00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and good afternoon to you.
00:00:08.420 Welcome to the channel, 3 o'clock, Saturday, August the 2nd.
00:00:11.720 Hope you're having a great start to your long weekend and having a wonderful Saturday afternoon.
00:00:16.420 I've been just sitting back and relaxing this afternoon, doing some stuff outside.
00:00:20.640 Came in just to check my email.
00:00:22.120 This morning I did a video regarding the story of Safeway removing an Alberta flag from their store in Medicine Hat.
00:00:31.460 I did a video on it, and I sent Safeway's head office, Sobeys Safeway, their head office, and their Alberta office an email asking for an explanation of this.
00:00:41.320 So I came in to check my email, not really expecting to get a response on a Saturday afternoon.
00:00:47.040 But I started doing some digging around as well to see if there was an update on this story.
00:00:50.420 Now, for those of you who didn't see my video earlier this morning, this person right here was bragging on the Forever Canadian Facebook page,
00:00:59.060 which is part of Thomas Lukaszik's group that's trying to keep Alberta within Canada.
00:01:04.380 They've got that petition that they're signing.
00:01:06.840 This person was bragging that they got the Alberta provincial flag taken out of a Safeway in Medicine Hat,
00:01:12.840 suggesting that it was an offensive flag.
00:01:16.680 It was divisive as well.
00:01:18.580 And a lot of people were really upset about it.
00:01:21.260 This article written right here in Juneau News,
00:01:23.840 anti-independence activist shamed Safeway into removing Alberta flag.
00:01:27.900 This one at the Western Standard, similar story here.
00:01:31.620 I initially saw this story brought up by Corey Morgan.
00:01:34.360 He did a video yesterday on this, prompting me to write those letters,
00:01:38.260 and suggesting that if Safeway didn't put the flags back in, that we might have to take action with the store.
00:01:44.260 Boy, a lot of people have been commenting on this.
00:01:46.260 Here's Alberta Separation. Stop shopping at Safeway. Put the flag back up. 0.89
00:01:51.320 Here, a complete thread on this with a lot of people tagging Safeway on X.
00:01:56.580 No doubt their head office knew all about what was going on here.
00:02:00.500 Then I saw this. I came in.
00:02:01.940 I checked out X, and I just typed in Safeway, basically.
00:02:05.980 And I saw this person with a thread here talking about somebody who wanted the flag taken down.
00:02:11.760 This person saying it went back up.
00:02:14.380 They put it back up.
00:02:15.540 And then I saw this one as well from somebody called Viking Storm,
00:02:18.800 who I think is an Alberta patriot.
00:02:21.160 Alberta first saying that the flags are back up.
00:02:24.380 They're going to put up even more flags.
00:02:26.140 They just spoke to the store this morning.
00:02:28.200 So this is a good news story.
00:02:30.840 I'm not sure whether Safeway wanted to get wrapped up in this whole situation.
00:02:35.940 Probably a tough situation for a store manager in Medicine Hat to have somebody put pressure on them.
00:02:41.080 But I'm glad that the flags are back up on this.
00:02:43.780 Now, I still have my messages out there.
00:02:46.040 A message to the head office.
00:02:48.040 An email to the Alberta office as well.
00:02:52.340 I'm sure I'll get something back from them.
00:02:54.440 And when I do, I'll let you know what they say.
00:02:57.480 But good news this afternoon.
00:02:58.860 It looks like the Alberta flag is back up at least in one store in Medicine Hat today.
00:03:05.560 Thanks very much for watching.
00:03:06.780 I do appreciate it.
00:03:07.900 If you like the video, give me a thumbs up.
00:03:09.880 Subscribe to the channel.
00:03:10.840 Ring the bell for notifications.
00:03:12.580 I'll see you in the next one.
