00:07:53.220 is now a convicted sex offender after pleading guilty in a Kishner courtroom
00:07:57.120 to sexual assault involving a victim who was a minor between 2002 and 2004.
00:08:03.020 According to the agreed statement of facts,
00:08:04.900 Bauer engaged in a romantic relationship with the girl who was 15 to 17 years old.
00:08:09.980 The Crown says in that period, the victim moved into Bauer's residence with him and shared a hotel room with him on at least one occasion during a competition,
00:08:18.500 adding that Bauer, who was in his 40s at the time, engaged in sexual touching with the victim on numerous occasions, at least weekly.
00:08:26.220 The Crown told court the victim wanted to become a national champion in Taekwondo,
00:08:30.880 and she believed that remaining with Bauer was the only option to get there.
00:08:34.620 The Crown acknowledges that Bauer could not have been aware of the victim's mindset.
00:08:38.560 Sentencing, the judge said the victim needed guidance, she needed a mentor, and she needed a leader, and unfortunately, Mr. Bauer took advantage of this.
00:08:47.180 And also noted, the victim said the offenses profoundly damaged her mentally, emotionally, and physically.
00:08:52.560 In the end, the judge accepted Bauer's guilty plea, sentencing him to two years less a day to be served in the community, followed by three years of probation.

00:09:05.680 and received an order restricting his contact with children however bauer will still be allowed
