00:00:00.000 Welcome to the channel. Great to have you here. And to the people who are subscribers to my
00:00:08.800 channel, I don't normally put up four videos in a day, and I hope I'm not driving you crazy,
00:00:13.900 but I think this is kind of an important one because we've got, well, something's happened
00:00:20.060 since that Friday night email went out to all the third-party advertisers. The message that
00:00:26.680 there would be no third-party advertiser scrutineers in the room. Elections Alberta basically,
00:00:31.880 I guess the word banning is probably appropriate here. And I've got Jason Levine on with me to
00:00:36.720 talk about this. Jason, a media advisory went out this morning saying that a number of third-party
00:00:43.880 advertisers are asking that, let Alberta decide, have a scrutineer in the room along with
00:00:49.540 the Forever Canadian people, because the other side as well has had their scrutineers sort of
00:00:56.400 removed from the equation here. Can you tell us what's going on here and what do you expect to
00:01:00.700 happen? Well, John, thanks for the time and the opportunity to do this because we had very little
00:01:06.460 of this. We got notified late on Friday, right before the long weekend, that even after being
00:01:11.720 asked to provide scrutiny or lists to Elections Alberta earlier in the year, that they were not
00:01:16.580 going to allow any of them to participate. They cited security, logistics, and space as their
00:01:22.040 concerns for this, and I didn't think that was right, and many of us felt that same way, John.
00:01:27.780 So over the weekend, some of us started communicating together, and the idea came up to respond and to
00:01:34.340 propose a new option, which is allow at least one from each side to be there, option one and option
00:01:40.660 two. We came up with the idea of proposing two of the largest ones, so that would be Forever Canadian
00:01:46.860 for option one and let Alberta decide for option two to go ahead and have that representation
00:01:52.100 because as you saw Friday, as soon as I posted and Corey posted and others posted, the backlash
00:01:58.000 was severe and quick that the legitimacy of the election will be called into question
00:02:03.560 for this simple act of removing third-party scrutineers, even after going through the
00:02:08.560 process of providing the list to Elections Alberta on time to ensure that this process
00:02:13.600 can happen. We were saddened to hear late Friday, right before Thanksgiving, that the decision was
00:02:19.360 made by Gordon, using his discretion to go ahead and ban all third-party scrutineers.
00:02:24.920 Yeah, that's the place. By the way, you dump things on the weekend, so it kind of falls into
00:02:28.840 a black hole. And the best black hole is the ones during a long weekend, like happened on Friday.
00:02:34.520 And certainly, people start to think whether the fix is in or not now. I'm just wondering,
00:02:41.080 you've got a number of different third-party advertisers, including you are a third-party
00:02:46.080 advertiser, The Levine Show, to basically back having somebody from Let Alberta decide being
00:02:52.220 in the room on this one. Is that correct? Because others wanted scrutineers there as well.
00:02:57.320 That is correct. And I was able to communicate with six other ones to get behind this initiative,
00:03:02.520 this proposal, because we thought it was necessary to kind of work together to put this
00:03:07.320 message forward loudly. And it was a proposal from, and there was others involved and contacted,
00:03:13.240 but we had to move quickly and we got the signatures together for seven of us and put
00:03:19.000 it forward. And again, I just want to let your viewers know our intentions here, the motivation
00:03:24.360 here is to ensure that no matter what the results are, that the Alberta public can go ahead and
00:03:29.340 accept it and take the next steps forward. We don't want question marks all over this result.
00:03:34.280 We want to make sure that everybody's comfortable, that the process was fair and legitimate.
00:03:39.320 You have included the Forever Canadian side as well, because you expect them to have somebody in the room.
00:03:45.060 That's fair.
00:03:46.220 What do you expect to hear back from Thomas Lukasik, who heads up that third-party advertiser?
00:03:52.260 Well, Thomas has ran in campaigns and elections before, and he was an MLA, and he won his seat.
00:03:58.300 So he understands the value and the reason why it's important to ensure that the election is fair and it's transparent and it's not questioned or challenged, whether the public has an opinion or it even ends up in the court to challenge it for fairness.
00:04:13.120 I think he fully understands the value of that.
00:04:15.760 And I would expect him to be behind this because it is balanced.
00:04:19.540 There's going to be one from either side at each polling station to watch this.
00:04:23.820 And we've stepped up and included him.
00:04:26.460 Now, if he decides he doesn't want to do it or some other TPA for option one wants to do it or none want to do it, that would be a decision on their part.
00:04:34.780 But we did think it was important to include both sides because we do want a fair, transparent, balanced and legitimate outcome.
00:04:41.340 You put a time frame on this at five o'clock today.
00:04:44.520 This went out earlier this morning.
00:04:46.200 You expect an answer from Elections Alberta.
00:04:48.340 And what if they come back and say, no deal, nobody's in the room?
00:04:52.120 What are you going to do?
00:04:52.800 Well, I think that's going to add even more uncertainty to it, because now that we came back with a proposal that I think is fair, and it does address their concerns about space and security and logistics, by only adding two TPAs instead of the dozens or a couple dozen, this is, I think, a proper response from the TPAs.
00:05:11.800 Now, if they don't want to move forward with it, or they choose to continue to uphold the ban on all, I think that will add even more questions to the process, and that's exactly what we're trying to avoid.
00:05:21.620 We want to make sure that people are comfortable with the results, not having reasons to question it.
00:05:26.220 And as you saw already over the weekend, people like Jason Kenney is already mocking anybody that's bringing concerns up.
00:05:32.940 So we understand what the narrative will be on October 20th if the results are not in our favor and there was no scrutineers. 0.95
00:05:40.320 They're just going to continue to mock us as people that are just poor losers.
00:05:43.980 Because Jason Kenney is already going around media saying this exact same thing right now. 0.96
00:05:48.300 So he got ahead of it as well.
00:05:49.860 So I think it's important that we balance this out.
00:05:51.880 The conversation's fair, and the process is transparent and fair.
00:05:56.560 Do you expect to be in contact with Gordon McClure, who is the Elections Alberta Chief Electoral Officer?
00:06:03.000 Are you going to call him by the end of the day?
00:06:05.040 You have given him that time limit.
00:06:07.780 Yeah, so we were clear in the letter that if he does not respond by 5 p.m. today,
00:06:12.940 that we will consider it as a decline, or he chooses not to move ahead with it.
00:06:17.500 And then we will go ahead and decide what we'll do because we'll govern ourselves accordingly on this.
00:06:22.260 But I do think even though the legislation isn't very clear on whether or not this is proper, he does have discretion.
00:06:29.640 But discretion should be in the favor of ensuring that the elections are upheld in the most fair, balanced way possible.
00:06:36.380 And I don't think that this actually falls under that.
00:06:38.740 I actually think it caused more questions and concerns than creating an environment that has legitimacy.
00:06:44.120 that there may be some court action or some court intervention before or even after the election
00:06:50.040 if this is not taken seriously at this stage.
00:06:52.440 And we had to move quickly because advanced polling started today.
00:06:55.800 So there are people in line voting right now in advanced polling,
00:06:58.780 and we need to get the scrutinaries trained, allocated,
00:07:01.740 and they need to know where they're going to be when the counting starts.
00:07:04.700 So we needed to move quickly on this, and I would encourage Elections Alberta to also move quickly on this one.
00:07:09.540 Any response from the media? You sent the advisory out this morning.
00:07:13.620 Anybody get back to you?
00:07:15.580 Yeah, so Western Standard, CBC, Calgary, and Global National have all reached out to me.
00:07:22.260 I've done interviews with all of them, and it should be in print, radio, and on TV, these interviews.
00:07:28.680 Are you available to anybody if they want to get in touch like I got in touch with you?
00:07:32.700 I would encourage anybody that cares about the legitimacy of this election and the news cycle that's around it to go ahead and reach out.
00:07:40.140 jason at thelevineshow.com or 587-687-9955 or 637-9955. Gotcha. I'll put the number up on
00:07:50.500 the screen to make sure it's correct. Now that we're done talking about this, we'll find out
00:07:55.400 what happens at five o'clock. We've got a couple of events coming up. I just wanted to get those
00:08:00.200 in at the end. Obviously, people know we're in support of option two in the referendum. We're
00:08:05.800 trying to provide some balance when it comes to scrutineers. And that's what you're trying to do
00:08:10.560 here. We've got an event coming up tonight. If people want to go to it, it's with Let's Talk
00:08:14.960 Alberta. Chris Scott, Keith Wilson, Tanya Clemens, Ben Crane, Kathy Flett, Corey Morgan will be
00:08:20.180 there. I will be emceeing the event at the Astoria Banquet Hall, 2027 Pegasus Road in the Northeast.
00:08:27.160 Doors open at 530 tonight. I hope to see you there. You've got an event coming up in Calgary
00:08:31.140 tomorrow evening, I understand. I do. I've got Bruce Pardy, Matt Rowley, and Dennis Kalma coming
00:08:37.840 together. Dennis is going to have quite the conversation with the public about the Transition
00:08:41.860 Council and the work he's done there. So that would be the plan and the financials and the
00:08:46.380 costs that he came up with. We'll be answering questions about that. Then we'll get into the
00:08:51.580 conversation about a constitutional convention, how that would actually unfold. And then we'll
00:08:56.860 talk about the follow-up to the three types of constitutions. So you got Bruce has flipped the
00:09:02.160 default, which means government has no power except what the people provide. You got Dennis
00:09:07.220 Kalma, who's arguing for a republic-style constitution. And then Matt Rowley, who's
00:09:12.140 taking a courageous stance of trying to convince people to go back to the traditional constitutional
00:09:18.020 monarchy prior to Pierre Elliott Trudeau changing it and moving the power away from the legislature
00:09:24.700 into the courts. Speaking of the legislature, we will be there on Saturday for the big legislature
00:09:30.580 rally with Let Alberta Decide. You've got to be there on Saturday. This has got to be the biggest
00:09:36.080 event. I think you're trying to set up a little booth there to be part of the event. I'm going
00:09:41.320 to be the master of ceremonies at that event as well. So that's going to be really exciting.
00:09:45.880 Yeah, we're looking to participate in various ways. So I'll be working on some of the streaming
00:09:50.600 along with Max and Freedom Calendar
00:09:52.640 to make sure that the public will be able to watch the events.
00:09:55.700 And we're also, as a TPA, working on a permit
00:09:58.540 with the legislative grounds
00:10:01.220 to ensure that we have a booth there
00:10:03.060 and provide our TPA material as well.
00:10:06.060 Okay, and there are, I'm not sure how many places
00:10:08.140 you can pick up buses,
00:10:09.280 but I'll put the information up on the screen
00:10:11.160 in post-production.
00:10:12.520 So if you want to go to the event, you need a bus,
00:10:14.580 that'll be a lot of fun.
00:10:16.200 I'm looking forward to seeing everybody on Saturday.
00:10:18.880 Jason, thanks so much for doing this.
00:10:20.180 I think it's important what went out this morning, that media advisory.
00:10:23.720 I'm glad you've got a number of the other third-party advertisers involved with this.
00:10:28.000 I'm interested in hearing what you hear back from Elections Alberta.
00:10:31.400 Thanks for talking to me today.
00:10:33.240 John, thank you very much for this opportunity, and thanks for doing a special episode,
00:10:36.400 because time is of the essence on this one.
00:10:38.780 We want legitimacy in this referendum and the results, so thank you for your time.
00:10:43.040 Okay, Jason Levine, The Levine Show, and if you like this video, please give it a thumbs up,
00:10:47.800 subscribe to the channel, ring the bell for notifications. I will see you in the next one.
