00:00:05.740 voting on policy but it's a particularly interesting convention because this is
00:00:09.780 the first time PC members have been able to gather with a PC government let alone
00:00:14.560 a PC majority government. Premier Doug Ford just elected in June now really
00:00:20.760 speaking to resounding applause in supporters from across the province here.
00:00:24.760 And a lot of people have asked what the importance is nationally of a progressive
00:00:29.940 Conservative victory in Ontario and there are a couple of things that are
00:00:33.180 important to point out there. Number one by sheer population Ontario is a leader.
00:00:38.940 A lot of things that have been instituted in Ontario from certain boards and
00:00:43.200 commissions and government programs have ultimately become models for other
00:00:47.340 provinces but more importantly we're starting to see in Canada something that
00:00:51.600 has never really happened before which is provincial premiers banding together
00:00:55.820 for a shared goal. One very specific example of this is vanquishing Justin
00:01:02.060 Trudeau's carbon tax. Doug Ford in Ontario, Scott Moe in Saskatchewan, potentially
00:01:07.500 Jason Kenney in Alberta, Brian Palliser in Manitoba, the list goes on.
00:01:11.480 Premiers working together because certain things are bigger than just one province.
00:01:16.920 The carbon tax is one of those issues. When it comes to certain other
00:01:20.300 fundamental freedoms there are shared concerns that need to be brought
00:01:24.180 together. Conservatives in Canada have to start working together in a much better
00:01:28.260 way and a much bigger way than they have in years past and elections past and
00:01:33.240 that's why the Doug Ford government in Ontario which is by all accounts doing
00:01:37.140 absolutely tremendous work at keeping the promises it made in the election on
00:01:41.280 small-c Conservative policies is such an important one to watch. It's why there's
00:01:46.860 been such tremendous intrigue from small-c Conservative movements and policies and
00:01:51.060 parties across the country and it's momentum that definitely if the energy in
