00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John and welcome to the channel 552 AM, Saturday, April the 18th. I hope you're
00:00:08.460 having a great start to your Saturday and your weekend as well with the big blue mug
00:00:12.520 of coffee, which I tip to you. And I do not like having to do what I'm about to do. And
00:00:19.280 I am likely to piss off some people I like, admire, and respect today. And I talk to them
00:00:25.940 on my channel, and they may not talk to me again, but I think some mea culpas are needed.
00:00:33.180 Some admission of wrongdoing. And if I am wrong in what I say here today, I'm proven wrong with
00:00:39.000 actual fact, I will mea culpa and admit wrongdoing myself on this channel and apologize to the people
00:00:47.020 I might mention in this video today. Stay until the end. Because some audio and video of this
00:00:55.080 event has popped up, and I saw it this morning. You may have seen it as well. You may have been
00:01:00.340 outraged. It is garbage. I'm going to prove it to you, and this is how rumors and lies get spread 1.00
00:01:06.440 on the internet. What am I talking about? I'm talking about this. This is a tweet from Jeff
00:01:12.200 Rath, who I like very much. I just received a call from a Stelco employee in Hamilton, Ontario.
00:01:20.000 that person advised me that he was present when Mark Carney visited the Stelco plant in Hamilton,
00:01:26.660 Ontario. On March 29th, 2026, they advised that when Mark Carney was asked what he would do
00:01:33.540 in the face of an Alberta independence vote, Mark Carney replied that, quote,
00:01:37.760 there will be no Alberta independence because I'll invoke the Emergencies Act, unquote.
00:01:43.600 Now this is based on one person telling Jeff Ratt this is hearsay. There's no video of this
00:01:53.860 actually happening from any credible media source or from a cell phone coverage of this event. Now
00:02:02.020 you may say, John, I've seen the video of this. Hold on. So this is spreading like wildfire.
00:02:10.660 this from juno news carney threatens emergencies act to block alberta independence juno news
00:02:18.140 might have to do a mea culpa as well david craden while speaking with steel workers mark carney
00:02:24.220 reportedly threatened to use emergencies act to crush alberta independence here's what jeff rath
00:02:29.700 told me david craden may have to do a mea culpa as well so and i've been asked to comment on this
00:02:37.500 in some of the comments on my videos, and I've said, listen, this is hearsay as far as I know.
00:02:42.000 I don't think there's any proof that this actually happened. And then I get up this morning and I saw
00:02:46.720 this video right here. I'm going to boost the audio in post. It's very quiet. But listen to
00:02:53.060 the difference between the audio from the question itself and what Mark Carney supposedly said here.
00:03:00.580 What about the Alberta independence referendum? Something that my government is going to do is
00:03:04.960 to use the emergency powers of the federal government.
00:03:09.120 Okay, so there's a camera right in behind here, by the way.
00:03:12.660 So if this actually happened at this spot right here,
00:03:15.140 you would think there would be video footage of this
00:03:17.180 from somebody other than the video from somebody's cell phone you're seeing right now.
00:03:21.340 But listen again to the audio at the beginning and the audio from Carney.
00:03:25.080 What about the Alberta independence referendum?
00:03:27.260 Something that my government is going to do
00:03:28.920 is to use the emergency powers of the federal government.
00:03:33.280 The audio doesn't match.
00:03:34.960 And when I heard it, I knew it didn't match at all.
00:03:38.380 And I remember Carney saying something like this last year.
00:03:44.500 He mentioned this last year.
00:03:45.840 People made a big deal out of it.
00:03:47.540 So I did a quick search, and it didn't take me very long.
00:03:50.700 But here's the audio that it came across.
00:03:54.560 And listen to this.
00:03:55.520 This is from Kelowna in February of 2025, so more than a year ago.
00:04:00.460 This is what Mark Carney said in its entirety.
00:04:02.760 And something that my government is going to do is to use all of the powers of the federal government, including the emergency powers of the federal government, to accelerate the major projects that we need in order to build this economy and take on the Americans.
00:04:20.360 Actual words out of his mouth. Now let's edit it down a little bit and hear what he has to say.
00:04:26.920 Something that my government is going to do is to use the emergency powers of the federal government.
00:04:33.100 Now you can see where I edited it there.
00:04:36.280 Watch the jump in the video.
00:04:37.680 Something that my government is going to do is to use the emergency powers of the federal government.
00:04:43.400 Now let me play the original fake for you once again.
00:04:46.640 Something that my government is going to do is to use the emergency powers of the federal government.
00:04:52.480 Now let me play that clip again.
00:04:54.800 Something that my government is going to do is to use the emergency powers of the federal government.
00:05:01.060 Now, let me play the original clip again from back on February 12th in Kelowna and listen to it again.
00:05:07.680 Something that my government is going to do is to use the emergency powers of the federal government.
00:05:13.460 Now, let me just tell you that I've played some different clips for you.
00:05:16.760 This clip right here.
00:05:18.400 Something that my government is going to do is to use the emergency.
00:05:22.040 And this clip right here...
00:05:28.040 Something that my government is going to do is to use the emergency powers of the federal...
00:05:33.340 Both of those clips are both audios on top of each other.
00:05:38.760 There's obviously been an edit here, and people are spreading this like it's true, and it's not.
00:05:45.360 This is fake.
00:05:47.380 And from all I understand, the original post that Jeff Rath put out is fake.
00:05:53.200 Now, I was out in Delbrin the other night.
00:05:58.500 And I called up Unacceptable Fringe Derek, who I consider a friend now.
00:06:03.240 We get along quite well.
00:06:04.340 And I said, Derek, did you want to do a live stream on your channel?
00:06:08.720 Because he was doing his live stream on Wednesday night while I was in Delbrin.
00:06:12.200 And he said, yeah, let's do that.
00:06:13.860 and the microphone went to my phone and he asked a question about this and Chris Scott responded to
00:06:21.480 it with a great answer if this were true but it was also addressed a little while later
00:06:27.940 and here's what was said by Chris Scott and Corey Morgan about this issue and this originated as
00:06:36.740 far as I could see on x that somebody said that Carney said something that implied he would try
00:06:43.640 and use the emergencies act to block Alberta independence kind of rumor I was in the newsroom
00:06:47.680 today Wednesday's the day I work have to work downtown to the Western Standard so we tried
00:06:52.380 to source it and we tried to look at that rumor and we can't find a basis of it anyway
00:06:56.180 there's no proof that this actually happened and we need to stop doing this there's no need for
00:07:04.400 this kind of information getting out because this will come back and they'll say we can't trust them
00:07:10.180 they lie. Look what they said about Carney and the emergencies act being at Stelco. And there's
00:07:14.660 no indication he was there at all on the 29th of March. He was somewhere else. So we need to stop
00:07:21.540 doing this and we need to make sure that we're clear and factual about what we're saying when
00:07:26.640 it comes to social media, because people spread this and they believe it. And I don't believe
00:07:31.160 that this is true. As much as I think it's possible that Carney could do something like
00:07:35.520 this. I don't believe he actually said this until somebody provides me with proof and then I will
00:07:41.600 say I was wrong. But we need to clear this up and say we were wrong. We'll be better in the future.
00:07:48.960 That's what I've got to say today. And I may piss some people off, but folks, we've got the truth,
00:07:55.360 the facts, and the information and the numbers on our side. There is no need to make garbage up.
00:08:01.280 Thank you very much for watching this video.
00:08:03.780 If you liked it, give it a thumbs up,
00:08:05.640 subscribe to the channel, ring the bell for notifications.
00:08:08.440 I'll see you in the next one.
