00:00:00.000 Hi, it's John, and welcome to the channel. Great to have you along today. Thank you so much for
00:00:07.780 clicking on this video, and I think there's an opportunity for you to learn a lot here and take
00:00:12.520 part in a great event, or maybe one of three events across the province coming up very soon,
00:00:18.960 June 29th, June 30th, and July 2nd here in Alberta. Joining me on the channel today, as you know,
00:00:24.920 a good friend of mine, Jason Levine, The Levine Show.
00:00:28.700 And Jason, you've got some big things in the works here.
00:00:31.040 I'm pretty excited about this.
00:00:32.680 You recently had Matthew Rowley, Dennis Kalma, and Bruce Party on your show
00:00:37.540 talking about a constitution for Alberta in an independent country.
00:00:43.140 And you're going on tour with these guys for three shows.
00:00:45.600 Tell us a little bit about it.
00:00:47.500 John, thank you so much for having me back to the show.
00:00:49.920 And yes, absolutely.
00:00:50.960 I'm very excited to take all three of them on tour in person.
00:00:54.340 It's going to be Edmonton on the 29th of June.
00:00:57.240 We're going to head down to Red Deer on the 30th.
00:01:00.160 And then right down into Calgary, July 2nd.
00:01:02.840 And this isn't going to be a presentation.
00:01:04.780 They're not here to sell you on any ideas.
00:01:06.540 We're actually going to flip the entire conversation
00:01:08.920 because we want the audience to be the main participation in this one.
00:01:12.920 So bring your ideas, your concerns, your comments to these gentlemen
00:01:16.860 as they are still formulating within their own mind
00:01:19.480 what a Constitution could look at.
00:01:21.660 And this is your time to go ahead and give them that feedback as they're noodling all of this.
00:01:25.820 Yeah, let's talk about Matthew Rowley, who I spoke to.
00:01:29.260 Matthew is kind of in favor of a Commonwealth Westminster model.
00:01:33.300 As soon as people hear that, they went, they want to get rid of the king.
00:01:35.820 So that's interesting.
00:01:37.260 That's what we heard a lot when you did your discussion with these three gentlemen about a month or so ago.
00:01:42.220 Dennis Kalma, Republic style government is what he's looking for.
00:01:45.920 Bruce Party is sort of, well, you call it a flipped default constitution.
00:01:50.580 people first power limited a lot of people very much in favor of what bruce had to say
00:01:56.400 and dennis was kind of somewhere in the middle now you told me prior to doing this interview that
00:02:00.820 all three of these guys they've kind of changed their minds in a little bit of a way since they
00:02:05.200 had that discussion they have and they're open-minded because they're wanting the feedback
00:02:10.400 and what we saw with our comments during that entire show and i'm sure they went back and read
00:02:15.020 some of them is uh yeah there's there's some room for improvement with all three of the proposals
00:02:20.140 they had on the table, and I think the one that Albertans really started to open their eyes to
00:02:25.780 would be with Bruce Party, because it's a brand new type of way of having government,
00:02:30.580 but they had some concerns, like would you still have education and health care, and some of the
00:02:35.940 other things that Albertans have grown into relying upon, and how would you transition,
00:02:41.060 and how would that work? So there was a lot of work that needed to be done there,
00:02:44.140 And then also Matt Rowley, what he's proposing is not the status quo, but it's a return to what it was supposed to be before it got ruined by Pierre Elliott Trudeau.
00:02:55.300 And then, of course, you got Matt Rowley, who's been listening to all of these conversations from Matt, Bruce and others and saying, you know, I think we can improve on what the U.S. Constitution looks like.
00:03:06.280 But some of these ideas are great as well.
00:03:08.220 He likes some of the stuff that Bruce talks about.
00:03:10.580 And I see that they're kind of merging into something.
00:03:14.960 And that's kind of where we want this process to go.
00:03:16.960 The Constitutional Convention is going to have one constitution when we're all done.
00:03:20.960 But hopefully it's the best of all of them.
00:03:23.440 Yeah, you're talking about Dennis Kalma, who's kind of the one in the middle.
00:03:26.340 I know that I think he agrees a lot with what Bruce says, but he often brings up what a three-story pink chicken coop in the backyard.
00:03:34.800 Who would take care of that if you had a dispute with your neighbor on this?
00:03:38.220 Bruce's kind of government would be take care of it yourself, where we do need somebody to look
00:03:43.420 after these things. It was a very interesting discussion. And following the chat online
00:03:48.560 was really interesting as well, because so many people, well, people ask me often,
00:03:53.380 what do you want as a conservative? And I say, I want to be left alone, which leans me
00:03:57.360 a little bit more towards Bruce, but I'd rather see a little bit more of a Republican style
00:04:01.860 government like Dennis is talking about. So it's going to be a fascinating discussion. And
00:04:06.260 And so how are you going to work this out?
00:04:08.180 Are you going to have the three men on the stage,
00:04:09.960 and then people can come up and ask questions or provide suggestions to them?
00:04:13.840 Is that how you're going to do this?
00:04:15.560 Yeah, so the three men will be on stage,
00:04:17.480 and they're going to have their notebooks with them and taking notes the entire time
00:04:20.420 because that's what they're there for.
00:04:22.000 They're here to get feedback.
00:04:23.140 It will be a public input event.
00:04:24.960 We're not streaming this.
00:04:26.240 We're not even recording this.
00:04:27.520 There may be some clips recorded for promotional purposes,
00:04:30.940 but we actually want to create an environment where people feel very comfortable
00:04:34.360 stepping up and sharing their ideas.
00:04:36.260 And this is one of those situations where there's no such thing as a bad idea.
00:04:39.840 So bring them all.
00:04:41.280 And having these three gentlemen sitting there listening to what you propose and what you're concerned about and what you actually think would work is going to help actually produce that when we get to that stage in the future with Alberta.
00:04:52.640 They're real smart guys.
00:04:54.100 And you're going to like what all of them say, you know, I, I've, I spoke to Matt not long ago and, and I asked him about, um, you know, the Commonwealth Westminster model and how people aren't too happy with the King.
00:05:06.380 He said, listen, I'm open to suggestions here.
00:05:08.440 And these people, all of these guys are open to suggestions.
00:05:11.280 So I think this is fantastic.
00:05:12.540 Now you are a third party advertiser for the referendum.
00:05:16.040 How do people get tickets for this?
00:05:18.400 I think it kind of goes through, uh, your third party advertiser, um, situation here.
00:05:24.100 Yeah, you can go to theleveneshow.com and slash TPA for third party advertiser. And from there,
00:05:30.160 you can contribute and you can also get tickets. These tickets are going to be by donation.
00:05:34.280 So pay what you can afford. And if you do donate $100 or more, you're going to get a hat,
00:05:39.780 you're going to have some extra one on one at a time, and you'll be able to enter a little bit
00:05:43.460 early. But we don't want any Albertans to be left out of this conversation at all. So we've had
00:05:49.020 some people put down a dollar to get their ticket, and that's absolutely fine. And then we also have
00:05:53.880 a form that says, if you want to request a free ticket, if there's any tickets left over for any
00:05:58.880 of these dates, we'll go ahead and reach out to that list of people that are looking to participate,
00:06:03.960 but they don't have the ability to donate. But it is by donation, so pay what you can afford,
00:06:08.700 and happy to see that a lot of people are doing exactly that. And we're looking forward to putting
00:06:12.900 on more events like this in the future under the same format. I know that Dennis has been working
00:06:17.600 on a constitution here, and I think, you know, he's one of the people that are in the background. So
00:06:21.720 this could have a real effect on what we do moving forward.
00:06:27.060 Absolutely. And Dennis is also part of the Alberta Transition Council. He's one of the
00:06:31.360 co-founders of that. So he's absolutely going to be one of the people that bring forward
00:06:35.820 your feedback and bring it back to the table for consideration. And same thing with Bruce. Bruce
00:06:41.660 has been working with everybody behind the scenes as well. He's a constitutional expert, a legal
00:06:47.400 opinion and his voice carries a lot of weight and matt is also moving up the ranks when it comes to
00:06:53.160 input because uh he has some some decent ideas and one of the things i really liked about matt
00:06:58.840 was at the end of the conversation we had on my show uh not too long ago i asked all of the
00:07:04.260 gentlemen not you don't you can't pick your own but which one would you pick if it was a different
00:07:09.820 one and he actually picked bruce's he thought it would be a good idea to have a completely
00:07:13.660 different system. So Matt's an open mind. He's got some good ideas. So I'm looking forward to
00:07:18.660 seeing all three of them take their notes and take it back to the drawing board and see where
00:07:23.680 it goes for the rest of Alberta. Reasonable gentlemen, it'll be a great night. Monday,
00:07:27.640 June 29th in Edmonton, Red Deer on June 30th, Calgary on July 2nd. Tickets available at
00:07:35.540 thelevineshow.com forward slash T-P-A,
00:07:39.160 and you can always donate to Jason's third-party advertiser as well.
00:07:44.480 It's got a billboard up in Edmonton now.
00:07:46.060 Well done with that, by the way, and you want to do more of that, don't you?
00:07:49.660 A hundred percent, and fresh off the press tomorrow will be 500 lawn signs
00:07:54.040 as we start distributing those out.
00:07:55.620 We've already placed another order to get even more
00:07:58.240 because the demand for the lawn signs are from Grand Prairie
00:08:01.000 all the way down to Lethbridge and everything in between.
00:08:03.480 So we'll be working hard to get that out.
00:08:05.220 And then billboards all over.
00:08:06.920 We now have a mechanism to get our advertising out there.
00:08:10.560 Contributions is what makes this happen.
00:08:12.260 So every dollar that we get, we put it towards this advertising and put it on these events.
00:08:17.220 And as a third-party advertiser, we'll spend every single dollar that comes in because that's one of the requirements.
00:08:22.540 We will have zero dollars left when we're done because we want to reach every Albertan, everywhere they are.
00:08:28.020 And we are focusing on cities and the undecided because that's where it's going to be decided, in my opinion.
00:08:33.280 Jason, thanks so much for this.
