Together we will make America powerful again. Make America wealthy again. Make America healthy again.
00:00:09.940
Donald Trump's life is in danger like never before. I'm sure you've seen the reports of
00:00:14.400
another assassination attempt. Perhaps it's not so shocking. After all, the Democrats and
00:00:20.000
Kamala Harris have done everything they can to pit Donald Trump as the man opposed to democracy.
00:00:25.820
But perhaps worse than that is that I think we can probably expect to continue seeing these
00:00:31.740
reports. After all, the election cycle is entering its final phase and Kamala Harris has done little
00:00:38.280
to assure middle-of-the-road Americans and the Democrats know that. In contrast,
00:00:44.500
Donald Trump proves that he is still the master of messaging and amid all this drama has managed
00:00:50.040
to put a smile on most of our faces. We'll dive into all that today. I'm Rachel Parker and
00:00:55.560
you're watching Rachel in the Republic.
00:01:05.680
Hey everyone, welcome back to Rachel in the Republic. I wanted to start today's show by uncovering the
00:01:11.780
latest details in the most recent failed assassination attempt against Donald Trump. This one was not
00:01:17.360
quite as dramatic as the last one with the shooter not actually ever getting close enough to have a
00:01:23.560
shot or a view of Trump in his scope, but still very concerning nonetheless. And certainly the fact that
00:01:29.120
there has now been two assassination attempts in this election cycle, which is still six, seven weeks
00:01:33.500
away, is deeply concerning. And like I said, I think we can probably expect to hear more of these types of
00:01:39.320
reports in the coming weeks. Let's dive into this first incident here. So the incident happened at the Trump
00:01:44.520
International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. That's about 15 minutes away from Trump's Florida
00:01:49.580
residents in Mar-a-Lago. If you're ever in that area, definitely take a drive around to West Palm
00:01:54.280
Beach. You can get a little bit of a look at Mar-a-Lago. I have seen it a couple times from the
00:01:58.300
outside, not from the inside yet, but I digress. So the gunman was actually seen by secret service agents
00:02:04.560
who are sweeping the course. According to the report, agents usually go one hole ahead to perform
00:02:10.120
security checks. And in this case, when they were doing those security checks, they actually saw the muzzle
00:02:15.540
of a rifle. It was an SKS semi-automatic to be specific for those of you who know a lot about
00:02:21.300
guns. And it was spotted sticking through the shrubbery that lines the golf course. At the time,
00:02:26.800
Trump was about 300 to 500 yards away from the would-be shooter. Now you guys might remember the
00:02:33.580
shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. In that case, Thomas Crooks, the individual who fired the rounds
00:02:39.140
at Donald Trump, was only about 150 yards from the former president. So in this case,
00:02:44.900
the would-be assassin was more than double the distance from the president, still at the same
00:02:50.480
location that he was. Reading this story, it doesn't appear that there was a secret service
00:02:55.480
failure, as some were saying, because in the story, it says the police typically do their checks
00:03:02.640
one golf course or one hole ahead of the president. And in this case, they were ahead of the president.
00:03:08.900
They caught the would-be assassin on time. However, it is interesting to note that the man,
00:03:14.540
he has a criminal record, and he was known to the FBI at the time. So take from that what you will.
00:03:21.340
When the agent noticed the rifle, they immediately engaged with the individual holding the rifle who
00:03:26.440
fled, and the suspect did not fire his weapon at any point during the incident. He was able to flee
00:03:32.400
the grounds in his vehicle. It was a truck, which just happened to have a Kamala Harris bumper sticker
00:03:38.220
on it. And he was actually apprehended later on on the highway on the I-95. At this point,
00:03:44.340
he was just over 60 kilometers from Trump's golf course. So in this case, you know, maybe some
00:03:50.760
hesitation that the shooter was able to get so close. The would-be shooter, I should say, was able to get
00:03:55.180
so close to the former president and the Republican presidential nominee. But it seems the circuit
00:03:59.640
service did do their job in this case of apprehending him and stopping it before any rounds were fired.
00:04:05.100
The police did fire a few rounds at him. They did not strike him, but the would-be shooter did not
00:04:10.160
fire any rounds. It just seemed this morning I was going to sit down and work on this show for you
00:04:15.500
guys, and I heard another report of a possible security breach in Nassau County in New York outside
00:04:21.820
of Trump's rally there tonight. That report has since been debunked. The police in that area say there was
00:04:27.220
no validity to a report that explosives were found. So here I was thinking that I was going to have to
00:04:32.180
bring you guys the news of two attempted assassinations. But for the time being, it looks
00:04:36.520
like there's just the one. As I said, I suspect that, you know, we might see more of these headlines
00:04:41.460
in the coming weeks. First, I want to go to Kamala Harris after this assassination attempt
00:04:46.200
on Wednesday. She said she spoke with Trump to see if he is okay. And she also had a little more
00:04:54.080
to say while speaking with the National Association of Black Journalists. Take a listen to this
00:04:57.960
next clip.
00:04:58.420
Do you have full confidence in the Secret Service to protect all of you?
00:05:02.500
I do.
00:05:03.000
Do you feel safe for you and your family?
00:05:05.080
I do. But I mean, you can go back to Ohio. Not everybody has Secret Service.
00:05:12.600
And there are far too many people in our country right now who are not feeling safe.
00:05:16.640
I mean, I look at Project 2025 and I look at, you know, like the don't say gay laws coming
00:05:24.880
out of Florida. Members of the LGBTQ community don't feel safe right now. Immigrants or people
00:05:30.680
with an immigrant background don't feel safe right now. Women don't feel safe right now.
00:05:34.400
And so, yes, I feel safe. I have Secret Service protection. But that doesn't change my perspective
00:05:45.920
on the importance of fighting for the safety of everybody in our country.
00:05:51.700
I think when we all look at this clip, it's fairly stunning to me because what's the number
00:05:56.820
one thing that you need for people to not only feel safe in a society, but to actually be safe?
00:06:02.140
You need a cohesive society and to know who's coming in your country. And that hasn't been
00:06:09.320
happening in America under Biden and Harris, who, by the way, was the borders are responsible
00:06:14.420
for checking who's entering the States. So when she's talking about not everyone has Secret Service,
00:06:19.560
it's just such a stunning contrast to the, yes, not everyone has Secret Service. In a healthy society,
00:06:25.980
not everyone would need Secret Service. And it's becoming increasingly the case in the States
00:06:30.800
that violent crime is on the rise and that illegal immigrants are killing American born citizens.
00:06:37.760
And so that seems to be lost on Harris. I know she wants to sort of look at Donald Trump and say,
00:06:43.760
oh, his anti-immigration rhetoric is the reason that immigrants don't feel safe. Actually, there was a
00:06:50.400
campaign that was released from immigrants in the States, from Latin Americans who were saying,
00:06:56.000
you know, if you are in America and you are not American, you are not able to vote. Because people
00:07:02.480
who have fled to America from unsafe countries don't like the fact that illegal aliens are bringing
00:07:08.720
crime along with them. They don't like the gang violence that's coming into America and they want
00:07:12.320
it to end. And because of policies like the open border policies that we've seen under the Biden-Harris
00:07:18.640
administration, violent crime is on the rise. And I think most people recognize that. It obviously seems to be
00:07:24.320
lost on Harris, although she's probably just disingenuous. Now, as I mentioned, I think we're
00:07:29.440
going to continue to see the sorts of attacks that we saw on Donald Trump at Butler, Pennsylvania,
00:07:36.240
that we saw again outside of Mar-a-Lago. I think we're going to continue to see those types of headlines
00:07:40.240
in the coming weeks. So the question is why? Why is there such an effort to take Donald Trump out of
00:07:47.520
the race in really the most final and finite way possible? That's because Kamala Harris has not been
00:07:54.640
able to assure middle of the road Americans that she's the best option for them. And I think the
00:08:00.000
best example of this is if we go back to the debate coverage last week, you guys probably remember,
00:08:04.960
I had a very full show on the first debate against, it was second presidential debate,
00:08:11.200
second presidential debate, but the first debate against Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. And in the
00:08:16.320
immediate aftermath of the debate, you know, Republicans, they were not feeling super positive
00:08:21.120
about Trump's performance. They were saying, ah, you know, he, he had some critical errors. He wasn't
00:08:26.480
on his game. And of course, the big story was how biased the moderators were towards and favor of
00:08:32.960
Kamala Harris and against Trump. And those are all still, you know, the moderator's actions,
00:08:36.720
those are still true things. But when we're actually talking about the debate, it's been very
00:08:40.960
interesting to see how that is now being remembered. It's often said, you know, what immediately happens
00:08:46.240
in the aftermath of an instance, it's not actually what really matters. It's how it's remembered and
00:08:50.640
the impact that it has on people later on, you might even think of sometimes, you know, my father
00:08:55.200
in law always says, Oh, well, misery makes a memory, you might remember some times in your life when you
00:08:59.760
went through something, and it was like, you know, a really bad travel experience where your plane was
00:09:04.400
delayed, and you were stuck at the airport, and it was just the most miserable thing. And typically,
00:09:08.320
later on, a few years later, you're telling people about it, and you're just kind of able to laugh
00:09:11.280
about that, like, really awful you experience it happened in the moment, you're like, this is not
00:09:15.040
funny, this will never be funny. Later on, you're able to laugh me like, can you believe that happened
00:09:19.440
that we were eating, you know, three day old stale bread for a whole day before we finally got to
00:09:25.040
where we were going, that type of thing. And I think that's kind of what we're seeing with the
00:09:29.520
Trump's debate performance is how it's being remembered with a lot of pundits now coming out and
00:09:33.440
saying, you know, actually, based on the polling that we're seeing, it looks like Trump
00:09:38.160
won the debate. And it looks like Trump won the debate because as I've said,
00:09:41.040
Kamala Harris was not able to reassure those middle of the road Americans.
00:09:44.960
But also because of one critical moment during the debate that Trump was criticized
00:09:49.440
so hard for, he was criticized by the debate moderators who fact check him in real time.
00:09:54.480
He was criticized by the Democrats who, you know, who continue to say he has sort of this
00:09:59.040
anti-immigration rhetoric, like we just saw from Kamala Harris. And he was also criticized by
00:10:04.160
Republicans who said, you know, this isn't really the best example that Trump could have given
00:10:09.120
about the, you know, fake, the border policies. That example is, of course, when Trump warned about
00:10:16.800
Haitian immigrants in Springfield eating the cats and eating the dogs. And we covered this a little
00:10:22.320
bit on the show last minute. And at the time it was like, well, you know, at least he's drawing
00:10:26.320
attention to this issue. At least he's drawing attention to the fact that people of Springfield
00:10:30.480
are concerned about the influx of 20,000 Haitian immigrants to a population of only about 60 to
00:10:37.120
80,000 themselves. And, you know, it's changing the fabric of that society. And people are warning
00:10:42.240
of a rise in crime. They're warning of rising costs of insurance. And most importantly, people are
00:10:47.680
warning that their pets are being eaten. And, you know, and Trump was sort of roundly lambasted across
00:10:54.160
all parties for, for this comment. Well, it turns out that this became sort of a viral internet meme
00:11:01.360
in the days since TikTok users on TikTok, sort of someone remixed his, his words and put some music
00:11:09.520
to it. And it became sort of a viral dance trend on TikTok. And, you know, people watching this,
00:11:15.520
it just, it just kind of puts a smile on your face. Take a look at this next compilation. This is
00:11:19.200
just a tiny, tiny sample of all the videos that were on TikTok and all over the internet,
00:11:26.880
kind of laughing and, and responding to Trump's comments in just a funny and joyful way. Take a
00:11:31.440
look.
00:11:39.120
You guys want to know something? I could do all those dance moves. I just choose not to. Sometimes I'm like,
00:12:05.680
should I be, should I be on TikTok? Like maybe TikTok is really the platform for me. I don't
00:12:10.640
know. That made me laugh though. Like, come on, we always talk about Kamala Harris, the whole theme
00:12:14.560
of the Democrats this year is joy. You know, Kamala Harris is sort of just like the vision of joy,
00:12:19.360
but like that, how can you watch that and not have a little bit of a laugh? Like, it's pretty funny.
00:12:24.080
And, you know, kind of makes me get in the, get in the mood to go out for a groove. The other thing
00:12:28.800
that really struck me was how diverse that crowd was. Like, it's like a whole range of people.
00:12:34.080
We had Latin Americans. We had the basic white girls doing their white girl dances on TikToks.
00:12:38.880
We had an African American and you know, everyone is enjoying this, this viral clip. And I have to
00:12:44.240
think that if people didn't hate Donald Trump as much as they were told to as, and if people didn't
00:12:51.280
really believe, if people really believed that, you know, he was actually this, this anti-democracy
00:12:57.200
figure, I can't imagine that they would be dancing to remixes of his comments during the debate.
00:13:02.160
So I have to believe when I look at that, it's like, even if those people might not necessarily
00:13:06.160
be Trump supporters in my head, I can't, I can't kind of, I can't believe that they actually like
00:13:12.400
despise him as much as we're told that most Americans, you know, despise Trump because I
00:13:16.960
just can't, you know, I, I can't square that circle, that square square, that circle of them
00:13:21.200
actually going out and dancing to, you know, to this remix of Trump. They have to kind of like him,
00:13:26.800
you know, they have to, or at least tolerate him, at least not believe that he is like the most evil
00:13:31.280
thing. So that to me, I saw that. And I think a lot of people have been commenting on this and saying,
00:13:35.360
you know, we were wrong about Trump's, we were wrong in our response to Trump's comments about
00:13:39.600
the Haitian immigrants eating cats and eating dogs. And it just once again proves that Donald Trump
00:13:44.320
truly is the master of messaging. You cannot contain this man. He thinks about things in ways
00:13:50.320
that no one else really does. And he's proven that I think in all the election cycles, just the way
00:13:55.840
that he's able for even for the best example of this is the way that he's able to label his opponents.
00:14:01.120
Now we've got Comrade, Kamala, he's sort of Sleepy Joe, you know, he's able to sort of pin these names
00:14:07.360
on people that really stick it and they paint a nice picture for all of us, you know, at home and for
00:14:12.320
people who don't follow politics that closely. It's just like, oh, Sleepy Joe. Yeah, you know, he does seem
00:14:17.040
kind of out of it. He does seem not quite up for the job. And so Trump has proven throughout his
00:14:21.920
whole political career. And even before that, as a very successful businessman, when he ran,
00:14:27.840
when he ran The Apprentice, I watched that show growing up. I mean, I love that show. It was great.
00:14:31.280
I watched it with my family. I'm sure some of you at home watched it. He's just so strong with his
00:14:35.520
messaging. And in this case, I don't know if he did it on purpose. You know, there was a lot of people
00:14:39.200
who said there was better examples to pull from, and we're talking about the crisis of illegal immigration
00:14:43.520
in the States. And Trump was just sort of naturally himself. And I don't know if we've seen that a ton
00:14:48.320
during this election cycle. A lot of people, a lot of conservative pundits have been saying,
00:14:52.000
well, you know, he did get hit in the head with a bullet. Maybe he's not quite feeling himself.
00:14:56.480
Maybe we need to give him a little bit of a break. But I think this was sort of classic Trump.
00:15:00.240
You know, he says the thing that no one wants him to say. He says the thing that no one thinks he
00:15:05.920
should say that they think is a mistake. And it turns out to be one of the best moments of the
00:15:10.480
campaign. Here we are a week from the debate. And this is still in the headlines. This is still
00:15:15.040
relevant to the ongoing American election cycle. If that's not a debate success story, then I don't
00:15:22.000
know what is the fact that we're talking about it now seven days out, seven, eight days since the
00:15:26.560
debate actually happened. Obviously, you know, it was a very successful night for Trump. And people are
00:15:32.400
beginning to remember that. Trump, of course, himself did not miss the opportunity to comment on
00:15:36.960
this online in a post to Truth Social. He wrote, finally, everyone is agreeing that I won the debate
00:15:42.960
with Kamala. It was like a delayed reaction. But as one political pundit said, Trump is still the
00:15:49.840
greatest of all time. And, you know, fair enough. I think that he truly is the master of messaging.
00:15:54.400
He just has a way of saying these things that get in people's heads. And even when we're seeing it being
00:16:00.240
used on TikTok, you know, this is sort of the forgotten generation when it comes to politics,
00:16:04.560
sort of the highly coveted generation when it comes to politics. We always see politicians
00:16:09.440
trying to appeal to the young people. And certainly the Democrats do tend to do so in a very sort of
00:16:15.040
cringy and embarrassing way. And Trump makes one off the cuff remark, and it becomes a trending song
00:16:22.240
on Twitter for days. So, you know, certainly, definitely debate success story. I want to talk
00:16:27.440
about the debate just for one or two more minutes. We're not going to spend a lot much more time on
00:16:31.440
this today because obviously we had a whole show on it last week. But last week, Wednesday,
00:16:35.760
I recorded my show. I packed a bag early Thursday morning. I hopped on a flight and went to Kansas
00:16:40.480
City to see, in my opinion, probably one of the greatest journalists of all time,
00:16:45.440
Megyn Kelly. I'm sure you guys are familiar with her work. She had an appearance with Tucker Carlson in
00:16:50.160
Kansas City. It was actually my birthday. So it was a really great way to spend that day. And she was
00:16:55.120
just fantastic to listen to. She's every bit as fabulous as you can possibly imagine. And so Tucker
00:17:01.120
interviewed her. And of course, they spent a little time talking about the debate. And I think
00:17:04.320
she just really and succinctly summed up perfectly what the night looked like to any average Americans
00:17:10.720
watching that debauched debate performance from those moderators. Take a look at what she had to say.
00:17:15.200
You're the Republican candidate. You show up. You've got both of the moderators and your opponent
00:17:19.360
against you. You get interrupted in every answer. You get fact-checked erroneously in every answer.
00:17:24.160
You get the moderator's opinion coming at you as a fact-check. You get follow-ups on everything.
00:17:29.120
If you try to dodge or weave it all, they will nail you to the floor. But if you're Kamala Harris,
00:17:33.040
and you've said everything there is to say about fracking, and then show up and say,
00:17:36.480
I've always been consistent, it's thank you, Madam President.
00:17:39.520
So I'm sure you guys are familiar with her, as I said. But if you're not, you definitely want to
00:17:42.960
check out Megyn Kelly's work online, especially for her coverage of all things political. I was
00:17:47.920
actually talking about this with some of the people at the event. And Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly
00:17:52.000
are both very talented and obviously exceptional journalists in their own right. And I think
00:17:57.600
Tucker Carlson really excels at kind of talking about the principles and messaging in America
00:18:02.880
and certain policies the Democrats are putting forward and what it means for the country as a
00:18:06.880
whole. And Megyn Kelly obviously has, she was a litigator before she became a broadcast journalist
00:18:13.440
at Fox News, which is where she got the start of her career, which obviously blew up. And she's so good
00:18:18.400
at really like nailing the facts and knowing the specifics of the nitty gritty of legislation and
00:18:22.960
how it will actually play out in the courts. So it was a really interesting dynamic to have them there
00:18:27.040
on the stage because they both have such unique talents and really complemented each other. So
00:18:31.280
I enjoy both their work. So looking forward in the campaign, is there going to be another
00:18:38.160
presidential debate to be the third presidential debate, the second between Donald Trump and Kamala
00:18:41.760
Harris. In the immediate aftermath of the debate, it seemed like Trump was open to it. He's now saying
00:18:47.040
that he's not open to a third debate. There will be no third debate. And I think the reason that
00:18:51.760
we're seeing that is because he's seeing the polling come out since the debate and he's seeing sort of
00:18:56.560
how his performance is being remembered online and he's feeling comfortable with it. He's feeling
00:19:00.400
confident in it. Typically, you know, you don't need to kind of continue putting yourself out there
00:19:04.240
if you're feeling like you already have a strong enough lead. And, you know, maybe some people are
00:19:08.800
arguing, you know, that he felt shaky in his performance. He doesn't want to try it again.
00:19:12.400
I think he just feels like my performance was as good as it's going to be. It's being remembered
00:19:17.600
positively. The polls haven't swung for Kamala Harris. You know, why give her another chance?
00:19:22.080
And then, of course, there's the whole issues with the moderators. How can you ensure as a
00:19:26.240
Republican candidate that you're going to get a fair moderator? You might just have another night like
00:19:31.920
we saw last week where the moderators are nailing you to the floor, as Megyn Kelly so aptly put it,
00:19:38.480
and they are letting Kamala Harris get away with her lies time and time again. So that is also
00:19:43.120
something that I think Republican candidates, future Republican candidates are going to have to
00:19:47.520
really think about and consider is, am I going to continue to put myself in a position to essentially
00:19:53.040
be abused and mistreated as a candidate? And so Donald Trump, for now, he's made the decision
00:19:59.840
not to go forward with the third debate. I don't suspect that he will change his mind,
00:20:03.840
but you know that if he does, I will be here with all the details for all of you.
00:20:08.080
Just before we finish the show, there's a few more things I wanted to show you guys today.
00:20:13.440
Tim Walls, I thought this guy was a bit of a weirdo. Now it turns out that his wife is like
00:20:18.880
a thousand times percent more weird than he is. I mean, they're calling like the JD Vances of the
00:20:25.120
world weird. Here is Tim Walls' wife, Glenn Walls, at a campaign with him, trying to encourage
00:20:32.240
and rally voters in Wisconsin. Take a look at this.
00:20:35.680
I kind of liked it when she did this. Turn the page. You like that? Okay. So I need you to be
00:20:43.920
with me and practice with me. What are we going to do? We're going to turn the page. Oh, pretty good.
00:20:49.520
Do it again. We're going to turn the page and we're going to turn the page. All right. So I'm going to be
00:20:56.160
watching you because when I see Wisconsin and I'm one watching National Land TV because this is a
00:21:03.040
pretty important place and Minnesota will help you practice with this, you just show me this. Turn
00:21:08.640
the page, right? Turn the page. And you know what else that looks like? Bye-bye. Bye-bye Donald Trump.
00:21:21.360
We are turning the page.
00:21:27.680
52 days and we are turning the page. 52 days and it is. Bye-bye Donald Trump.
00:21:35.600
You know who she really reminds me of, especially in that last little clip where last little part of
00:21:40.960
the clip. Bye-bye Donald Trump. She reminds me of Hillary Clinton. She sort of has that same,
00:21:45.280
you know, white woman rage bubbling underneath the surface, but political rallies can really go one of
00:21:51.200
two ways. And this went like the worst of the ways where it just turned into something very, very
00:21:56.240
cringy, very quickly where you're actually asking the audience to do these like kind of lame, you know,
00:22:01.760
like there's at no point in my life would I ever have gone along with that at any political rally.
00:22:05.920
Like I would definitely have been in the crowd rolling my eyes and you can even see Tim Wills.
00:22:09.520
He's kind of standing back and he's like, Oh, like, are we really doing this? Like, he's like, Oh yeah.
00:22:13.600
Like, and then, you know, he, he quickly kind of gets on board with his wife, but he had that moment
00:22:17.120
of being like, she really going to do this. And then of course she, she goes forward and, you know,
00:22:21.920
just contrasting that to, to Donald Trump, who, you know, he's not always the most clear in his
00:22:28.560
speeches. Um, the, here he is at his own campaign rally this week. And just the way that he speaks
00:22:34.880
to the audience is if they're actual adults who can understand him, it is, it is some quite the
00:22:39.680
juxtaposition. Take a look at this.
00:22:41.200
So it's quite the juxtaposition of him actually,
00:23:10.960
actually offering a vision for what America will look like under another Donald Trump presidency.
00:23:16.000
The other irony of the walls clip of the Glenn walls clip that she's talking about,
00:23:20.960
you know, wishing Donald Trump goodbye. Well, Biden is the president. The Democrats are in
00:23:24.720
power right now. Donald Trump isn't president. Donald Trump is the opponent of the candidates,
00:23:28.960
not actually in government in any capacity right now. So I don't know what you're wishing him
00:23:33.520
goodbye for. If you're talking about all the problems in Wisconsin, you could probably lay
00:23:37.280
the blame for that squarely at the feet of the current Biden-Harris administration.
00:23:40.880
But we see this time and time again with the Democrats where they talk about the need to,
00:23:44.000
you know, move forward and to do away with, you know, the, the old 800, 1800 style, um,
00:23:53.040
ice age, like Republicans, even when they are actually the ones in power the whole time. So
00:23:59.760
everyone I'm Rachel Parker. Thank you for watching Rachel and the Republic. We will be back next week
00:24:04.800
with more American election cycle coverage for you all. I hope that you guys have a great week. God bless.
00:24:20.080
