220 West Coast. That's just the way it is. So what is Mark Carney doing? Well, he's the performative
00:07:26.640 prime minister, folks. Look, we're building a pipeline to the West Coast while he's still
00:07:30.920 pushing his green energy plan. He's got the national electricity plan, folks, which is net
00:07:36.380 zero for the whole country. I've talked about that here before. What has he done just before
00:07:41.140 Daniel Smith does this? Because he's got to make it look good for the liberals on his caucus who
00:07:46.060 hate oil and gas and want to keep our oil and gas in the ground. He announces a new green energy
00:07:51.400 program. And here it is right here. This is him from X. Now let's read this just quickly, okay?
00:07:58.920 This can save you up to $1,700 a year in energy bills if you live in Quebec, BC, Nova Scotia,
00:08:05.420 PEI or Manitoba, you can retrofit your home with heat pumps, better insulation and air sealing at
00:08:11.780 no cost. No cost through our Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program. No cost? How is that
00:08:18.740 possible? Sounds too good to be true. What's that saying? If it sounds too good to be true, it
00:08:23.520 probably is. If we go over to the Canada website and you read this blue text here, retrofits
00:08:30.140 undertaken via the Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program will help participants
00:08:35.140 save between $300,000 and $1,700,000 in annual energy costs and reduce their
00:08:39.860 households' annual greenhouse gas emissions, because that's what this is about.
00:08:44.580 Now, here's the free part. Over $500 million in funding, $300 million of which is federal,
00:08:52.500 will be directed to help over 35,000 low and medium income households to install heat pumps,
00:08:59.360 better insulation, approved air sealing, and other upgrades at no cost. No, it's just a cost for you
00:09:05.880 and me. Alberta is going to pay the way for people to put all this stuff in their home. Alberta is
00:09:11.360 not included in this green program, but Carney rolls this out just before Danielle Smith announces
00:09:16.860 a pipeline because it's all a performance for Mark Carney. Meanwhile, if we go over here and look at
00:09:22.080 this tweet from Keith Wilson, who's getting out in front of this announcement, the issue is not
00:09:27.200 whether Alberta should have a pipeline to the Pacific. Of course we should. The issue is why
00:09:32.260 Alberta must accept Ottawa's net zero terms, carbon taxes, and CCS obligations, that's carbon capture,
00:09:39.940 just to seek permission to export our own resources. This announcement shows why Confederation
00:09:46.440 no longer works for Alberta. As I say here so many times, Canada is the country of no. We need
00:09:52.640 things in Alberta. We want things in Alberta. We want to get things done in Alberta. That's just
00:09:58.140 our way. We have to go to Canada, ask for permission. And most of the time we're told, no,
00:10:02.620 I'm sick and tired of having to ask for permission to get things done here. And that's what Danielle
00:10:08.200 Smith is doing down on her knees, begging for prosperity in Alberta. Instead of shovels in the 1.00
00:10:14.000 ground, she is shoveling along with the rest of the politicians in this country. Thank you so much
00:10:20.060 for watching. If you like this video, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel,
00:10:23.740 ring the bell for notifications. I'll see you in the next one.
