00:01:01.460 Wilson. Keith has become one of the big voices in the independence movement here. I wasn't so jazzed

00:01:07.760 when Kenney spoke with Bruce Party. I like Bruce Party. I like what he has to say. But personally,

00:01:12.720 it came too early in this. We're in the middle of the signature signing campaign right now.

00:01:17.940 And these two debates between Wilson and Kenney will come right at the end of the petition signing

00:01:22.960 on May 2nd. Probably. It could come sooner. We know there's a court case coming up. But another

00:01:28.440 one in late May when we'll be in the next phase. And I think it's very important. I think Keith

00:01:32.260 is an incredibly important voice in the movement. I also think these debates are going to be good

00:01:37.740 because the other side, the anti-independence people, are trying to delegitimize what we're

00:01:43.200 doing, delegitimize what we're saying, delegitimize our message to people regarding Alberta's place

00:01:49.360 in Canada and why we want to leave. And Jason Kenney, either wittingly or unwittingly, is giving

00:01:55.800 it oxygen, is giving the independence movement air, is giving the independence movement a voice,

00:02:01.960 and that will be on a national level. And more people will become aware of why Albertans want

00:02:07.580 independence because of what Jason Kenney is doing here. And these debates are going to be

00:02:11.200 very important. And I think I really want to be in the room on May the 25th. And if you go to

00:02:27.080 and a national news network, Global News. Former Premier Jason Kenney to participate in Alberta

00:02:32.780 separatism debates. And it goes on down here saying he's going to be debating Keith Wilson.

00:02:37.980 So this is great. It's already providing some air, some oxygen to this movement.

00:02:42.780 Jason Kenney, a prominent federal politician, also a provincial politician being the former

00:02:47.900 premier of Alberta. And Keith Wilson will be raised up as well and become more known on a

00:02:53.200 federal level as we get closer to these debates and after these debates when they get national

00:02:58.120 news coverage. So far, the Globe and Mail and the National Post haven't put up stories, but it's

00:03:02.700 pretty much a breaking story right now. I'm sure you'll see that happen over the next 12 hours or

00:03:07.440 so. So it was about a year ago I started thinking about the Alberta independence movement in a big

00:03:14.080 way and I was concerned about something at that point. I'm going to get to the recruitment in just

00:03:18.100 a moment. I was concerned that we didn't have a face of the movement at that point. Now all due

00:03:26.560 respect, now please all due respect to Mitch Sylvester and everybody that speaks on behalf

00:03:31.120 of the independence movement no disrespect here trust me mitch i have incredible respect for the

00:03:37.960 guy is working his butt off in fact i was out at the whistle stop cafe in the weekend i said words

00:03:44.580 to the effect god love mitch sylvester he has just been such a friend to this channel and and again

00:03:51.760 all due respect to mitch sylvester but is he the face of the alberta independence movement

00:03:56.080 as we move into the next phase, which will be campaigning on behalf of a yes vote in a

00:04:02.400 referendum. And I had Mitch on the channel June 14th last year for the first time, and this is

00:04:08.160 the thumbnail. Independence imminent. I honestly think we have a very good chance to win this,

00:04:15.280 said Mitch. And I asked him about what I just said. Do we not need a singular voice, a face,

00:04:38.960 Republican Party you're out there as well do you think we need sort of that cohesive voice that

00:04:44.840 one person out there speaking on behalf of this movement or are we okay to where we are right now

00:04:55.340 reason why we're doing this consciously is here's the problem the people of alberta have to be the

00:05:00.160 face of this the people of alberta are going to be the ones that ultimately decide this they're

00:05:04.560 going to go to a constitutional conference after this and they're going to participate in that

00:05:07.940 and they're going to forever have to participate in a democracy moving forward because that is how

00:05:14.560 we got here again that was back on june 14th last year mitch said no it's been done by design

00:05:53.500 the point with something now as the independence movement is going great, snowballing, getting

00:05:58.360 bigger, huge rallies are being held, people are petitioning. There's clearly going to be

00:06:02.300 a referendum held this year in Alberta. The movement needs a leader. It needs a central

00:06:10.200 personal person to speak for it. So how do you get a leader though? Where do you go with this?

00:06:15.960 I mean, I don't want to step on the toes of those who are already in leadership roles and doing a

00:06:20.560 great job. In fact, one of those people very possibly, or probably might be the ones who

00:06:25.940 would end up winning that leadership role. But I'm just going to pitch this and throw it out there.

00:06:31.020 I think the movement, maybe some of the main movers and shakers within it should get together,

00:06:37.160 schedule and organize a conference post-referendum petitioning period. You know, so when the

00:06:44.280 referendum petitioning is over in May, sometime after that, have a conference where independent

00:06:49.580 supporters can register and get together and hash things out and actually select

00:06:56.980 democratically a spokesperson. Corey, who I think is a very important person in the Alberta

00:07:03.580 the independence movement, suggesting we have some kind of a process, a democratic process

00:07:07.500 to choose a leader moving forward. I think that's a great idea. He also shows his respect to the

00:07:12.540 voices of the independence movement so far as I did. But if we go back over to his video from

00:07:18.260 late January that I just showed you, people with a keen eye may have noticed I searched out the

00:07:23.700 word Keith at the top. Corey received 598 comments on this video, and it's only showing right now

00:07:33.000 the top comments. It's sorted by the top comments, but you'll notice Keith popped up 146 times.
