Hi there, it's John and welcome to the channel 646 AM. It is Tuesday, February 11th. I got the
00:00:06.140
big blue mug of coffee and public employees should not be in unions. Now some people may
00:00:12.320
say that's rather controversial, but I think a lot of you watching this right now agree with me.
00:00:16.740
And I've been thinking this for a very long time. And I think this has a place when it comes to our
00:00:22.740
next election and whoever may be leading the country the next time we have an election,
00:00:27.960
whatever that may be. And the reason why I'm doing this today is because of an article I read
00:00:33.120
in True North. And here it is on the screen right now where one of the unions here in the country
00:00:38.280
that represents 700,000 employees that you pay for are calling for full-on socialism. We'll get to
00:00:44.680
that in just a moment. I'll go through the article. I'll put a link in the description so you can read
00:00:48.960
the whole thing. But the question needs to be asked, maybe a peer poly of, would you cut back on the
00:00:53.920
number of federal employees if you're the new prime minister? Now this is a bit of a landmine
00:00:59.380
because instantly if you were to say, yes, I would cut back on employees, that union will support
00:01:05.500
the NDP or liberals. They probably already are going to do that, but it won't look good for the
00:01:11.620
conservatives at all because it'll have the federal employees coming out against the conservative
00:01:16.360
party, which is one of the reasons why we should not be paying public employees and they should not
00:01:23.000
be in unions. But let's take a look at the number of people who work for the federal government right
00:01:27.180
now. As you know, probably the numbers have grown quite a bit. So let's look back to 2010. This is
00:01:32.320
when Stephen Harper was the prime minister. It was 282,000 people. And then we moved down to 2015. We had
00:01:39.640
257,000 people working under Justin Trudeau. So the numbers had dropped under Harper. By the time we get
00:01:46.780
to 2024, the numbers have gone up. I think it's 30 to 40% at this point to 367,772 people. Question is,
00:01:55.880
what are all these people doing? It's a question I've asked before. And this is your money, folks.
00:02:00.460
You're paying for all of these people and you're paying them union wages. Article in the National
00:02:05.920
Post just from a couple of days ago, conservatives must prepare for a public service cull. Attrition
00:02:11.700
alone won't work. And though severance is expensive, conservatives should think of it as the price of
00:02:16.780
doing business. So already articles coming out, should the conservatives be the new government,
00:02:22.800
they need to cut back on the federal public service. But I'm going to talk a little bit about CUPE in just
00:02:29.360
a moment. As you can see, 367,000 or so, over 350,000 people working for the federal government
00:02:35.820
right now. CUPE covers 700,000 employees across the country, some of which are federal employees,
00:02:43.220
but not a lot of them. So why do I think, some other reasons why I think we shouldn't have people
00:02:50.160
in the public service in unions. Well, first off, I don't want my money going to a union or people
00:02:56.900
who are trying to influence elections with my tax dollars and your tax dollars as well. They should
00:03:01.860
not be supporting political parties and coming out in support of political parties. I think that's
00:03:06.460
wrong. I also think that unions extort government in order to get their support. Meaning, I'm a union,
00:03:14.160
I go on strike, government give me more money, or I won't support you in the next election. So the
00:03:20.340
government caves in, gives them money, and they get union support. I think that's wrong. And I think
00:03:24.740
also, that if you're part of a union, and you may be a conservative in a union, I don't want my union
00:03:32.000
dues going to an organization that supports political parties and things I disagree with.
00:03:37.840
I'd rather that not happen. I don't think that's fair at all. That would really make me mad if I was
00:03:42.220
in a union, and I had to pay for things that I don't agree with. Now, the number one reason is,
00:03:48.080
these unions don't always have my best interests in mind. They support far-left politicians, and
00:03:54.420
they call for the nationalization of business and industry, which leads us to the True North
00:04:00.880
article. So let's take a look at that. CUPE asks feds to nationalize companies to try to leave for
00:04:06.040
the U.S., written by Clayton Domain a few days ago. I've seen this article cited just a few times
00:04:10.540
online. I'll put a link in the description. Now, who is this guy with his fist in the air right here?
00:04:14.840
Well, this is Mark Hancock, and he is the head of CUPE National. And no doubt, they used this article
00:04:22.500
from the CUPE website as source material for the True North article itself, which I'm going to read
00:04:27.500
you in just a moment. Now, you may not know Mr. Hancock, who you can see in this picture right
00:04:31.740
here. You may be more familiar with this guy. If you live in Ontario, you're paying for public
00:04:36.960
services employees. This guy represents Fred Hahn, who is the Ontario president of CUPE. He may look,
00:04:45.000
you know, I was just thinking, he looks a little bit like Beaker from the Muppets. Is that the right
00:04:49.820
one? I think he does. Anyway, Han is well known for one thing in particular, which I'll get to in
00:04:55.420
just a moment. But he is also the general vice president of CUPE's national executive, and the
00:05:00.680
first LGBTQ person elected to lead the province's largest union. He's well known for things like
00:05:06.680
this. And your unions are going out on a weekly basis and sponsoring hate marches against a particular
00:05:13.140
religious group. As you can see right here, here is Mr. Han in one of those marches himself.
00:05:18.880
And as an LGBTQ person, I'm sure Mr. Han would love to meet some of the members of Hamas who would
00:05:25.860
take him up in an elevator to the top of a tall building and teach him how to spread his wings in
00:05:31.340
fly, if you get my drift. So let's move back over to the True North article. I'm not going to read the
00:05:37.660
whole thing because I think it's worth going to their website and reading the whole thing. In response
00:05:41.900
to U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff threats, Canada's National Public Sector Workers Union is
00:05:46.840
calling on the Feds to forcibly take ownership of any nationally important company that threatens
00:05:51.340
to move its operations to the U.S. So it's full-on socialism here, folks. The Canadian Union of
00:05:56.080
Public Employees called on the federal government to assert public ownership of companies in Canadian
00:06:00.300
markets and spend more tax dollars to fight back against Trump's imperialism.
00:06:05.560
Among those progressive solutions, CUPE wants the government to seize control of any Canadian
00:06:11.080
business owner who wants to leave Canada for lower taxes and less regulatory burden that the new U.S.
00:06:18.080
administration promises. So the things that you want as a conservative, lower taxes and less
00:06:23.280
regulatory burden, CUPE is coming out against. You pay these people and you shouldn't be paying them.
00:06:29.860
They shouldn't be in unions. Put emergency nationalization on the table. The announcement said
00:06:35.700
if a company doing business in Canada threatens to move nationally important operations to the U.S.,
00:06:40.660
the federal government could take ownership. Again, pure on socialism. It also wants to increase
00:06:47.880
its funding to Canadian media, which I think is wrong. You can't have a credible media if the
00:06:51.880
government is paying it. You just can't have it. And it also advocates against one particular party
00:07:00.120
in particular. Again, another reason why public employees should not be in unions and we should
00:07:05.020
not have federal unions supporting one particular party or another. Now, people are going to say
00:07:09.760
unions cannot give money to political parties in Canada. Well, that is true, but they always do it
00:07:14.520
through third parties. It happens all the time. The union accused conservatives such as Pierre
00:07:19.460
Polyev and conservative provincial governments of plans to reduce government spending. Boy, that's a bad
00:07:24.980
thing. Taxes. Boy, that's a bad thing. And regulations. Boy, all the things I want, I'm paying
00:07:31.100
public service unions to advocate against. They say they're regressive and won't spur on economic
00:07:37.260
growth, but it will harm Canadians. Read the whole article. It's worth reading. But we cannot have public
00:07:43.060
employees who you pay for in unions. I think they should be banned completely. By the way, there are 700,000
00:07:51.800
people in CUPE. Now, if you're wondering about federal employees, they're part of PSAC.
00:07:59.620
Yeah, that's the union that most federal employees are in. But some of them are in CUPE as well.
00:08:07.420
Sorry, a quick cut here. My cat blue jumped up. It kind of startled me a little bit. Anyway, I think I
00:08:14.680
inadvertently said earlier that we shouldn't be paying these people. I mean, public service employees.
00:08:19.440
And certainly we should. I mean, somebody's doing a public service. They need to be paid.
00:08:23.760
I think the point's been made that they should not be in unions. What do you think?
