It's five days before Christmas, and I apologize before I get into this, but this might end up being a bit of a rant.
00:00:10.700
Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel, 425 a.m. Saturday, December the 20th.
00:00:16.120
I hope you're having a great start to your Saturday and your weekend as well. Merry Christmas to you.
00:00:21.120
I do have my big blue mug of coffee. I hope you're having a great holiday season so far.
00:00:26.140
And I woke up this morning feeling really good about the video I produced yesterday to go up this morning.
00:00:33.200
Actually, here's the thumbnail for it right here. It was something different.
00:00:37.240
I figured it's Christmas. I want to be happy, John.
00:00:41.140
So I did this. Leave the politics until tomorrow. John's top 10 Christmas movies.
00:00:46.740
I know it's off the beaten track. It's not what I normally do here, but I thought you might enjoy it.
00:00:51.200
I'm going to put this up later today because it's dated for today.
00:00:54.200
And I want to be happy, John. It's Christmas time.
00:00:58.880
But this video is probably going to be titled something like, Quebec is the Parasite of Canada.
00:01:04.700
Or it's the Boil on the Ass of Alberta. Something like that.
00:01:08.320
Because Quebec and the politicians out there are garbage.
00:01:14.920
And now why am I talking about this on December 20th,
00:01:18.000
when it's supposed to be quiet season when it comes to politics?
00:01:20.780
Because I woke up this morning and I read this article from True North Wire.
00:01:24.880
And, you know, this article starts off by saying,
00:01:27.800
people will be shocked to learn how much money Quebec gets.
00:01:38.460
If you were to ask an Albertan that wants independence out here,
00:01:43.440
three things that make them mad about being part of Canada and why they want to leave,
00:01:47.180
every one of them would say, we give too much money to Quebec.
00:01:51.800
Every one of them in the top three would be those.
00:01:58.980
They take our money, raised through hard work and innovation,
00:02:03.240
to fuel their economy while telling us we can't get the resources out of the ground that fuels ours.
00:02:17.880
Quebec poised to receive nearly half of all 2026-27 equalization payments.
00:02:24.080
Taxpayers will be shocked to learn that nearly $30 billion is set to be paid out in federal equalization transfers in 2026-2027,
00:02:33.060
with Quebec poised to grab almost half of the massive payment.
00:02:38.040
You know, if you live in the East, you don't understand the West.
00:02:46.000
Quebec is expected to receive $13.9 billion of the total $27.2 billion in equalization payments over the next fiscal year,
00:02:57.160
Quebec Premier Francois Legault cited the importance of these transfers during a Tuesday interview with Radio Canada,
00:03:04.100
stating that the idea of his province separating right now would be too risky economically,
00:03:08.800
given how much money it would soon be receiving.
00:03:12.240
I'd play it, but this guy speaks some different language that drags us down as well.
00:03:17.660
Thank God I live out West where we don't have as much French.
00:03:22.560
Again, the gall and the audacity of this piece of garbage, this parasite.
00:03:26.940
When I did the finances for a sovereign Quebec, Quebec was receiving $4 billion a year in equalization payments.
00:03:34.460
Equalization is the money that we receive from the rich provinces to Quebec, which is less rich.
00:03:44.060
Currently, we receive $13 billion a year in equalization payments.
00:03:48.600
The other thing, and this has been said even by Ms. Marois, is that there would be a period of economic hardship for Quebec.
00:03:55.180
Now, they go on to tell you how much money other provinces get.
00:03:58.520
And Albert is quite pleased to be able to help out provinces that don't have oil and gas in the ground.
00:04:05.640
But back in May, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith called for Alberta to stop subsidizing provinces with major productive economies like Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia.
00:04:19.700
Quebec has substantial national gas resources, and they should develop their own pipelines for their own interests to wean themselves off their reliance on gas from the United States.
00:04:30.740
They should use it to develop their own royalty structure so they can develop their own revenue to pay for their own services for their own people so that they don't have to rely on transfers that largely come from Western Canada to be able to do it.
00:04:46.400
I'm going to tell you why we can't do it in just a moment.
00:04:48.660
You know why we can't cut off the equalization payments?
00:04:53.200
I had a guest on earlier this week that will explain it to you, okay?
00:04:57.400
But while we're giving our money to Quebec, we're running a deficit in Alberta.
00:05:04.460
And what do we get back from Blanchette and Legault in Quebec?
00:05:09.740
The head of the Bloc Québécois and the Premier of the province?
00:05:15.060
The Premiers in the West would like to see pipelines go from the West to East.
00:05:28.480
Right now, there's no social acceptability for this kind of project right now in Quebec.
00:05:55.280
Thousands of dollars per person in Quebec and in Canada for a project which has no meaning
00:06:05.980
And whatever intent they might have to become Americans, I don't mind.
00:06:13.080
It could not be built in less than eight to ten years.
00:06:17.600
It would arrive in Europe and be imposed tariff on pollution.
00:06:23.860
There's nothing serious in that project but the fantasy of gaining votes.
00:06:31.740
I could see these two guys sitting around in a room together laughing at the rest of the country.
00:06:38.700
They're the boil on the ass of Alberta and Canada.
00:06:41.260
They suck the lifeblood out of the country in my province
00:06:43.820
while they make us kiss their ass and give them everything they want.
00:06:51.780
You know, again, we work hard out here to raise money to feed them.
00:06:56.080
To give them what they need while we run deficits.
00:07:00.820
Back in 2021, we actually had a referendum in Alberta
00:07:04.700
when Jason Kenney was the premier out here on equalization.
00:07:08.220
More than 60% of Albertans voted to end equalization with the rest of the country.
00:07:13.380
If those people who just voted on equalization voted yes in a referendum for us to leave,
00:07:20.320
And maybe that's the way we should run our referendum.
00:07:23.900
You want to stop giving money to the parasites in Quebec?
00:07:27.000
Vote yes to leave the country because that's what would happen.
00:07:29.740
Do you know why we can't end equalization out here, even though we voted for it?
00:07:35.140
Here's Tanya Clemens, who was on my channel earlier this week,
00:07:38.500
talking about the independence movement, explaining it to you,
00:07:41.780
standing on the stairs of the Alberta legislature at the independence rally on October the 25th.
00:07:47.560
In the 2021 referendum, 62% of Albertans voted to end equalization.
00:07:54.920
And Ottawa just laughed because they know the truth.
00:07:59.040
Alberta can't possibly open the Constitution to challenge equalization.
00:08:03.360
To challenge that single clause, that one sentence that drains billions from Alberta every year,
00:08:11.520
we'd have to clear four nearly impossible hurdles.
00:08:15.480
The first one is that 7 out of 10 provinces representing 50% of the population have to agree.
00:08:22.480
The second one is we'd have to have a majority vote in the House of Commons.
00:08:29.200
The third is we would have a majority vote in the Senate.
00:08:34.580
And if we magically somehow passed those three hurdles, the fourth one is a real killer.
00:08:45.020
And they never even signed the 1982 Constitution.
00:08:54.820
I'm standing just to the right of Tanya, holding her flag.
00:08:58.100
Derek from an unacceptable fringe is standing right next to me.
00:09:02.220
They get a veto over us stopping equalization payments.
00:09:05.940
That's why it can't be done, even though more than 60% of Albertans voted in favor of it.
00:09:10.720
This has got to end. These people are parasites.
00:09:13.940
And they didn't even sign the Constitution. Did you know that?
00:09:18.320
And here's Danielle Smith pointing it out once again, how this has got to stop.
00:09:24.720
The federal government must provide to Alberta the same per capita federal transfers and equalization
00:09:30.900
as is received by the other three largest provinces, Quebec, Ontario, and British Columbia.
00:09:38.200
We have no issue with Alberta continuing to subsidize smaller provinces with their needs.
00:09:42.860
But there is no excuse for such large and powerful economies like Ontario, Quebec, BC, or Alberta to be subsidizing one another.
00:09:51.720
That was never the intent of equalization, and it needs to end.
00:09:58.900
And if you're in the East and you don't understand the independence movement,
00:10:02.180
why somebody like myself wants to leave Canada,
00:10:04.540
and you were shocked to find out that Quebec was getting almost $14 billion,
00:10:09.120
a lot of it paid for by Alberta and Saskatchewan,
00:10:12.680
maybe you understand a little bit more why we want to leave now.
00:10:16.760
It's a big one, but it's just one of the reasons.
00:10:22.120
About a week ago, the federal government gave next year's equalization amounts to provincial finance ministers.
00:10:27.460
This map is a clear indication of which provinces are driving Canada's economy
00:10:31.060
and how the equalization formula disincentivized economic growth.
00:10:35.360
And as you can see, the West feeding the parasites out East.
00:10:39.340
And this is the way it's been set up since Confederation, since Alberta joined back in 1905.
00:10:45.940
And we just siphon our money over here to Quebec.
00:10:48.020
Oh, and the economic engine of Ontario, which is a bit of a parasite itself.
00:10:53.120
Now, what we have to do, and I've said here before,
00:10:55.440
is we have to stop providing money for people who want to benefit from our prosperity,
