00:00:45.860 Hi, everybody.
00:00:47.700 Go to DelBern.
00:00:49.760 All right, let's go.
00:00:53.040 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel.
00:00:55.460 Great to have you along.
00:00:56.660 And you're probably watching this on Thursday, April the 16th or after that date, but I am recording it from my car on Wednesday the 15th.
00:01:05.560 And I'm off to Delburn tonight.
00:01:07.800 I've been hearing about it since 2.15 this morning, so why not?
00:01:11.220 Delburn, north of Calgary, up near Red Deer.
00:01:13.680 So why am I going to Delburn with about 20 to 25 other people tonight?
00:01:18.720 Well, on Saturday night, I was on a Zoom call with Mitch Sylvester from Stay Free Alberta.
00:01:23.320 he was talking to the canvassers about the court case last week and a girl named laura lee got in
00:01:29.260 touch with me and said john call me urgent so i did she said the cbc is expected to be in delvern
00:01:36.800 wednesday night for a let's talk alberta event can you and the other youtubers come i said well
00:01:43.660 i can certainly let the other youtubers know but why don't we get a group of people to show up
00:01:48.580 in delvern wednesday night and show the cbc that we are serious about the independence movement
00:01:54.620 she thought that was a great idea i let mr and mrs albert know about it and we've got a little
00:01:59.780 convoy going to delvern tonight so that's why we're going to delvern i'm expecting john talking
00:02:06.140 to albert to be here tonight jason levine's might be stuck in some snow north but he wanted to come
00:02:11.380 tonight i let pj the belt know about it he he actually reported on it and also unacceptable
00:02:17.680 friends who can't be here tonight because he is on a live stream so off to delvern let's go
00:02:47.680 hi everybody hey max how you doing bud i'm going to stream man good to see you man good to see
00:03:14.320 you hey guys hey guys i love you too awesome wow she's great hey guys hey how you doing
00:03:26.800 i'm here with my good friend wade call engine wade and i wait how many times do we talk a week
00:03:39.100 at about three o'clock in the morning at least three at least three times a week i think the
00:03:45.000 last time i saw you was at the big four the big four yeah here in calgary and what brought you
00:03:50.360 out here to delver in tonight uh a poster that somebody put on telegram is that right oh yeah
00:03:58.300 yeah no i uh i mean we're doing a we're doing a thing in sylvan lake too on the 25th but uh
00:04:04.260 we got to keep pushing this uh i saw a uh somebody put on x not so long ago something that was very
00:04:12.160 profound i think and what they said was uh alberta carried the canada flag to ottawa
00:04:20.660 and what did they do they beat us up they put us in jail they charged us with with bullshit crimes
00:04:28.660 yeah and oh sorry about that john that's all right uh and uh and now they want us to keep 0.91
00:04:34.040 carrying the canada flag yeah well i think they're a day late and a dollar short you know i i think
00:04:39.720 i think that's that's very apropos and i think that when people say canada left us we didn't
00:04:45.460 leave them do you believe in that too is that something that kind of rings absolutely yeah
00:04:49.600 absolutely yeah the united states would inevitably annex the western the western region of north
00:04:55.620 American vocabulary. You remember from school the 54-40-year fight? That was a real thing.
00:05:01.220 They wanted this place. So what did they do? They didn't say, hey, we want you to join this
00:05:06.820 dominion. Will you consent to being governed thusly? I've asked Corey this question before.
00:05:12.740 You know, I came in through the parking lot. There must be 200 blue flags out there. It's
00:05:17.820 pretty awesome. And yeah, I'd like to thank Wade for bringing the big sign up from Sylvan
00:05:24.680 Lake as well. But there's only one Canadian flag in here. It's on the wall behind me right
00:05:30.360 now. I don't think I see any others. And I've asked Corey this before. I've asked Mitch
00:05:34.240 Sylvester, Dennis Motory and others as well. And I think it's becoming evident that the
00:05:38.580 number one challenge that we're going to get regarding this movement is patriotism. How
00:05:45.120 do you fight patriotism the flag and what do you say to people when they say well I believe in
00:05:51.460 Canada I believe in the flag I'm a patriotic Canadian and I'd like to hear what the rest of
00:05:56.520 you have to say about that that's a great question and that brings up a really interesting point of
00:06:03.220 all of the opposition points that I've been presented about Alberta independence like the
00:06:08.200 challenges people give me about it. 90% is emotions. It's emotional attachment, period.
00:06:15.940 When I get into the weeds in this conversation with someone, I do it from a perspective of
00:06:21.500 somebody who is very patriotic. And, you know, I've got the Canadian flag tattooed on my back.
00:06:28.240 It means something to me. So you really have to separate what is it that you, what is it that you
00:06:37.020 are actually loyal to is are you loyal to what you believe Canada is or was and and what it means
00:06:45.360 to you or are you loyal to a piece of fabric with a maple leaf on it are you loyal to a country or
00:06:52.540 are you loyal to what that country is supposed to be for the people that occupy it these are very
00:06:57.900 important distinctions Michael Wagner Dr. Michael Wagner does a very good job describing the old
00:07:05.400 Canada and the new Canada. You know, old Canada prior to Pierre Elliott Trudeau and the new
00:07:11.500 Canada after Pierre Elliott Trudeau, the Charter Rights and Freedoms and yada yada. I'm patriotic
00:07:17.740 to what I believed Canada was, which was freedom and prosperity, period. My patriotism was affected
00:07:26.360 when I was lying in jail for protesting. And I'm here with Zane Novak, one of the speakers here
00:07:31.100 in delbert alberta at let's talk alberta let's talk alberta.com i was asking chris scott how
00:07:37.280 many of these events you guys are doing it's like over 200 oh it's like 260 something like that it's
00:07:42.520 crazy the amount zane you've got a background in politics a little bit i'm not a politician no
00:07:48.480 but i know you ran for mayor back in 2021 in the calgary area um you know and that was right around
00:07:54.560 the covid times i was talking with chris as well asked him whether he was interested in independence
00:07:59.480 back then and he was kind of on the fence that pushed him over what what is it about
00:08:03.400 what is it that's pushed you towards independence over the years were you a canadian once and now
00:08:08.260 an alberton i was always a canadian uh you know i was very much canadian but many many years
00:08:13.700 already recognized you know even under the pure elia trudeau era that the west wasn't getting a
00:08:19.640 fair shake we were in an abusive relationship we never really had a say in what was going on in
00:08:24.500 this country but you know back in 2021 even in 2022 because I was very involved in stuff in 2022
00:08:31.200 after the election yeah and you know I just I had a dream that there could be independence
00:08:38.040 but I didn't know how that could come about and I didn't think that Alberta was ready for it I
00:08:44.040 didn't think Albertans were ready for it but then as we saw how things like I think the breaking
00:08:52.160 point for me was when Trudeau got elected the second time I just couldn't imagine how this
00:08:57.680 country could re-elect Trudeau after what we'd been through and my narrative changed I remember
00:09:02.700 putting a post on my Facebook and a post on LinkedIn that literally had like 10 or 20,000
00:09:08.640 positive reviews because everybody kind of felt the same thing and then I just started to have
00:09:14.660 a more overarching view of what was going on and how we're in such a punitive situation here in
00:09:20.620 the west and we were never going to get our voice heard and it just grew from there and grew from
00:09:24.820 there and grew from there until the point now where i'm just like this is it man this is it for
00:09:28.880 us it was back i think it was around 87 preston manning said the west wants in i don't think we're
00:09:33.560 ever going to get in and over the last week or so i've been telling people particularly when it
00:09:37.420 comes to canada with this majority if you think paulie having the conservatives or any conservative
00:09:42.060 government is going to come to your rescue in the future uh that's not going to happen and now we've
00:09:46.820 got it can't happen it's not possible no no and we've got a liberal majority as well what do you
00:09:51.620 think this is going to do for the independence movement we've seen the indigenous uh challenge
00:09:56.040 in court recently we've seen the government get elected the liberals last year and now a majority 0.62
00:10:00.940 with the with the floor crossers how much do you think this will motivate people to sign the
00:10:05.240 petition and vote yes on a well i think what's really important is for people to um ask the 1.00
00:10:10.680 questions if they have doubts right and that's why we're having things like this let's talk
00:10:14.760 alberta there's lots of other opportunities for people to engage i really think that it's going
00:10:19.080 to come down to those who want to be informed and understand where their future lies and when they
00:10:24.920 see that we can now have a majority government that wasn't even voted in right yeah that's
00:10:30.600 incredible when you see that our indigenous population is one percent and yet they can enact 0.96
00:10:37.080 to our governmental or judicial system a temporary kind of stay on the county of these votes and the 0.71
00:10:44.360 interesting thing too about that is you know that isn't necessarily that voice of the indigenous
00:10:49.800 group in alberta doesn't necessarily represent all the indigenous group that's kind of just the
00:10:54.600 chiefs and a few that got together and put this forward so how undemocratic is that so i think
00:11:01.400 that albertans are starting to wake up to the fact that we live in a country ruled by our government
00:11:08.600 that is not democratic is not hearing our voices we heard today earlier that carney said that oh
00:11:14.440 alberta will never let them separate we'll i'll enact the emergency of that well how stalinistic
00:11:20.760 is that yeah yeah like that is shocking and so i really think this is going to help people wake up
00:11:25.320 more and more to the dire situation we're in we've heard the words minority of the uh tyranny of the
00:11:30.280 minority a lot more recently and that's certainly that is the thing now yes what surprised me
00:11:34.040 tonight and i've said on my channel a number of times i think that a lot of these events um i
00:11:39.340 find that we're preaching to the choir but i was stunned i think you asked tonight how many are
00:11:44.260 just at your first independence meeting i was shocked tonight a third of this room put their
00:11:48.480 hands up i know i really shocked yes because it actually threw me off my speaking point a little
00:11:52.960 bit because i wanted to say okay so everybody here has kind of heard this we need to go out
00:11:57.380 and we need to talk to more people which we do we dramatically drastically do um and especially to
00:12:02.420 are young those are the ones who are most at risk in the current political system we have in canada
00:12:08.580 they're the ones that need to really hear this get out get involved and i think it's really
00:12:13.700 important too when this happens in october when you go into the ballot box to vote nobody's looking
00:12:19.880 over your shoulder it's not even like signing this petition where there's a lineup of people
00:12:23.920 and they're all senior someone can drive by and film it no this is a vote you go to the ballot box
00:12:28.660 and you know whether you're voting for in a federal election pierre or carney or nobody knows
00:12:35.660 so this gives us the opportunity to clearly express in private what we feel is best for our future
00:12:42.940 one more question for you and it's something that um i i've heard a lot from people when i ask them
00:12:47.940 why they want alibaba independence my friend wade who came in from sylvan lake tonight i asked him
00:12:53.340 at the big four in calgary uh why do you want this and he talked about his children and his
00:12:57.740 grandchildren. I think you mentioned that as well in your speech tonight, didn't you? Yes.
00:13:01.960 You know, the future for them, if we don't take advantage of this right now, where the stars have
00:13:05.680 kind of lined up, we have very favorable administration to our biggest trade partner,
00:13:09.740 the U.S. They believe in us. They support this. They see the value in it. If we do not strike now,
00:13:18.020 this opportunity will forever be gone. That's what I was going to say. I tell so many people,
00:13:22.420 I mean, I'm 61 years of age. I'll never have this opportunity again. Never. Same. You know,
00:13:27.160 think 30 years ago was the last time we had a vote on independence or separation in this country
00:13:31.460 we'll never see it again thanks thanks so much thank you for taking the time to do this nice
00:13:35.700 meeting you by the way great i've heard so much about you it's nice to put a face and a real
00:13:40.300 are you real human to the to the legend the enigma well let's just get in this look at the people
00:13:45.960 who are here tonight oh it's acting here packed thank you so much thank you john
00:13:57.160 What a great night out in Delburn.
00:14:01.740 Now, I'm at home right now, and generally I don't record the final part of a video when I'm on the road at home.
00:14:09.160 But we left Delburn, Alberta about 2.5 to 2.45 ago.
00:14:14.580 It took that long to get home, about an hour and a half to get there.
00:14:18.320 Awful storm rolling through southern Alberta right now.
00:14:21.800 It was white-knuckle driving, white-outs all the way back.
00:14:25.840 I'd like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Albertan for leading the way.
00:14:29.020 Great people.
00:14:30.140 But a wonderful night in Delvern with some terrific speakers.
00:14:33.700 Now, if you want to be part of one of those events, I talked to Chris Scott.
00:14:38.060 He says they're having hundreds of them.
00:14:39.640 There's no reason for you not to be at one of those Let's Talk Alberta events.
00:14:44.200 So check out LetstalkAlberta.com to find one near you.
00:14:48.480 I think I've been up for 21 and a half hours straight right now.
00:14:52.340 So I'm heading off to bed.
00:14:53.800 But thank you very much for watching this video. If you liked it, give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel, ring the bell for notifications. I'll see you in the next one.
