00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel, 414 AM, Sunday, May the 3rd.
00:00:07.540 I hope you're having a great Sunday and a wonderful weekend here with the Big Blue Mug
00:00:11.000 of Coffee.
00:00:12.000 I'm here with my big blue cat, Blue.
00:00:14.340 Hey, Blue, give me a nose.
00:00:16.720 Come on. 1.00
00:00:17.360 Give me a nose. 1.00
00:00:18.360 Give me a nose. 1.00
00:00:19.600 Come on.
00:00:20.740 No, don't nose the mic.
00:00:21.820 There you go.
00:00:22.660 Good boy.
00:00:23.100 This is my big blue cat.
00:00:24.660 His name is Blue, and he just wants a little bit of love right now.
00:00:28.220 It's good to have you along today with my cat, Blue.
00:00:30.980 What do you say, buddy?
00:00:32.040 Huh?
00:00:33.900 Good to have you here today.
00:00:35.480 And this video has more than one meaning, all right?
00:00:42.820 I want to move on, but I want to move forward with a strategy.
00:00:46.520 I would like to say that when I did this video, it's kind of hard to do this with a big cat
00:00:50.480 in your arms, but when I did this video yesterday, I almost didn't put it online because it was
00:00:56.680 about me. And as I said yesterday, you've got your own problems. Let me put the cat down.
00:01:02.540 You've got your own problems. You don't need to hear about mine. But the response has been
00:01:06.640 remarkable. Thank you for all your amazing comments. Many of you saying, we got this,
00:01:11.260 buddy. Let's keep moving forward in a positive attitude. And I appreciate that. I think I pinned
00:01:16.440 something at the top of the comments in that video. But the response I got from other people
00:01:21.460 on the phone, people called me yesterday. A number of people called me yesterday.
00:01:25.000 I got text messages from around the world yesterday because of this video.
00:01:30.000 More than 24,000 people have watched it.
00:01:32.500 And I got lots of email as well saying, we got this.
00:01:35.200 And I think we're going to find that there might be a bit of a change in attitude and positivity coming forward.
00:01:40.980 At least I hope that's what comes of this video.
00:01:44.000 So I'm glad I posted it online.
00:01:47.000 Now, what I would like to say is I think we need some kind of a strategy moving forward.
00:01:51.980 We really need that.
00:01:53.340 Let me show you a clock I created three weeks ago. Here it is. I'll put it on the screen.
00:01:59.440 Let me just get my face out of the way. So I created this three weeks ago. So it was about
00:02:05.860 190 days when I created this. And this is 168 days, 19 hours, 36 minutes, and 16 seconds until
00:02:14.860 October 19th in a vote on independence. Time is relentless, folks. It never stops. And since I
00:02:20.740 made that. Three weeks have slipped by and we need to start planning for the next five and a half to
00:02:26.560 six months. And we need a strategy. There's a quote that came to mind that I actually said to
00:02:33.680 somebody in the independence movement earlier this week. And you know, I like quotes and it's
00:02:38.860 from Winston Churchill, the great man himself. He said something like this, this is not the end.
00:02:44.480 this is not the beginning of the end
00:02:48.100 but perhaps it is the end of the beginning
00:02:52.480 well you don't need to hear me say it
00:02:55.420 here's the great man himself
00:02:57.100 ah this is not the end
00:03:00.160 it is not even the beginning of the end
00:03:04.360 but it is perhaps the end of the beginning
00:03:08.380 there's just something about hearing
00:03:13.360 Winston Churchill speak. It kind of motivates you, doesn't it? And what does that mean? Well,
00:03:19.160 that despite significant progress or victory, substantial challenges remain and the journey
00:03:24.080 is far from over. Tomorrow is a turning point. Tomorrow is not the end. It's not the beginning
00:03:30.920 of the end, but perhaps it is the end of the beginning. Tomorrow, the signatures will be
00:03:34.720 handed in at Elections Alberta. A lot of you will be there. But folks, the journey is far from over.
00:03:41.380 Substantial challenges remain, and we need to have a plan going forward, a strategy going forward.
00:03:48.440 I want to show you something. Maybe you saw this online. I saw it yesterday. It looked rather
00:03:52.900 familiar to me, but here is. My wife's on Facebook. I'm not, but I saw this posted by
00:03:59.060 Stay Free Alberta. This went to 37 media organizations across Alberta and the country.
00:04:04.300 Many supporters of Stay Free Alberta have told me they are coming to show support. So this is
00:04:08.480 basically telling people about tomorrow, what's happening, when, where, with a little bit more
00:04:13.200 information, the media advisory. And it looked familiar to me. Why? Because this is the file
00:04:18.160 from my computer. I sent it. Because I know Mitch is running around working his ass off trying to
00:04:25.300 get those signatures in, which is his main job. He's got to get those signatures to Elections
00:04:30.140 Alberta tomorrow. He was busy. I said, have you sent out a media advisory? No. Can I write one
00:04:35.420 for you. And I spent hours, I think it was Tuesday night, scouring the internet for email addresses
00:04:41.000 so I could send them out to 37 and now more media organizations right across this country to tell
00:04:47.000 people about what's happening tomorrow. We need somebody in our movement to do this full-time,
00:04:52.540 a pro, to be in constant touch and a barrage of information to the media, telling people about
00:04:59.840 our message, whatever that may be moving forward. And I think we may know that already. I'm going
00:05:04.520 to get to that in just a moment. But we also need a media buyer who knows what advertising to buy,
00:05:12.120 where to put it, and who to focus it on. A pro. We need somebody to do this over the next five
00:05:17.560 and a half, six months to get the message out. I am no expert on election campaigns. I'm not.
00:05:22.940 But we have people in the independence movement who know how to do this and we need to pick their
00:05:29.460 brains. We need to find out what we need to do. And we need a strategy and a plan moving forward
00:05:34.700 because folks, the federal government has all of these things and they're going to hit us with
00:05:42.160 everything they've got. And guess what they're going to hit us with? A lot of money. Guess whose
00:05:47.800 money it is that will be influencing people here in Alberta? Yours. They're going to be spending
00:05:52.420 your money to influence people here in Alberta to vote no. We need a plan. We need a strategy.
00:05:58.700 We need the talking heads to sit down now because, folks, the clock is ticking.
00:06:07.960 Time is relentless, never stops, and that's why we need to have a strategy now.
00:06:12.680 And we need to sit down over the next week to plan all of this out.
00:06:16.840 A lot of you have been sending me links to Ezra Levant, the video he did.
00:06:21.780 A lot of you discouraged at the polling numbers.
00:06:24.000 I think we can still win this if we plan properly.
00:06:27.240 A couple of things stood out for me. The work that's been done by State Free Alberta, Let's Talk Alberta, others around the province, has been pretty remarkable, all of these town halls. But where do most of them happen? Outside the cities, where lots of people show up, and most of the people are in favor of independence.
00:06:47.100 But what Ezra Levant focused on very much is the fact that it's not the people around the cities that we need to focus on.
00:06:55.100 We need to focus on the cities themselves.
00:06:58.840 On page 23, you can see the real divide in Alberta.
00:07:02.420 Rural support is 53.5%.
00:07:05.240 I'm combining the strong support and the somewhat support.
00:07:09.020 Compare that to Calgary and Edmonton in the mid-20s, about half as much.
00:07:13.520 I live in Calgary, and I've been trying to think back on the different events that have
00:07:17.420 actually happened in the city since the beginning of the year.
00:07:20.520 I remember the Queensland Community Center.
00:07:22.780 I was at that one.
00:07:23.680 I was at one in Dalhousie, which is in the northwest.
00:07:26.480 There was one at Springbank, again in the northwest.
00:07:29.040 Let's Talk Alberta was here about a week ago.
00:07:31.360 And I can only think of four.
00:07:33.040 We need to start focusing on the cities and getting that vote out.
00:07:36.220 So maybe these groups that are out there doing this can sit down in a room when we're
00:07:40.980 talking about strategy and start focusing on where we need to talk to people. The other thing
00:07:46.700 that people like to focus on when it comes to the independence movement is the money. Everybody
00:07:52.200 says money, money, money, but really that's probably not the place where we should be focusing
00:07:57.380 our message or what we should be talking about when it comes to our message. People say to me,
00:08:03.040 John, why do you want independence? I think money is important, but I always say Canada is the
00:08:07.880 country of no. They won't allow us to be prosperous. They won't allow us to get our
00:08:12.900 resources out of the ground. I don't like the fact that the East has this control over us.
00:08:17.960 And what did Ezra Levant find out? The polling numbers for being unfair, meaning the East being
00:08:25.160 unfair to Alberta, are very high. Should that be our message? So look at page 26 of the poll.
00:08:31.740 do you think the way alberta is treated by the federal government in ottawa is fair
00:08:36.700 49.7 say it's unfair which is a lot higher than the number who say they want independence or
00:08:45.760 vote for a referendum i'm going to try to get ezra on the channel but he goes on to talk about
00:08:52.420 donald trump how he won people saw voting for trump as an opportunity to fight back it's the
00:08:59.920 only thing that everybody's equal with when it comes to government. We all get a single vote.
00:09:05.860 So is that our message? Ottawa's being unfair. I've been told that the polling numbers, that this
00:09:11.840 poll saw immigration as number one on people's minds when it comes to things that are bothering
00:09:18.160 them when it comes to Alberta. And Ezra talks about that. I also was told that crime, pipelines,
00:09:23.360 healthcare, and economy were the top five. Economy came in at number five. I thought it would be
00:09:28.360 higher, but it's immigration. Do we focus on that? This has to be discussed. We must have a strategy
00:09:35.960 and we must have a strategy now. We're going to blow this thing if we don't.
00:09:44.800 Here's another thing I know. You've got a lot of energy. You're all telling me in my video
00:09:51.120 yesterday, John, we got this. We're going to work harder for the independence movement. Yes.
00:09:55.160 start thinking about ways you can raise money for the independence movement because we're going to
00:09:59.340 need a lot of it because ottawa is going to have a lot of your money to convince people to say no
00:10:04.820 so start thinking about ways you can raise just a little bit of money at a time that can help the
00:10:10.140 independence movement because that's going to be needed in a big way and volunteer again you know
00:10:15.680 it's going to be very challenging over the next five and a half to six months there are going to
00:10:20.200 be some bumps in the road which i'm going to be watching for i'm not going to get my my guard down
00:10:24.760 again like I did on Friday. But there's going to be a lot of challenges, but have some fun with
00:10:28.740 this. You know, the amazing thing about the petition signing part was that every time I went
00:10:33.820 out and visited somebody or I saw those flags at the side of the road, I stopped. And it could
00:10:39.240 have been a crappy day, but they always had a big smile on their face. So keep that positive
00:10:43.240 attitude. And thank you very much for raising me up after the video I did yesterday. But we need a
00:10:49.520 plan. We need a strategy. We need everybody to sit down together. We're all working for the same
00:10:55.960 goal and we need to do it now because the time is ticking. And like I said, time is relentless.
00:11:05.720 Thank you very much for watching. I appreciate you being here. If you like this video,
00:11:11.140 please give it a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel, ring the bell for notifications,
00:11:14.620 share it if you like
00:11:16.300 and I'll see you
00:11:19.280 in the next one
00:11:20.800 tick
00:11:21.520 tick
00:11:22.700 tick
